Work Text:
Time stopped the moment his emerald eyes stare at the screen with awe, realizing what was waiting for him for the rest of this journey.
Don’t get him wrong, the freckled man was aware of the changes in his body after the amazing news that brightened his days since his husband’s sudden departure for an overseas mission. This order caught them off guard, but even the great Dynamight couldn’t reject this request if this meant keeping his family safe….
Izuku sighed, resting his head against the exam table in the silent room. His glance lost itself in the distinct posters, covering the gray of the walls, marked by time. He remembered the first time he went to this place with apprehension, but the recurrence became his source of comfort for a loneliness like his. After all, he liked his job but the atmosphere of the house was odd without the familiar figure making stupid comments about the bags under his eyes or stolen kisses. There wasn’t a day passing by where the freckled man missed his husband, but he needed to keep the secret a little longer if he wanted to create a full surprise reaction!
The coldness of the ultrasound probe against his skin brought him back to reality when he became aware of the sudden footsteps in the room. The omega had nothing against the younger man taking care of his pregnancy journey, especially when he knew about his conditions and the curious happenstance that guided a solitary soul like his, in a place like this one. The doctor was a man reaching his thirties, with apparent brown hair and fresh hands holding the medical material with enough precision to indicate how confident he was in his gesture.
Izuku easily guessed that this stranger was probably taking the lead after his father stopped the job, and this place was a family affair they’d had for decades. This simple detail might be meaningless for the others, but important enough for Izuku and his trust toward this professional who’ll guide him all along. The loud conversation of people in the garden outside the building and constant reminders of open doors in the isolated environment reflected the popularity of this place, especially on a calm afternoon like this one. Getting an appointment with a short delay was a miracle for the freckled man, but all his worries simply faded away when his glance softened at the picture on the ultrasound scanner.
Izuku Bakugo Midoriya had seen many paintings that caught his attention but one of his favorites was the rising blush on his childhood friends during their wedding, acting like teenagers while wearing golden rings on their fingers, a symbol of a new beginning for their crazy journey. The freckled man was able to transcribe each symbol of that beautiful landscape with a delicate pen, brightening each detail with a timeless ink on those blank pages, welcoming his narratives. The omega was conscious about him being a muse for his favorite painter, who couldn’t hesitate to whisper how gorgeous he looked under a midnight sky in a discreet town.
However, none of the previous examples compared to the one standing a few meters away from him, captivating his entire attention. The gray apparition of the tiny human on the screen immediately brought a slight smile to his face. He recalled the first time he realized his crazy situation, still unbelievable to this point, and yet…it didn’t stop him from being an emotional mess. A simple glance was enough to see how this child residing in the womb was his everything, despite being only two months old at the moment. He was Izuku’s biggest treasure and couldn’t wait to let his mate know about the amazing news, knowing how the stubborn alpha would probably be a sobbing mess, but it was the natural charm of this man who offered him the world at the palm of his hand.
“Looks like everything is fine here,” the doctor explained with an understanding tone after making the last check, offering a better angle to his patient. No matter how long the freckled man stared at the screen and had solid proof of his pup, his heart would have a hard time believing that someone as tiny as this little bean was residing there. The omega made it a personal duty to transform this womb into the most comfortable place for the next months, and prepare everything for the arrival of this miracle that’ll probably transform the rest of their lives into unforgettable prose on those delicate poems that escaped the couple’s lips on the altar. “Did anything strange happen since the last time? Making constant checks is important, even at this early stage of the process.”
“Not that I can remember,” Izuku pointed out, noticing how the taller man replied with a nod. It was pretty touching to see people taking his case seriously, especially when most of the omegas were pushed aside due to some societal norms. Izuku had been a victim of some comments, but he secretly hoped that his child wouldn’t have to face the injustice of some stupid heads, who like to spread unjustified hate. “Are there any signs I should be worried about ?”
“I would’ve already given you some warnings if it were the case, but keep in mind that updating us about something unexpected is considered a necessity. In all honesty, you shouldn’t get worried about that, from what I’ve seen your child is doing great and their heartbeat is pretty reassuring for an embryo of this age,” he added with a soft tone, catching the previous fear in the omega’s voice. It wasn’t the first time he had seen a patient being worried about their legacy’s state, and it was honorable to see how many parents were ready to sacrifice their own lives for their family. “You should probably feel the first movements in the second semester, around the fourth month. Do you have any questions for this appointment ?”
“Not really, just gratefulness to know everything’s fine,” the freckled man affirmed with a light nod as the taller man explained it was time to return to the previous room to prepare their next meeting. The doctor closed the door to let his patient regain his calm and put his scent patch back on his neck, leaving him alone with his thoughts. Before leaving, the taller man offered him the physical echography of the breathtaking painting he had seen a few seconds ago, making the omega smile once he left the building, with scarred hands wrapped around his stomach. “You and I are stuck on a long journey, little bean.”
The news about the specific time concerning the first movement reassured the concerned omega, praying his husband would be there to celebrate. After all, Dynamight was adored by the population, but one knew how the taller man had a hard time accepting this sudden distance between each day his childhood friend and him. The two of them hadn’t been away from each other since their high school days, and the fear of facing a grave always haunted their mind, but Izuku needed to stop thinking about worst-case scenarios. The last message he received from his husband indicated that the job was alright and the heroes had made progress in catching the villain who caused all this mess.
The scarred hands rested against his nonexistent baby bump, wondering if the pup was able to feel this warmth through the layers of their dam’s clothes and skin. This miracle was everything the couple expected for their journey, and it felt wrong to lie to the man he loved. Indeed, the freckled man wanted to create the perfect surprise once his husband returned home after his long depearture, but the wait was worth the try if this meant seeing his husband’s smile again.
—---
The cold key met the lock of the door as the familiar figure appeared in the calm neighborhood. The sunrise had already fallen in this gorgeous landscape, brightening a distinct shade of orange and light orange, contradicting the previous brightness of the day.
The fresh wind ruffled the lost curls on his forehead as the shorter man entered the house, taking his shoes off and casting a glance at the void house near his reach. This silence became his bittersweet welcome since his mate left on the other side of the world for an unexpected order from the agency, transforming those tender reunions into temporary goodbyes. He wasn’t afraid, he knew, the great Dynamight wouldalways return home to his loved ones.
In all honesty, seeing such a place being highlighted by a heavy silence was heartbreaking, but the omega counted the days separating him from the casual “welcome home, freckles” that always brightened his days.. Izuku recalled the moment he held the positive test in his shaking palm one week later, with tears falling down his cheeks and the selfish wish to have his childhood friend by his side to celebrate the news..
Izuku wasn’t mad at Katsuki for accepting this sudden request, and he was comprehensive about this rushed decision. The married couple knew it had to happen one of these days, but the omega expected this pregnancy reveal to happen with the man who knew his darkest secrets. The shorter man was sad to be on his own, but he knew his lover was saving lives on the other side of the world. That’s why he decided to make a promise: to transcribe this genuine excitement and happiness into an unforgettable moment once his childhood friend returned home.
Emerald irises lost themselves in the closest pictures, recalling the joy residing in those timeless frames. Their journey started with two babies meeting each other at a random happenstance that’ll signal the beginning of their favorite tale. In all honesty, the freckled man didn’t recall any of those memories, due to their early existence being forgotten with time, but he liked the stories about how baby Izuku and Katsuki refused to let each other go since they were in diapers.
This event unconsciously led the two women to meet, becoming the best of friends and standing by each other’s side during their sons’ wedding, with a proud expression on their faces. The oldest memories related to these two babies who grew up and became children with distinct personalities: Izuku was the one following his best friend everywhere he went, and Katsuki was the source of amazement in the omega’s eyes. Their numerous outings in the forest proved how much time they’ve spent with each other, no matter if the weather was brightened by a blinding sunlight or a snowflake on the ground.
At this point, Inko and Mitsuki weren’t surprised to see how the two boys stayed together in every situation possible, especially during their sleepovers with their lost conversations, about future projects. Katsuki Bakugo was made to be the best hero of the decade, especially with his quirk! The smaller blond transformed this praise into a personal goal to reach, under one condition: have his best friend by his side to create their own agency and be the best duo this town had ever seen.
Izuku’s eyes always softened when he realized how the taller boy was describing him as the smartest sidekick in the toughest missions, even if the imaginary rivals differed from the ones expecting them in real life. Their naive spirits prepared many plans for their future, making a pinky promise to help each other and be there if things go wrong. None of them knew how fate would mock their naivety by turning this touching bond into a complex one by imposing a tough obstacle on their way: Middle school.
The simple mention of this period of their lives succeeded in bringing back old sentiments that the couple wanted to keep hidden. Don’t get them wrong, Izuku and Katsuki talked thousands of times about this specific period of their journey and how it was devastating for both of them, but it was evident how Katsuki had a hard time believing he was completely forgiven. After all, he said and did horrible things to his childhood friend, breaking their beloved pinky promises that made their dynamic unique until now. This sudden distance between them hasn’t been easy to handle, especially when old promises started to mix with new insecurities, often leading to tears rolling down their porcelain skin. The previous laughs and numerous secrets shared between them belonged to the past, forcing them to accept a reality where the person they trusted the most became nothing but a blurry frame of their narrative.
During years, Izuku got used to this idea of being the target of his best friend, who used to cover him with praise, but his gentle words twisted into venom each time their eyes met in this cursed classroom. Back in the day, one dared to make a move or have a heart-to-heart conversation about this sudden change between them, even when they were able to read this mutual sadness on the other’s face, caused by different reasons.
If Izuku became the puppet of this cruel fate, Katsuki was forced to see the irreversible damage he caused to his best friend after noticing the presence of scars that weren’t there before. He’ll never forget the moment his eyes met this brushed skin and the heartbreaking sign of more injuries, hidden with a distant glance.
Katsuki Bakugo never forgave himself for being the cause of Izuku’s pain, especially when the person he despised in his middle school years, used to be his confidant. He tried to apologize as many times as possible, even at their big age and established relationship, but Izuku always offered reassurance when he didn’t deserve any of this. The recurrent nightmare of seeing the lifeless body of his best friend on the floor after he followed his advice occupied his mind, under a concerned Izuku, who faced the tears falling down his husband’s cheeks after another apology.
Izuku eventually mentioned how the sludge accident also caused irreversible damage concerning his fear of death, letting his mate know how they were together in this mess. The blond often said that his lover was too nice to accept a cursed soul like his, but he naturally fell for those caring emerald eyes who looked at him as if he were his everything, despite the delicate rings standing on their fingers. Their conversations often lit up once they reached the topic of their high school years, being the marking point of where their relationship, took an unexpected turn.
None of them planned to experience so much trauma when they walked into this classroom with dreams and a sentiment of rivalry. Their second chance and reconnection happened in the most natural way after many misunderstandings, especially after this secret fight that left them with the chore for two endless days, under their classmate's surprised glances. This event brought them closer, but everyone recognized how Izuku Midoriya became inseparable from his childhood friend, who has slowly regained his unique title of best friend, the same one he lost years ago due to his previous stupidity. After the wars and the obvious scars on their bodies, the two teenagers had no other choice but to stand by each other’s side, afraid to wake up beside a lifeless body drowning in its own blood.
