John leaned in close, the knife cool against the bruised skin of 1x1’s cheek. The blade’s edge traced a line with almost surgical precision, just enough pressure to leave a sting, a thin red line marring his skin, though not deep enough to bleed.
Their eyes met—John’s gaze steady, unreadable, like he’d seen far worse and would do far worse without blinking. “I’ll spare you,” he said softly, voice barely above a whisper. “But only ‘cause of how pitiful that was. I could get a damn fortune for turning you in, no doubt about it. You’re wanted, everyone knows it.”
He tilted the knife slightly, forcing 1x1 to hold his gaze. “But I’m feelin’ merciful tonight.”
