Work Text:
Jiwoo and Jinsol had been separated all day.
While they had grown used to their solo schedules, they never left that feeling of missing something—or someone—while enduring a day alone behind in their rookie days.
Not when they both viewed each other as the irreplaceable source of warmth in their lives. Especially on chilly days such as the ones that had been berating them, they began to miss the familiar feeling of one another, shoulder to shoulder, enough comfort within that simple touch to rid of any lingering cold on their fingertips.
So, naturally, after a long day of interviews into video content into solo practice–they found each other again.
Jinsol tilted her head as Jiwoo barreled through the door.
“I’ve got a challenge for you!”
“Not even a hello?” Jinsol replied, meeting the girl’s eyes with that blank face of true adoration.
“Hello, love and light of my life Jinsol. Let's do a challenge.” she deadpanned.
Before the brunette could open her mouth, Jiwoo silently reached over and slipped her fingers into Jinsols, softly intertwining their hands. It was a familiar practice, yet one that still brought butterflies to Jinsol’s stomach with the feeling of slow skin grazing against skin.
Jiwoo quickly led Jinsol over to the corner of their small practice room, grinning widely as the latter simply followed.
“So, basically,” Jiwoo started, slipping her hand out of Jinsol’s and beginning to position the brunette like she was a poster being hung on a wall. “You just have to stay right there. I'll do the rest.”
Jinsol raised a brow, folding her arms across her chest.
“Do I get more context?” she replied. Her tone was an obvious tease, aiming to get an annoyed reaction out of the younger.
“Shush.” Jiwoo grinned.
She placed a quick finger to Jinsol’s lips as she quieted the girl, before fixing her position one last time.
Jinsol stayed silent.
She, only now, had come to the realisation of where she was. She had been so caught up in teasing the younger–as well as admiring the view of her gentle fingers intertwined with her own, and her hands on her waist–to notice the change of mood.
Jinsol shifted in her spot.
She was very clearly, with no doubt, positioned against a wall with Jiwoo set in front of her–eyes quietly piercing her own.
If she was in her normal state, Jinsol would have cracked an immediate joke, or put on some weird act to hide how she was currently shrinking into herself.
But she wasn't.
Jiwoo had that ability to change her entirely, with a single action or even a single word. Jinsol was caught off guard by almost everything Jiwoo said to her.
Pet name? Jinsol went blank.
Goodnight kiss? Jinsol fell asleep kicking her feet.
Centimeters away from her girlfriend pinning her against a wall?
Jinsol’s heart beat loud enough for the both of them to hear it, maybe even echoing throughout the practice room. She cursed the perfect acoustics of it.
“I think it went something like…” Jiwoo trailed off, hands finding Jinsol’s broad shoulders.
And all at once, Jinsol’s back hit the wall, Jiwoo’s hands collided with the concrete behind her, and their faces grew closer than ever.
Jinsol’s glasses began to slip down her nose as she tilted her head slightly to meet the younger’s gaze. It was hidden, eyes creased a little from the growing grin across her face, pure contentment as she watched Jinsol’s frozen reaction.
“That.” she smiled. Jinsol finally let out a soft chuckle.
With both of Jiwoo’s hands resting on the wall beside her, the elder leaned forward to place a soft peck on her lips. Her hair slipped out from where it was tucked behind her ear, a few brown strands falling onto her face and lightly grazing Jiwoo’s cheek as she slowly pulled away.
Their faces remained close enough for Jiwoo to feel Jinsol’s soft breath against her skin. She grinned back, meeting the latter’s eyes like they contained the most beautiful scenery within them.
Everything about Jinsol felt delicate–the way she gently rested a hand on Jiwoo’s waist, and how she tucked a few brown strands back into place to stop them from falling into the girl’s eyes. She accommodated to their height difference like it was clockwork, leaning down so slightly that it would barely be visible to the passerby.
It all seemed so easy to her. Like she didn’t spare a single thought to love Jiwoo with her whole heart and soul, leaving the latter to experience a contentment she never had before.
In the most simplest sense, Jiwoo was desperately, undoubtedly, head over heels.
“I'm not sure what reaction you’re looking for from the fans, but I think you're a bit too cute to make it sexy. Especially in that outfit.” Jinsol remarked. She looked the other up and down, raising a brow at her oversized plaid paired with denim shorts.
Jiwoo stayed silent, eyes quietly tracing the lines on Jinsol’s face before she replied.
