Summary
Bilbo Baggins, son of the late preacher Bungo, has inherited the pulpit of his small Shire parish, and though often compared unfavorably to his father, he had grown into his own as a priest—gentle, progressive, and quietly stubborn in his convictions.
What begins as a priest’s duty to extend kindness, becomes something more complicated when strangers arrive—broad-shouldered, bearded, and carrying the weight of the world. Thorin’s piercing gaze lingers too long, and Bilbo isn’t sure if it’s judgment… or something else entirely.
There’s faith, and then there’s temptation. And sometimes even a priest can’t tell the difference.
