A-COURTING TO PLAN

Summary:

Jungkook Jeon is not like most Omegas- he’s loud, outspoken, extroverted, full of energy, and loves to work out. He either gets mistaken for a “typical Alpha” or constantly heckled and flirted on by Alphas everyday- but he’s damn proud to be an Omega.

Taehyung Kim, on the other hand, has been told he’s not a “normal Alpha” for as long as he can remember. He’s quiet, shy, introverted, gentle, and artistic. Even his strawberry scent isn’t considered a “usual” Alpha scent!

And unlike most of the Alphas that Taehyung knows…he’s the complete opposite of smooth…or wanted. In fact, he’s never courted OR dated anyone. Well, it also doesn’t help that’s he’s never been romantically or sexually interested in anyone…He figures he’ll just die alone with his guitar by his side.

But suddenly, everything changes when Jungkook and Taehyung meet and lock eyes one fateful afternoon, soon leading to a wonderful friendship.

Now, Taehyung is feeling things he’s never felt before...love. He decides to court Jungkook so that he can show him that he loves him, and that he can be a good Alpha for him.

What follows are Taehyung’s five attempts at courting Jungkook that don’t quite go “according to plan”…

Notes:

Prompt:

taehyung really wants to be Jungkook’s alpha so he does things to show him he’ll be the best at it but each attempt somehow ends in disaster and he feels discouraged and embarrassed but jungkook is endeared

dw: happy ending, third person, sweet jk, sweet th, humor if possible, ot7 shenanigans if possible

dnw: cheating, infidelity, tk with other people, too much angst, jealousy

🍵 🍌🍵 🍓🍵 🍌🍵🍓🍵🍌🍵🍓🍵🍌

“Iced matcha with oat milk and banana foam!”

Taehyung jumped up from his seat at the corner of the cafe where he was working on a sudoku puzzle to go grab his drink. He was gonna need at least 2 more of those if he was going to stay up to play the gig he had secured at the last minute that evening!

But just as he was about to grab his much needed, delicious drink, a tattooed hand beat him to it, taking the drink from his reach.

“Uhm…”

He turned to see who the culprit taking away his drink was, knowing he’d be too shy to tell them anything, but he was completely caught off guard when the most beautiful person he had ever seen stared right back at him.

The man had shiny, wavy black hair, a soft, milky white complexion, big, brown, boba eyes, glossy pink lips…

And he smelled divine! He could smell a sweet and subtle banana scent- and Taehyung loved bananas!

“Oh!” The stranger looked down at the drink. “I’m so sorry! I have my headphones on and heard iced matcha and ran up but it looks like this one has banana foam…I asked for strawberry.” The handsome man scrunched his nose and put the drink down, pulling his black headphones down and resting them around his neck.

As always, Taehyung did what he did best…

“I- I’m banana!”

The man stared at him and started giggling. But instead of pointing at him and mocking him (like he was used to), he reached out his tattooed covered hand.

“Hi banana. I’m strawberry.” Taehyung’s ears burned red as he reached out to shake “Mr. Banana’s” hand.

As soon as their hands touched, he swore he felt an electrical zap. The man must have felt it too, because he stared at their hands and tilted his head.

He then sniffed the air and smiled.

“Although, from the smell of it, it seems like you might be Mr. Strawberry and I’m Mr. Banana. Your scent smells really good!” The man slightly lowered his gaze, his cheeks getting a rosy tint

…perhaps the coffee shop was too warm?

Anywa-

“I love strawberries. They smell and taste amazing.”

Taehyung wanted to hide under a rock because as soon as the tattooed stranger said that he smelled his scent spike up, instantly covering their little space with the scent of ripe strawberries and sweet strawberry jam.

But surprisingly, he then smelled the stranger’s banana scent spike up too— it smelled lovely, like freshly baked banana bread!

“Iced matcha with oat milk and strawberry foam!” The voice of a barista that he knew extremely well called out. He then saw Hobi, his best friend. And owner of the coffee shop.

And apparently Hobi knew the banana scented stranger too!

“Hey Taehyung! I just came in and didn’t see you! Seems like you’ve met Jungkook! How are you, Kook?”

Jungkook…what a pretty name…

The pretty, tattooed, banana scented man -Jungkook- smiled at Hobi and spoke to him about so far loving his new job and how annoyed he already was at so many Alphas’ unwanted attention at work. Hobi, who was also an Omega, agreed that most city Alphas were too insistent, but that he knew plenty of good Alphas- like Taehyung.

Taehyung felt Jungkook stare at him with what looked like bright, shiny eyes. He awkwardly got his drink from the counter and took a sip as he silently stood there, not knowing what to say. He subtly smiled and nodded whenever Jungkook looked his way, which turned out to be quite often, but…

  1. He wasn’t the best at making conversation, and
  2. He had no idea what was going on...but he swore he was dying…

His heart was beating like 700 times a minute and his entire body and soul felt tingly- as if he’d been electrocuted! He felt like no words could come out of his mouth. And everytime the stranger looked in his direction, he felt like the wind had been knocked out of him. He literally felt like an electrocuted fish out of water!

“I gotta head back since I have a delivery coming in any minute, but let’s catch up one of these days over dinner, Kook! And Tae, I’ll see you later!” Hobi waved goodbye to the both of them and ran back, needing to do his duties as the owner of the coffee shop.

“I have to go too, but it was really nice meeting you, Strawberry Man. Maybe I’ll see you around soon? The three of us could get dinner together.” He stared directly at Taehyung with his bright boba eyes and a confident aura radiating around him.

“Y-yah! That would be nice!” Taehyung nodded rapidly, shocked that Jungkook had included him.

Taehyung then began to panic- it seemed he could barely survive a short interaction with the handsome st  Jungkook…how would he survive a dinner?!?

Jungkook pulled out his phone and frowned once he looked down. He then bit his lip, which was adorned with a lip ring, and shook his head, smiling when he looked back up. “Hey…would you mind putting your number in? Then the three of us can plan on making that dinner happen!”

The kind and pleasant smelling Omega suddenly looked nervous- but Taehyung chalked it up to being worried about getting back to work late.

