Chapter Text

Pop! Pop! Pop!

You suppress a groan, as you roll over in bed hoisting the covers over your head. You’d think the criminals would have the decency not to have a 2 am shootout outside the Gotham U dorm buildings during midterms, but no they don’t. But hey you got a full ride so you can’t complain. That’s what your roommate’s for as she hollers down at the yahoo’s to quit it before the cops come around.

Everyone knows Gotham cops are the worst.

Without warning your window shatters and glass spills over you. Never have you been more thankful for your thick comforter before. You hear your roommate dropping to the floor to avoid the bullets. You try to carefully make your way to the floor to duck under your bed, trying to ignore the shouts of the gang war below your dorm unit. Among the slew of curses and threats, one cry stands out.

“It’s the bat! Go go go!”

The Batman? You were fairly confident he was just a propaganda tactic. However the gunfire has ceased. Tomorrow morning you’ll blame sleep deprivation for deciding to peek out your busted window. You weave around the shards of glass that landed on the floor and glance through the ripped curtain and catch a glimpse of the fable Batman. You could’ve sworn he acknowledged your presence with a nod. You snap yourself out of it with a sigh and get to work cleaning up the glass and digit ring out how to seal the window up until the maintenance crew can fix it. So much for a good nights sleep.