“Who said it was for the fans?”
Her words seemed to hang in the air.
Jiwoo’s back stood straight, shoulders raised as much as possible while she still had to tilt her head ever so slightly to reach the brunette.
After a moment of agonisingly slow silence, Jiwoo leaned in, brushing her lips against Jinsol’s ear.
“How does it make you feel?” she asked.
Jinsol’s heart was beating so fast that–if she attempted to answer the question–she was sure it would've fallen out of her mouth then and there.
Though she tried hard to keep her lips shut, it didn't take long for her breathing to become uneven as Jiwoo took one of her hands into her own, peppering quick kisses across it.
She continued her trail upwards, kissing along Jinsol’s forearm to her elbows to her shoulders, silently thanking the sleeveless shirt Jinsol wore. Her lips found the elder’s skin with a certain gentleness that only spread warmth, so soft that they could barely be felt, only for Jinsol to relish in.
Jiwoo finally reached Jinsol’s face. Her eyes locked with the elder’s, a silent conversation erupting through a simple gaze.
Jinsol smiled. Jiwoo let out a laugh.
She cupped the elder’s cheek, pulling her lips in to capture her own. The two met as if they lived out a fantasy of two forbidden lovers, one trapped in the castle of her own mind, the other who made countless attempts to save her.
It was a kiss, nothing more, nothing less.
Only they knew the true depth behind it, the question and the answer. Who saved who–it was up to their own consciousness.
To Jiwoo, the chance to see the woman that she loved so dearly, who could bring a smile to her face with the simplest of actions, was a saviour enough.
To Jinsol, Jiwoo was more than enough. The light at the end of a tunnel, or the knight in shining armour–a reality that pulled her from the nightmare she so constantly fell into.
They parted, the breath that had been held released in a soft giggle. Jiwoo took the chance to place another, tender kiss on Jinsol’s cheek as she regained her composure.
The moment of silence that drew out was comfortable. It didn't beg to be filled, simply there to be admired and spent in utter ease.
“I missed you.” Jinsol murmured, catching the younger’s attention. Jiwoo looked at her, brows furrowed and head tilted slightly, a slight sympathy in her gaze.
“I missed you, too.” she whispered. “Why didn’t I see you today?”
Jinsol met her eyes quietly. Though silence fell over the two, the elder’s hesitance was enough to speak volumes.
“I had to practice.” Jinsol replied, turning her head away.
Jiwoo’s lips fell into a line, eyebrows creasing as she watched the girl before her.
She knew that Jinsol had booked the vocal room for today. She also knew that she had booked it for every day of the week, at the same absurdly late time, even for someone of their career.
Jiwoo’s nights had been filled with waiting for Jinsol to return to the dorm, only to fall victim to sleep before she did. But she still waited nonetheless–each night sat on the couch scrolling through her phone absentmindedly, letting her thoughts wander elsewhere as she did.
Back to Jinsol, hours passing by as if they were seconds, sat behind a closed door that Jiwoo couldn't open.
Back to Jinsol, who was the only one with the key to unlock it.
“Did you?” Jiwoo asked, simple and soft. She silently beckoned for the elder to continue.
Jinsol nodded, avoiding contact with the younger's eyes, still frozen in her spot against the wall.
“We have a lot coming up.” she replied. “I just want to be prepared for anything.”
With no hesitation, the younger took Jinsol’s warm, lipstick covered hand into her own, rubbing a thumb over it. She hadn't met the brunette’s eyes just yet–letting her gaze admire how Jinsol immediately accepted her touch as if it were water to a dying plant.
“I understand that want,” Jiwoo spoke up, tone gentle and hushed. “But your needs should come first, Sol.”
Her fingers left Jinsols, quietly sliding up to loosely wrap her arms around the elder’s neck. And like clockwork, Jinsol’s hands found Jiwoo’s waist, and her head silently fell to nestle into the younger’s shoulder.
“And what you need is a break. From all of this, whatever’s on your mind and whatever’s coming up.” she ran tender fingers through Jinsol’s hair, not missing how the elder’s hands tightened on her waist as she did.
“Let me in, and I can help you forget or face whatever you need. Even if it's just for now.” Jiwoo whispered. Jinsol raised her head, meeting the younger’s determined gaze eye-to-eye.
Her thoughts may have been hidden in the prison she called her brain, but at that moment, Jiwoo caught a glimpse into Jinsol’s pure desperation to let go.