“S-sure!” Taehyung quickly inserted his phone number so that Jungkook could be on his way.

The Omega literally clapped as he gave him back his phone. “Okay, I really have to head back to work no, but I hope to see you soon, Taehyung!” He then squeaked and turned around, hurriedly walking towards the door while tucking his hair behind his ear.

As Jungkook walked away, Taehyung felt he hadn’t properly responded, so he yelled out. “Oh- it was nice meeting you too, Jungkook. See you soon!”

Taehyung was embarrassed that he had just yelled in a busy coffee shop -even if it was owned by his best friend- but he surprisingly felt calm instead of anxious (like he usually did). Taehyung managed to see Jungkook turn around and smile, a rosy blush covering his cheeks once more, as he yelled out.

It was still warm out, so thank Luna Jungkook had gotten an iced drink to help him cool down from the heat, Taehyung thought to himself as he walked back to his usual little corner spot.

🌃 🌃 🌃 🌃 🌃 🌃 🌃

It was 7 pm and it was time for Taehyung to perform. He was sitting on a stool with his guitar in the middle of a little, dim lit Italian restaurant. The pay that night was minimal, but he didn’t care.

He just cared about playing his guitar, singing words he hoped resounded with someone. Even if it was just one person.

Taehyung was always told he wasn’t a “normal” Alpha- he was too gentle, too shy, too awkward, too scared…

But he somehow found his courage -his voice- on stage.

Yes, he was always anxious, but when he played an instrument or sang a song, all of his fears and anxiety vanished into thin air.

When he performed, he was brave.

He was loud. He was confident.

He felt…like he was normal.

A “normal Alpha”.

He usually followed the advice he told his music students when they felt a little nervous to play in front of others—

Take a deep breath. It’s just you and your instrument. Just think of the instrument in your hands and helping it reach as far as it can.

But tonight, strangely enough, that didn’t help.

Instead, he thought about what a good day it had been. Today had been a good day because he had met a kind and beautiful stranger.  An Omega named Jungkook.

Jungkook.

Jungkook, who hadn’t seemed to mind Taehyung’s “odd” nature. Jungkook, who had even been so kind to send him a text message wishing him a good night. And Jungkook, who although had made him feel a little strange earlier that day, also made him feel calm at the mere thought of him.

So, Taehyung smiled as he recounted what a good day it had been.

He then took a deep breath, and began.

🎶

You know those days, those days where you’re sad for no reason

Those days when your body feels heavy,

and it looks like everyone else except you is busy and fierce

Your footsteps don’t fall the way you want, feels like you’re already too late

And the whole world is just mean—

🎶

🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌

Since that day at the coffee shop, Taehyung couldn’t stop thinking about Jungkook. And Jungkook seemed to think about him too, since he had texted him every day since. In just a short time, they had become friends.

Very good friends.

They had made plans with Hobi to have dinner that coming Friday, choosing a Mexican restaurant that wasn’t too loud and that had great food.

The three of them spent that Friday night eating delicious Mexican food and talking- Hobi and Jungkook getting the chance to catch up and Taehyung and Jungkook getting to know each other even more.

Hobi had stared at the both of them that night happily, but Taehyung assumed he was just happy that two of his friends got along.

Jungkook then started texting Taehyung even more often, asking if he’d like help him explore the town. At first, Hobi tagged along, but slowly it became just the two of them. They went to museums -where Taehyung found out that Jungkook loved art- to concerts -where Jungkook discovered that Taehyung deeply loved music- to hiking trails, and beaches, and so many other places that Taehyung had never visited.

It had only been two months since they’d met, but ever since then, they had become practically inseparable.

Taehyung truly enjoyed hanging out with Jungkook the past two months. And even though he was slowly getting him out of his comfort zone, Taehyung always felt happy and safe with Jungkook.

He made him feel happy and safe- like he did when he was on stage with his guitar singing his songs.

Another thing that Taehyung loved was coming back to his apartment smelling like a strawberry banana smoothie since Jungkook was often cold and asked to wear his flannels or hoodies, meaning his scent was then on them.

The only “downside” of the entire friendship, if he could call it one, was that weird feeling in his heart that he always got when he was around Jungkook- the one that had started since that first day they met.

There was no doubt about it- he was gonna have to go to the doctor’s office to find out what was happening, because it was really starting to worry him!

One day, as he was working on writing a new song while at the coffee shop, Hobi sat down. One of his baristas had called out sick so he had been extremely busy all morning. But he finally had a chance to sit down, bringing two chocolate banana smoothies and a tasty caprese sandwich to share with Taehyung for lunch. As they ate and caught up, Jungkook mentioned his worries about his heart and how he was going to make an appointment for later that week.

Hobi immediately worried, hugging him, and asking what was wrong. He explained how his heart felt like it was beating 700 times a minute- like it was beating out of his chest!

And how it only happened around Jungkook, since the first day they met.

Taehyung was shocked that Hobi had suddenly gone from being at the verge of tears at how worried he was about him to an insanely wide grin and jumping out of his seat.

Maybe he should go to the doctor too…

“Wait! Tae- You ONLY feel like this around Jungkook? Our little banana nut muffin? THAT Jungkook?” Hobi insistently asked.

“Uhm…yes? I mean- it’s usually right at the beginning when we meet up and then when we say goodbye to each other and leave. But sometimes in the middle? Like last night, when we brushed hands while getting popcorn at the same time while watching a movie at the theater. But it also happens sometimes when we text each other, or when we’re talking on the phone, or when we’re on video calls- wait why are you crying?” Taehyung noticed how Hobi was sobbing into his hands.

Hobi then came up to him and hugged him, squeezing him tightly as he ruffled up his hair. “Tae…that’s love. I think -I mean I’m pretty sure- that sounds like love to me.”

Hobi then wiped a tear from his eye.

“Taehyung- I think you’re in love with Jungkook.”

🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌

“Love?” Taehyung tilted his head to the side as he pondered.

Love.

He had never been in love before. Heck- he had never even had a crush on someone before. But he assumed he was just a “broken” Alpha and would end up alone, laid next to his guitar and book of lyrics at the end of his life.

