The guest bedroom in Tsutako’s home had - As the eldest Tomioka had dubbed it - become a den, the permanent smell of Kyoujurou’s sunny colonge and the clean smell of the laundry detergent Giyuu insisted on using becoming a fixture of the room. Home for the winter holidays from University, the bedroom had become a pillowy kingdom of Kyoujurou’s brightly coloured hoodies, Giyuu’s wash faded black sweatpants, laptops sitting dangerously on the edge of the bed, tangled charging cables, snack wrappers haphazardly thrown into the small bin in the corner, and two empty ramen bowls they swore they would take down to the kitchen “later”.
It was nearly 12 in the afternoon, the sun spilling through the open curtains, creating bars of light onto the bed. Kyoujurou was awake first, as he often was, fingers brushing through the thick, inky waves of hair that rested on his chest. Giyuu had the tendency to migrate on top of Kyoujurou when they slept, becoming a very affectionate and affective weighted blanket. The blonde sigh pleasantly through his nose, cradling the back of Giyuu’s head, placing his other hand on the small of his back, thumb rubbing circles on the small patch skin peaking through where the ravenette’s shirt rode up in his sleep. It was peaceful.
Then, the sound of knocking pierced the tranquil silence of the room.
knock, knock, knock.
Then, a small voice, “Kyo-nii? Yuu-chan?”
It was Kairi, Tsutako’s 19 month old daughter. Everyday, at 11 or 12, without fail, she would come seek them out to come hang out for an hour or two, before being whisked away by her mother for nap time. Slowly the door opened and Kairi peered over the edge of the door, wide oceanic eyes staring at the couple still tangled under the duvet, a shocking replica of her mother’s and uncle’s eyes.
"Good morning, chiquita,” Kyoujurou whispered, though it was no longer morning, bringing a finger to his lips. Kairi covered her mouth as she padded over to the bed, gripping the sheets in her mighty fists and climbing onto the bed, crawling over to the lazy bodies. The movement making Giyuu groan and nuzzle his face further into Kyoujurou’s neck. Nose pressing into the pulse point on the side of the blonde’s neck.
“Yuu-chan?” She muttered, settling into Kyoujurou’s open arm, his warm hand settling between her shoulder blades.
“Yuu-chan’s still asleep, little spark,” Kyoujurou said, a soft, affectionate spreading across his face as he brushed through short, thick strands of inky black hair with his hand.
A sleepy sigh caught their attention as Giyuu slowly sat up, hair sticking up in places wildly, shaking his head slightly. “Yuu-chan was asleep.” He muttered, sitting up on Kyoujurou’s stomach, eyes squinted and eyebrows furrowed as he tried to get used the light and fully wake up.
“Yuu’!” Kairi cheered, shuffling closer to Kyoujurou’s side.
“Mm?” Giyuu sleepily mumbled, stretching his arms above his head, sighing when his back cracked delightfully.
“Yuu’!” She announced again, clambering onto Kyoujurou aswell, who groaned when her small knee accidentally made contact with his ribs.
Kyoujurou rose to his elbows, staring fondly as Kairi also sat on his stomach, facing him and leaned back into Giyuu’s chest, who trapped her tightly in a hug, digging his face into her hair, and gently shook her. Mumbling a soft “Morning” into her head that was barely heard over Kairi’s giggles, before his shoulder slumped dramatically, and gently got off Kyoujurou dragging the toddler with him. Settling on his knees beside his boyfriend, their niece in his lap.
“Soooooo,” Kyoujurou started, rolling onto his side, propping his head up onto his head. “What’s on the agenda for today?” He asked, reaching out to rest his wrist on Giyuu’s hip.
Giyuu shrugged, looking around before he grabbed a bag of chips that rested next to the empty ramen bowls, tearing it open and grabbing a chip. He held it in front of the toddlers face, waiting for her to open her mouth so he could plop the treat on her tongue. Kyoujurou smiled, grabbing a handful for himself, shoving them into his mouth.
They stayed like that for an hour, sharing chips while watching stupid videos on Kyoujurou’s phone. It wasn’t long before Tsutako came knocking on their door, looking for her child, who sat on her uncles lap, excitedly tapping on Kyoujurou’s phone whenever he scrolled onto a funny video.
“There she is – Are you guys filling my toddler up on chips? Before her lunch?” Tsutako stared at the scene, Kyoujurou leaning up against the head board, arms awkwardly pushed out in front of them, Giyuu nestled comfortably between his legs, his head leaning back onto the blonde’s shoulder, and Kairi sitting Giyuu’s lap. A bag of sea salt original chips sat on the bed beside them.
“Hello, nee-san,” Giyuu greeted her, making eye contact. “And yes.”
“A little snack!” Kyoujurou joined in, voice booming.
Tsutako sighed incredously, “Come on, baby girl, it’s time to eat something proper, not what ever these hooligans eat,” She spoke, her tone light and playful as she shot the couple a look.
“No!!!!” Kairi screeched, turning to shove her head into Giyuu’s chest, holding his shirt tightly in her fist.
Kyoujurou chuckled, a deep rumble in his chest, bringing up his hand to Kairi’s head, “Well then!” He laughed, “I think you got your answer.” He continued to laugh, tears pricking his eyes as he covered his mouth with the back of his hand.
“Yeah, Tsu-nee, she’s hanging out with the cool kids,” Giyuu said, a rare cocky smirk spreading across his face.
Tsutako scoffed, rolling her eyes and placing her hands on her hips playfully, “Am I not cool enough now, Kairi? Wow, betrayed by my own kin,” She dramatically placed her hands to her chest, pretending to be greif stricken, causing more laughter to arise from the trio on the bed. “Okay, but seriously, uncle Giyuu and Kyoujurou need their alone time, and you need to eat something proper and then have a nap.”
Kairi frowned, looking up at Giyuu, her bottom lip trembling. “Stay, Yuu-chan and Kyo-nii…”
“We’ll hang out more, growing girls need to eat proper food and have their naps.” Giyuu said, pressing a soft kiss to the girl’s head.
“You’ll get big and strong! Like Kyo-nii!” Kyoujurou joined in, flexing his bicep with a giant smile.
Kairi giggled, nodding enthusiastically, “Okay!” She declared, clambering off Giyuu’s lap and to the side of the bed, holding her arms up for Tsutako to pick her up.
Tsutako mouthed “Thank you” to the couple, hoisting her daughter onto her hip, holding her up securely as she turned around. Over Tsutako’s shoulder, Kairi gave a slow wave before she was escorted out, the door shutting closed behind them.
With a relaxed sigh, Giyuu turned to rest his head on Kyoujurou’s chest, closing his eyes and listening to his heart beat, bringing his hand up to rest on Kyoujurou’s pectoral. The blonde threw his phone somewhere on the bed, wrapping his arms around Giyuu’s waist, digging his nose into the ravenette’s hair, smelling the shampoo he used.
“You know,” Kyoujurou muttered, pressing a kiss onto Giyuu’s head before turning onto his side, taking his love with him.
“Hm?” Giyuu hummed, wiggling to get more comfortable.
“You’d make a great father one day,” Kyoujurou admitted, running his hand up and down Giyuu’s back.
Giyuu giggled lightly, the sound muffled by Kyoujurou’s body, before looking up at Kyoujurou.
“Lets focus on being the best uncles for Kairi, first.” He said, capturing Kyoujurou’s lips in a slow, soft kiss.
Kyoujurou hummed, closing his eyes. Mumbling a quiet “Yeah.” Against Giyuu’s lips.
