Chapter 1
Shen Wenlang notices that something is off the moment he steps onto the campus ground. He feels the stares and hears the silent whispers but can’t pinpoint what has happened within the week he has been away in P country. He is used to being avoided most of the time, either out of fear or respect for being a S-Level Alpha. Usually, one of his glares is enough to shut the others up but whatever caused the change seems to have a bigger impact on his classmates.
Shen Wenlang quickly packs his things into his bag once the professor dismisses their class. He tries to leave the room before his annoyance reaches the maximum when he gets stopped by a group of four, seemingly Betas and Omegas, at the door. They look at him nervously, trying to find the courage to speak to him.
“Why are you blocking my way?”, he asked looking at the group in front of him. Seconds passed by without an answer. The four Betas and Omegas exchange glances, urging the other to be the first to speak up. “Make way and don’t waste my time”, Wenlang raises his voice, patient running thin and was about to push through the group when one girl raises her hand and shoves the letter she was holding into his. “Can you give this to senior Gao Tu for me?”
The other seeing that one of them has found the courage to ask the infamous devil of the campus, quickly follow suit shoving their letters into Wenlang’s hand. “Please give our letters to senior Gao Tu.” They then run away before Wenlang can understand what has happened. His gaze wanders down to the four letters he is now holding. He lifts his hand to take a better look at them and unknowingly his frown deepens. Wenlang stares at the letters for another few seconds, not understanding where his annoyance is exactly coming from.
Why did he suddenly turn into the mail carrier of the student council? If they wanted to get something delivered, they could just put it into the designated mailbox. He even contemplates whether to just throw them away but decides against it in case those letters contain important information Gao Tu might need. Wenlang knows better not to get on Gao Tu’s bad side by destroying student council documents. Doing it once was enough to get ignored by the other for more than a week. He doesn’t dare imagine how long he would be getting ignored as a repeat offender. Besides, it has already been 9 days 16 hours and 25 minutes since they have last seen each other due to his absence.
Thinking about Gao Tu his mood significantly improves. Wenlang stops by the vending machine to grab Gao Tu’s favourite lemon juice before making his way to the student council office.
Wenlang walks in without knocking like he has been doing for the last two years and finds Gao Tu leaning back against his seat, eyes closed, taking a nap. His gaze softens watching the other sleep, probably from exhaustion from his part time job at the convenience store during the weekend. Wenlang quietly puts the lemon juice down on the desk, takes out the blanket from the bottom drawer, he insisted Gao Tu keep in the office, and gently covers the other with it. He sits down on the opposite side of the desk, crosses his arms on top and rests his head on them. His eyes stay on the sleeping Omega in front of him, watching him sleep peacefully. Seconds, Minutes or hours could have passed by, Wenlang wouldn’t know.
His gaze only wanders off when he notices that someone has entered the office. Chen Pinming, one of the other council members, walks unsurprised into a familiar scene, holding onto a bunch of letters he has retrieved from the mailbox outside their office. Without disturbing Gao Tu’s sleep, Chen Pinming sits down at his own desk to sort out the letters including the ones Wenlang has received and thrown on his desk when he came in earlier.
Shen Wenlang once again divers his attention from the sleeping Omega to the other when Chen Pinming suddenly places down what seem like 15-20 letters on top of Gao Tu’s desk. Each of the letters’ envelope are colourfully decorated. Some of them even have hearts drawn on them. Wenlang raises his brow and looks at Chen Pinming with bewildered eyes that scream “What the hell are those letters?”
“Love Letters”, Chen Pinming whispers with an awkward smile and points towards an even bigger pile of letters at the corner of Gao Tu’s desk.
Shen Wenlang swears his ears were betraying him. No way did he hear Chen Pinming whisper the words ‘Love Letters’. But if his ears do work correctly, does that mean that Gao Tu has received what … about a hundred love letters while he was gone?!
Once again Shen Wenlang wonders what happened during the week he was in P country