But the more he thought about it…

He liked seeing Jungkook everyday.

He liked seeing him smile and laugh, and knowing he was happy.

He liked hearing his voice, whether it be through a voice note telling him a silly joke or at dinner as he recounted his day.

He liked walking next to him, his banana scent subtly flooding his senses.

He liked knowing he was safe.

He missed him once he went back home-

“Hobi hyung…I think- I think I am in love with Jungkook.”

As Taehyung said it out loud, he couldn’t stop smiling.

He was in love.

He was in love with the kindest, prettiest, best smelling, and most interesting Omega on the planet.

He was in love!

But- but what should he do? They were friends, and what if Jungkook didn’t feel the same way? What if Jungkook felt uncomfortable that his Alpha friend suddenly loved him. Jungkook often mentioned how some Alphas automatically assumed he liked them since he was an Omega and how he found it so annoying.

Was Taehyung one of those Alphas?

Because no one had ever liked him, Taehyung Kim, before…

So why would Jungkook?

Jungkook couldn’t possibly feel the same way.

Jungkook was just a friend.

He was kind and friendly.

And he shouldn’t ruin that friendsh-

“Nope! I can totally see the dark clouds and negative thoughts infiltrating your head!” Hobi made a swatting motion above his head with his hands, as if though literally swatting away all the thoughts he had just had.

“Listen to me, Tae. You’re my best friend. And Jungkook is a really good friend. And I can’t really tell friends other friends secrets…but I need you to know that whatever crazy thoughts you’re having, like that Jungkook doesn’t like you back, is most likely NOT true, okay?” Hobi stared at him with a serious face, eyes bulging out and looking like they were about to pop out.

“Understand? Jungkook does not NOT like you…” Hobi then winked in slow motion as Taehyung tried his best to process what he had just said.

Jungkook not liking him back was most likely NOT true.

Jungkook did not NOT like him.

Jungkook-

“JUNGKOOK LIKES ME BACK?” Taehyung stood up, knocking over his chair as Hobi jumped up and down screaming “Yes! Yes! Yes!”

“Jungkook likes me! Hobi hyung- what should I do?” Taehyung couldn’t stop smiling at the various revelations that he had just experienced—

  1. He wasn’t dying of some mysterious heart disease that only worsened around Jungkook.
  2. He was in love with Jungkook!
  3. JUNGKOOK LIKED HIM!

Hobi grabbed a goofy smiled, swaying Taehyung by the shoulders, holding him steady. “Taehyung, my friend…it’s courting time!”

Taehyung was going to court Jungkook.

🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌

“Courting? I- I’ve never courted anyone before. What should I do?” Taehyung asked, completely at a loss of what to do.

He just wanted to run to Jungkook and tell him he loved him! But he trusted Hobi, and if he said he should court Jungkook, he would.

It sounded like the most romantic thing to do. And out of the both of them, Hobi definitely had the most romantic experience.

“Well, court-“ Hobi was just about to give him his tips about courting when a barista suddenly yelled out his name, sounding absolutely terrified.

They both looked at the new, purple haired barista who was staring at them with a face covered in what appeared to be lavender cream cold foam as a blender in the back messily dispersed an ice blended drink all over the counter.

“Hobi! Help…please!” She cried out.

Hobi started running towards the kitchen area where the drinks were made. “Just—show him you like him! You can do it through actions, by making him something, giving him gifts…it can be anything!”

Once Hobi got to the kitchen, he let out a squeaky yelp. The mess was insane!

“Taehyung- call me later! I wanna help you! Okay?” And like that, Hobi was gone, helping out the poor new barista who was probably lost under a pool of lavender cream cold foam by now.

Since Hobi was busy, and Taehyung was eager to “court” Jungkook to show him that he loved him, he decided to ask the person he trusted the most. Even more than Hobi…and he was his best friend.

This person most likely had the most experience and information- having been courted by and now mated to the same Alpha.

He decided he would pay a visit to Jin, his older Omega brother.

🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌

Attempt Number 1: Monday - Send Him Flowers 🌻

Taehyung had absolutely no experience with relationships, but his older brother Jin sure did. Jin was an Omega and was now happily mated to Namjoon, a kind and intelligent Alpha who was a college literature professor but who looked more like a body builder who could snap you in half.

He went over to their house, located about 40 minutes away in the suburbs, determined to find good courting ideas.

They were pleasantly surprised to see him, and once he sat down, he told them all about the happy and silly Omega he had fallen for. He told them about the conversation with Hobi, and how he had helped him realize that he was in fact not dying, but simply in love. He told them about Hobi confirming that Jungkook liked him back. And he told them how he wanted to court Jungkook, but that he had no idea what to do! Jin smiled, holding back tears— he was so happy that his younger brother had found someone to love and that loved him back!

This Jungkook guy seemed like a sweet and down to earth Omega, so Jin recommend something Namjoon had done for him when he had courted him (and which he still did).

He recommended that he send him flowers.

Taehyung thought about it, and decided it was a great idea! Jungkook loved Van Gogh’s Sunflowers, always wanting to view the exhibition when they went to the museum. He even had a large print of it framed on his office— as well as black bracelet with a sunflower charm!

Sending him sunflowers would be a great courting gift!

Namjoon gave his own recommendation, and he kept it mind as the next courting gift.

The next morning, Monday, he went to a flower shop near his apartment, Chimmy’s Flowers. He asked the nice, pink haired Omega to send the freshest and most beautiful bouquet of sunflowers to Jungkook’s office. On the card, he simply wrote out, “To Jungkook, someone who always brightens up my day. I hope these flowers brighten up yours. From, Taehyung”

He thanked Jimin, the florist, and headed out. He then walked to the music academy to start his lessons for the day and eagerly waited for Jungkook to text him.

A few hours later, Jungkook did in fact contact him. He video called him just as he had finished his last guitar class for the day.

But instead of a happy, rosy cheeked Jungkook, a puffy eyed and sneezing Jungkook greeted him on the screen.

