“No, no.” Sunstreaker crouched down behind him and reached out for Chip’s hand. The Human let him take it without hesitation, and Sunstreaker carefully adjusted his fingers around the brush he was holding. “The way you were holding it would have damaged the bristles and made it harder to control your paint. This way gives you control, stability and increases your brush life.”
“Okay.” Chip looked down at his hand when Sunstreaker released it, trying to memorize the way his partner had arranged his fingers. It didn’t feel as comfortable as the way he’d been holding it before, but he could see already how it would help with the tremors he was starting to have. “Now what?”
“Start putting down colors. Get some basic shapes down and then we’ll start working on things like shading and light.”
“All right.” Chip reached for the palette, where he had squeezed out some acrylics in colors that seemed fun at the beginning of their lesson.
He grinned, when he dipped his bristles into the neon pink and Sunstreaker groaned.

Hours later, they were both looking at his painting with critical gazes. It was a riot of overly bright neon colors, arranged in a way that reminded him of the Las Vegas Strip, but it was very abstract. Chip was happy with it, as an early effort, but he could already see where he was going to have to learn better ways to cover the canvas with the more translucent colors.
“Well,” Sunstreaker finally said, “You’re no Picasso, but you’ve definitely got something going on here. I still hate the fluorescents, though.”
“Thanks, Sun. that means a lot.” Chip leaned back in his chair, new and painted the same shade of neon pink he had started his painting with. “But we’re not repainting my chair.”
Sunstreaker laughed and bumped his shoulder gently with one hand as he brought up the argument they’d had when he unpacked the new chair. “Then I’m not going to be seen in public with you until it wears out.”
“Yeah, that’ll last til you need me to pick grass out of your bumper again.”
They both laughed, and then Sunstreaker offered his hand to Chip. Chip rolled carefully onto it, and then the Cybertronian carried him to the mess hall and their dinner.
