Summary
Eleven days after the death of the late Clement VIII, when his funeral rites and ceremonies had concluded, the College of Cardinals finally convened.
Out of the 69 Cardinal electors, 60 were present, each having their own factions and agendas, with favorite candidates and powerful families backing them. Fierce loyalty influences their decisions and their ultimate goal: to elect the 233rd successor to the throne of St. Peter.