“J-Jungkook, are you okay? What happened?” Taehyung asked, extremely concerned. Was Jungkook sick?

“Someone - achoo! - sent me -achoo!- sunflowers to -achoo!- work, and I’m super -achoo!- allergic!” Jungkook couldn’t even get a simple sentence out without sneezing a ton!

“You’re- you’re allergic to sunflowers?” Taehyung gulped.

Oh no.

Oh no, oh no, oh no.

“Yah- I’m -achoo!- super allergic! To -achoo!- all flowers actually. And -achoo!- strong perfumes.” Taehyung saw as Jungkook reached for brand new box of tissues as he threw the now empty one behind him.

“Jungkook- I’m so sorry! I-“

“It’s not -achoo!- your fault, Tae! There’s an -achoo!- Alpha in set design -achoo!- that won’t take the -achoo!- hint that I’m not -achoo!- interested…It was probably -achoo!- him.” Jungkook rolled his eyes, annoyed at the Alpha from set design who he believed had sent them.

Taehyung was so confused. “Wait- you didn’t get a note?”

“I don’t -achoo!- think so? Someone -achoo!- placed them on my desk -achoo!- while I was away -achoo!- so maybe it’s somewhere on my desk -achoo!- but I didn’t see anything -achoo!-“

“But you love sunflowers, no? Van Gogh? And that pretty behind the scenes photo of you on set holding a sunflower bouquet?” How had Taehyung not known the Omega he loved was allergic to sunflowers?

As he was mentally beating himself up, Jungkook looked at him through the screen, endeared.

“I do like them, -achoo!- but that’s why I have a print and a bracelet since I -achoo!- can’t actually have them near me. And the -achoo!- flowers I was holding were fake. I can’t believe -achoo!- you remember that.” Despite the runny nose, constant sneezing (that was his fault), and teary eyes, Jungkook was still the most beautiful person he had ever seen.

Taehyung was about to tell him, once again, that he was sorry and that it was his fault, but Jungkook cut him off.

“I took some pills for my allergies as soon -achoo!- as I got home, and I’m starting to get sleepy but I -achoo!- just wanted to say goodnight and -achoo!- sweet dreams, Tae.”

Taehyung stared at the love of his life through the screen and said good night back, smacking the front of his head as soon as the video call ended.

How had he not known that Jungkook was allergic to flowers! He was a sneezing mess all because of him!

He felt so embarrassed, and guilty.

But he also felt something new— jealousy.

Jungkook had assumed it was another Alpha who had sent him the flowers. There were other Alphas wanting to court Jungkook! That deeply upset him, but instead of letting it get him down, it lit a fire in him.

He was not going to give up!

Flowers hadn’t worked, but he had another courting gift idea, all thanks to Namjoon.

Attempt Number 2: Tuesday - Make His Favorite Food 🍜

When Taehyung had gone to his brother’s place seeking advice, Namjoon had recommended making Jungkook’s favorite food.

“Well, you know I’m a sucker for Jinnie’s cooking. I already knew he was the Omega I wanted to spend the rest of my life with, but he locked me down even FASTER with his culinary creations. You know what they say— the way to a mate’s heart is through their stomach.”

Taehyung knew the perfect dish to make for Jungkook— makguksu. It was his absolute favorite!

He texted Jin for the best makguksu recipe he knew, and once he sent it over, he locked up the music academy and headed to the store. He was determined to make the dish that night and drop it off tomorrow morning at Jungkook’s place.

Once he had all the ingredients, he headed home, eager to cook for Jungkook. He wasn’t an amazing cook -that was Jin’s expertise as a chef, after all- but he was good. And he was doing it with love! So he trusted it would turn out great!

He made the noodles to Jin’s specifications, even going ahead and sending him a picture to make sure it looked absolutely perfect. It looked similar to the one Jungkook had made for dinner on various occasions, but it wasn’t as tasty. He would never tell Jin, but he definitely preferred Jungkook’s secret recipe.

Once the noodles had cooled down a bit, Taehyung placed it into a glass container. He then wrote a note and taped it on top of the lid.

“Makguksu- your favorite. Just like you’re my favorite, Koo. Have a good lunch. - Tae”

He then placed the dish, some freshly cut strawberries in a container, and a cup of Hobi’s strawberry lemonade in a red lunch bag he kept around.

His second courting gift was all set! He would drop it off early tomorrow morning at Jungkook’s place. There was no way this plan would backfire.

The next morning, Taehyung woke up bright and early. He texted Jungkook to make sure he was awake, knowing he got up around that time to go on a quick run and then the gym. After a few minutes, he still hadn’t replied, but he still walked over. The doorman recognized him and let him in, and once he got to his unit he decided to call him.

No answer.

He tried once more…but nothing.

He figured that he might have taken a day off of working out due to the “Sunflower Incident”, so he placed the lunch bag right next to the (fake) banana leaf potted plant he had by his door. The red lunch bag was clearly visible and Taehyung knew he would definitely see it when he opened his door.

Feeling that it was a foolproof plan, he headed over to Hobi’s coffee shop to grab a drink before running some errands and heading to work.

Jungkook texted him around 11 am, having barely woken up. He then video called him and told him how the allergy medicine from the night before had knocked him out, and that his company had thankfully already expected him to take a sick day, so he wasn’t in any trouble. A few minutes later, he mentioned how he was starving. Before Taehyung could mention the lunch he had prepared him, the doorbell suddenly rang over and over again, and Jungkook left to see who it was. Taehyung figured that he would have to see the lunch bag with the thought out meal inside once he opened the door.

This was it, thought Taehyung. Jungkook would see his courting gift and then Taehyung would confess!

But instead, a worried Jungkook came running back, saying that his neighbor, an Omega named Yoongi, hadn’t noticed that his dog got out and it had eaten someone on the floors lunch delivery. His neighbors car was in the shop and he needed to rush his dog, Holly, to the vet as soon as possible in case what she ate was toxic! Jungkook apologized and wished him a good day, telling him he’d call him back once he was back from the vet.

He then hung up and Taehyung was left with his mouth wide open…like a fish.

Taehyung couldn’t believe his luck.

