💒💒💒

"Why are we doing this, again?" Hyukjae asks, trying to glance over his shoulder at Kyuhyun, but before he can manage it, Donghae catches him and smacks him lightly on the cheek, diverting his gaze before he can see his—

Whatever.

"Because it's fun," Donghae says cheerfully. His hands go back to making a mess of Hyukjae's tie. It looks even worse now than it did when Hyukjae fucked it up ten minutes ago. "Stop trying to look at him. It's bad luck."

"You should've thought about that when you booked us at the same salon for the same time." Kyuhyun calls from a seat at the mirrors. the makeup artist gently hushes him, murmuring something about smudging his lip color onto his teeth. "Sorry, just—And we're going back in the same car. What're we supposed to do? Close our eyes the whole ride?"

"Shut up," Donghae says. "This was all they had available on short notice. And stop looking at him in the mirror! That counts! Mind your own business!"

"You're enjoying this," Hyukjae observes. "Are you sure you don't want to switch with me?"

"Nope!" Donghae chirps. "He proposed to you, not me."

"I like your face better, though! I just didn't think you'd accept!" Kyuhyun calls again, and the makeup artist makes a soft noise like a muffled screech. "Give me a minute, I can propose to you instead!"

"Oppa, please stop talking!"

"Ah, sorry. Sorry, I'm done. I promise."

"See?" Hyukjae says to Donghae. "And I don't mind. The proposal was shitty anyway."

Donghae cackles, clearly remembering it: he'd been on his phone at the dorm's dining table at the time, eavesdropping on Hyukjae and Kyuhyun as they puttered around the kitchen.

"Yah, we already live together," Donghae intones, mimicking Kyuhyun of six hours ago. "We're together all the time, we film content together... Here I am, cleaning up your mess again and—"

"I could've cleaned it up on my own," Hyukjae complains as he finally swats Donghae's hands away from his collar and tries to fix the tie on his own. "I was going to, after I finished—"

"—so why don't we just get married?" Donghae finishes, beaming. "Wow. Good job, Kyuhyun-ah. Where'd you get that from? One of your dating shows? So romantic."

Hyukjae hears Kyuhyun's warm, stifled laughter and rolls his eyes.

"Oh, extremely romantic," he says. "Exactly how I wanted to be proposed to: in the kitchen, by my nagging roommate, with my leech sitting two meters away and our manager in the living room. And you forgot the part where he took it back after I said yes."

"You said Sure, whatever, I guess," Kyuhyun says from much closer than Hyukjae remembers him being. He turns quickly, before Donghae can catch him and stop him from looking at his... fiancé? "It was unenthusiastic. Of course I took it back."

Kyuhyun looks... good, Hyukjae supposes. He usually does. The makeup artist kept his foundation light enough for the texture on his cheeks to show through a little, Hyukjae notes, and finds that it makes him smile. The color at his lips isn't bad, either.

"Go away! Turn around!" Donghae whines, shoving ineffectually at Kyuhyun's shoulder. "Your bride's not ready."

"I keep telling you, I'm not—" Hyukjae starts, but Kyuhyun's voice is louder: "Yeah, 'cause you fucked up his tie! Honestly, hyung..."

"He fucked it up himself first," Donghae grumbles, but sees that Kyuhyun isn't going to budge. "Fine. Can you fix it?"

Kyuhyun eyes Hyukjae skeptically, then snorts. "Nope."

Hyukjae huffs. "You—"

"Just take it off," Kyuhyun interrupts, and in the next moment his fingers are at Hyukjae's throat, undoing the mess of a tie. His fingertips brush Hyukjae's skin so briefly that Hyukjae barely registers it before the touch is gone, and with it, the tie. "See? Better. He doesn't look as stupid."

Donghae's nose wrinkles. "I guess... It's so informal, though..."

"I could've done that," says Hyukjae, once his mouth works again. "Yah, Cho Kyuhyun. I really could've—Is this what our marriage is going to be? Huh? Am I going to be a henpecked husband?"

"A hapless wife is more like it," Kyuhyun retorts, already heading back to the shop entrance. "Are you done already? Donghee-hyung texted me. He already set up the camera and left."

"When did we agree to a camera?" Hyukjae wonders aloud as he trails after them. "Wait—Lee Donghae! Was this you? How many times do I have to tell you? My wedding is not for blackmail! Are you listening to me? And hey, Kyuhyun-ah—!"

💒💒💒

(They don't actually get married, of course. This is all fun and games and silliness. Still, they go back to the dorm in their crisp suits and their tasteful makeup and their perfect hair, Donghae trailing them in a suit he had to stop at home to pick up. Yongsun-hyung has decorated the living room with hastily-bought streamers and gaudy paper flowers, and there are indeed cameras—multiple, because of course there have to be multiple angles—set up in nearly the same places as there were for Omniscient Interfering View.

It's not real, but Yongsun-hyung sits on the couch and looks at them with a helplessly amused, strangely proud smile on his face as Donghae laughs through reading the generic script for a wedding ceremony. Kyuhyun's hands are warm around Hyukjae's as they both struggle to maintain a straight face for long enough to repeat after Donghae. Kyuhyun only lets go when it's time to exchange the rings that they rummaged out from their respective dresser drawers earlier in the day.

Their faces scrunch into matching over-the-top grimaces when Donghae tells them—joyfully, with this almost maniacal grin on his face—to kiss, and they could call it here, they could refuse to do it and play out a breakup, but—

But then Kyuhyun's face smooths out into an expression that Hyukjae can't read, and he leans in first, and what else can Hyukjae do? He belatedly leans up to meet him.

And it's... a kiss. Just a kiss, nothing intense, barely a moment longer than a peck, though it makes Donghae scream-laugh and shove them apart, then pull them both into a hug—

And still Hyukjae's lips tingle and the back of his neck feels so hot, and he looks past Donghae, at the way Kyuhyun tips his head back and laughs, and he thinks about it. Thinks about Kyuhyun always at his elbow in the kitchen, showing him the right way to hold a knife or the best way to arrange meat in a pan, huffing and grumbling but never truly annoyed. Thinks about the easy way they live together, the way they sit beside each other on the couch and the way they knock knees under the dining table. Thinks about how seamlessly they work together and the way conversation flows regardless of whether or not they're on camera.

Thinks about how they fit.

Thinks about the way Kyuhyun glances at him when he thinks Hyukjae isn't looking.

Thinks about the brush of Kyuhyun's fingertips against his throat in the salon.

Thinks about looking up into Kyuhyun's face and seeing a flash of something in his eyes before they kissed just moments ago. Thinks about his smile, his touch, his warmth.

Thinks, and thinks, and thinks, and then thinks:

Ah.)
