Chapter Text
Six siblings were scattered throughout the batplane.
Dick and Jason were sitting at the pilots seats, flying the plane while communicating with the other bats on the ground.
Damien was cleaning the blood off of his sword while his older sister Cass kept him company.
Tim and Steph were in the small lab running some samples.
“O I’m getting some strange signals up here, can you see what’s going on?” Dick asked through the comms.
All the six of them could hear was static.
“Oracle?” Dick called out.
“Red check out the radio frequencies for us?” Jason asked his second youngest brother.
“On it.” Tim responded, heading towards the panels.
He opens it up but gets thrown across as the plane rocks back and forth.
“Everyone strap in!” Dick yelled out.
Steph pulled Tim towards the seats, everyone already buckled up.
“What is happening Nightwing?” Damien demands.
“Something is forcing the batplane towards a wormhole.” Jason yells out as he helps his older brother.
The force gets stronger as the plane gets closer. Dick and Jason both try to swerve away from the force but ultimately fail.
“Everyone hold on!” Dick yells out.
They all yell out as they travel through the wormhole. They don’t regain control of the plane until they’re through the wormhole and into another dimension. Jason flinches a switch which puts the plane in invisible mode.
Tim spins his chair towards the large computer screen. Typing on the keyboard while the two older brothers find a clearing to land.
The other three siblings scan the computer, watching as Tim works out where they are.
Dick lands the plane on the roof of an abandoned building. “Figure out where we are baby bird?” Jason asks, unbuckling himself.
“We’re in a world of hunters.” Tim chuckles.
“A world of what?” Steph raises an eyebrow.
“Instead of heros fighting villains, we have hunters fight monsters in gates which I’m guessing is where we went through.” Tim explains. “They call themselves hunters.”
“Any version of us we need to worry about?” Dick asks.
“Not that I can tell. Other heros exist they’re just called hunters here, but they have something called guilds…and they live-stream.”
“Live stream?” Damien scoffs. “As in they showcase their fights to the world?”
“Yep.” Tim sighs. “It’s pretty popular here, it’s how they mainly make money.”
“Man, B would kill us if we ever live streamed patrols.” Steph laughed at the mere thought of it.
“Not seem safe.” Cass comments.
“Anyway to get back home?” Dick asks the million dollar question.
Tim sighs and shakes his head. “This worlds only information about multiverse is the limited knowledge they have on these gates. As far as I can tell, we would have to wait for the gate to our world open back up.” He informs the group.
“And who knows how long that would be.” Steph rolls her eyes.
Dick takes a deep breath, rubbing his temples. “Okay…so we’re in a world with hunters who go through gates and fight monsters while live streaming and no way to get home.”
“Yep!” Tim nods his head.
“Okay great! Just what I need. can you compile a list of who’s apart of what did you say a guild and who’s friends with who?”
Tim nods his head, getting straight into it.
"Jay, Cass, you two are on recon duty, figure out where we are and we need clothes and food."
The two of them nod their heads. Jason pulls off his helmet and mask, zipping up his leather jacket. Cass pulls of her mask, cape, and costume, just wearing her thin leggings and tank. The two of the head out of the plane, jumping down from the building.
"And what of us?" Damien asks.
"If we're going to lend into this world, we're going to need to know everything we can. What caused the gates to open, how the government works, terms. Everything." Dick states.
The only sound you could hear for the next couple hours we the sound of keyboards clacking and the occasional videos from past live-streams playing.
Jason and Cass soon come back to the plane with bags full of items. Jason was now wearing some black slacks and a grey tshirt with his leather jacket. Cass was wearing navy slacks with a black crop top. They handed them the bags of clothes while they snacked on some groanal bars.
Steph came out wearing a white skirt and a purple shirt tucked in. 'Beautiful' Cass signed.
"Why thank you." She giggled.
Dick was wearing black trousers and a light blue sweater. Damien wore a similar outfit but a dark green button up. Tim wore loose black trousers and a white t-shirt. They packed away their suits in their lockers, next to their training outfits.
"So we're in a place called New Jersey somehow. I think it's where Gotham would be located." Jason breaks the silence once everyone is dressed.
"Does Gotham exist?" Damien asks.
Jason and Cass shake their heads. Jason explains further. "From what I can tell New Jersey is this worlds version of Gotham, just less crime filled."
"From what we've read," Steph joins in. "Gates started appearing about 20 years ago, monsters came out of them and attacking everyone. It wasn't until some people awakened powers from what they call a system and started to fight against the monsters."
"Since then hunters have formed guilds and go through gates to make sure the monsters don't come here and wreak havoc. They sell something called mana crystals and live stream to make money. They can also sometimes sell treasures they find in these gates." Damien added.
A notification pops up on their computer wrists from Tim. "Ive complied a list of all the guilds, whose apart of them, who we should look out for, their powers are just about the same from our world, so fighting against them won't be too hard."
"You're the best Timmy." Dick compliments.
"Also, I don't think our current costumes will be best if we go into the gates, and neither would Jason's guns." Tim stated. "Apparently normal weapons don't work on monsters, and neither would Kevlar, the monsters would easily be able to bite through it."
Jason groans. "Great."
"Well that's if we do go through the gates and get involved." Dick says. "This world is vastly different from our world. Should we even get involved?"
"We should help." Cass comments.
"I think we should. I mean who knows how long we're going to be here." Tim shrugs his shoulders. "It's something we can do, and it'll be a great experience."
"I think we should!" Steph exclaims. "It sounds fun!"
"While I find all of this live streaming to not be heroic, it would further develop our skills and keep us on top of our game." Damien notes.
Jason shrugs his shoulders. "It's up to you Dickie."
Dick lets out an exhausted sigh. He scratches his head. "Alright, we'll be hunters. It'll help us find the gate home."
"Yes!"
"Cool, if you guys can steal some material, I can start designing our new suits." Tim states. "And I'll have to set up our live stream account, see if I can connect it to our wrist computer."
"Don't forget to sleep too baby bird." Jason kisses his forehead.
"Okay, we'll all go get materials for clothes and new weapons, we'll leave the rest up to you Timmy." Dick rubs his hair, also kissing him on the forehead.