The public apology made by the blond after all those years and the heartwarming conversation they shared at the hospital succeeded in compensating for the fears of Katsuki’s kidnapping and Izuku’s sudden disappearance. This meaningful promise they signed on the hospital bed helped them to reconnect in a more intimate way, where each gesture represented a direct symbol instead of using words their hearts wouldn’t understand yet. The friendship they cared about was now transformed into a golden thread, stronger than any obstacles they’d faced until now. Katsuki’s support brought a smile back to Izuku’s face, who appreciated how their forgotten plans became their main priorities.
However, the memories the couple preferred the most were probably their night escape. It started as something as simple as a teary Izuku standing in front of Katsuki’s dorm, explaining how he couldn’t find sleep after another nightmare. It became a recurrent thing in their dynamic to seek help when old fears returned under another form, stronger than ever.
That night, the taller blond accepted the shaking figure inside his bed and welcomed the scarred fingers holding the fabric of his shirt tighter, resting his head against his shoulders. Don’t get them wrong, the two childhood friends had never been this close in the past, and this proximity probably awakened old feelings that had stayed hidden for too long inside their chests. Katsuki didn’t question the nature of his sentiments when he ruffled the messy curls and brought the omega closer until their bodies fell asleep beside each other’s warmth.
This habit slowly became their coping mechanism every time an obstacle crossed their paths, no matter who was the person standing in the other’s dorm. The both men knew their souls might never forgive themselves for letting such a tragedy happen, especially something they couldn’t control….but Izuku wasn’t against the idea of holding the sleeping figure as close as possible, being a reminder of the old days.
The freckled man was probably the first one to fall for his best friend a long time ago when “love” was a simple notion in the book, a desire as unreachable as his chance to see his missing dad again, but it was a classic truth to his lips. He should've shared his confessions earlier, but his reason convinced him that Katsuki would’ve probably considered this a simple coping mechanism after their experience on the battlefield…
It explains why the omega took the decision to keep his romantic feelings hidden until graduation and cherished each interaction with his childhood friend, from their casual escape at night to the slight blush crossing their cheeks when their fingers accidentally met under the bedsheets. All their friends noticed the clear signs under their eyes with Katsuki Bakugo being overprotective, refusing to be separated again. When Katsuki Bakugo realized he had fallen in love with his childhood friend, he decided to take his time to accept their presence as something sincere, and not the result of guilt over the past years. He naturally welcomed the sleeping figure into his arms, erased his tears, and promised him that everything would be fine, despite being afraid of their fate after graduation.
However, the stubborn alpha didn’t want to be miles away from the only one occupying his heart! He knew the decision was risky, but Katsuki didn’t have any hesitation when he asked Izuku to be his roommate. Many people would’ve considered this gesture as possessive and a result of selfishness, but the freckled man didn’t mind and accepted it with a bright smile on his face, offering an embrace. After all, the two students blindly trusted the unknown, but they agreed to continue this timeless vow they sealed in their youth. Being together every day implies keeping an eye on the other’s state and being there if something is wrong, instead of being eaten by remorse
Moving together as roommates was easier than they expected, almost like their souls were bonded since their eyes met. This mutual support became a reassuring gesture in their everyday lives, no matter if the freckled man had to suffer from his grades in college, or if the blond had failed a recent fight. At the end of the day, the evident distance between their opposite worlds, became a forgotten frame when they returned to their cozy apartment, with this welcoming expression on their faces. The two childhood friends faced ups and downs, often linked to deep insecurities after Katsuki ended up at the hospital or Izuku nearly passed out due to his work. It was clear how they cared about each other, and their romantic feelings didn’t bring any help either, especially when jealousy became a regular visitor in their overwhelmed hearts.
It wasn’t surprising to see the crimson eyes sharing death glances at anyone asking the nerd on a date, especially when this idiot was too shy to reject the offer. Those nights when he stayed alone with his thoughts were the worst, thinking about any kind of scenarios where Izuku found his perfect match. It was unfair how this friendship represented their biggest strength but weakness at the same time: Katsuki wanted Izuku’s happiness, even if this meant being in a relationship with someone who wasn’t him….but he hated the fact that some extras was smarter than him for taking his place in the nerd’s heart. Izuku never understood why his roommate stayed up so late when he had an important mission the next day, but he liked to sit on the couch with his cup of hot chocolate and talk about how disastrous his date had been.
The events repeated themselves with the same reassurance leaving the blond's lips, explaining how someone was standing there and probably waiting for his turn, no matter how long it took. Izuku wanted to believe those words were destined for him, but he knew his denial might worsen their bond, still fragile due to this constant war of emotions inside their chest. If the freckled realized how filling the void with endless dates was not the best way to cope with his imaginary one-sided love, he found himself unable to control his jealousy after seeing some random standing too close to his childhood friend! How could this stranger be so confident about holding Dynamight’s arms when he probably didn’t even know about the scars residing there and their stories?
He lost his mind when he read the title, explaining how the great Dynamight was seen with someone else by his side after a “romantic date”. The media started to gossip about this fresh relationship, breaking Izuku’s heart as the freckled man naturally took his distance. How was he supposed to chase after his childhood friend, knowing he would return his feelings? He had no other choice than keeping a fake smile at the corner of his lips the entire time the topic was mentioned, and teared up at night, when the stars watched his desperate soul chasing someone who’ll probably never love him.
Yet, Katsuki hated this impression of deja vu and wasn’t ignorant of the slight sobs between the walls separating their two rooms. His heart begged him to check on his childhood friend’s state, but his reason convinced him to stay away from this mess. With a deep breath, he knocked on the door and waited until the shorter man appeared, with teary emerald eyes he justified by nightmares, even if they both knew it was a lie. The calloused hands naturally wiped those salty tears away from this porcelain skin and asked if he could stay here for the night. Izuku simply nodded as he welcomed the taller man inside his sheet: None dared to talk, even when the scarred fingers held the blond’s shirt and brought his messy curls closer: After all, if he was doomed to a one-sided love, he could at least enjoy those moments, knowing they weren’t meant to last forever.
Slowly, the gesture repeated itself until both men forgot the last time they slept on their individual beds. It was more appeasing to have the gentleness of Izuku’s arms wrapped around his back than facing the cold side of the bed. Those bounding moments brought them back to their golden youth, with their naivety of the outside world after graduation…unaware of their harsh adulthood.
—------
Izuku was the first to confess his love.
His plan was simple, let his childhood friend know about his feelings before making a decision he’ll regret: After all, the latest title kept lighting up the new couple and how they talked about marriage in numerous interviews. The freckled man wasn’t the kind of person to ruin someone’s happiness, but he wanted to show how there was someone much better than this person the blond had been dating for a while! His selfishness took the lead over his reason and the simple mention of this topic played with his jealousy until he reached his final straw when Katsuki explained how he didn’t notice this new shop concerning wedding rings at the corner of their street.
“How can you be so stupid,” Izuku exclaimed with a loud tone, resonating in the entire apartment. An uncomfortable silence filled the previous blank, with crimson eyes looking at him with surprise, under the betrayed ones of the omegas. His fist met the wooden table as he stood up from the chair, staring straight into the alpha’s irises to let him know his truth. “You don’t even know what you’re doing and how marriage is serious commitment, you can’t choose someone you just dated for a few months and consider this person as your missing half or whatever this is !”
“I thought you were okay with that, why did you change your mind ?” Katsuki asked with a curious tone, losing his fingers against the spoon, as he noticed how the emerald eyes became angrier at his answer. Until now the nerd always affrimed he was alright with this idea, but something was off with Izuku’s personality for a few days, almost like he had something to hide….
“Because I’m tired of chasing after someone who keeps ignoring the signs under his eyes,” the shorter man said with an angry tone. He moved closer to the taller man and grabbed his shirt tighter with the palm of his hand. The freckled man used all his strength to push the blond against the wall, making sure the crimson eyes were entirely focused on him. “I’ve kept sending hints and yet, you’ve barely noticed them. I let my selfishness consume my last ounce of humanity by being the center of your world, being this shoulder to cry on, but each time you mention his name, it’s playing with my nerves.”
“Did you try therapy-”
“I’m tired of pretending my feelings for you are nonexistent when it burns me from the inside to see this stranger taking my happy ending. Katsuki Bakugo, I’ve spent my entire life chasing after you and each year separating me from this love confession is a real hell: You have no idea how much it broke my heart to see this stranger kissing you, holding your hand when it was my dream,” Izuku explained with a shaking tone, holding the blond’s shirt tighter with salty tears falling down his cheeks.
He didn’t know all those years of suffering would explode like a bomb in the other’s face, but he welcomed them, even if this meant facing the consequences of this selfish gesture.
“I’ve held myself too many times but I refuse to let the man I love marry someone else. How many tears did I have to keep secret until you finally noticed me? How much praise do I have to confess to have your attention and make you forget about his name? How many times do I have to remind myself that loving you is the biggest blessing I could ever have, but a curse to my shattered heart? Tell me, Katsuki Bakugo...How can you look at me that way and think I wouldn’t fall in love with you ?”
An uncomfortable silence filled the room, leaving the two men stunned after the previous revelations. The crimson eyes widened at the sight of the terry emerald ones, realizing how the scarred fingers held his shirt tighter, afraid to let him go. It was heartbreaking to see the breakdown and being a simple spectator of this show, especially when Katsuki was the reason for this pain in the first place. His heart missed a beat when he noticed how the shorter man gave up and let him go, releasing the taller figure from his grasp and wiping his own tears.
At this moment, Katsuki connected the dots and laughed: How could he pretend he didn’t see the signs when he had been aware of them the entire time? Don’t get him wrong, he knew best friends were close, but there was something strangely possessive with the way the freckled man was holding him and staying distant in his conversation about this topic. The taller man sighed, regaining his breath as he found the broken expression on the omega’s face, realizing he found himself in an embarrassing situation. Knowing Izuku, the nerd was probably thinking his roommate was mocking him, but the alpha couldn’t believe how he could’ve confessed earlier if he knew the truth!
“Look at you, the great Izuku Midoriya jumping to the wrong conclusion and a smart scheme,” the blond added with a grin at the tip of his lips, catching the distant emerald eyes. The palm of his hand lost into his golden spiky hair, moving his head to have a full glance at the blushing omega, trying to under if he should be mad or vulnerable to his speech. “I’ve always thought I would’ve been the one confessing after all the shit we’ve been through, but the roles reversed. I never thought a misunderstanding would free us from so much suffering and years of silence but here we are.”
“What do you mean ?” Izuku asked with a cold tone, pretending to be mad when he wanted explanations. He wanted to keep his glance away from the gorgeous painting under his eyes, but how was he supposed to ignore this Greek statue which looked stunning-
“I’ve been hanging out with this guy for months, but not for the reason you think,” Katsuki explained with a teasing tone, noticing how the shorter man listened to each of his words with attention. “The agency created some kind of gossip for the media with the introductions of dating rumors and weddings to cover his real identity. It had been a cover mission all along and we needed to convince the public, so we got to know each other and agreed on the plan but we underestimated how it would work with the naive spirits.”
“I don’t….I don’t understand-”
“It’s pretty clear to me: All of this was schemed since the beginning to cover this extra’s identity and secret affair. We created a certain narrative about this story and convinced people it was true when it was nothing but bullshit,” the taller man explained, moving closer to the shorter figure, who stared at him with a place face. Knowing Izuku, the omega was probably thinking he embarrassed himself and wanted to dig his own grave after this humiliation and failed confession, but he didn’t hear the rest of the story… “I didn’t and will never love him, because my heart is already taken by someone else. I refused to let this extra touch me, except for this one handhold in public but the kiss was an edit made by Aizawa and the team to make it look more convincing. Why would I let such a stranger replace the spot of the person that matters to me the most, the same one looking at me with his stupid but adorable eyes after a jealousy crisis ?”
