Sara / Sonya
Over the years, despite the age gap, Sara and Lacy had gotten quite close. After Lacy reached a certain age, the sitter started asking too many questions. Amber let her go, and Lacy started hanging out with Sara and her friends after school, weekends, holidays, and summer breaks. The one good thing about the sitter Lacy had was that she was a retired musician. She gave Lacy piano, guitar, and vocal lessons during the years she cared for Lacy. Despite Lacy's age, she was musically gifted. She could play just about instrument and any type of music. Lacy's passion was the piano. She played the electric piano that she had been given religiously. Lacy's best friend, Amanda, was another girl who had a similar heart condition; they were both accomplished pianists. Lacy would go over to Amanda's house and sit in during Amanda's piano lessons and soak up any new knowledge the instructor gave. After Lacy came to live with them, Sara missed her birth family less and became content. As Lacy got older, Sara was sometimes struck with this feeling of familiarity she just didn't understand why. It was both her actions, gestures, and even her facial features seemed familiar; Sara simply didn't realize the reason why.

Meanwhile in Charming
Third person
Gemma stopped by the florist to pick up flowers and made sure she had the toy car and mini doll in her purse. Gemma was making her annual visit to the cemetery to visit the graves of the children she had lost. It would have been Thomas's 13th birthday, the loss of Thomas and most especially Sonya still bothered Gemma. Gemma never quite felt right about Sonya's disappearance and death. Gemma never felt the same sense of finality, of sureness at Sonya's grave that she felt at Thomas's grave. It had been that way since the funeral that was held. Gemma was convinced the reason she felt this way was that there were so many unknowns surrounding Sonya's disappearance and death. Gemma didn't talk about it very often. The few people she told were Valerie, Sandra, Caitlyn, Clay, Unser, and Luann. Gemma had talked with Valerie, Sandra, Caitlyn, and Luann shortly after the funeral, explaining her feelings on the matter. They agreed with Gemma's belief that Gemma felt that way because of the unknown. Sonya's abduction and murder were never solved. Clay and Gemma had a similar conversation in the days after Sonya's funeral. Clay agreed with Gemma's beliefs.
Another event that caused the club to lose another member to prison happened 6 to 7 years after Lucy was abducted. Opie was with Kyle Hobart doing a job for the club. Somehow, the police got wind of something happening and showed up. Kyle Hobart fled the scene, leaving Opie behind to be arrested. Kyle Hobart was kicked out of the club for abandoning Opie at the scene. Kyle tried to justify his actions by accusing Jax of the same with Otto. However, everyone knew the two incidents were different. Clay looked Kyle Hobart right in the eyes and stated, "when Jax and Otto split up, they both thought they had gotten away. Jax waited for Otto at the location they agreed on till after I called him to inform him Otto had been arrested. You abandoned Opie at the scene, knowing the cops were there and that he would be arrested." Kyle was excommunicated from the club; it was a unanimous decision.
Again, Judge Hale pushed the narrative of violence and criminal activities to attempt to get the presiding judge to dole out the maximum sentence.
Over the next few years, some things changed. First, shortly after Valerie's death and the rumors of a judge being responsible. Drew and Sandra decided that it was only a matter of time before something else happened. Drew transferred to the Tacoma charter, and the family moved away. Things with the club got a bit more dangerous. Clay used the rumor mill about the judge to get the club deeper into the gun business. A few of the club's children went away for college, mostly the girls.
Jax and Dawn, who had gotten together after the court ordered visitation with Lucy, were still living together. However, a couple of years into the relationship with Jax, Dawn realized that while she did care for Jax very much, her feelings were based on a friend relationship, not a romantic one. Dawn felt that while she would not change being with Jax, because she wouldn't have Tommy, she and Jax were better off as friends and co-parents of Tommy. Jax and Dawn split on good terms. In fact, they lived as roommates with their son sharing a 3-bedroom house for several years. Dawn had pursued her nursing degree, continuing to further her education until she was a nurse practitioner. Dawn often utilized her skills to help members who had gotten hurt. Dawn dated a few guys, but the relationships never lasted very long.
Over the years, Jax was determined to move up in the ranks of the club to reach a seat of more authority. With the goal of making the changes that his father had wanted to make. Whenever Jax needed inspiration for a new endeavor, felt himself slipping from his goal, or got discouraged. Due to the loss of two friends to long prison terms, he would reread the manuscript to anchor himself in his goal. Over the years, Jax had also served some time in prison. The time Jax served convinced him that getting the club into more legitimate streams of income was the way for the club to continue for Tommy, for all of the children. Jax wanted Tommy's generation of the club to not have to worry so much about the illegal side of the club. Jax hoped that by the time Tommy wanted to step into the club that most, if not all, the illegal activities would be gone. Jax also kept in contact with the agent assigned to Lucy's case, but there were never any solid leads.
Gemma continued to raise Robin and Jason, continued with the fundraisers and charity work, as well as running TM's office. Gemma tried to stay in touch with Sandra. After Drew and Sandra moved to Tacoma, but as time passed, they drifted apart. After Valerie's death, the closest friends Gemma had were Caitlyn, Luann, and Dawn.
