Work Text:
It wasn't too often that Sean took the time to actually wake up Jake in the middle of the night. He slept soundly. Like a lump on a log.
Maybe that's why, once he could process that he was awake, he was mildly alarmed. He blinks a few times, before registering that Sean was actually trying to talk to him as well. Good lord.
“Jaaake,” Sean groans, his voice hoarse with sleep. His hands reach out, still nudging him awake. His hands were hot. Hot and shaking, and clammy with sweat. Jake finally properly wakes up.
“Huh?” He shuffles, sitting up. He shifts himself to face Sean. “You okay?” He asks him.
Sean just lets out a whimper, “I'll be okay,” he mumbles, his hands clenched tightly, fisted into Jake's shirt. That was definitely ringing off even more alarm bells in his brain.
“What's wrong?” Jake asks quickly.
“I feel really lightheaded… can't get up. Can you go grab my heating pad from under the bed?” Sean mumbles out, his voice groggy.
But that was all Jake needed to know, immediately grasping the situation. In simple terms, Sean was on his period. It was nothing that ever bothered Jake, of course.
Sean was always just… Sean. No matter what he was going through. Jake wouldn't see him differently. But he totally would worry about him, and make sure he was feeling alright.
That led to Jake's next question. “That's all you need?” Simple, but effective. It showed Sean he cared. Cared enough to go beyond what was originally requested.
Because, of course Jake would. He'd do anything for Sean. Sean was his best friend, his life, his world.
Sean's quiet for a moment. While he decided, Jake got up from the bed. He crouched down, and stuck his arm under the bed, feeling around till he felt a wire with his hand.
It was that easy, unearthing the heating pad from beneath the bed. He stands back up, plugging it into the wall, and handing it over to Sean, who places it over his lower abdomen.
“Can you get me some painkillers and water?” Sean finally requests.
Jake nods. “Mhm…” he hums. He makes his way across the dorm room, opening the mini-fridge in their kitchenette, grabbing a nice cold bottle of water, and the bottle of pills out of one of the cabinets.
He opens the cap, shaking two into his palm, and closes the bottle back up. He puts it right back where he found it, in the cabinets.
He comes back to bed, handing Sean the pills, and opening the water before handing it to him. He settles back down, watching Sean take the painkillers, and graciously chug down the entire bottle of water.
“You feel a bit better?” Jake asks, taking the empty bottle from him, and setting it on the side table by the bed. Sean just nods, and scoots closer.
Jake takes it as a silent invitation to wrap his arms around Sean. He hugs him. Sean just wraps his entire body around him, the heating pad pressed in-between him.
Sure, the heat is uncomfortable. But if Sean could endure the pain he was for multiple days, then Jake could endure a few uncomfortable nights.
It's not too uncomfortable though of course, because soon enough, Jake dozes off once more into a deep slumber, Sean curled up against him. In each other's arms.