Alright….It was a lot to handle.
Izuku’s heart missed a beat at the sudden realization that the last words were destined for him! At this moment, the only one he could express was the relief of knowing it was fake the entire time and his childhood friend was in love with him. Tears fell down his cheeks understanding how they wasted years… unaware of this mutual affection. His scarred fingers caressed his porcelain skin, under the soft glance of the blond, who simply ruffled his messy curls in gentle movements.
“You’ve been my first everything, it was natural for me to let you be my first and last love, even if I had to wait an entire lifetime to make this happen. How stupid of you to even think I’ll give up on someone as mesmerizing and beautiful as you,” he confessed with a light tone, rubbing his thumbs into the chubby freckled cheeks. His heart missed a beat when he recognized the caring expression on the emerald eyes, charming his heart a second time: How was he supposed to chase after someone else when Izuku Midoriya was all he ever wanted?
“Does this mean….” Izuku whispered with a hesitant tone, losing his fingers in the calloused ones. A slight smile crossed his lips as he moved closer to the taller man until their faces were separated by a few centimeters. It was easy to catch the heavy breathing between their lips and how their bodies naturally found safety in each other’s warmth, recalling their numerous nights of reassurance after a terrible nightmare. He lifted his head to see the charming irises and knew he needed to conclude that in charm. “You still haven’t had your first kiss ?”
“I was waiting for you, but I should return the question…did you keep your promise to mine ?” Katsuki asked, putting his strong hands around the omega’s waist. The freckled man simply smiled at the gesture, resting his hands behind his roommate’s neck and admiring how beautiful his childhood friend looked. It wasn’t the love confession they expected after all those years of pining, but he was glad to finally have the answer he had been looking for….
“You already know I'm yours in every lifetime,” he replied with a loving tone.
The delicate fingers lost themselves in the spiky hair as their faces moved closer enough to feel a few centimeters separating their lips. The sexual tension of all these unresolved conflicts appeared under an enchanting contract with the devil, but both men only cared about their selfishness. A slight smile crossed the omega’s lips as he naturally moved his lips to meet the blond's in an innocent movement, compared to the previous anger he had shown earlier.
The heat of their skin created some sparkle in their bodies, realizing how they immediately connected and started to dig for more, exploring this unknown territory. The delicate fingers held the messy curls closer, losing his virgin lips against his roommate’s as the strong palm held the smaller body tighter. The previous tension was soon erased by the chaotic movements of their lips against each other, being their first but none complained, especially when they felt themselves drowning in this happiness.
Their figures stepped back to regain their mutual breath. Izuku simply laughed, rested his head against the blond's forehead, and held his hand in a warm touch. A scarlet color was appearing on their heated cheeks, but it didn’t stop them from trying again until they became familiar with the sensation, until their figures rested in the bedroom with a heavy blush on their cheeks. The freckled man smiled like an idiot, holding his boyfriend closer and whispering how he was sorry for the mess earlier.
That night, the two men started to tease each other about the rest of their projects now that they were official. Izuku and Katsuki simply laughed and played with this close distance between them.... Little did they know how those mornings resting in each other’s arms would become their new everything.
——-
Izuku Midoriya knew Katsuki Bakugo was in love with him. After all, their affection became a common source of teasing and jokes in their surroundings, making the two lovers blush at this new dynamic.
As expected, nothing really changed from their platonic one, but they liked their new privileges. The two childhood friends were able to hold hands without any ounce of guilt, share secret kisses, and be each other’s biggest pride in the most vulnerable moments. The two men wouldn’t wish for a better ending and yet, the blond caught the omega off-guard when he put on his knees and asked for Izuku’s hand two years later. Many people would say this was a rushed decision, but Izuku and Katsuki had the sensation of knowing each other for decades, and they refused to wait any longer!
The freckled man recalls this unforgettable moment were the tears fell down his cheeks at the overwhelming happiness rising inside his chest, with the crimson eyes waiting for an answer. Izukunever thought that marriage would be a source of bliss in his current life, especially after his peaceful life, and fresh relationship…but he wouldn’t mind spending the rest of his life wearing the name of his biggest hero. It might be a simple detail on the appearance, but it was the biggest homage the omega could offer to this childhood friend, who offered him the world at the palm of his shaking hands. It didn’t take long before he made a brilliant smile and said how he was more than happy to wear such a symbolic object, reminding him of their chaotic adventure.
Don’t get them wrong, the couple knew the wedding was something deeply serious, but they decided to take their time with the preparation to make the most memorable ceremony of the decade. Those years of saving money and short holidays as fiancés, were worth the try when D-Day finally happened three years later, on a bright sunny day with the fresh wind ruffling Izuku’s hair, and the blond's sweat. Everything was perfect, from the vows they shared on the altar, to the hidden handhold under the table during their loved ones’ speeches.
Their surroundings could definitely affirm how each emotion passing through the couple’s faces was as authentic as their relationship, becoming an inspiring tale for the most curious souls. There wasn’t any day passing by where the married and recently mated couple, didn’t cherish this honor of wearing the same family name, bonding their universe into one with a symbolic promise like the one they made on the altar. The public started to have doubts after spotting their two shadows on a date in town, zooming in on their wedding rings, and creating a scandal around their secret affair.
Many people considered this a marketing strategy, while others simply congratulated them due to the genuine love in each other’s glances in the pictures. When the pressure became too heavy on their shoulders, Katsuki decided to take the lead and let the media know that he didn’t regret this decision, even if this meant being against the rest of the world and protecting the man he loved
Time passed by and the two childhood friends found themselves happier than ever in this comfortable dynamic between them. Their favorite moments remained the ones in the early morning with stolen kisses against their shoulders or a tender embrace in the kitchen with a gentle laugh resonating in the house.
Dynamight was the most inspirational figure of the decade and was idolized by the youngest. Izuku often compared him to All Might in their youth: being this unreachable figure and yet, a constant source of courage for the most determined spirits. The awed expression on the youngest’s eyes, when they met the stubborn alpha, was similar to the same glance Izuku shared with him on the altar. The blond couldn’t be more grateful for everything he achieved in his life, even when his job forced him to leave his loved ones with a temporary goodbye. After all, staying away from his friends, family, and husband was mentally exhausting, but he took his time to stay in touch with them, even if he had more favoritism for his mate.
Katsuki noticed how the omega held his tears during their goodbye, putting on a fake smile to reassure his lover, even if his heart was shattered by the abrupt separation. The taller man wasn’t naive and simply held the shaking figure in an embrace, explaining how he’d return as soon as possible to spend his time with his missing half. That day, Izuku rested his head against his chest and held his husband’s clothes tighter, promising him to wait until their next reunion.
—--
The midnight sky revealed its darkest shade, mixed with rising stars as the observer, observed the moving figure in the silent room. The lively atmosphere of the neighborhood was now turned into a blurry memory to the awoken soul, staring at the ceiling.
If his days had been occupied with casual chores, the freckled man found himself stuck in this endless circle, unable to escape his own thoughts once the night had come. The first time he stayed in this cozy bed with cold pillows by his side, Izuku accepted this idea and yet, this mindset became his nemesis.
He started to dislike the moment when the sky showed its darkest colors, keeping his soul awake against his will, no matter how much he tried to avoid his nightmares. Being away from the man he loved was emotionally exhausting, even for his body with the pregnancy Those daily habits that gave him a smile on his face, ended up being delightful memories as he simply stared at his quiet bedroom, turning the light on with a groan escaping his lips.
Don’t get him wrong, the freckled man could try to get some sleep and let time pass by, but his heart remained heavy in the early morning. This temporary escape might appease his heart and soul, but it won’t take away the genuine worries the omega had for his lover: After all, he was afraid of waking up with a terrible call announcing the death of his mate, forced to raise a child on his own with a broken heart.
Izuku was grateful to have someone like Katsuki by his side, especially when he could easily share his biggest fears without being judged, knowing the understanding voice on the line had his back. It was unfair how Katsuki Bakugo always had the last word, but the alpha stayed on the phone until his husband felt better, even if this meant staying up until sunrise to listen to the heartwarming mumble of his sleepy mate on the line.
This strong bond between them echoed as the favorite prose in the most unforgettable poem, signed with indelible ink on those timeless pages. Each laugh and smile was considered a source of inspiration for this timeless tale the two men were writing all along, but the distance only amplified this fear of spending the rest of their lives without their significant other.
It might explain why the two men stayed in contact as much as possible, taking daily news and having constant calls, even during the boring days. Katsuki and he talked more than once about this desire to see each other and offer this embrace they genuinely missed, but it was a question of days until their eyes met again and their souls reconnected…
Izuku sighed, moving on the thin bed sheet as his fingers reached his pillow to find a better position. He wanted to get some sleep and close his eyes, but recalling the past with evident nostalgia gave him the impression of being a puppet in a cruel show. His thumbs held the fabric of the bedsheet closer to his shoulders, moving his legs in the warmth under the sheet, but it didn’t erase the anxiety rising inside his chest.
Katsuki Bakugo was caring and the perfect partner someone could ever ask for, but Dynamight was stubborn and wouldn’t hesitate to kick the villain’s ass at the price of his own life. It was a part of the job and Izuku knew about it since a young age, but it hit differently now he was bearing life and it wasn’t only his but also his child’s life on the line!
Don’t get him wrong, Izuku never missed any information concerning his mate in the news, especially when Dynamight’s success became the only topic residing on people’s lips all around the globe. The freckled man couldn’t be prouder of this amazing accomplishment of his childhood friend, looking at him with pride from afar and praising his victories in their daily calls.
However, he wondered how many times he had to hear that Katsuki went to the hospital after an injury, explaining how it was strange not to have someone holding his hands. How many injuries does the blond have to feel to accept the fact that it was time to return home and take a break? How many scars does Izuku’s eyes have to observe to convince his husband that he refused to see his childhood friend six feet underground?
After a few moments in this bed that didn’t feel cozy anymore, the shorter man decided to take a break and change his mind, despite the late hour on the clock. His feet reached his slipper and let the sudden noises fill the previous silence, as his fingers turned the light on, revealing a kitchen and living room witha different atmosphere: The bright colors of this place were now replaced by loneliness and a reminder of his current reality, where even his wildest dreams couldn’t erase the nostalgia inside his chest.
Waiting for someone was probably one of the worst fates Izuku had to endure, but he knew the patience was worth the try if this meant being reunited with his lover as soon as possible. His thumb opened the cupboard to grab the closest cup he could find, before turning the tap on, welcoming the water noises as a familiar melody to his ears. It helped him to forget his problems for a few seconds as he put the cup to the tip of his lips and took a simple sip of the cold water, making him groan at the uncomfortable sensation inside his throat.
The slight comfort brought into this room came from the delicate emerald shawl around his shoulders, covering his arm and reaching his elbow. The fragile fabric of the satin against his vulnerable skin brought him back to the night when his husband offered this wonderful gift, explaining how the charming shade of this satin shawl reminded him of the enchanting eye of his mate.
Since that day, the freckled man never left this wonderful present and started to keep it by his side, especially when his childhood friend moved for his mission, leaving the omega no choice but to find reassurance in this touching symbolism. The size was long enough to cover the top of his arms, making him smile when the thin fabric met his skin in each of his movements, even when his scarred thumbs sensed the enveloping peace on his body.
