Zapped Numbness

Summary:

Pikachu likes to zap Blue whenever he got close to Red.

Notes:

A short but sweet fic. While writing this, I found out the voltage of a static shock is fucking high, like SHOULD KILL YOU HIGH! But it happens so quick it doesn't. I really thought the voltage was small lmao.

Work Text:

Zap

Blue yanked his hand away from Pikachu. For some reason, the electric mouse had gotten into the habit of giving him small shocks. More so since he had started getting close to Red after his return from Mt. Silver.

"Ow, shit!" He said loudly, stepping away from Red and Pikachu.

"Can't you tell him to stop?" He asked. Red looked at Blue as he petted Pikachu.

"He's only playing, he likes you," Red replied. Pikachu nuzzled Red's hand before jumping onto his shoulder and gave him a small shock. Blue watched them closely.

"It doesn't bother you?" Blue asked. Red shook his head. Blue should have expected as much. Red and Pikachu had been close for a long time, why wouldn't he be use to the static shocks. Blue looked down at his hand, a numb tingle had started to form. Blue wondered if this was what Red felt all the time. Not wanting to feel this numbness more, he shifted away from Red, ever so slightly. Thankfully Red nor Pikachu noticed. For the rest of the evening, they two continued to talk while Blue made sure didn't get close enough for Pikachu to shock him.

"I'm going to head back to the Gym, I'll see you around," Blue said as he turned away from Red.

"Oh, okay. Meet up tomorrow?" Red asked. Blue gave a short shrug.

"Maybe," Blue replied before he walked off.

The next day, Blue didn't leave the Gym after closing up after the last trainer left. Instead he sat in his office, running a finger over his hand that still felt numb. Until it hand felt normal again, he wouldn't see Red. He didn't want to risk the numbness to get worst.

His phone buzzed.

He picked it up and saw Red had sent text, asking why Blue wasn't meeting up with him.

Blue: Still working, won't be able to hang out today, maybe tomorrow.

Red: I can come help?

Blue: Thanks but I'm okay.

Blue watched the texting bubbles appear for a moment before disappearing. Whatever Red was typing, he'd read later. He put his phone down and stood, heading to the door.

The door knob started to turn on it own.

Blue let out a gasp since he assumed he was the only one at the Gym. He backed away from the door as it opened.

"Red?" Blue said with another gasp. He leaned on his desk and watched Red rush over to him and place both hands on either side of Blue.

"What's wrong? You've dropped work in the past to hang out. Have I done something wrong?" Red asked. Blue felt his cheek burn with how close they were. He quickly checked Red's shoulders, Pikachu wasn't out.

"I-" He started, rubbing his numbed hand with his thumb.

"I don't like being shocked. My hand has gone numb. But you find it funny," He said, shortly. Red looked down at Blue's hand.

"Oh." Red whispered.

"I'm sorry, I'm so use to it, that I forgot how painful his shocks could be," he added, took hold of Blue's hand and raised it to his lips.

"The numbness from the cold is much worst for me," Red explained before he kissed Blue's fingers. The blush on Blue's cheeks deepened.

"I'll do this until the numbness goes away. And I'll tell Pikachu to stop shocking you."

"Thank you. And no more kisses once my hand is better?" Blue asked with a light chuckle that was cut off when Red kissed him.

"You'll get more of these kisses."

"I'd like that," Blue said in a soft whisper. He enjoyed someone wanting to take care of him, more so when it's Red.
