Work Text:
Liko opened her eyes and got up out of her bed, she stretched a bit and reached for her nightstand out of a sense of habit. But she couldn’t find what she was looking for.
Trying to not let it bum her out she decided to try and leave her room and go into Dots room, she knocked in a rhythm that let them know it was Liko knocking.
Dot opened the door to Liko and silently welcomed her inside. They were in a relationship now, or at least, they thought they were. Neither of them really knew how to be romantically involved with someone but that wasn’t stopping either of them.
Dot looked at Liko and noticed that she seemed to be acting oddly, “You seem a bit… moody, is something wrong?” Dot asked.
“Wha-? Oh it’s silly… it’s just… I kind of liked having the pendant.” Liko explained “It just… felt nice, I guess.”
Dot could relate to that, their cardigan was basically always with them for the same reason. But this was a different matter, Likos pendant had become Terapagos, and they couldn’t really ask it to turn back into a pendant.
That pendant had shone brighter than stars at times. And Dot really only had a few ideas that she could do.
But they weren't broke, they had saved enough from Nidothing streams on the side that she had a hefty sum of cash.
“Stay here I’m… gonna be getting something.” Dot said as they headed out of the room much to Likos confusion.
Dot wasn’t entirely sure why they were doing this.
They had the cash too, sure, but there wasn’t a reason for her to go out and buy Jewelry.
But they were already in the city, and she had already told Liko they were getting her something.
No turning back now.
They tried to blend into the crowds as much as possible, her eyes darting from store front to store front to try and find what she was looking for.
They had found one after about 10 minutes of searching, the store was devoid of people outside of the clerk working. Perfect.
She entered and the Clerk gave them an empty welcome, she responded with a simple hand raise, their eyes were tracked onto a pendant that was on display, the gem attached shined brilliantly from the light, her eyes trailed down to a display below it told them that the gemstone was a comet piece, highly sought after.
Dot had already said farewell to their savings when she left the Brave Asagai. She was just barely able to afford it.
Looks like she wasn’t getting a vacation anytime soon.
After awkwardly asking the clerk to put it in a gift box for her to carry, Dot headed out of the establishment and walked back to the Brave Asagai.
Walking absolutely was not her strong suit, Dot had gone barely a mile and they were exhausted, but a small break was all she needed before she made it back to the airship.
Opening the door to their room once more, Liko turned her head to the noise of the door as Dot walked in.
“Where did you go?” Liko asked, curious about where her partner had gone.
“I uh… heard you talking about missing your pendant and I know you could never get it back but…” Dot pulled out the box and gave it to Liko, who opened it and marveled at the pendant inside. “I know it probably can't compare to your old one but-”
Dot was surprised by Liko turning their head and kissing them. It was a welcome surprise for her though.
“Thank you!” Liko said as Dot began to try and recover from Liko kissing them. She took the pendant out of the box and put it on her. “How does it look?”
“It looks… perfect, like a star almost.” Dot said, still flustered but they had recovered enough to speak.
Dot smiled as Liko appreciated their gift, happy that she liked it so much. She was prepared for Liko to leave and go along with her day but she had surprised her again by hugging her as Dot began to stand from her bed.
She returned the gesture as one thought went through Dot's head.
They would do anything for her.