The shorter man moved closer to the wooden table, where a few notes resided on the walls, with pictures on the sidelines, revealing the ethereal beauty of those frames. His eyes glanced at them with a slight smile at the tip of his lips, holding the photo frame with a gentle movement, almost like the simple touch might bring him back the man he loved. Experiencing meaningful moments like the first echography on its own was painful, but he held on as long as possible to make the best present and let his husband know how much he appreciated this experience.
Their paths were meant to cross in distinct lifetimes, under different circumstances for sure, but Izuku was convinced this invisible string between them was better than any reward on the battlefield. It might explain why this unborn child was the result of this timeless love, a treasure to cherish as proof that their affection succeeded in transcending the decades. If Izuku was happier than ever and even excited about the arrival of this pup, he couldn’t imagine how surprised his husband must be at the news, but the positive point was that this absence gave him enough time to think about the good way to announce the news!
After all, this represented huge changes and it needed to be perfect to leave an unforgettable impression on the stubborn alpha. All the changes were on Izuku’s side, especially when he had known his mate since they were in diapers and had already seen the best and worst parts of the stubborn man, even the ones able to scare the most innocent souls. Standing by Katsuki Bakugo’s side and wearing his name was an amazing experience he hoped he’d have in his next lifetime. The shorter man took a quick glimpse at the echography on the table and realized how he wasn’t alone now. After all, a certain someone was occupying his thoughts most of the days and residing peacefully in this light bubble he considered his home.
Izuku couldn’t wait to have proper interaction with his child, feel his bump, and the amazed eyes of his husband from afar. This miracle pup was all the couple needed to take the next step in their relationship and be the parents they wanted to be, even if the omega was still unprepared for these changes in their new lifestyle. The couple had so much to learn and yet the freckled man wouldn’t mind making mistakes and being rewarded with the admiring eyes of the child, from the man he loved more than his own soul.
Being a parent was scary and yet, …he couldn’t imagine how wonderful and terrifying this new beginning might be for their future, but he was convinced his mate would stand by his side the entire time.
Keeping this secret for too long, even with his friends and family, was complicated, but he wanted to make sure his lover would be the first one to know the news before making it public! In all honesty, it was complex to picture what their new every day will look lik from now on, and the unmistakable changes it’ll have on their relationship.
In order to change his mind, the freckled man liked to write a few of his thoughts and apprehensions in a secret diary to be mentally ready for what was currently happening inside his body. Who knows, maybe he’ll read this in ten years and have a good laugh at his naivety. It happened to have light dreams where the omega stood in a baby room with distinct decorations changing depending on his mood, but he always took the time to feel at ease in this environment that would soon become his new reality.
He didn’t have a preference when it came to the gender of their child, Izuku liked to write about his apprehension and how he couldn’t mind having a carbon copy of his husband if this meant looking into this child’s eyes and recognizing the man he loved in every lifetime. He happened to write special letters to his unborn child, expressing the excitement despite being barely two months old, but he naively held onto the hope that one day, he would be able to read each of them with amazed eyes and chubby hands holding a plushie against their chest.
It was unfair to keep his husband away, but the freckled man needed to hold on, especially when staying strong was the only thing to do: After all, each of his worries and negative feelings might have an impact on his body, and the most important one…his pup’s life! There was no right for mistakes in those new stages, not when the omega wanted to keep his baby safe as long as possible.
His shorter figure reached the couch and rested his back against the fabric of the pillow he grabbed on its way. He didn’t want to turn the television on to put some background noise in his loneliness, but he wanted to simply enjoy the silence surrounding him at a late hour. A groan escaped from his lips as his fingers grabbed the closest blanket and let it rest on his legs, trying to find a good position to warm the pup despite the multiple layers separating the womb and its environment. Scarred fingers lost themselves around this nonexistent belly and let those comfortable thoughts occupy his mind, until the words escaped from his mouth without realizing it, lost in the euphoria of the moment.
“It’s pretty unfair I got to be the first one to know about your existence when it should’ve been your dad,” he said with a soft tone. The freckled man didn’t expect any answer due to the early months of pregnancy and indication from the doctor, but he wanted to believe that his words would have an impact on his pup’s state. After all, he wasn’t aware of what was happening inside the womb, but it was his duty to bring comfort to this tiny human who only knew the sound of his voice! “I’m pretty sure he would’ve been a sobbing mess if he knew about you, he’s a great man and one of the best people I’ve ever seen. There’s no doubt you’ll inherit from his genes, but I wouldn’t wish for a better lover than him.”
Technically, Izuku was talking to himself and looking for some reassurance in his solitued, but he was ready to take the world down for this tiny human born by genuine love in this mesmerizing story.
“ I know your dad will absolutely love you. I feel bad for keeping this secret but things are complicated here, if I share the news, he’ll put his life in danger for us and it’ll be more dangerous than his current mission. As much as I love you and your dad, I care about both of your safety. This also means I got to talk with you most of the time, isn’t it amazing ?”
A low chuckle escaped from his lips, resting his neck against the closest pillow he grabbed to rest his neck. Under different circumstances, he would’ve been tormented by his inner demons, but he found some comfort by talking with his pup, even if he couldn’t move for the moment. Delicate fingers caressed the belly under his shirt, making a slight smile at the idea that another human was living here, and how the human body was incredible for making such a thing happen!
“You probably think I’m crazy to talk to myself, but loneliness can sometimes bring good surprises like you showing up at the perfect timing,” he added with an amused tone, wondering when he’ll be able to cup those chubby baby cheeks and hear the heartwarming laugh of this angel that brighten their days. “I can’t wait to see you moving and answering our voices, I bet you’re an active pup but you’ll be way better in our arms when the time has come. I can’t wait to meet you and I’m sure Kacchan thinks the same. Listen, I can’t promise to be a good parent, I barely know anything about raising a child, but for you, I wouldn’t mind stealing the moon if you asked for it..”
If someone was watching him at the moment, they’d probably think he needed to get some rest before losing his mind, but he was glad to be awake to have this bonding moment with his pup. It actually brought him more comfort than he expected and loved the way he immediately connected with this human, who couldn’t help but simply listen to his story and consider this as reality without making their own opinion yet.
“It’s just the beginning but I can feel how your existence will be our biggest pride,” he confessed caressing his belly and hoping the gesture won’t bother the little bean in his cozy bubble. “I wonder if you also have nightmares there, but it would break my heart. You know, I also had bad dreams too, due to the distance from your dad and old stories I’ll share with you one of these days when you’re older. It’s not easy but I’m glad you’re here to cheer me up, you make good company! You have so much to learn and yet, you’re our little miracle. I’ve never done any of this before, and I have no idea how to take care of myself, so I’m scared of messing things up with you…..Knowing you’re here brightens each of my days. I know you’ll be Kacchan’s biggest treasure…..I wonder what he’s doing at the moment.”
Thinking about Katsuki brought him back to his reality, with this silent house. He would do anything to see the grin on his husband’s face and hear the alpha’s voice again, but he needed to wait a little longer. Izuku was convinced his mate was doing his best on the other side of the world and would share this story in a few years, under the amazed expression of this chubby face, listening to his parents’ tender narratives.

On the other side,
The background noises of reporters and constant flashes became his new everyday. Don’t get him wrong, Katsuki knew moving to the other side of the world for an overseas quest with his huge popularity was risky, but the blond impatiently counted each day separating his reunion with his husband, realizing how he hated being away from his other half.
Each night the stubborn alpha recalled the fragile frames of the last interaction he had with his mate, on the phone or through an embrace that marked their temporary goodbye. The crimson eyes couldn’t help but stare at his reflection in the mirror and notice how new injuries appeared on his cursed skin, wondering how Izuku would react to them once he returned home. After all, being away from his native town was strange, but he got the praise of strangers, even if this wasn’t enough to fulfill the sadness inside his chest every time he stayed in an empty bed.
Lost in his thoughts, the blond often projected the familiar shadow of the sleepy figure beside him during the most vulnerable night, holding onto the promise of returning to his safe place with a grin instead of being another grave in the cemetery.
Katsuki wished he could be there to reassure his husband during his nightmares, but he did his best to rush as soon as possible, even if this meant overworking and exhausting his body until his final straw. His medical appointment resulted in the doctor announcing his concerning state, explaining that he needed a few days off to get enough rest. The news was clear; the other heroes will replace him while his lazy ass was recovering from stupi injuries.
The three days he spent at the hospital without any contact with his mate were the worst, and his heart missed a beat when he noticed the numerous missed calls and messages from the nerd, being dead worried about his state. Katsuki pretended to be alright to comfort the shaking tone on the line, but his own heart ached at this painful sound.
Many people would’ve said that two months are probably nothing, but each day separating the two childhood friends gave them the sensation of being stabbed in the back until there was no more blood but dry tears on their used skin. Against his will, Katsuki Bakugo forced himself to push himself to his own limits, under his colleague's concerned glances but his intentions were clear: leave this place as soon as possible.
The atmosphere in the group became tense as the end was coming closer to its final date, signifying complete freedom for all the brave soldiers who agreed to participate in this courageous quest. There were a few deaths that left a bittersweet taste on their lips, no matter if the deceased souls were lovers; friends, or someone who should’ve survived this injury…but each name remained unforgettable in their memories.
Katsuki learned many lessons in the last two months separating him from his hometown: he made new experiences and faced ups and downs as he slowly regained his past habits, even if he was haunted by the fear of returning to a silent house. The lifeless body and tragic news of his colleagues' passing away became a source of conflict for his shattered heart, explaining why he agreed to stay with Izuku on the line until he fell asleep, having an ounce of reassurance for the next day.
Katsuki Bakugo was relieved when the final day ofinally signed the freedom for all the heroes who worked here and sacrificed all their blood and sweat. He took the money he gained after his sacrifices and he took the first plane to the closest airport, enjoying this slight ounce of rest he deserved. In reality, the blond wanted to make a surprise visit, but he couldn’t take the risk of being caught and spotted in the media. He naturally reached out to his friends once he returned to Japan two days later, with the excitement filling his chest.
—---
The early morning, passing through the moving curtain of this familiar house, reflected the light spotlight framed the sleeping figure inside his bedsheet, resting with a peaceful expression on his face and hands wrapped around his nonexistent belly.
His overprotective instinct easily took the lead after the previous conversation he shared with his pup, even if it remained one-sided but the omega doesn’t care. The memories he forged with this child helped him to regain a slight courage to face another day and wait for his mate’s return. A slight groan escaped from Izuku’s lips when he heard the annoying ringtone appear as a loud background noise to his sensitive ears, His fingers succeeded in turning the alarm off as the emerald eyes slowly opened in the room, turning his head to catch the empty side of the bed. A sigh echoed in the bedroom as he whipped his sleepy eyes and stared at the delicate memories he gained from the last night, offering a slight smile at the tip of his lips.
In all honesty, the freckled man knew how the invisible bond between a dam and its child was powerful, but he underestimated how meaningful it would’ve been for his heart. He wouldn’t mind having endless conversations with his little bean if this meant letting his pup know how loved he was despite the cruel circumstances of their situation.
“You probably had a better night than I, but at least you don’t have to go to work, sweetie,” the freckled man mumbled with an amused tone, letting his feet meet the cold floor.
