Summary
There were a concerning amount of cultivators reported missing. Far more than usual.
In every case Jin Rusong was there. Usually with a broad grin on his face in direct sight of those who had been wronged. Lan Zhan opened the little drawer on his desk to reread the challenge he'd received just today from Jin Rusong only to be distracted by the pile of letters that sat next to it, tied with a red ribbon. He reached for those instead.
The last one was from three months ago. In it Wei Ying claimed he'd finally found what he'd spent the past two years looking for. The final piece of a puzzle he'd been searching for since he'd left on his travels. Lan Zhan didn't know what that piece was, Wei Ying had promised to explain in his next letter. Only, there had been no new letter since.
He thumbed through the pile to the ones on the bottom, creased and tearing from frequent rereads. Those first ones had been awkward and short. Talking about the weather with little sketches of the scenery where ever he was. But over time they grew in length often pages and pages long. He would talk about things he was learning, adventures he went on, people he met.
Then he admitted to missing Lan Zhan.
