Summary:

Communication is key in any good relationship. So is timing.

Notes:

For the fall 2025 round of Hearts and Sparks Ship Week, filling the August 26th prompt: Eternity

Did I need another Bayverse AU? No. No I did not. But, here we are.

Work Text:

“Mik, hey.” Jazz sat down next to her as Mikaela stared out across the lake. “I’m sorry. I didn’t think about how that sounded.”

“I know.” Mikaela sighed and turned away from the water to look at him. “I know you weren’t trying to be selfish or manipulative or whatever else I said, too. But the way you dropped it on me…”

“I know. You were recovering from a mind blowing orgasm and I asked you to transfer your consciousness into a whole other body so we could have better sex.”

“Not your best moment, Jazz.”

“Probably my second worst, yeah.” Jazz sighed. “I didn’t ask just because of that, though. I asked because we’ve probably only got forty years left together without it. And… forty years ain’t enough. Especially not now, when I know we can transfer you into a Cybertronian body and you’d live as long as me, Decepticons willing.”

Mikaela nodded and turned her eyes back toward the lake. “I don’t know if you know how tempting it really is, now that it’s not just theoretical. It’s a whole new level of ‘as long as you both shall live’ and I could see all the places I’d always wanted to see, and then I could just fly among the stars with you when you leave, and… and…”

“And never say goodbye.”

“Yeah.”

“So what’s holding you back? Cause I’m not sure Maggie even hesitated before she said yes.”

“Honestly? I don’t know.” Mikaela sighed. Then she stood up and turned away from the lake. “Ask me again in a year, Jazz.”

“In a year, you got it.” Jazz nodded. “You want me to make dinner?”

“No. Let’s drive back into town and grab a burger and some ice cream. I think I need comfort food.”

“Whatever you want, sweetspark.” Jazz stood up long enough to transform, and then popped open the driver’s side door for her. He’d fragged up, but not so badly that he couldn't start making it up to her right now. “We can hit that place you liked by the mall and be back before moonrise.”