He found enough courage to leave his bed and reach the bathroom to take a quick glance at his state: the bags under his eyes were more than concerning, but his glimpse fell on the slight bump that slowly took form. An ounce of joy filled his chest as the scarred fingers took away his shirt scented by his husband before his departure.
The shorter shadow entered the shower and turned the water off as he felt the burning sensation against his back, taking a few minutes to digest how this day would be too repetitive for his longing heart, but a simple smile would do the trick to erase his concerns in front of his students. After all, they were innocent but remained the ones who observed how their teacher tried his best to hold on in public.
The soap slowly mixed with the omega’s scent in the bathroom as an evident fogging appeared on the glasses and mirror of the small piece, releasing the omega from his previous struggles. In reality, the freckled man was more than relieved to see the awed expression on his students’ faces and make them smile, changing his mind from this bittersweet solitude. He liked being a teacher more than anything and his favorite days were the ones when he welcomed Dynamight for a lecture. He knew it belonged to the past and this shorter man was doomed to have the center of attention of many students by himself instead of getting some help from his colleagues or old friends.
His scarred fingers grabbed the towel near his reach and whipped the fogging away, taking a deep breath as his figures disappeared in the room and grabbed some clothes before reaching the fridge and making some breakfast. His pregnancy limited the amount of food and aliments he needed to take in order to keep the pup safe, and Izuku respected each rule very seriously, but he missed the old days when he didn’t have to worry about such a thing. He knew things would get worse in the next months, but he needed to stay strong…
The news caught his attention, staring at the television playing in the background while putting his tie on. He took a short break to observe the big title, informing how the overseas mission was finally over and one really knew when the heroes would return home, but to their knowledge, only one passed away in unfortunate conditions.
The freckled man remembered when he learned about the tragedy during his phone call with Katsuki, listening to the blond’s explanation concerning this extra being anunfair victim of this villain’s hands. That night, Izuku pointed out how it wasn’t Katsuki’s fault and none could’ve predicted such a tragedy, realizing how much he missed hugging his husband and erasing the tears on his porcelain cheeks.
A scarlet color appeared on his freckled cheeks when his eyes stared at the screen, revealing Dynamight’s face as a member of the expedition, praising his success. The omega was relieved to know this wait was finally over and his husband should be there in a few days, according to the plane and the message received this morning by the blond, followed by a quick “good luck” concerning his day at work.
His thumbs held the fabric of his costume tighter, realizing how excited he was to see the man he loved again after two months of complete separation: he couldn’t wait to hold him inside his arms and kiss his stupid lips, whispering how it had been the worst months of his life. The shorter man sighed, finishing his tie while checking the silent house one last time, before putting the keys on the handle, unaware of the surprise awaiting him at the end of the day.
—--
Katsuki knew he had made a mistake by reaching out to the idiots.
He didn’t have to look for their presence in the crowd to see their big sign with the wavy hands from afar, acting like hyped kids after seeing their favorite hero on screen. The blond wanted to pretend he found this ridiculous, but he gained more affection for that kind of moment, especially when he missed their stupid faces, and liked how they immediately agreed to make this secret plan to surprise the omega. Katsuki wanted to ask many questions about his husband’s state since his departure, the kind of details that only his loved ones could see in real life and not over the phone, but he kept them for later, choosing to focus on the current situation.
For the moment, he was doomed to be the center of attention with curious glances and whispers around him in the airport, questioning why this stranger was the source of so much joy. Some people rolled their eyes at the loud noises, others made a simple laugh at the cute interaction while life continued with none of them recognizing the number two hero. In all honesty, his cosplay wasn’t as creative as it used to be in his younger days, but it was the least he could do to avoid a scene in public.
His footsteps slowed down and stopped once he reached his final destination, standing in front of his friends, who looked amused by the situation, even when the calloused hands took his glasses off and made a heavy sigh.
“I think y’all need glasses and a dictionary unless you want me to remind you of the definition of discrete ?” Katsuki asked with an unimpressed tone, ignoring how the group glanced at each other with a teasing expression.
The group was happier than ever to finally have contact with their high school friend since the beginning of his overseas job, but it was exciting to prepare a secret plan to surprise Midoriya: After all, none of the fake smiles on the omega’s face were enough to convince them about his difficult nights, marked by the bags under his eyes.
“I think we got everything right,” the red-haired man explained with a thumb in the air, facing the middle finger of the blond. “How could you think we would ever respect a rule when even Aizawa got tired of our late-night sleepover party before exams? Plus, you’re probably homesick and miss a certain someone, we wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t the case, right ?”
“Count on us to prepare the best surprise of all time,” Denki pointed out with a nod, his voice louder enough to catch the attention of many people in the crowd.
For shadows who didn’t want to be spotted, their quest was already a failed attempt, but the excitement took the lead over rational thinking. Receiving this message out of nowhere in the middle of the night was the miracle they needed, especially after missing their friend, but seeing his annoyed crimson eyes made them happier than ever.
For the first time in years, the group had the impression of returning to their high school days, during their preparation for parties to celebrate the end of the exams. In all honesty, Katsuki was glad to see how his friendship with those idiots stayed the same, despite their bullshit. Seeing all of them reunited after graduation was touching, and the blond realized how he needed to organize some weekends with his old classmates in the next months to catch up on the lost time!
“Midoriya has been more exhausted since your departure but he is holding on, I bet he doesn’t expect any of this. Which stupid argument did you use to calm his curiosity after the media’s revelations about the end of the mission ?” The purple-haired woman asked with an amused tone, punching the taller man’s shoulders and catching the delight expression on his face. Jirou had always been the most rational one in the group, able to make the best decisions compared to the idiots dealing with this huge sign, taking up all the space in the bean.
“Some explanation concerning the need to let everyone rest, with their tickets already bought, some bullshit like that,” he affirmed with a sigh, feeling how he should’ve probably waited another day instead of rushing all over the place. His crimson eyes glanced at the soft expression appearing on Jirou’s face at his argument, being realistic enough to convince anyone, even the most credulous spirits.
“He’s really lucky to have you….but you’ll get scolded for making stupid decisions instead of getting enough rest, I hope you know that,” the shorter woman affirmed with a teasing tone, remembering how the stubborn omega wouldn’t mind being overprotective concerning his husband’s state, even in the craziest situations. The expression crossing the blond's face let her know how Katsuki was self-aware of these consequences, but he would rather stand in his lover’s arms at the moment than at a random airport! “I know I shouldn’t be the one telling you this, but Midoriya has been acting differently since you left. When we tried to ask what happened, he simply put the blame on naive excuses, but it’s none of my business.”
“He didn’t tell me any of this,” Katsuki answered with a surprised tone, wondering what secret his mate was hiding.
Don’t get him wrong, the alpha was aware of the recurrent nightmares and loneliness mentioned by his childhood friend during their calls, but his instincts sensed how it was related to something different. The great Dynamight was praised by the media but he missed returning home and seeing the mesmerized emerald eyes looking at him with love, with lost fingers losing themselves into the familiar spiky hair, and a few praises concerning his recent achievement. The taller man wondered if Izuku’s scent stayed as gentle as the last time their thumbs intertwined on the doorsteps, or if his teary eyes were still the most breathtaking painting he had ever seen.
However, it scared him to even think about the number of insecurities his husband kept discreet the entire time, showing reassurance over the phone instead of being completely honest about the situation. Izuku was someone who would easily hide his concerns to not scare his surroundings, putting his well-being aside: If the married couple had a family, this decision would’ve been understandable for the sake of their children, but it wasn’t the case and Izuku was still as stubborn as the first day they met. Katsuki wanted to be mad at this unhealthy coping mechanism, but the past years taught him that patience and understanding were the keys to finding a solution. He stood by his lover’s side the entire time, even when their conversations were essentially based on sobs in the room and the alpha’s voice calming the shaking figure into his arms.
“It’s because he cares a lot about you, but I’m no one to share news you’ve already known for years,” Jirou added with an comprehensive tone, putting her fingers on his shoulders. She noticed how his face turned sadder at the previous realization: it wasn’t her intention to erase this sparkle in his eyes at the idea of being reunited with his lover. “Don’t be too harsh on yourself, we kept an eye on him and thought about what he’ll think once he sees you in the room. This might be better than any victories on the battlefield, the faster we reach UA, the better you’ll feel…you’ve got this, Romeo.”
Katsuki sighed, sharing a thankful nod. He was glad to have someone as calm as the purple-haired woman by his side when the other idiots were still arguing about how to properly put the sign in the bean without ruining their efforts on their handwriting. Their voices resonated in the background and the blond made a simple grin at the silly interactions between them, feeling the proud glance on the beta’s face beside him. His previous anxiety calmed down at the idea that he was closer to seeing the radiant smile on his lover’s face,
“Come on, we have a long road and we all missed you,” Jirou added, before pinching his shoulders. The taller man sighed and followed the unimpressed beta, who made a scene as a mother telling her children to stop. The entire group stared at each other with an amused tone and their shadows were seen leaving the airport without any signs of reporters or annoying questions on their path.
Even if the blond was touched to see his husband again, he was touched to see how the past years had succeeded in keeping the bond with his high school friends stronger than ever.
—-----
“-You’ve pointed out a good detail about this analysis, but don’t forget that sometimes the most important truths often reside under our eyes, even if they seem invisible at the moment,” the freckled man affirmed with a calm tone, noticing how the black-haired student simply nodded at his answer.
The question itself was tough for a teenager of this age, compared to the notion they’ll learn in the next years, but Izuku simply did his job and tried to make this topic interesting for their curious spirits. He used to be one of them with different people and dreams to achieve, the wars might’ve taken everything away from him, but it made him realize the meaning and values of life at the slightest. It wasn’t easy to deal with ghosts of his past, but he continued like nothing happened, under the amazed eyes of his students.
This afternoon, the classroom was calmer compared to last week, but this silence was sometimes relaxing. He turned around to write the title of the new chapter on the board, catching a few mumbles he let go, but the noises became more problematic when he noticed how the entire class started to follow the rhythm.
Izuku held his breath and stopped writing on the whiteboard, facing the surprised expression on their faces. Usually, none would’ve been this distracted by elements from the outside but even the smartest student was caught off guard by whatever happened outside this classroom. Izuku realized something was wrong with the situation, leading him to stay calm instead of showing his fear, curious to know the sudden topic of interest in their wide eyes.
“Alright, I see you’re all in a mood for a talk all of a sudden,” Izuku sighed, resting his hand against the wooden desk to have their entire attention. Some students blushed and hid their faces away, embarrassed to get caught while others simply moved their heads to the side, questioning their teacher’s naivety. “I don’t mind having a conversation, it’s good for the bond you create with your surroundings, but I think there’s a time and a place for that. I’m only asking for one more hour and we could all go home and have this amazing conversation that seems to mean a lot to you…Do you think you can do that ?”
“Midroiya Sensei, why didn’t you tell us we’ll have an extra guest today ?” One of the teenagers asked with a loud voice, raising his hand in the air. His curious eyes met the surprised emerald ones, surprised by his previous statement.
He wasn’t stupid and Izuku knew his students wouldn’t lie about such a thing, but Aizawa didn’t tell him anything about this change of plan! If Izuku knew, he would’ve made a lighter program for the day to keep his students focused, but he didn’t even try to hide his curiosity. To his knowledge, his friends were on a specific job on the side of the town and the biggest names were out of reach. A part of him wanted to hear Dynamight’s on the list, but it was impossible when his husband was already on a plane to see him and return home.
