The rain felt heavy on Susie’s skin as it dissolved into her purple body. She looked back at Kris’ house, their home. Susie didn’t have much of a home to go back too and she couldn’t go back to Kris’s after what she had seen just moments ago. There was only one place she could go back too. Susie thought she would never think these words.
She had to back to school.
Lucky for Susie, the school was unlocked. Each step she made in the empty halls echoed off the walls. She couldn’t get it out her head. The prophecy. Although she said she wouldn’t let it happen, it still hurt knowing the truth. She couldn’t pretend the Dark World was just a fun adventure anymore. Despite what Ralsei may say, it was more real than ever.
Once more, Susie entered the supply closet and descended into the Dark World and to Castle Town. The town had fallen quiet, even in the Dark World the people must sleep. As she walked through the silent streets she could still hear quiet soothing music coming from the Café. Finally she made it to Ralsei’s castle. Suddenly it hit Susie, usually Ralsei meets Susie and Kris at the entrance of Castle Town eagerly waiting for them. Tonight however, Ralsei was nowhere to be found.
Susie rushed into the castle, frantically running up the stairs. As she ascended the staircase her mind ran wildly with thoughts about Ralsei, where could he be? Why didn’t he greeted her? Is he okay? Susie knew the answer to that last one. After what happened in the church dark world. Susie couldn’t imagine Ralsei was okay.
After what felt like years, Susie reached the third floor walking by Queen’s and Tenna’s room. She stopped at the door to Ralsei’s room. She felt her hand shake as she reached for door handle. Taking a deep breath, she pulled down the door handle and opened the door. Susie eyes widen as she took in the room. It seems all the various stuff Susie and Kris had grabbed for his room back in the dark world had appeared in his room. Then she spotted him. Ralsei sitting on the couch cushion she had nabbed for him. He has staring intently into a mirror in his room while the plushie Kris had gifted him was sitting peacefully on his lap. Hearing the door open, Ralsei turned his head towards the door. His eyes become wide as saucers under his glasses as he stared at Susie. Her blood still stained his cheek red.
”S-Susie!” He blurted out shocked to see Susie in his room. He quickly stood up turning to face her. He gave her a weak fake smile. “If I had known you were coming I would have cleaned up a bit. Is Kris here too?”
Susie stepped ever so slightly closer to Ralsei. “Nah dude, it’s just me tonight” She said rubbing her hand on the back of her head. An awkward pause began to creep in. They both wanted to talk about the previous adventure but they were both two scared to be the first to bring it up.
”Your cheek, it’s still…” Susie voice trailed off as she gazed at his blood stained cheek. A reminder of the burden they both now have to carry. The truth.
”I tried to clean it off…but I guess it’s harder to get blood out of fur than I imagined” Ralsei explained, his cheeks turning flushed ever so slightly.
“You want me to give it a try?” Susie asked.
”Oh…it’s fine…really! It will go away eventually…” Ralsei lowered his head, his eyes adverting their gaze with Susie.
”I’ll be back in sec, don’t go anywhere!” Susie ordered as she left the room with a huff. She returned a moment later with small bucket of water and wash cloth.
”Susie, where did you- how did you-“ Ralsei was cut off by Susie has she stepped closer. “Dude Lancer was like infinite buckets in his room”. Ralsei giggled slightly, covering his mouth with his small hand. Susie couldn’t help but smile as he giggled. She loved the way he covered his mouth. She felt a little warmth in her cheeks whenever he did.
Susie stepped closer to Ralsei, she placed her hand on his shoulder to help her lean in close to Ralsei.
“Susie…I-“ Ralsei’s cheeks turned bright red. He squirmed slightly under Susie’s touch. Her face was inches from his. He stared deep into her yellow eyes. Only to find that kindness he had grown to love from Susie within them.
”Stop blushing so much, I can barely tell where the blood is” Susie said as she brought the wash cloth to Ralsei’s soft and fluffy cheek. Susie tried as gently as she could to clean the blood off. Gently stroking his cheek with the cloth in a slow circular motion.
Ralsei tore his gaze away from Susie. In this moment he felt happy but it was bittersweet. They both knew the ending of prophecy now. It was getting harder and harder for him to pretend everything was okay. His eyes swelled with tears. Susie pulled her hand back suddenly as she saw Ralsei’s watery eyes.
“Was I being to rough? I-“ Susie was cut off by Ralsei as he stepped away from her.
”I’m sorry Susie, I never meant for this-“ Tears began to roll down his cheeks as he fell to his knees. “N-Now you know the truth. It was better when only I knew. It hurt to know the truth but…” Ralsei’s voice shook with emotion. He covered his eyes with his hands in an attempt to hide his tears. Susie quickly knelt down beside him. Wrapping her arms around his small soft body.
