Chapter 1: Regular School Day

Chapter Text

"Hello Peter Parker." a mysterious voice called.

I open my eyes slowly to the strangers voice only to immediately regret it as I was greeted with bright lights flashing my vision. I slowly open my eyes again and take in my unfamiliar surroundings, my heart rate increasing as I lay eyes with an old looking man with a set of tools right next to him. He had a white coat on, covering most of his body. On the coat near the shoulder area was an emblem that displayed a red skull with tentacles sticking out of it.

"W-what? Who are you? Where am I?" I cried, realizing I was tied to some kind of bed. Metal rings surrounding me. I tried to break through with my super strength but to no avail.

"You're at your new home moy dragotsennyy. And for who I am, you can just call me Dr.T" (my precious the man standing next to my bed replied.

Tears brim my eyes as each breath I took in felt like anxiety shooting down my spine. My senses were being overwhelmed as well. From the blinding lights with a deafening buzz sound, to the metallic smell of blood wafting through the cold air.

"What? T-this is not my home, I-I please, just let me go back home. Back to my parents." I begged, hoping it would at least do something to appease to the man. It did not.

"Oh no can do my little rebenok-pauk" (spider child) the man mentioned. "However, please be comfortable with your new guardian who will be taking care of you from now on. Soldat, please come forth" (soldier) the man answered.

I start to feel my senses getting weaker, numb, and my eye lids feel like that of heavy chained weights. I saw whoever the man called come into the room as I passed out. The only thing I could really remember/see being noticeable about the person being it was a man with brown hair, stubble, and a metal arm.

"Hey, Peter!" I heard my friend Ned yell behind me at my locker.

"Hey man, what's up?"

"Nothing much, but hey do you think you could hang out later today? We can do a Star Wars movie marathon and stuff!"

I nervously scratched the back of my neck before answering, "Sorry Ned. I have work later today.

And Thursday. And Friday... However, then I'm off and free!"

Ned looks at me with a little bit of a disappointed look before quickly shaking it off and giving an overly exaggerated annoyed groan. "Ughhhh, why do you even work so much anyways? You're only 15, shouldn't that... be like, illegal? Plus, why do you need to be earning money anyways?" he questioned.

I give a bit of an anxious laugh before stating,

"Nope, as long as I have permission from my guardian then I can work. Also, I just uh, like money you know? Makes the world go round."

He looks at me for a bit before sighing and accepting my response. I secretly take in a breath of relief in mind as I really didn't want Ned pushing onto why I actually need money. It's a bit difficult when the only person alive in your family is your aunt who has to work multiple jobs at once just to still barely scrape by. I can at least help with this job, granted it's difficult to maintain with school, Spider-Man, and the SI internship. Although, who said life was easy? I don't even remember half of my life, but that's just probably because I have really bad memory and I didn't really have a very memorable childhood.

Suddenly, the bell rang jumping me out of my thoughts.

"You ok man? You looked like a space cadet in your thoughts man. What were you thinking about?"

"Oh, uh, nothing much. Just uh, t-the math test we have today in Mr. Wilson." I replied, silently cursing at myself for nervously messing up my words.

However, Ned thanktully didn't seem to notice as he groaned loudly which garnered the attention of a couple of people around us before replying,

"Yeahhh, I completely forgot about that test man.

But, hey, I'm sure we're both ace it. Right?"

I laugh, giving him a reassuring nod before telling him, "Yeah, for sure. Now let's get to homeroom before we're late and I get detention again".

Ned laughs as we walk to homeroom mentioning,

"Yeah, you're tardy so often it's almost a surprise when you are on time."

I give him a slight punch to the arm as we arrive at our homeroom class and sit down. School wasn't the worst thing in the world, but certainly not the best. I just tuned out most of my classes except for science and math. Although, even those classes I sometimes doze off in because I already know everything they're teaching.

The bell signaling for the end of homeroom rings and I begrudgingly get up to start the school day.

Luckily, it didn't go that slowly, and I find myself with myself in the cafeteria looking for my friends.

"Hey, Peter! Over here!" I hear Ned call out from our usual lunch table.

I smile, walking over to him. Although, as I am I get shoved to the side by someone passing by. I look up already knowing who it is. Blonde haired Flash.

"Hey Penis Parker, sorry, were you going to get some food to eat? You should go ask your parents to just make you lunch from now on. But, oh, wait, you don't have any." Flash remarks giving me a mock sympathetic look before socking me in the eye. I fall down on my butt on the cold cafeteria floor. He and his gang leaves laughing as Ned comes up to help me, followed by MJ. I smile when I see Ned accompanied by MJ, nearly forgetting the black eye now forming.

"Dude, are you ok? Should we take you to the nurse's office?" Ned asked with concern in his voice.

"No, I'll be fine, just a black eye and all. I get worse on patrols." I lied as I stand back up. Rubbing the area that hurts slightly.

I never get hurt on patrols. Mostly due to my spidey-senses and fast ability to respond to it. Luckily, Ned and MJ know about Spider-Man, so I can use that as an excuse with my enhanced healing to say I've handle this kind of things before and that it's not a problem. I mean, even before I was Spider-Man I've been dealing with Flash since, like, the second I step foot into this school. So yeah, I can handle a little black eye as I've been dealing with shit like it for like, forever. Granted, forever being two years as again, I don't really remember life much before high school.

"You sure loser? You look like a goth person trying to be edgy." I hear MJ ask, which makes me happy hearing her voice that I almost forget to even answer her question.

"O-oh yeah man I'll be fine. In fact it'll probably be healed by tomorrow and stuff. I'll just have to hide it from Aunt May and stuff." I respond giving a nervous chuckle.

Ned and MJ both look at each other before shrugging it off and doing their own respective things.

MJ reading a book while eating lunch and Ned rambling about some new topic everyday eating his lunch. Then suddenly mid le, Ned stops and looks down at food less infront of me. "You want some of my food? ot that hungry, so you can have some of it. h't your enhanced healing work better with in your system anyways?" Then, MJ slides her lunch closer to me as well, while still reading her book though. I appreciate the kind gestures, but quickly refuse them. "Oh, please no. It's fine, really. I'm not that hungry. And yeah, it does work better with food, but it can still function well without it. I'll have some food at home sob please, eat." I lied again.

Ned and MJ give each other another look before deciding not to push it and go back to what they were originally doing. I take a quick sigh of relief as I half listen to what Ned is rambling on about again. I didn't want to lie to Ned and MJ, but I also didn't want them to sacrifice their food just for me. A little hunger never killed anyone, right?