The shorter man turned his head to catch the familiar faces of Katsuki’s friends standing beside the door, taking a quick glimpse at the amazed teenagers in the room. At this moment, Izuku’s heart missed a beat and he started to project the worst-case scenario: After all, maybe they came here to announce terrible news that would break his heart into millions of pieces, or maybe he was overthinking and everything was fine.
“I didn’t know it either, but it’s always a pleasure to have the unexpected visit of heroes on a calm afternoon like this one,” Izuku said with a calm tone that convinced his students but not his old classmates, who shared a reassuring glance. The freckled man sighed, holding his negative emotion as far as possible from the little bean, who paid for the overthinking of the poor omega.
“Don’t worry, we’re not here to stay, but we thought that little distractions would be necessary to calm them down while you’re out of the class, and don’t worry…Aizawa already knows about it,” Denki said with a nod, putting his hands on the omega’s shoulders before staring at the class. He knew the rest of the group would carry the situation during the lovers’ absence, especially when they’d never seen Katsuki so stressed, knowing how he used to claim that “nothing was scaring him”.
“Well…Thanks for the help but why should I leave my class ?” Izuku asked with a curious tone, putting his hands on his chin.
He took a quick glimpse at his classroom, meeting the same surprised expression on the teenager’s faces, who seemed as lost as him about this situation. The freckled man moved to leave some space for the group of heroes, standing under the amazed glance on the students’ faces, realizing how their idols were here under their eyes. This sweet sight wasn’t enough to erase the anxiety rising inside the teacher’s chest, calming himself at the curious situation until a familiar voice caught his attention.
“You can’t even say hi to an old friend,” the blond's voice echoed in the room, catching everyone off guard.
If the students stayed silent at the impressive Dynamight appearing in their isolated classroom, the reaction was….slightly different for the freckled man. His heart and reason wanted to believe it was the result of his solitude, but the sudden distance between the taller man and him brought him back to his reality, where fate was in his favor. After being selfish and wishing for the stars’ help to bring his husband faster to his hometown, he was thankful to see how their souls were finally reunited.
The omega’s heart missed a beat when he felt calloused thumbs ruffling the messy green curls against his ears, being a gesture both men genuinely missed since their last kiss. Izuku had so many questions to ask, residing at the tip of his lips, and yet…he only found the courage to whisper a low “Kacchan”, before grabbing the blond's wrist and guiding their two figures outside the room. He understood now why his friends were around to keep an eye on the teenagers, but the sudden silence in the hidden spot they found acted like a slap in the face.
At this moment, the omega wanted to ask questions and shut the blond down with a kiss, kick his ass for this surprise, and offer an embrace for returning home safely. His emerald eyes noticed the new scars on the blond's arms, breaking his heart on the spot, and wondering if they’ve been as painful as the past ones.
His scarred fingers held the blond’s wrist tighter, using his strength to push the taller man against the closest walls and lift his head to meet the familiar crimson irises. How many nights did he dream about this emotional reunion and how he would’ve loved to express how much he missed him with meaningful gestures that only worked in real life and not over some stupid phone? How many times did he wish to have those strong hands holding his shaking body closer, and this heavy breath against his lips?
Shit, Izuku didn’t even know where to start but the overwhelming happiness inside his chest transformed his previous fears into a tranquil reality: lost fingers whipped the salty tears falling down his cheeks away, before holding the shaking figure into a sudden embrace. The freckled man melted into the touch, resting his head against his husband’s chest as he released sobs in the silent corridor,
Katsuki couldn’t help but smile, one he reserved for his husband, as he hugged his mate closer: In all honesty, he would’ve probably been surprised if the roles were reversed, but a slight pride when he saw those teary eyes again. Now that he returned home, he refused to stay away from his childhood friend, even in their own house! The weight of their bodies offered warmth inside their chest, as calloused hands held the teacher’s jacket tighter, with scarred fingers staying close to his husband's grasp, afraid to let him go.
The previous months of loneliness were now replaced by this touching reunion, as their two figures could be seen in a warm hug in the middle of the same school that guided their tender narrative. Being in the same place where their relationship started was heartwarming, comparing their younger selves to the people they became over the years, losing their naivety but falling harder for their significant other. The wedding ring on their finger reflected the symbolism of this golden thread between their shattered souls, meant to find each other in every universe possible. After facing this experience of losing their other half, the couple realized how they had decided to stay selfish and keep this warmth until their dying days, even if this meant being hated by an entire country.
The redundancy of their days in the last two months let them understand how the two men needed so much more than a casual life until their last breath, but a crazy adventure that’ll bring this ounce of excitement each time they braved the forbidden. Scarred fingers held the fabric of the blond's shirt closer to his messy curls as he lifted his head and met the breathtaking painting near his reach. Delicate fingers cupped the blond’s skin, afraid to break this breathtaking painting near his reach, and admiring how gorgeous he looked: He didn’t know if it was his rising emotions or his sudden nostalgia taking the lead, but his heart missed a beat at how stunning the alpha was. His crimson eyes shared the same glance he made on the altar.
“What are you doing here ?” Izuku asked, welcoming the calloused fingers that ruffled his messy curls. The gesture malted the omega’s heart, relieved to see the man he loved finally by his side, A slight smile crossed the omega’s lips as he remembered the existence of this unborn child who probably heard his father’s voice for the first time, compared to the vulgar change of tone on the phone. “I thought you were supposed to arrive tomorrow.”
“I got a sudden change of plan and decided to pay a visit to my favorite teacher,” the taller man pointed out with a grin, putting his hands on the omega’s back.
The first thing that caught his attention was the new scent on his mate’s skin, probably due to the excitement and previous anxiety this poor soul had handled for too long, but his instincts shared a slight warning, almost like his lover knew something he didn’t. For the moment, the blond put aside this thought and simply kissed his husband’s forehead, bringing the shorter man closer for an embrace, relieved to feel his lover’s head against his chest.
“I had to ask for help with the idiots to not get caught at the airport, but I couldn’t wait any longer. I underestimated how being away from you for two endless months was the worst of fate. I’ve got you…And I’m not planning to live without you, freckles.”
“You’re stupid and don't need to make a scene like this one in front of my class, but I’m glad to know you’re home,” the shorter man mumbled with a gentle voice, losing his fingers with the alpha’s hands to intertwine their skin together. He put his head closer to Katsuki’s heartbeat and listened to his favorite lullaby and hoping their pup was able to hear the same melody inside the womb. “I missed you and I’m not planning to let you go, even if this means being against the agency and Aizawa’s order..”
“It’s okay, I’m here now,” the blond affirmed with an understanding tone.
Katsuki’s face softened as he rested a little longer in his childhood friend’s embrace, holding him like there was no tomorrow. Don’t get him wrong, Dynamight loved saving the world, but Katsuki Bakugo cherished those heartwarming reunions, realizing how he refused to stay away from the omega’s warmth. This decision of accepting missions in town might have a compromising impact on his salary, but after the money he gained from the overseas one….He knew his husband and he was safe for a few months.
If Izuku didn’t say anything, he simply smiled at the alpha’s reassuring scent. The man he loved was finally returning home and their child will be able to feel genuine love from his parents for the rest of his life

The rest of the afternoon passed in the blink of an eye, with shining students listening to their favorite hero’s advice, The curious emerald eyes never stopped looking at the taller figure beside him, having a hard time realizing how he was finally here after all those longing and desperate wishes. Izuku wasn’t naive and noticed how relieved his husband was during their slight break, complaining about how he should’ve rested for a few hours, under the amused and concerned expression on the omega’s face.
This didn’t stop the captiving emerald eyes to look at the captivating crimson ones, cherishing the the blond’s presnce The sunset revealed its brightest shade of Bronze and Burnt Sienna, highlighting the slight change of expression on the blond’s face, from the eyes twitching to the hidden smirk crossing his lips, under a specific angle that only Izuku could distinguish.
He learned each line of his favorite book which was Katsuki’s existence and could recall each quote he adored as the vows the couple shared on the altar on this fateful summer day. The simple fact that his old nightmares simply erased themselves once the familiar shadow crossed the room was enough to appease his tormented heart, relieved to see how the taller man standing a few centimeters away from him wasn’t the result of his imagination.
It was evident how the distance created more insecurities, but their romantic reunion explored this physical warmth they couldn’t show on a phone call…the delicacy of every touch and delight chuckle in the room was enough to transform those fears into their new promises of tomorrow. The coldness of their nights was now a blurry memory, as a small blush colored the freckled cheeks, with longing eyes toward this unreachable figure that used to be a dream too good to be true, until it became his favorite narrative.
The quick heartbeat inside his chest reminded him how he didn’t have to be afraid anymore, not when his husband had no idea about the surprise awaiting him. After all, the great Dynamight came out alive he deserved the best treatment for sacrificing his life every day and making his proof to the rest of the world.
If some of his students noticed the sweet glances exchanged between the two men, they didn’t say anything, relieved to see their favorite teacher gaining some color back in his face. Once the loud bell started to resonate in the entire building, the crowd dissipated into different paths to leave the school, leaving the two figures in the room, with their thoughts and genuine excitement. Izuku was still mad at his lover for not taking care of himself, but he wanted to thank him for brightening his day in the most memorable way. Scarred fingers cleaned the last stuff in the empty room, under the tender glance of his husband, who simply stared at his shorter figure with this casual grin on his face…the one Izuku missed more than his own life.
Their hands intertwined once they reached the car, leaving the public parking under the curious eyes of, who noticed how Dynamight was, once again, another guest in Midoriya-Sensei’s class. The road wasn’t as quiet as the couple imagined, losing themselves in the slight melody playing as background noises, with open windows and fresh hair ruffling their face in this warm landscape. The conversation was smooth, with Izuku’s questions, sharing a slight smile when their hated skin met, realizing how their comfortable house waited for them.
Luckily, the road was calm enough compared to the other days, and the two men wanted to believe it was a sign from fate to trust the unknown, but they did have another plan crossing their minds. A slight chuckle escaped from the freckled man’s lips when he felt the longing calloused palm caressing his thighs in gentle movements, before stealing his attention with a loving kiss. Their shadows returning to their doorstep and putting the keys in the lock, remind them how much they missed seeing this place being alive, with the casual welcome after a tough day.
Their two shadows closed the door with precious chuckles, followed by a tease as their shoes and coat found the wooden floor. The strong hands wrapped themselves around the other’s neck, while scarred fingers cupped his childhood friend’s cheeks with delicate movements. Emerald eyes lost themselves in the crimson ones, welcoming this ethereal sensation of being at home after so many wasted tears.
The cold lock of the bedroom echoed in the silenced house as the background noises of moving sheets acted as a reminder of the past that haunted their mind for too long. The heated flames of their unexpected reunion manifested themselves into the most charming promises they sealed until now: the mutual whispers became their favorite song as praise transformed into enchanting vows, similar to the ones they exchanged on that fateful day that sealed their fate together. The tears that fell down their cheeks echoed as a result of distance being now a blurry memory to their hearts, mixed with genuine pleasure and happiness of seeing this unreachable dream becoming a reality.
The discreet glances they shared in the euphoria of the moment reflected the relief of being each other’s biggest pride, sending them back to a youth that brought them together. Those muffled confessions were marked by the ethereal beauty of their reunion, where two missing halves succeeded in finding each other by transforming their fears into the most charming fairytale of this decade. If Katsuki used his last strength to cherish the breathtaking show under his eyes, he didn’t hesitate to use marks as a reminder of this reunion, under the gentle embrace and touches of those eyes who waited impatiently until his return.