“But…but I’m not real…I’m just a shadow…an illusion. I’m not supposed to feel hurt…” Ralsei began to shake in Susie’s arms.
Susie gripped Ralsei harder, pulling him flush against her body. “D-don’t say that! I told you before. You’re r-real to me!” Her eyes swelled with tears as she fought not to let them out.
”I don’t care what some dumbass prophecy has to say. I’ll always be there to protect you Ralsei…because I- because you’re my friend”
Ralsei calmed down just a small bit. Looking up at Susie with his large pink eyes made Susie’s heart skip a beat. It thumped loudly in her chest. “It might be better this way, you don’t have to carry the burden alone anymore. Together we can get through this. You and me” Susie said, ruffling her hand through Ralsei’s fur gently.
”Susie…you’re so kind. You’re right! Together we can get through this. Together” Ralsei nuzzled his cheek against Susie’s as they together, wrapped in each other’s embrace for a moment. All the struggles they went through. The truths they had learned and the daunting challenges they had still yet to face, vanished. Even if just for a moment. The world was just the two of them. Wrapped around each other.
“Uh…I kinda need to sleep and well… your room doesn’t have a bed at the moment. So, I guess we’ll go back to my room” Susie rambled on awkwardly.
”I’d love that Susie!” Ralsei exclaimed eagerly jumping from Susie’s arms and walking to door. Susie quickly followed suit and the pair walked down to her room. Susie sat down her bed, taking off her cuffs. She looked confused at Ralsei as he sat down on the floor.
“What are you doing dude?”
“Well you have the bed so I’ll sleep on the floor” Ralsei explained sheepishly, his cheeks turning red once again.
”You can sleep on my bed, dumbass!” Susie laughed as she patted the space on the bed next to her. Susie felt her body melt. Ralsei was so clueless. It was so adorable.
”In your bed?! But- but- it’s a small- we would be too-“ Ralsei nervously rambled on. He instinctively fumbled with his ears with made Susie’s heart melt even more.
”Just get in here!” Susie shouted as she grabbed Ralsei by the his waist and pulled him into her bed, letting him lay on top of her. Ralsei had taken off his glasses before laying on the floor and now Susie was centimetres away from his beautiful cherry blossom like eyes. Susie cheeks flushed ever so slightly as she felt butterflies in her stomach. Susie had never felt this way before. It was strange and alien to her but it felt right with Ralsei.
“Susie-“ Ralsei’s face was as red as a tomato at the point as his nose brushed against Susie’s.
”Ralsei-“ Susie replied. Her tongue unconsciously darting out to wet her lips. His face was so closer to hers. His weight felt so right laying on top her. Ralsei shivered as Susie’s hands began to roam around his back.
“Ralsei…I can’t hold back more…I- Can I kiss…you?” Susie boldly asked. She badly wanted to press her lips against his but she needed to know he was comfortable.
”Please Susie…please do” Ralsei confessed. Susie gently moved her hand up to the back of his head, guiding him as she leaned in closer him. Their lips finally met. Touching against each other. Susie’s hand kept Ralsei there, against her lips. Susie pulled her hand back allowing Ralsei to lift his head up and pull his lips off Susie’s. He looked down at her out of breath slightly. Susie looked up at him with a smug grin.
“What’s that look for?!” Ralsei said blushing slightly, turning his face away from her.
”Your lips felt better than I imagined”. Hearing Susie say that made Ralsei turn beat red. Susie’s hand gently gripped Ralsei’s chin to make him look at her as she leaned in once again. This time however, Ralsei opened his mouth, letting Susie’s tongue explore his mouth. Their tongues met and swirled around each other like a dance. Susie’s grip tightened around the fur on the back of Ralsei’s head. After a few moments of this, Susie pulled away, leaving Ralsei panting and breathless. His pink eyes full of love as he stared into Susie’s yellow ones.
Susie let out a long yawn “Man, am I tired after today. I wanna keep kissing…” Susie said as she left a trail of kisses down along Ralsei’s neck, savouring the sweet noises he made with each kiss. “But I gotta sleep…wanna cuddle?” Susie asking invitingly.
”Of course Susie!” Ralsei responded eagerly. A toothy grin appeared on Susie’s face as turned to her side. She wrapped her arms around Ralsei pulling him close. Ralsei placed his small hands on her back as he rested his head in the crook of her neck, letting out a content sigh. Susie rested her chin on his head in response.
”No matter what, I’ll always be there for you Ralsei” Susie murmured quietly while the pair drifted off to sleep, ready to face whatever challenged laid away for them tomorrow.