It seemed gift number 3 would have to be bulletproof…or at least dog proof.

Attempt Number 3: Wednesday - Bake His Favorite Dessert 🍪

Since the flowers and makguksu hadn’t worked out, Taehyung decided to call up Hobi for help with another courting gift idea. And Hobi was eager to help out!

“Why don’t you try baking his favorite dessert? I know Jungkook loves strawberries -you included- but you know that boy has a huge sweet tooth for chocolate chip cookies!”

Hobi was right- Jungkook loved chocolate chip cookies! And this time, he would make sure they got to him…no matter what.

Hobi had offered to help him bake the cookies, but Taehyung had politely declined. He wanted to make them himself, as an act of service…and love.

He had baked cookies with Jin various times growing up, so he truly believed he could do it himself!

Hobi did help him by dropping off the ingredients since he had all of them (and a ton!) at the coffee shop. Once he was done with his last student of the day, he rushed home, ready to bake for the love of his life.

Once again, he followed the instructions to the tee. He did get a little distracted at one point when Jungkook sent him a cute selfie saying he missed him, and he wasn’t completely sure if he forgot to add the sugar or if he had added salt twice, but he was definitely going to taste the cookies before he packed them up— just in case!

Once both batches of cookies (13 in total!) were done, he placed them to cool on the counter. An hour later, he took a bite out of one of the cookies and it tasted delicious! He took out a little brown tin, some parchment paper, and some twine. He then lined the tin with the parchment paper, placed all 12 cookies inside, wrapped the tin up with twine, and taped a note on top.

“To: Koo

These cookies are for your sweet tooth. But you are the sweetest thing in my life .

From: Tae ”

He placed the tin next to his work bag so that he wouldn’t forget it, and headed to sleep.

Taehyung woke up exited for the day. He had it all planned out- He would surprise Jungkook at work with the cookies during lunch and he would finally know how Taehyung felt about him!

He got through his morning classes and once lunch time hit, he texted Jungkook and asked him if he could pass by real quick. Jungkook happily said yes and that he’d been dying to introduce him to his coworkers!

Once at the building, he went up to 7th floor where the cinematography and editing team worked. A friendly Alpha named Mingyu led him to Jungkook’s desk, but he wasn’t there. Mingyu looked at his phone and saw that he had been pulled into an urgent meeting, but he told Taehyung that he was welcome to wait in Jungkook’s office while he came came back.

Taehyung sat down on one of the chairs in Jungkook’s office and simply looked around the room, not wanting to pry or move anything. The Omega he loved was a little bit messy, so there were papers scattered all over his desk. But the walls of his office were much more organized, each wall decorated differently. On one wall, there were stills of music videos he had worked on, along with awards he had received. On another wall, there was the Van Gogh Sunflower print and other prints of his favorite art pieces. A third wall had a picture frame of Jungkook with his parents when he was a child and his degrees.

One of the walls, the one you saw right as you walked in, was a little more bare. It had a thin table running alongside it.

He noticed a strawberry scented candle and a pink crocheted bunny. Taehyung looked at it, knowing it seemed familiar. He then recalled the day he had bought it for Jungkook at an arts and crafts fair.

Above the table, there was a cork board. And what Taehyung saw made him jump with joy. Because on it were ticket stubs from a movie they had watched a while back, tickets from the museums they gone too, and a handful of photos of them from the past two months where they were either smiling or laughing.

Taehyung was everywhere on that board. On that wall.

He felt so silly for not realizing that Jungkook liked him. But he himself hadn’t even known until Hobi had told him!

He finally looked away from the wall once his phone vibrated. It was a text from Jungkook letting him know that he had been pulled into an emergency meeting since someone had deleted some important footage and that he was stuck for at least another hour.

Taehyung texted back to not worry and that they could have lunch, or dinner, another day.

He then placed the cookie tin on Jungkook’s desk, and left to go back to work.

Taehyung, as usual, waited for Jungkook’s call or video call after work. Like clockwork, he called him at 5:30 and he let Jungkook vent about the problem that had taken all day to solve.

He nervously waited to see if he brought up the cookies…and he sure did.

He mentioned how someone, no one knew who, had brought a tin of chocolate chip cookies to the office lounge but that it seemed that whoever had made them had added double the amount of salt and half the amount of sugar.

Jungkook had tasted one but had been met with a pure bite of salt. A coworker saw him choking and had given him a water bottle, promptly throwing the cookies in the trash and placing the tin in the kitchen.

Taehyung’s left eye twitched as he recalled being worried about messing up the sugar and salt.

And once again, Jungkook hadn’t seen his gift…or his note!

Taehyung was the first to say good night that Wednesday, and he may or may not have vowed to never make chocolate chip cookies again…

Attempt Number 4: Thursday - Umbrella to the Rescue ☂️

Since it seemed that food was definitely out of the question, and so was sending or dropping things off at Jungkook’s work, Tae decided to give Jungkook a courting gift through an action the next day.

It had suddenly started raining that Thursday afternoon, despite the weather man, Yoongi, saying it would be sunny skies all week long.

Taehyung had a parent cancel their child’s saxophone lesson at the last minute due to the sudden change in weather, and he recalled how Jungkook had texted him saying he would be on location nearby that day. He assumed that like him and countless others, Jungkook had not been dressed or prepared for the rain.

So he grabbed the spare black umbrella and the spare rain jacket he kept in the supply closet for the rainy months, and headed out to find the banana scented, love of his life.

Jungkook had said that he would be filming at a bookstore a few blocks away. It was only a 10 minute walk, so Taehyung went on his way, despite the rain getting heavier and the wind suddenly picking up.

On the way over, Taehyung decided he would just go ahead and tell Jungkook the truth- that he was in love with him and had been trying to court him through giving him flowers (which he ended up being allergic to), making him makguksu (which his neighbor’s dog had most likely eaten), and through chocolate chip cookies (that had been moved and then thrown away…along with tasting horrible).

Once he turned a corner, he could see Jungkook’s team and all their equipment. And a little farther away he saw Jungkook, giving directions while covering his head with a binder.