After a few laughs and a sentimental “I love you” mumbled in the silent room, the stubborn alpha decided to succumb to tiredness. Izuku didn’t mind resting a little longer inside his husband’s warmth, falling for the delicate melody of his heartbeat as his favorite songs and stolen kisses against his skin, marked by each other’s presence. Delicate thumbs played with his skin by caressing the exposed parts, holding the taller figure closer, and taking a quick glance at the sleeping figure beside him.
He wouldn’t wish for a better fate than this one, and yet, the hardest part was to leave this embrace, hearing the desperate call for help from his stomach.. The shorter man simply left the previous warmth against his will but didn’t hesitate to steal a kiss against the blond's forehead while putting the sheet against his skin. After grabbing some clothes near reach, the freckled man closed the door and walked through the kitchen with a sigh.
His hands rested against his belly, releasing a tender scent that betrayed his relief about this day, full of surprises. He was sure it would be a great story to share with their child once this little bean is a part of this world, and the simple idea of seeing this human residing inside his womb and holding him in his arms melted his heart. The omega took a few seconds to focus on the situation: he didn’t need to make it too explicit once his husband woke up, and would use his excitement as a good excuse for this sudden change of behavior.
“I told you, Daddy will always come back for us,” his voice whispered, hoping his pup could feel the happiness through each of his heartbeats. In the past, he would’ve skipped the meal to fall asleep in his husband’s arms, but now he had two mouths to feed! “He’s pretty tough and full of surprises, but you’ll get used to it…Now it’s time to eat something before passing out. I’m not sure Kacchan will like it, but it’s a question of time for making you the center of his world, sweetie.”
—----
When Katsuki opened his eyes, he immediately searched for the heartwarming presence of his mate. His thumbs, previously warmed under the sheets, ended up meeting the fresh air and bringing him back to the cold sensation of an empty bed.
A groan escaped from his lips, resting his head against the pillow and frowning like a child who was punished for something unfair. He was mature enough to have the right reaction at the perfect timing, but his stubbornness was one of Izuku’s favorite qualities, bringing him back to the old days. The old memories started replaying inside his mind as Katsuki sighed, staring at the roof over his head, and stayed focused on the half-open door, revealing how the freckled man was probably checking on him from time to time.
The existence of this statement melted his heart and drew a hidden smile at the corner of his lips, knowing didn't have to spend another night in this shitty bed now he found his cozy house. Being in this familiar environment was everything the blond needed, but he missed having those silly green curls against his chest or a familiar voice asking if he was alright.
However, he couldn’t deny how this nap was more than necessary to get some rest, especially when he felt the need to eat something after this emotional rollercoaster. His feet found the cold floor before getting some comfort in his slippers, pushing the door to catch the living room brightened by a small light enough to give a clear sensation of warmth.
The first detail that caught his eye was how the table was ready with two plates, some candles, and preparation, to celebrate his return. A distinct scent crossed his nose, noticing the food on the hob, an echo of the first time they prepared their meals in this place…being a fond memory of their narrative.
“Look who’s finally awake, how was your nap, sleeping beauty ?” The omega’s voice asked with a teasing tone, closing the bathroom door to walk closer to the taller figure. An amused expression appeared on his face as he wrapped his hands around his lover’s waist and rested his head on his shoulders. Izuku simply welcomed the heavy scent, which became his symbol of safety through the years, despite their ups and downs. “Didn't want to wake you up after the sweet reunion we had, even if I’m still mad you haven’t taken enough rest.”
“If I lived with my mom I would’ve known it a long time ago, but a few hours of sleep aren’t that bad if this means spending more time with the person I love, unless you have something else in mind,” Katsuki replied with a smirk, turning around to cup his husband’s chubby cheeks and was touched by the amused expression on his breathtaking irises. The war might’ve tried to take him away from his happy ending, but Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo will always find a way to get back to each other, in every lifetime.
“I like the idea, but are you sure you’re up for this? Your body still needs rest and I would feel bad to force you, imagine what the doctor might say if he learn about this,” Izuku pointed out with a concerned tone, leaning into the calloused hands and the reassuring touch, while staring into his crimson eyes like he was the most precious treasure at the palm of his hands.
The strong hands moved closer to his back and brought their faces to a few centimeters, forcing their glance to meet and recall the very first kiss they exchanged in their youth, unaware of the rest of this journey. Scarred fingers lost their way into the alpha’s neck, making a slight smile and waiting for his answer, knowing it was something they promised to do once everything was back to normal.
“Why should I be afraid of this old man who probably forgot about his youth,” the taller figure affirmed with a grin, putting lost curls behind his husband’s ears and noticing the delicate blush coloring his chubby cheeks. The blond caught the sudden change of scent, and put the blame on the excitement that might impact each other’s scent for a day or two, it was nothing to be worried about. “I can’t see why a movie marathon would be a source of problems when I have time to catch up with my favorite idiot.”
“I bet the bags under your eyes won’t say the same thing after tonight, You know, the house was pretty silent without you, I almost missed your stupid comments,” Izuku teased with a chuckle, stealing a quick kiss against his husband’s lips as the blond simply rolled his eyes and let the shorter man leave, after marking his wrist with his scent, a gesture that made Izuku smile. They both missed that kind of gentle attention toward each other, making unconscious promises to cherish each of them…especially when the freckled man had one final secret he needed to reveal later. “Now come on, I’m not sure my cooking skills improved since my last attempts, but you’ll be the judge. I also heard your stomach calling for help, so you need to get some energy for tonight, big boy.”
“If you call me that again I’ll make sure to let you eat the spiciest Katsudon that’ll make your trip to the toilet a real hell,” he fought back with a challenging tone but the freckled man wasn’t afraid.
He put his used hands against his mouth and pretended to be shocked, only to face a middle finger from his childhood friend, who slowly helped him to put the heated meal on the wooden table. Despite eating earlier to please the little bean, the freckled man agreed to join the dinner and keep company with his grumpy husband, who filled the void by explaining how much he missed this place.
The omega looked amazed between each of his words, as he made sure to finish his plate and hear the praise leaving his lover’s lips, explaining how he should leave him a little longer next time if this meant getting an amazing meal like this one. Izuku’s face turned offended by the comment, putting his arms against his chest, and he started to ignore the taller figure, who chose to apologize through meaningful gestures. The calloused fingers found the scarred ones and intertwined with this delicate skin, until the freckled man offered this victory to the stubborn hero, by shutting him down with a kiss.
The two childhood friends missed this delicate intimacy, reflecting their genuine love and yet, it was nothing compared to the next months of their lives! After cleaning the dishes and wearing more cozy clothes, their two shadows appeared in the living room, with their blanket and hot chocolate in the corner, as the first DVD was playing. The previous silence was filled with the background noises of the movie happening with their voices quoting some moments, returning to their childhood. Their fingers met most of the time, sensing the wedding rings on their brushed skin that saw too much horror to have peace of mind, such as their souls, who knew they’d cherish each moment like there was no tomorrow.
The hours passed by as the neighborhood started to get silent and their house ended up being the last one awake. Anyone could distinguish their shadows in the living room, with the messy curls resting against the blond's shoulders, and the taller figure bringing the scarred hands to his lips with a light scent. This night couldn’t be more perfect than it already was, but the freckled man couldn’t have peace of mind, wondering when it would be the perfect time to announce the news. His heart missed a beat and his fingers held the calloused ones tighter, catching the blond's attention and forcing them to stop the movie.
“What’s wrong ?” Katsuki asked with a curious tone, that quickly turned into a concerned one.
The crimson eyes searched into his mate’s glances and noticed a few changes in his irises after the question, but he couldn’t name the main issue as he always does. He was frustrated to be powerless in this situation, knowing he wanted to help his lover, but the freckled man seemed preoccupied by something else. Izuku sighed, bringing their entwined hands closer to his lips to drop a delicate kiss: His cheeks got redder at the excitement filling his chest, but he decided to grab this occasion, knowing he couldn’t wait a little longer.
“Actually…There’s something I want to say, nothing important but I kinda prepared a gift for your return ?” Izuku explained with an embarrassed tone, acting like a teenager offering his first Valentine’s gift to his lover.
He didn’t have any reason to be stressed, especially when the two men had known each other since diapers, but the possibility of rejection remained an option the freckled man took into account. That’s why he decided to make this more mysterious, especially when Izuku remained smarter than him in every situation.
“You know you don’t need to do such a thing, being with you is already my biggest pride, especially when you look at me with these stupid eyes,” despite the calming and supportive words shared by his lover, the freckled man knew it was the perfect timing. He decided to play the innocent a little longer and tease his mate, pinching his shoulders and captivating his entire attention creating the perfect setting for the next revelations.
“Kacchan, I know you don’t like presents but I promise you’ll love this one. I made it with care and I’m pretty sure you won’t forget about it…just trust me, love,” he confessed, creating a m mystery concerning the content in the box, still unknown to the curious alpha.
“I always do,” he replied with a gentle tone, stealing a quick kiss against his mate’s forehead, noticing the shining emerald eyes. His heart missed a beat at the sight, realizing how he had fallen in love with his childhood friend a second time, especially when the nerd looked at him with so much adoration. “Now bring me your All Might golden statue,”
“Too bad it’s not this one, but I’ll keep it in mind for your next birthday,” Izuku added with a laugh, his shorter shadow leaving the couch. Both men immediately missed their previous warmth, but it was a matter of time before they were reunited again. Katsuki looked at him with an amused expression on his face, melting the omega’s heart and having no doubts that his lover would make the best father for their future child. “I have one request, close your eyes, it won’t be long, I promise.”
“Then you should move your ass because I already miss you, freckles,” the taller figure added as he oneyed and heard a precious chuckle escaping from his husband’s lips.
The silence in the house acted as a heavy reminder of the pas months, but this anxiety dissapeared when the green-haired man approached their bedroom, losing his hands in the clothes to grab a box he kept hidden all along. Being on its own gave him enough time to prepare the announcement, even if he was anxious at the idea of getting closer to the moment he waited the most….
He remembered the day he bought the content inside the box, realizing how everything was real, despite not knowing the gender of their child. The scarred hands opened the box to put the presents in a better position and take a deep breath: A few meters away, was residing his husband, who had absolutely no idea about the life Izuku was bearing as the result of their mutual horny mess and genuine love.
The anxiety filled his chest, preparing himself for every kind of answer, even if he wanted a positive one, but the omega was ready to handle a conversation about this topic and its consequences if necessary. After closing the box with delicateness, he wrapped his fingers around his inexpedient belly and wondered how this little bean must feel. At this stage of the pregnancy, their child doesn’t know anything about the outside world, except for the chosen narrative by his parents, but the endless wait was finally over.
“I’m scared too, but it’s now or never, wish me good luck,” he whispered with a deep breath.
Izuku remembered the conversation he had with his pup that calm night and was more than happy to know he could provide some comfort and sincere affection to this person who’s already his biggest pride, despite being inside the womb. His scarred hands grabbed the box closer to his chest and opened the door, revealing how the taller man turned his head after hearing footsteps beside him. Izuku simply smiled at the happenstance that drew their fates closer, especially when they started as innocent souls who promised to bring the world down for each other’s smiles. The shorter man put the present on the alpha’s legs as he explained how Katsuki could finally open his eyes.
