Princess

Summary:

Why choose Lane or BB when Scarlette is right there?
or
You kidnap Scarlette to treat her like the princess she is.

Notes:

Yes, this is about Scarlette, BB's bike.
I needed to write SOMETHING for the fandom or else I would have suffered because there aren't enough BBD fanfics to read. Lane and BB just didn't work.

Work Text:

You had options. Many options. And you chose the most terrible outcome.

You are on the run, trying to hide. Which isn't easy when you're pushing a bike that is not made for your, in comparison, tiny figure.
You thought about riding the bike and even asked Scarlette if it would be okay with her. But no. She's too big for you to handle and BB would rip your head off if you hurt her in any way.

Your house is no option, he knows where you live. The store is an obvious no. That would be the first place he would check. While you have considered Lane's house for some time, you know, bringing your trouble to his doorstep as retaliation for all the shit he has done, you aren't sure that there is a good hiding spot for Scarlette.

Which is the number one thing on your imaginary to do list. It is a short list. There is no other task on it. It's not like you could do anything else before that one is taken care of, your life is on the line.

You can't exactly bring her back now. No, you could. Bring her back, apologise, say that you were under the influence because Lane gave you alcohol.
You won't bring her back.
Because you were not under the influence of any drug.
You would not have kidnapped Scarlette while being in your right mind for no reason. You aren't a thief. Correction, you were not a thief.

You could swear she had spoken to you. Not in English. But you heared her pleading. How could you not help a princess in need?

Her glorious sparkle when you first saw her, too stunned to get closer.
Sitting on her and feeling her mighty presence underneath you, begging to be freed.
Your eyes were glued to her until she had driven off and left you standing all alone in front of your door, her crys ringing in your ears, haunting your dreams.

She asked you for help. To be her savior. You know it, you can feel it deep within you. This exceeds any science you know, but it is real.
Or maybe you are delusional, crazy, schizophrenic, insane, having a stroke, who knows. No doctor would take her away from you.

You did what every knight in Bad Dogs' work uniforms do. The right thing.

You heard her call and came to her rescue.
You slayed the dragon. Waited for the right moment BB wasn't with her.
You climbed the tower. Pushed her into the next city over, if your arms speak the truth.

And now she is your princess and you are hers. You belong together. You hear it in the singing of the wind, in the soft and distant grumble of thunder.
The nature gives you its approval.
Why would you need to ask anyone else if you somehow can feel how right this all is?

You had options.

The most obvious one, Lane. Your red flag asshole coworker who does more flirting than work and has no right to be as pretty as he is.

The new one, Biker Boy. Hot, tall, strong, mysterious biker who's face you will never see. He could snap you in half with one blink.

But no.
No.

You chose Scarlette. The mesmerising scarred bike that you have no capability to ride, that you stole and pushed all the way here.
Scarlette, who belongs to said biker who could snap you in half. Did I mention that she is someone special to BB? He would snap you in half if he caught you.

You have no money to buy Scarlette a castle. This old bus stop has to be enough for now. At least it protects her from possible rain. The sky is fully white with clouds and the wind is eerily still. It would rain any moment. You made it in time.

Pushing a heavy bike has drained your energy. You sit down on the bench of the bus station and inhale deeply.

You may have nothing but dirt and scraps in an abandoned bus station right now. But you promise Scarlette that you will give her the world.

Determination overcomes you, fills your every fiber.
You will set things straight. You will straighten Scarlette's life quality to the millimeter.

It begins to rain, and a storm grows loud. The wind is cold and the roof rattles as if it would follow the strong breeze if it pushed slightly harder.

You close the distance to Scarlette and cuddle into her, tracing slow patterns on her cover and whispering soft of a promising future.
It calmes her down and you with it. Your feelings are heavy and passionate, burning to burst out of you. You don't sleep that night. That is the night shift messing with your brain.
You pull your phone out, ignore the many messages and waste your time away.

The heavy rain turns into a light dazzle before it is morning and your usual time to sleep.

Time to get moving. You shut your phone off and pocket it, stretching your arms over your head.

"Good morning Scarlette."
You kneel down and carefully stroke her side. "Wakey wakey, princess. Let's continue our journey."

You lay down your identity and spend every night at a different place.
When you made sure that Scarlette can wait for your return safely, you do shady part time jobs under worse conditions and pay than the night shift at Mad Dogs.
But you fight and persist.
You only buy what is necessary, holding tightly onto every saved coin.

Then, Fortuna bestows a blessing upon you. You find a good paying permanent work place where you can sleep and keep Scarlette safe and sound.
You work hard, climb the ranks, and come out on top. The company owner has a soft spot for you and when they retire, you take their place.

Money is now flowing into your hands and you finally bought that castle that you owed Scarlette. She has eight garages, a garden, and a personal attendant all to herself.

You never forgot about her or your promise. Even now, living a life better than you could ever have imagined back when you worked at Mad Dogs, you visit her whenever you can. You happily read books to her so she sleeps better. You share a blanket in those cruel nights. You talk to her about everything and nothing, all that matters.

One of your workers comes to you at work. They thank you for all you have done for the company and that they want to be the one to tell you about the good news.

They give you a newspaper.

You are surprised to see your face under the headline. You thought you would be shocked. After all, you don't want BB to find you. And now, if he sees this newspaper, he might know your new identity.
BB is going to kill you.
Perhaps he would show mercy if he sees that you treat Scarlette well.

You continue to work hard to make your company better and spend quality time with Scarlette.

Murdered or not, your princess is worth every moment.