Taehyung hastened his steps, eager to get to Jungkook and shelter him from the rain.

But he suddenly lost his footing and fell on his knees into a huge muddy puddle, covering himself in mud from head to toe. Then, as if the weather was completely against him, the wind picked up even more, causing the umbrella to fly away from his hands. He looked at the sky, seeing the umbrella get farther and farther away, and then looked down at his clothes that were completely drenched from the rain and the mud.

He saw Jungkook rush his team inside the bookstore, so he got up and walked away, all pouty and dirty, and back to the music academy.

Attempt Number 5: Friday - Sing Him A Song 🎤

Taehyung loved Jungkook, he was sure of it.

Sure, it had taken Hobi’s help for him to realize what his feelings were, but there was no doubt about it that Taehyung wanted nothing more than to make Jungkook happy for as long as he lived.

He lay in bed that Thursday night, after having washed off all the mud, thinking hard about what the perfect courting gift for Jungkook could be.

He had already tried buying and sending flowers, making his favorite dish and dessert, and coming to the rescue on a rainy day…all of which had completely failed.

Not being able to sleep as the failed attempts played over and over in his head, he got his guitar and started playing, hoping it would liven his mood.

He strummed the guitar as he thought about Jungkook and all the things he wanted to tell him.

Soon, he found strumming a new melody and singing.

A new melody and song made specifically just for Jungkook.

Suddenly, he had a revelation.

He loved Jungkook.

And he loved playing his guitar, writing songs, and playing them for whoever would listen.

This song could be his courting gift to Jungkook!

It was something he made, something just for him, something from the heart…it would be perfect!

And there was no way of messing this one up!

He texted Hobi, asking if he could possibly use the cafe tomorrow night, Friday, to give Jungkook his courting gift. Hobi texted back that of course he could and that he was so excited that it was finally happening!

Taehyung would sing a song to Jungkook, a song written just for him, at the place where they first met.

He then texted Jungkook, knowing he was most likely still awake, and asked if they could meet up at Hobi’s coffee shop tomorrow evening at 7:00 for dinner.

He instantly replied saying yes, and that after the work week he had, all he wanted to do was spend time with him.

Taehyung smiled, clutching his phone to chest, as he fell asleep.

🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌

Taehyung woke up that Friday elated, and determined. Today was finally the day.

He would finally be giving Jungkook a courting gift, in person, and confessing his love to him.

He was so happy to have Jungkook, and he also felt so lucky to have have Hobi and Jin and Namjoon.

Hobi had said he would decorate the coffee shop with twinkle lights, as well as setting up a table for them with fake sunflowers in the middle and a pitcher of strawberry lemonade and some banana nut muffins.

Jin had wanted to help too and he had them makguksu, while Namjoon baked some chocolate chip cookies.

Taehyung had his outfit planned out and his guitar tuned and ready to go.

He had confirmed with Jungkook that they would meet at Hobi’s coffee shop at 7:00.

Finally, everything (with a little help from his friends) was going according to plan.

🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌

It was 6:50 and Taehyung was pacing around the empty coffee shop.

As he looked outside, he could see that it was starting to drizzle, but despite the rain, it was still a perfect evening.

Hobi had set everything up nicely and Jin and Namjoon had dropped off the food and plated it a few minutes ago.

Jungkook hadn’t answered his text from a few minutes ago, but there were still 10 minutes left.

He knew how hard he worked— it was something he deeply admired about the Omega he loved.

But still…he couldn’t help but wonder…was it possible that Jungkook wouldn’t show up to dinner?

🌧️ 🌧️ 🌧️ 🌧️ 🌧️ 🌧️ 🌧️

It was 8:07.

The sun had set and it had been pouring outside for the past hour or so. The skies were gray and cloudy.

Just like Taehyung’s heart….

Because he found himself alone. With a cold meal in an empty coffee shop.

Hobi had retreated to his office in the back, and Jin and Namjoon had gone to their car, the three of them not wanting to leave Taehyung alone, but still wanting to give him privacy.

Taehyung stared at his phone, watching the seconds and the minutes pass by.

Jungkook hadn’t showed up and as much as it hurt…Taehyung thought that maybe it was a sign from the universe that they didn’t belong together…afterall, none of his courting gifts had gone according to plan…so maybe it was for a reason…

What else could explain the way all of his plans had failed and Jungkook not showing up?

Before giving up and going home, he decided to play Jungkook’s song, even if he never get to play it for him in person.

🎵

I can only see you

You are all I can see

It’s not fair, not fair except when it comes to you

Now I can’t go a single day without you please

Hold me tight, hug me close

Can you trust me? Can you trust me? Can you trust me?

Pull me in tight

🎵

He finished the song, tears in his eyes, ready to go home and cry into his pillow.

Yes, he loved Jungkook and he liked him back…but maybe they just weren’t meant to be together as more than friends?

🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌

Taehyung arrived home, guitar in its bag and hanging from his shoulder, once again drenched from the rain.

He felt sick and couldn’t stop sneezing, most likely due to walking all the way home that night in the rain (as well as from the rainstorm he had found himself in yesterday), but despite the heartbreak he was feeling, he forced himself to take a warm shower. He then changed into his coziest pajamas and covered himself in his warmest blanket. Ready to tune out the world as he sobbed into his pillow.

Jungkook hadn’t shown up.

He hadn’t answered any of his texts or calls.

He had most likely figured out that Taehyung was in love with him and Jungkook had probably changed his mind, realizing that Taehyung wasn’t worthy to be his Alpha.

The thoughts killed him, so he found himself crying nonstop, feeling completely hopeless.

He loved Jungkook, but he would make himself get over it so that they could still stay friends. That is if Jungkook still wanted to.

Taehyung was crying, drifting to sleep, when someone started knocking at his door. With a nose as red as Rudolph’s, he got up to answer it. All he wanted to do was cry and sleep in peace, so he would tell whoever was at the door to leave him alone.

He opened the door, damp blonde hair sticking to his forehead, and bags under his eye, and what he saw was Jungkook, completely wet from the rain. He was out of breath, as if though he had ran -no, sprinted!- all the way there. He was hunched over, trying to catch his breath, as Taehyung looked at him.