“I know this is stupid, knowing we already have everything we ever wanted, but consider this as my way to congrats you for being my hero and saving the world,” he pointed out with a soft tone, losing his fingers against the fabric of his pant, a gesture that reflected his stress about the upcoming reactions.
At this moment, Izuku lost the of the situation and he was forced to see if fate was in his favor, while the calloused hands simply ruffled his messy curls before reaching the present under his eyes. Many questions resided at the tip of his lips, as he slowly took cover and was caught by surprise by its content.
Under his eyes was a bunch of information he needed to process: The first thing that caught his attention was the tiny bear, quickly followed by baby clothes wearing a text that immediately melted his heart. “Daddy’s biggest fan”, as it is explicitly described, especially when the colors on it reflected Dynamight’s costume with its shade of orange and dark. Katsuki wasn’t stupid and could sense how his first thoughts guided him to the right conclusion, but his eyes widened when he noticed the echography with a quick note, with the text: “You’ve always been my favorite hero, make sure to be his for the next years”.
The sudden realization hit him like a slap in the face, holding the precious paper in the palm of his hand while connecting the dots with the sudden change of scent in the last hours. It made sense now that he understood why his lover was more sensitive than usual and stressed about the supposed gift: Izuku had the audacity to call this “nothing” when he underestimated how it was probably the best thing that could ever happen to them.
The couple mentioned the topic of children a few times, explaining how they’ll think about it when the right time has come, but thousands of questions crossed the alpha’s mind, glancing at the hesitant omega, playing stressfully with his shaking legs on the carpet. The fear of rejection appeared evident in those hesitant irises when both men knew how a complete lifetime without each other was considered a curse to their shattered souls. However, he succeeded in distinguishing some tears that concisely fallen down his cheeks, and used the occasion to wipe them away and catch the omega’s attention, who held his breath until now.
Izuku wondered how he should react but a simple glance at his husband’s eyes and he immediately knew the truth: If Katsuki needed more time to accept how this was real, such as Izuku’s last months, this doesn't mean he wasn’t against this idea of adoring this child as the most precious gift they’ve ever received.
The heavy pressure on his shoulders faded away the moment a slight smile crossed his shaking lips, before resting his head against his husband’s chest and holding him as close as possible. Katsuki was supposed to be the one in an emotional mess, but instead, it was Izuku releasing all the anxiety he had contained for the last months. Scarred hands held the fabric of the blond’s shirt and released his sobs muffled in the other’s clothes, as the strong hands brought him closer.
The sudden realization hit them in the face when the blond’s vision started to get blurry due to the sudden tears falling down his cheeks, afraid to let his mate go and wake up from this dream too good to be true. Don’t get him wrong, Katsuki had no idea about how to be a parent, nor as Izuku, who’ll definitely have his support in the rest of this adventure, but it was clear how the couple would gladly welcome this unexpected miracle that blessed their crazy journey. At this moment, the blond started to feel bad for missing the echography, but he made an unconscious promise to make his family safe until the end, even if this cost his life!
“Shit- I don’t even know what to say,” he mumbled with a shaking tone, regaining his breath as he stepped away from the previous embrace, and simply stared at the teary emerald eyes. His fingers whipped the tears away from his husband’s porcelain skin until he succeeded in reading the ethereal expression on Izuku’s face. If the shorter man was too shy to speak, due to the previous intense emotions, his radiant smile succeeded in blinding the crimson eyes, which fell under this enchanting spell. “Since when- Why didn’t you tell me earlier-”
“To my defense, I didn’t know anything until you left for the overseas mission,” Izuku pointed out in a gentle tone. He was relieved to see the heartwarming reaction from the man he loved, considering this as the most important discovery of his life, when he used to have the praise of thousands of people in public. His eyes glanced at the echography residing on the table, realizing how he didn’t have to hide this secret anymore and couldn’t wait to let the others know about this unexpected surprise. “It surprised me when I learned the news one week after your departure, but I couldn’t say such a thing when the most important quest of your career just started! I naturally waited and prepared everything until you returned to me…to us, and if you knew earlier, you would’ve risked your life and I would’ve hated myself if it were the case.”
“This explains a lot but…” Katsuki didn’t know what to say, stunned by the news. He needed time to realize that he’d be a dad, a symbolic role he never considered until now but he was prouder to know that this child was coming from the man he loved, in every universe. He wouldn’t wish for a better gift than this one, even when it was way better than thousands of victories on the battlefield. “How did you handle the situation? How’s your body? How do you feel- Shit, and the echography, I should've been there-”
“Kacchan, look at me,” The scarred hands rested against the blond’s cheeks, catching his complete attention. Izuku laughed when he realized how his lover was panicking about everything he missed, being the supportive partner he had always been since the beginning of their relationship. The shorter man couldn’t wish for a better lover than him, especially when the man he adored was the father of his child, and the chance to extend their loving affection to another degree with timeless vows. “It’s okay, I had my reason to act that way, but you saved the world. I couldn’t steal this victory away from you and I’ve always been a patient person, especially when it comes to you.”
“Izuku, we both know I would rather stand by your side than be far away from my family and my mate,” the taller figure added with a sad tone, making the omega worried. The freckled man intertwined their fingers together to put their wedding rings at the corner of their lips. He left a gentle kiss against their heated skin, catching a scarlet color on the alpha’s face.
“That’s why I wanted to make sure we’re both in peace for an unforgettable event like this one,” he pointed out, slowly moving their heated skin against the nonexistent belly. This gesture was meaningful for both of them as a symbol of a new beginning. “You didn’t miss anything and the doctor said we still have two months until I feel the first movements, and I would’ve also waited this long if this meant being mesmerized by your breathtaking glance. I understand your worries and I would’ve felt the same if the roles were reversed, but our pup is healthy in every way possible. My biggest pride is how our child can finally hear your voice.”
“I-”
“I wasn’t alone the entire time and I have some company, especially in the middle of the night when I was explaining how exciting I would be once you finally returned home and started taking care of them,” the shorter man explained, stealing a gentle kiss against his husband’s forehead. Katsuki sighed, moving his body against the smaller figure, and rested his head on the omega’s shoulders. Izuku simply smiled at the reaction, knowing Katsuki needed time to accept the news and release his emotions, but there was no doubt the two men would be more than grateful to welcome this child into their house. “I’m happier than ever to know he's yours and we have a new goal to focus on, I’m afraid of making mistakes too but it’ll be fine….as long as we have each other and we’re here for this child, that’s all that matters to me.”
Katsuki held the shorter man closer, feeling the scarred fingers playing with his spiky hair. He calmed down at the reassuring gesture, naturally losing his eyes on the covered belly, having no idea how he’d react at the birth if he was already in an emotional mess at the announcement. It was crazy to think that someone was living inside a thing as vulnerable as a womb, but the most important thing was how Izuku was the one bearing life: After all; Katsuki was only the contributor to this process, but his husband remained the one who has to make all the sacrifices and upcoming changes!
He promised himself to treat Izuku as the amazing lover he was and make sure nothing happened to the most important people in his life, even if his parents and friends would probably freak out at the unexpected news. The presence of the teddy bear and the baby’s clothes in the box reminded him how small a child could be compared to his big hands! Maybe he’ll make their pup fall by accident due to his stress or even worse- what if he couldn’t handle the stress and make things worse for his mate?
No, Katsuki shouldn’t jump into the worst-case scenarios when he knew how strong his childhood friend was. Izuku succeeded in beating shigaraki and him in the rank, and there was no reason for his mate to give up when he was wearing this touching smile on his face. The only thoughts that crossed the blond's mind at the moment were the desire to let this firstborn have the same adorable freckles as their dam and Izuku’s beauty….
“I’m going to be a dad,” he whispered in a low voice if he had a hard time believing his own words. Izuku simply smiled and let his fingers cup the blond's cheeks, lost in those crimson teary eyes that seemed to be more than amazed at the idea of having a family. After all, the two men couldn’t wish for a better present than this one, especially when this child’s existence was a reminder of their lover’s presence until their dying days. “I’m going to be a fucking dad, and you-”
“I’m going to be a dam, but I know you’ll do an amazing job,” he replied with a warm tone, tearing up.
The previous worries disappeared in the blink of an eye: After all, he got the man he loved back and he’ll have his child, covered with timeless love. A chuckle escaped from his lips when he welcomed the calloused thumbs wiping his tears away in gentle movements and lips meeting his wrist, forcing the shorter figure to move his head against his alpha’s chest.
“I still have a hard time believing it too, but I wouldn’t wish for a better ending. I made the promise on the altar, to share timeless vows to your heart, and I don’t think an entire lifetime could be enough to express how much I love you. You’ve also made this possible and I’m forever grateful for this miracle….now we need to stand until the little bean is here, even if he already heard a lot about you.”
“I bet you already shared annoying anecdotes about me, but I’m not and will never be mad for such a thing. I thought returning him by your side was my biggest pride, but you still found a way to surprise me…I don’t think there’s a day passing by where my heart and soul don’t belong to you,” Katsuki whispered with a soft tone, one he usually reserved for his husband when no one was looking. Izuku held the taller man closer, letting him know how much he cared about him and his implication in their child’s life. “But tell me, what’s his actual size? They must have a way to see how tiny our pup is.”
“I don’t think I’ve asked this question in my last appointment, but you can do it it the next time,” he replied with an amused tone, excited at the idea that his husband would stand by his side for the rest of his life and be an amazing father to this child. “For the moment, I called him Little Bean. I consider this cute…and he didn't seem to be bothered by that. You should have a talk with him, I know he probably missed you more than me.”
“Are you sure ?” Katsuki asked with a hesitant tone until the shorter man made some space to guide their intertwined fingers toward the belly.
The touch was intimate, especially when the omega seemed to do it with so much ease, while Katsuki was afraid of making things wrong. The blond had a lot of things to learn about what a pregnant omega should eat or not and the recurrent symptoms, but he wouldn’t mind being there to calm the fear about being new parents in the upcoming months.
He simply moved his head closer to the omega’s belly and seemed hesitant to say a word, almost like the sudden volume would be too strong for their child’s ears. A simple nod from Izuku was enough to convince him to confess his thoughts, even if he was pretty sure their pup couldn’t understand the meaning of his next words.
“I…I’ve never been a good example due to my rude behavior, but my feelings for your dam are stronger than any victories on the battlefield. I might sound hard to read and full of flaws, but I promise I’ll bring the world down for a glimpse of you and your dam’s smile, even if this means being hated by an entire country,” the taller man mumbled, starting to understand why his mate was so attached to this sensation. After all, it was the kinds of souvenirs the couple will cherish once their newborn is a part of this world. “I still have a hard time realizing how you’re growing up there, but I know you’re safe and we’ll do everything possible to keep you comfortable. My only request is to have your dam’s beauty because I want to look into your eyes and see the man I love for the rest of my days.”
“And I want him to have your courage, it makes us equal,” Izuku explained, wiping his tears away after the previous speech. He couldn’t wait to share similar moments like this one for the rest of their lives, no matter if this child inherited his parents’ beauty of courage. “We’ll be fine, I promise.”
The same night, Izuku and Katsuki kept talking about the thousands of questions and projects residing at the tip of their lips, until the sun started to rise through the curtains. Another day appearing in this narrative they adored more than their own lives, especially when this child was already covered with an ethereal affection.