Jiwoo’s lips raised into a soft smile. “Just focus on me.”
From then on, everything was a blur to Jinsol.
She let go of whatever she had been holding onto for god knows how long. As if her whole consciousness took a sigh of relief, she let Jiwoo take the lead she so determinedly asked for.
Jinsol didn’t notice how Jiwoo silently slipped away to close the door with a click. She didn’t notice when she was gently helped up onto the table beside her.
Her senses only seemed to heighten the second Jiwoo slid her hands under her shirt, skin on skin eliciting a short gasp from the elder.
Jinsol’s breathing quickly grew more erratic throughout the moment they shared—which seemed to edge on for hours, each languid kiss Jiwoo placed on her unbearably but thrillingly slow.
“Jiwoo.” Jinsol breathed, the name slipping off the tip of her tongue like it was second nature. The syllables were sluggish, obviously victim to her clouded and otherwise preoccupied mind, turning her tone into an almost plea.
Jiwoo continued to kiss her everywhere. She didn't stop, didn't want to stop–not when Jinsol kept praising her and showering her with words of unfeigned affection.
When Jiwoo’s touch trailed lower, Jinsol’s head hazily fell into her shoulder. She nestled there like the gap left between her shoulder and neck was made for her solely.
The same place she had always withdrawn to when exhaustion grew too much for her limbs, dating back to their trainee days, when nothing but the sound of their heaving lungs echoed through the practice room. Days they dreaded.
Jinsol’s chest now rose and fell as Jiwoo worked, breath brushing across the soft skin of her neck, leaving Jiwoo to be stirred from the feeling herself. But she kept silent in a way that Jinsol had never seen her–focused, absorbed.
Her mind was too preoccupied to notice that Jiwoo’s attention was set on one thing at that moment.
Jinsol.
The way her fingers chose to grip around Jiwoo’s waist instead of the table edge, the way they were the only part of her body that tensed as the rest relaxed under her touch.
Jiwoo was hyperaware of every little reaction she evoked from the elder. She searched for the pleasure within them, changing pace when she saw fit, or focusing her kisses from Jinsol’s lips to her skin.
She leaned closer into Jinsol as she felt her grow more sensitive to her touch–when her gasps heightened, and her reactions turned desperate, feverish.
Jinsol let out soft pleads so close to the younger’s ear that Jiwoo almost felt it echo through her senses.
Maybe it was just her mind’s obsession with the brunette’s voice, but hearing the way she repeated her name would've been enough to drive Jiwoo over the edge just as she did for Jinsol.
The elder bit back a final, drawn out moan, sinking her teeth into Jiwoo’s shoulder instead. The tightened grip around Jiwoo’s waist lingered.
The two simply stayed there, in silence. Jinsol caught her breath as she leant her sweat beaded forehead on the younger’s shoulder. Jiwoo settled her free hand on Jinsol’s thigh to rub gentle circles over it.
“You okay?” she spoke up after a minute, nothing but tenderness strung throughout her tone.
Jinsol replied immediately by wrapping her arms around the other’s waist, pulling her in for a tight hug. Jiwoo stumbled before settling into it herself with a soft laugh.
The brunette’s face was nestled far too deep into her shirt to see her face, but Jiwoo felt her slowly nod. Hesitant, but not in a way that screamed for worry. Simply captivated.
Before Jiwoo could reach to run her fingers through her hair, Jinsol mumbled something.
“What?” the younger fought back a grin. She glanced down to catch Jinsol’s eyes, only to be met with the top of her head. “You might have to take your face out of my shirt if you want to talk to me.” she deadpanned.
Jinsol shuffled, arms still wrapped tightly around the younger’s waist, instead positioning her chin on Jiwoo’s chest to glance up at her.
“Are you still taking requests?” she asked.
Jiwoo shot her a confused look. “For what?”
“You said you'd help face or forget whatever I need.”
“Are you asking to go for a second round? Because–with all the love in my heart–you’ll need to be quieter. It's not as sound proof in here as you might think.”
“Karaoke.” Jinsol simply stated. She wore a slightly offended look, but it was overwhelmed by the pure amusement and tenderness on her face.
“Ah.” Jiwoo laughed. “Sure!”
Jinsol slowly unwrapped from the younger, the loss of touch almost immediately missed. She slipped her hand into Jiwoo’s.
“But maybe we can go with your idea later.”
