His Scaly Little Problem

Summary:

Ron Weasley came back from the war all tortured and muscular and Draco doesn't know what to do about it. Every time he tries to act on his terribly unwise crush, his heart start to thump, his breath comes out in a wheeze and he turns into a dragon. An adorably tiny little blue one.

Notes:

Prompt:

There's something between Draco and Ron. And they could explore it, if only Draco didn't keep turning into a Dragon every time they tried to figure it out.

Huge thank you to our hosts So_scarlett_maroon and The_Taco_Writes for hosting as well as letting me do art for this one.

Work Text:

Ron was perplexed. The little dragon seemed to show up everywhere. It didn’t seem to be following him but every once in a while, he would turn around and there it was.

Hermione would probably have a fit if she knew it was here, but Ron reasoned that as long as it wasn’t his pet, it was fine. The dragon was wild and who was he to interfere? Of course, if it wanted to jump onto his arm and accept sweet treats he wasn’t going to stop it. The way it purred when he scratched under its chin was addictive.

He loved how it came here just to see him. It made him feel special.

Draco knew he needed to stop or say something, but he couldn’t figure out how. The transformations happened when he was nervous or excited and they just kept happening around Weasley. His ridiculously unadvisable crush on the brash Gryffindor, had escalated to absurd proportions after he’d come back from the war all tortured and muscular.

When Ron had run into the parlour to save Hermione, Draco had almost cried out for them to take him too. He had been so tired and scared. The torture he had received after they had escaped was horrific, but Draco couldn’t regret it. After all, now the war was ended, and Draco was free to try and live again.

Emphasis on try. It was a work in progress.

Now Ron was here looking all sad and positively devourable and Draco’s mind was going into overdrive. He imagined listening to what was getting him down or offering to help with his homework. Though sometimes he imagined taunting him so much that he would push him against the nearest possible surface and ―

NO. No. He wasn’t going to finish that thought. The last thing he needed was to deal with his scaly little problem right now.

Ron was sitting by the forest and staring into the middle distance in that way he so often did these days, and Draco was going to man up and go talk to him.

He stepped out from behind the tree as Ron looked up, but it was too much for Draco. The red hair and the blue eyes holding so much pain behind them made his heart lurch. His skin hardened and his view tilted until he was looking up at him from the ground.

Ron smiled so brightly that it took Draco’s breath away.

“Hey you,” He murmured as he offered his arm.

Draco leapt on with a tiny squeak and melted as Ron’s hands passed over his scales. Draco purred involuntarily, making Ron laugh. Salazar help him he was hopeless! Was it going to be like this forever!? Cock blocked by a family curse so obscure that he was the first Malfoy in centuries to be afflicted.

He pushed his head into Ron’s palm and hated the farce his life had become.

Notes:

I don't care that devourable is not a word. It should be. I was shocked! Shocked I tell you when the dictionary said otherwise. I'm making it a thing. Join the revolution. Viva la devourable. (The revolution is a work in progress. I probably should have printed more pamphlets.)
