Work Header

I will follow, always.

Summary:

Vil Schoenheit perched elegantly on the high-backed velvet chair, his posture perfect, his composure immaculate. The golden light of sunset spilled across the room, catching his hair like molten silk and outlining the sharp lines of his face. Every gesture he made was measured, graceful, almost theatrical—but there was a softness now in his hands, resting lightly on Rook’s head.

Work Text:

Vil Schoenheit perched elegantly on the high-backed velvet chair, his posture perfect, his composure immaculate. The golden light of sunset spilled across the room, catching his hair like molten silk and outlining the sharp lines of his face. Every gesture he made was measured, graceful, almost theatrical—but there was a softness now in his hands, resting lightly on Rook’s head.

Rook Hunt knelt at his feet, the usual fire in his eyes dimmed to a gentle glow. His head rested against Vil’s lap, warm and heavy, trusting, as though all the chaos of his life had dissolved in this single, quiet moment. He closed his eyes, letting the masterful hand of Vil stroke through his hair, each movement deliberate, precise, soothing.

“You sit far too still for my taste,” Rook murmured, his voice a soft rasp, the usual teasing lilt absent. “But I like it… your calm unnerves me.”

Vil’s lips curved in a faint, practiced smile, his gaze lowering to meet the faint blush along Rook’s cheek. “And yet, Hunt, even you know how to behave when it serves a purpose. Such restraint… it becomes you far better than your usual dramatics.” His fingers kneaded gently at Rook’s scalp, careful not to disrupt the fragile peace that had settled between them.

Rook let out a low hum of contentment, the sound vibrating against Vil’s thigh. “I could stay like this forever,” he whispered. “If only to feel your hands…” His words trailed off, his usual bravado replaced by a raw sincerity. “They… they understand me in ways nothing else does.”

Vil’s hand paused, lingering a moment longer in the strands of Rook’s hair. A rare flicker of vulnerability touched his sharp features. “Do not speak as though I am a comfort merely to be sought. I expect devotion, not dependence.”

“I am yours,” Rook replied without hesitation. “All of me. The chaos, the pride… the hunting instincts, the reckless heart. It’s yours if you want it.”

Vil hummed, a sound somewhere between amusement and satisfaction. “So bold, yet so fragile beneath it all. You parade your strength like a banner, but kneeling here, I see the truth. You are… pliable. Moldable.”

Rook tilted his head, pressing closer. “Then mold me, Vil. Shape me. Make me… the one you desire.” His hand, which had been resting at his side, crept to grasp Vil’s wrist lightly, seeking a tether. “I will follow, always. I need only this… your guidance, your touch.”

Vil’s fingers slowed, combing through Rook’s hair with almost imperceptible tenderness. “You flatter yourself,” he said, his tone laced with amusement and something deeper, almost indulgent. “Yet perhaps… it is true. There is… a rhythm to your yielding, a poetry in your surrender.”

Rook let out a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding. “Then do not stop.”

Vil’s hand moved more deliberately now, tracing the line of Rook’s scalp, tugging gently, then releasing. “I should warn you, Hunt. Such indulgence can be dangerous. It is easy to grow reliant… to crave it endlessly. Can you handle that?”

Rook’s laugh was soft, low, and filled with a warmth that melted the last threads of tension. “I can. I will. There is no other place I would rather be than here… at your feet. No other guidance I would rather follow than yours.”

A silence fell, rich and heavy, filled only with the sound of Vil’s hand moving through Rook’s hair and the quiet, steady breaths of a man learning the pleasure of trust. Vil’s sharp gaze softened as he looked down at Rook, feeling the weight of his devotion, the intensity of the connection.

“You are a difficult one,” Vil said, voice low, almost a purr. “But perhaps… I like difficult.”

Rook hummed in response, nestling further into Vil’s lap, finally at peace in the perfection of the moment. “Then keep me,” he whispered, “keep me like this forever.”

Vil allowed himself a rare, unguarded smile, letting his fingers linger a moment longer. “Very well… for now. But remember, Hunt… I am not so easily owned. You must continue to prove yourself, even in your surrender.”

Rook grinned softly, eyes closed, completely content. “Then I shall, Vil. For you, always.”

And there, in the golden stillness of the room, with the world outside fading into twilight, they remained—one commanding, elegant, perfect; the other devoted, pliable, utterly surrendered. Neither moved, neither spoke, content to exist in the quiet power of each other’s presence, as the last light of day kissed their shared sanctuary.
