Chapter Text
"it's been so long since we hung out like this!" mina exclaimed, clapping her hands together enthusiastically as she glanced around the table at her five friends, all of whom were occupied with shoving ramen down their throats.
"man, i'm just glad exams are over," kaminari breathed out, though his eyes began to well with tears soon after. "even if i did fail everything..."
"this is a celebration, don't be gloomy!" kirishima said, patting the blond boy on his back in an attempt to cheer him up. sero chimed in soon after, "yeah, i missed us spending quality time together like this."
jirou took a sip of her diet coke, then hastily added, "well, it has been a tough year."
all of a sudden, a certain blond red-eyed male's phone started ringing — so loudly that the entire table turned to look at him. however, not one person looked surprised; in fact, mina rolled her eyes and jirou sighed, with the other three boys awkwardly glancing between each other.
bakugou katsuki's eyebrow twitched in irritation when he lifted his phone up and pressed the green button, before attaching the device to his ear. "what?"
mina and jirou sent each other exasperated looks, communicating through their gazes. the pink girl then turned to kirishima and shook her head slightly, with the red-head shrugging in response. nobody knew what to say, but everybody knew what was going on.
as expected, bakugou grumbled underneath his breath and said, "i'm at this ramen place."
a few seconds of silence.
then, again as expected, he rolled his eyes and stated, "of course i'm with earphone jack and raccoon eyes, they're my classmates—"
more silence, more buzzing sounds coming from the other end of the line.
mina looked at jirou and whispered, "i give it ten seconds."
the dark haired girl rolled her eyes. "make that five."
as predicted, bakugou stood up, muttering something into the phone before turning it off and stuffing it into his jeans. he then took his wallet out, slammed a few bills on the table, and turned to head towards the exit. "gotta dip. she wants to hang out."
"of course she does." mina mumbled, refusing to meet bakugou's gaze as she took an irritated sip of her drink.
the blond male sighed, turned, and left.
it was only when he was successfully out of earshot that mina slammed her glass down on the table in frustration and exclaimed, "i fucking hate her!"
the atmosphere at the table immediately lightened, but regardless, everybody could still feel the slight tension that was present in the air. it was a normal occurrence, so much so that it irritated everyone quite often... especially ashido mina, who did not care about keeping her thoughts to herself.
"we don't like her either." jirou grumbled, placing her chin on her palm. "but she's bakugou's girlfriend, there's not much we can do."
"girlfriend? more like captor." mina retorted, throwing her hands up in frustration, "the only reason he's in that damn relationship is because she's been blackmailing him for months!"
"isn't it just because their parents are super close?" kirishima questioned, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly, "and like, they promised they'd get along so the decades old friendship isn't ruined, or something?"
"it's still blackmail," kaminari stated firmly, folding his arms over his chest and jutting his lower lip out in a playful pout. "ever since they started dating, bakugou hasn't hung out with us at all without her interrupting. she literally stole our friend away!"
"we still have to be respectful," sero hesitantly added. "what if he actually likes her?"
"does it look like he likes her?" jirou sarcastically asked, her annoyance evident through the edge her tone had taken on without her realising. "he constantly called her a bitch and a nuisance, all of a sudden they started dating? he hates her, he just can't do anything about the situation."
"and any time we bring her up, he says it's none of our business!" mina yelled, her grip around her glass tightening with every passing moment. "aren't we his friends? we can help get that annoying snake away from him!"
"calling her a snake seems a bit excessive," kirishima chimed, only for mina to add, "no, that's exactly what she is. do you know what kinda insane shit she's said to my face before? she flat out called jirou and me sluts once just because we're friends with bakugou... like what? plus she's a psycho stalker with no morals, and i'm saying this as a damn hero!"
"we can't do anything about it though, mina," sero frowned, rubbing the side of his face in defeat. "no matter how frustrating it is, there really isn't anything we can do to help him except be supportive."
"actually..."
kaminari's ominous tone had everyone at the table looking at him in curiosity, their brows cocking up at what he would say next. after a moment, he continued, "wouldn't the best way for him to break up with her be him falling for someone else?"
there was silence.
then laughter. loud, maniacal laughter that had other tables looking over at theirs in confusion — still, though, the laughter did not stop, even when kaminari frowned and his shoulders slumped sadly.
"yeah right," jirou giggled, wiping a stray tear from her eye, "as if that would ever happen."
-
"i'm sick of her."
"aren't we all?" kyoya said, in a rather bored tone, his gaze still intensely focused on the book he was reading. his legs were crossed underneath him, back resting against one of the walls of the massive art room inside musutafu school of art and design.
a few feet away from him, propped up on a desk with her legs swinging back and forth, sat yuuki, who immediately frowned and asked, "wait, did she do something again?"
you paused, paintbrush hovering right above the surface of the canvas you were painting on. your lips pursed slightly into a pout and you mumbled, "she splattered paint on my notes."
yuuki jumped onto her feet, her eyes going wide. "what the fuck?! when was this?"
kyoya shut the book he was reading, his beady eyes peaking over his glasses to send you a firm, intense stare. "why didn't you tell us before she left?"
"what can we even do about it?" you sadly asked, continuing to paint strokes of red on the white canvas. "she's so damn full of herself, and she uses every opportunity to threaten me with the fact that she has a hero boyfriend at UA."
"no one cares about her stupid boyfriend! in fact, if he's a hero, shouldn't he notice that she's a fucking bully?" yuuki exclaimed in frustration, her pigtails swaying slightly as she stormed over to you. "we need to teach her a lesson! she can't keep picking on you for no reason!"
you smiled. "it's fine, i already cussed her out a bunch."
"cussing her out isn't enough." she stated, placing her hands on her hips. "we need to chop her hair off while she sleeps, or something."
"seems a bit extreme."
"she deserves it! she's been doing this shit for the past three years!"
kyoya, who had been silently listening to the conversation unfolding, pushed his glasses further up the bridge of his nose and finally said, "i agree with yuuki. shinohara misaki deserves to know that her actions have consequences."
dunking your paint brush in a cup of water, you wiped your hands on your apron and moved towards the sinks placed at the far back of the room. "there's not much we can do when she has a goddamn hero backing her up."
"i bet she's lying about having a UA boyfriend," yuuki grumbled, "i mean, she's pretty and all, but her personality would put anyone with a conscience off, let alone somebody who arrests villains for a living."
"no, he's definitely real," kyoya stood up, dusting his pants off slightly, "i saw him waiting for her outside school once."
"what?!" you and yuuki both exclaimed, eyes widening in shock at the abrupt revelation. the blue-haired girl continued to bombard the man with questions, offended that he hadn't told them this sooner, "what do you mean? what did he look like?! is he hot? strong?! tall?!!!"
kyoya leaned back, his nose scrunching in distaste. "he looked normal, but there was a crowd of girls around him almost immediately. he didn't look friendly though, i'm pretty sure i heard him swearing at them."
"interesting." yuuki said slowly, before turning to face you and saying, "i think that's the only way we can get back at her for all the years of bullying."
you snorted, running your hands under the stream of water erupting from the tap. the clear liquid turned light red as it washed the paint off of your skin, dying the sink the same bright colour as well. "what, by breaking them up?"
"why not?" yuuki grinned evilly, plan already formulating in her head, "if we expose what a bitch she really is to him, i'm pretty sure he isn't gonna wanna stay with her."
kyoya shook his head, but said nothing.
you, however, immediately laughed, turning the water off as you sent yuuki a smile over your shoulder. "yeah, right. as if that would ever work."
