Work Text:
The rain was pouring hard on the Brave Asagai.
The dark clouds blanketed the sky, occasionally being lit up by the spark of thunder. The glass fogged up as the rain kept pouring.
Liko liked the rain, it was soothing almost, something in her primal brain ultimately liked the sound and feel of it. She felt the rain was pretty in a way.
Maybe the prettiest thing in the world.
She placed her arms and head on a rail of the observatory. The storm wasn’t too bad that she wasn’t needed in the deck, so she could just relax and watch the storm overhead.
It reminded her of home in a way, being able to watch heavy storms on the porch and occasionally feel the raindrops skimming her skin as the wind pushed it under the roof.
Though… it was probably too dangerous to try and emulate that here, she could already tell that the winds were extremely heavy, even inside the observation deck.
She had occasionally heard the sounds of the elevator moving, she occasionally turned her head to look at it before turning back, more likely than not it was others trying to deal with the storm.
However the next time she heard the elevator, it lasted longer than any of the previous instances of the elevator, it was probably Friede or Roy coming to check in on her, she had been up here for a while, but she was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn’t either of those two.
It was Dot.
“Hey…” Dot said bluntly as the two locked eyes.
“What are you doing up here?” Liko said nervously as Dot sat next to her.
“You’ve been up here for a half hour Liko, I wanted to make sure you were ok.”
“I’m fine, really. I just… like the rain.” Liko said as Dot turned towards her.
“Huh, what’s so special about the rain?”
Liko tried to articulate what she liked about the rain but she couldn’t really do so. It was something that couldn't be articulated.
“I guess it’s just nice to watch… I guess…”
“I see, mind if I stay here for a bit, Murdock has been on my back all day.”
“Wha- I mean- yeah, sure!” Liko panicked while talking but it was a small enough stumble that Dot didn’t seem to notice, or if she did she didn’t pay any mind to it.
The two stayed in the observatory for a while, just… watching the rain.
Dot saw the fogged up glass and had an idea, she put her finger to the glass and started drawing.
“Hey what are you… no way, is that me?!” Likos eyes sparkled as she saw Dots illustration. “It looks so good!”
“It’s… nothing, really.”
“Don’t sell yourself short like that! I can’t really do that much.” Liko said as she demonstrated with her side of the glass.
“You need to make his hair bigger, he’ll get mad if he finds out you only made it large.” Dot joked as she saw Likos drawing.
“He finally got it cut, that’s my explanation.”
“I think he would rather die than get his hair cut.” The two giggled at their teasing of a Pokemon that wasn’t even here to be teased to. Dot was distracted for long enough that Liko managed to quickly scribble something out on her side.
Dot turned to what Liko had drawn. “Oh like I would say that!”
“You totally would, don’t even try to hide it.” A laugh escaped Liko as she grabbed Dots arm to stop her from erasing what she had just written and drawn, Dot's face turned red as Liko held her arm. Liko stopped laughing and opened her eyes and realized what was happening and quickly turned away, flustered.
Dot managed to wipe away the entire glass afterwards. She walked back into the elevator before Liko spoke to her.
“That was nice… might have been the best storm watch I’ve ever had.” Liko said awkwardly.
The elevator door closed as Dot blushed the harshest red she ever had as the elevator started going down.
“WhydidIsaythat? WhydidIsaythat? WhydidIsaythat?” Liko panicked alone in the observatory as she tried to put her attention back to the rain, but ultimately couldn’t.
For she had found something prettier than the rain now.