He had a plastic bag with what seemed like food in one hand and a gallon sized plastic bag with notes in the other.

Notes that looked quite familiar…

He knows.

Of course he knows! That’s why he didn’t show-

“Alpha Taehyung Kim— I, Omega Jungkook Jeon, am in love with you. I’ve been in love with you since the moment we met. It was literally love at first sight. At first sniff. And at first touch. Will you-,” Jungkook stopped for a second to catch his breath. “Will you do me the honor of letting me be your Omega?”

Taehyung looked on, dumbfounded.

“And before you say no, please don’t say no. I brought you a courting gift— chicken noodle soup, your favorite. So please, please don’t say no.” Jungkook looked up at him with those big boba eyes, fear written all over his face.

Taehyung knew that look, because it’s the one he was wearing.

Fear that he had lost his chance to be with Jungkook.

So, with a courage that was always inspired by Jungkook, Taehyung took Jungkook’s rain covered face into his hands. “Only if you allow be the honor of being your Alpha.”

Jungkook furiously nodded his head “yes” as Taehyung brought their lips together in the most delicate kiss.

As soon as their lips touched, it was as if sparks were flying! It felt like a piece of Taehyung that had always been missing had come back to him.

He pulled back and saw as Jungkook touched his lips.

“I……Tae…” Jungkook smiled, unable to contain his joy. “Since that first time we touched hands, I had a feeling…”

Taehyung looked at, him confused. A feeling about what, he thought to himself

“Taehyung…I believe we’re meant to be together. I think we’re fated mates.”

🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌

Taehyung couldn’t believe what he had just heard.

Him and Jungkook were fated to be together?

How could that be? Fated mates existed? The universe had shown him plenty of times that past week through all of his failed courting attempts that it didn’t want them together.

“But…how?”

Taehyung grabbed Jungkook’s tattooed hand and brought him inside his apartment.

“It was love at first sight when I saw you, Tae. When I accidentally took your drink and saw you, I thought you were the cutest Alpha I had ever seen. You were so gentle, and soft spoken. And then when I smelled your strawberry scent- I was a goner. But once we touched hands, and we felt that spark…I just had a feeling. Like I couldn’t let you go.” Jungkook looked down at their hands that were still intertwined. He then lifted them up and placed a kiss on Taehyung’s hand. “And now I know why. Because we’re meant to be together.”

Taehyung thought back to the first day they met- he thought Jungkook was the most beautiful and best smelling person he’d ever encountered. And he recalled the electrical zap feeling he’d felt when they shook hands.

They had been fated to meet? To be together?

This whole week, Taehyung had started to believe the universe was working against him, but it had really been helping him out since that first day they met.

“I- I’m sorry, Jungkook.” Taehyung could feel tears start to pool in his eyes, brought on by the guilt he felt.

“What- why are you sorry?”

“It took me so long to realize what I felt towards you was love.” Taehyung pouted, looking down. “Hobi hyung helped me realize what I felt was love, since I had never felt anything like that before. And- and he may have mentioned you liked me back when I realized. I- I was also starting to believe that maybe we weren’t meant to be, since all my courting attempts kept failing.”

Jungkook lifted up his chin, a soft and sincere smile on his lips. “Tae, I love you. And would have waited forever for you to realize your feelings about me. But I- I do have a confession to make. I maybe have told Hobi hyung how I felt about you in the hopes that he’d tell you one day- since I know he’s your best friend….and he has a hard time keeping a secret.” Jungkook giggled, as did Taehyung, because they loved Hobi but they also knew he was not the best at keeping secrets.

“And I understand why you may have started to give up hope and believe those mean thoughts in your head. I’m sorry things didn’t go how you wanted…but things worked out in the end…see?”

Taehyung brushed his hand along Jungkook’s cheek. It was so soft, he couldn’t help but kiss it. “I’m just glad that I was finally able to tell you I love you. I’ve been dying to tell you since I found out.”

Jungkook then let go of his hand to be able to show him the gallon sized bag with notes in it. “Actually…you already did.”

“How did you- the notes? You found them?” Taehyung had thought the three notes he had written with the sunflowers, the makguksu, and cookies were gone forever…but they were right there in front of his eyes!

“Okay- I might be a little messy...” Taehyung lifted a brow.

“I was at work today, looking for a sketch I had made a while back and imagine my surprise when I saw a note with a florist logo, addressed from you to me.”

Taehyung turned red, remembering the words he had written.

“I was endeared- completely over the moon and ready to run into your arms. But I had a shoot that I couldn’t miss. And I didn’t want to send my love confession to you in a text, so I thought it would be okay to wait until dinner.”

“Then, on the way out of the office to the shoot, I heard that annoying Alpha Mingyu who’s been hitting on me telling a coworker about a blonde haired Alpha who had come visit to me. He was bragging about ruining his courting gift and keeping the note in his desk drawer.”

Jungkook’s face twisted into what resembled a snarl, clearly mad at what that Alpha had done

“I wanted to beat him up sooo bad Tae…and I was ready to. But instead, I went to his desk and took the note. He’s a lazy worker, and hell probably get fired soon anyway. But when I retrieved the note and saw what you wrote, I almost melted.” Taehyung blushed, and Jungkook got on his tippy toes and placed a kiss on Tae’s nose.

“So, I finally went to the shoot- we were fiming at the train station today- and my coworker Soobin was looking through some film on a camera that had accidentally kept rolling yesterday when the rainstorm hit.”

“The camera had been angled forward, towards the street leading to the bookstore, and Soobin called me over to show me something. He recognized your blonde hair from the pictures I have of you in my office,”

Jungkook blushed at the confession, but Taehyung smiled and kissed his forehead in return, reassuring him it was nothing to be embarrassed about. “And what I saw broke my heart,Tae. I saw you in a black rain jacket walking with an umbrella through that horrid rainstorm. You were coming to give it to me…weren’t you?”

Taehyung nodded, still embarrassed of his failed courting attempts…particularly that one.

“Once I saw that, I had the hardest time concentrating. I was constantly thinking of you and how to confess to you. I had found out that you had been trying to tell me you loved me in so many ways for the past week, I felt like nothing I said or did would be good enough for you.”

“I was so distracted that I didn’t even notice when my neighbor, Yoongi, called me. I called him back and he said he wanted to apologize because he saw his front door camera footage and he found out that his dog had eaten food that was left outside of my door. He said a tall, blonde man with a flannel and tote bag had left it at my doorstop.”

“I figured it was you, because who else would be so thoughtful to leave me lunch.” Jungkook stared at Taehyung lovingly, while the latter rubbed circles on his cheek.

“Yoongi told me it had seemed like a note had slipped out of the lunch bag and gottenstuck underneath my fake plant. So when I finally got home to get ready for our date, I looked under the plant and saw the note. I was already running a bit late because of that dang shoot, but I hurried inside to get ready for our date! I placed all the notes in this bag, wanting to show you that I had gotten them. But I was in such a rush that I forgot to charge my phone, that was already dead, once I got home! And I was so eager to see you that l even completely forgot about my phone! Then, my car wouldn’t start so I decided to take a cab! But then the rain started and traffic was horrible. I mean, completely stopped. I didn’t want to look a mess so I waited a while to see if it cleared up, but once I felt like too much time had passed, I got out- choosing to walk or run all the way to Hobi’s coffee shop. And I swear I ran as fast as I could! But by the time I got there Hobi was leaving! He looked so upset at me but I told him all about the troubles I had getting there.” Jungkook was out of breath, so Taehyung walked to the kitchen and brought back a glass of water, which he gulped down instantly.”

“Hobi told me all about how you were planning on singing a song as a courting gift and to tell me you loved me. He told me about helping set up the shop with twinkle lights and fake sunflowers while we ate makguksu and cookies your brother and his husband had helped make! He told me you left broken hearted because I hadn’t shown up and because nothing had gone according to plan, and how you had decided to walk all the way back to your place in the rain.” Tears started pouring out of Jungkook, and soon he was sobbing. Taehyung reached out to him and held him in his arms.

“In that moment I decided to run you. Because I couldn’t stand another minute of you thinking I didn’t love you or I had rejected you- or knowing you, thinking the universe was against us and that we didn’t belong together!” Taehyung embraced him even tighter— Jungkook knew him so well.

“I ran past your favorite restaurant on the way here, so I got your favorite soup, deciding I could also show you how much I loved and cared about you with a courting gift of my own.” Jungkook then lifted his other hand that had been holding the soup container this entire time. “I know it’s not much, but I’m pretty sure that red Rudolph looking nose isn’t only from crying. I was worried you’d catch a cold from walking in the rain the past two days.”

Taehyung loved Jungkook’s sense of humor, and he couldn’t help but laugh.

“Tae- maybe your courting gifts didn’t go according to pain, but they did get to me- one way or another. And I loved all of them. I want nothing more than for you to be my alpha and to be your omega.”

Taehyung still couldn’t believe it.

He loved Jungkook.

Jungkook loved him.

He wanted to be his Alpha and Jungkook wanted to be his Omega.

“And I want nothing more than to be your Alpha and for you to be my Omega.” Taehyung locked their lips, kissing until they practically ran out of air.

Taehyung pulled back so that they could catch their breath and then looked down at Jungkook who was still dripping wet- and who would definitely get sick if he stayed in those clothes!

“Come on, let’s get you out of those clothes, ok-“ Taehyung stopped once he realized what he had just said.

And what it sounded like he was insinuating!

The sudden smell of sweet, freshly made banana bread practically enveloped the entire apartment.

Jungkook stared at him with big boba eyes, rosy cheeks, and red ears.

“I meant so you don’t get sick, too! You can get in the shower and I’ll leave some fresh clothes out for you!” Taehyung managed to blurt out. He didn’t want Jungkook to think the wrong thing!

Jungkook giggled and let out a big sigh. “I know, Tae” He then placed a kiss on Taehyung’s lips, a kiss that felt more rough and passionate than the ones they had just shared. It was different...but it felt good. Really good.

“But...I also wouldn’t mind taking my clothes off for you, or taking yours off either, later on. We'd be drenched...but not because of the rain...”

And with that Jungkook giggled and made his way to his bathroom, leaving Taehyung flabbergasted…and feeling another entirely new feeling he had never felt before.

🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌 🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌

“Hey, Tae…” Jungkook whispered against Taehyung’s neck.

Jungkook was fresh out of the shower, wearing Taehyung’s clothes, and they were cuddled together on the couch, keeping warm underneath a fuzzy blanket as the rain continued falling down outside.

“Yah, Koo?”

“Would- would you sing the song you wrote for me...please?”

Taehyung placed a soft kiss atop Jungkook’s forehead. “Of course, my love. I'll do anything for you.”

Jungkook wrapped his arms around Taehyung’s waist and nuzzled his neck, inhaling the sweet, calming strawberry scent.

Taehyung took a deep breath and began singing.

🎵

I can only see you

You are all I can see

It’s not fair, not fair except when it comes to you

Now I can’t go a single day without you please

Hold me tight, hug me close

Can you trust me? Can you trust me? Can you trust me?

Pull me in tight

🎵

Taehyung could feel Jungkook crying against his chest. “It’s beautiful, Tae. Thank you so much. For the song, for all of your courting gifts…..and for loving me. I love you so much.”

Taehyung peered into Jungkook’s eyes. He knew he wasn’t the “perfect” Alpha according to society and yah, he wasn’t the most confident either.

But he was 100% confident about one thing— he loved Jungkook with his whole heart, mind, body and soul. And Jungkook loved him back, because all that mattered was that they were perfect for each other.

“I love you, Jungkook. I will love you for the rest of my life, and beyond.” He placed one more kiss on Jungkook’s forehead and they both closed their eyes, both feeling happy and peaceful in each others arms. They were both drifting off to sleep when Taehyung suddenly felt like he had forgotten something, like that he hadn't properly responded.

“Oh! And thank you for loving me too, Jungkook.”

🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌 The End 🍓🍌🍓🍌🍓🍌
