Chapter 1: Meet-cute

Chapter Text

Abby's POV

It was sunny the day I met her. I'd thrown on a hoodie at the last minute, having walked out of the apartment in a huff. It made me a little sticky, but I didn't mind much.

I'm not sure why I didn't think I'd be spotted taking a walk out in the open. It's not like I didn't know my face or build was recognizable to many, many people. It just hadn't crossed my mind. What was on my mind were the comments Romance and Baby just couldn't stop throwing.

Come on, man, you can't get one date?

Both of us have at least taken a few girls out.

Even JInu's got a relationship, and the only thing that guy's got going for him is his face.

Mystery doesn't even talk and he's doing better than you.

I wanted to think they were looking out for me, that it was just their way of asking what was going on. They just had a way of forgetting to be nice about it.

It's not like no one wanted me. Hell, I had over 50 million people begging for me at one point. But that point was when-

What the hell is wrong with me?

I could date whoever I wanted, those guys could fuck off. I was perfectly adjusted to human life, thank you very much. I could take out the next girl I see and she'd be drooling all over me.

That's what I'll do, then, take out the next girl I see-

And I felt a lurch in my stomach, before landing flat on my ass in the middle of the street.

A small mud puddle from the rain we got last night decided, at the last minute, to plant itself right under my feet.

I groaned. It hadn't really hurt anything but my pride, but I still lay there for a second, hands over my face.

"Excuse me? Are you okay?"

I dropped my hands, ready to push myself off the ground when an angel sent straight from heaven pushed me right back down. A girl was leaning over me, a damn vision wrapped in pastel pink, green, and denim.

I couldn't help myself. "Doing better now that you're here, babe."

She'd curled her lip at that, but I didn't care. She'd come around in just a minute.

"You wanna help me up? I might even let you touch this arm you've been staring at." I gave her a damn good winning smile.

"I was staring because it's bleeding," she snapped. She was so damn cute. Her eyes were gorgeous, her pouty lips so full. Her being angry was just icing on the cake.

"Fiesty, I like it," I adjusted my collar a bit, making sure her eyes followed my hand.

"No, moron, you're actually bleeding," she gestured toward my arm, looking even less happy. I could still work with that.

"Did you wanna kiss it better? All you have to do is ask, babe," that line was so good, I might be- whoever that guy who wrote the stories was.

"You know what? Never mind. Have a good day," she turned to walk away, taking out her phone.

Shit, come on, I know you want me.

I push myself up, carelessly wiping at my arm that was, in fact, bleeding.

"Come on baby, we can fix this-"

"OH MY GOD, IS THAT A SAJA BOY?" And the street erupted into screams.

Shit.

The girl was pushed back as the crowd swarmed us, popping in and out of my sight as gushing fans started yelling at me.

"Where have you been?"

"What happened after your performance with Huntr/X?"

"Are the Saja Boys coming back?"

"Will you release any new music?"

"Where's the others? Do you guys live together? Are you guys tog-"

"Tell Baby I want his babies!"

I couldn't help it, I had to stretch my arms above my head to give them something to scream about. The adoration, the attention. It was addicting, being wanted.

I scanned the crowd looking for the pretty girl again, but she had disappeared.

"OW- get OFF of me-" What was that?

I caught a glimpse of pink and green, urging me forward. She was on her ass, much like I had been.

"Well, well, look how the turn tables- the tables- um-" I couldn't remember the phrase, but I flashed her a winning smile, offering her an arm flexed just enough.

She looked very unimpressed, more focused on smoothing her now rumpled outfit than me. What was this girl's problem? She's got the hottest guy she could picture laid out on a silver platter, and she just seems annoyed.

I leaned closer, knowing damn well she could see the tiniest peek of my chest. It didn't even seem to phase her until I caught the slightest tinge of red on her ears.

Okay, it was something. She wasn't blind, at least. That's fine, I can play the long game, beautiful.

"Come on babe, let me help you up. Don't want anyone stepping on you."

It took her looking at everyone but me, I noticed, to finally take my hand and allow me to pull her up.

The crowd exploded again, clamoring to know who this girl was, why I called her babe, gushing about how much of a gentleman I was, and asking if this woman was carrying mine and Romance's baby.

The attention seemed to be a lot for my new companion, I noticed, as her hand started sweating and she started swiveling her head around to get a bearing on her surroundings. That, or she was just nervous around me, poor girl.

Yuna's (OC) POV:

Of course I recognized him. The guys face was plastered everywhere, how could I not? I was also under the impression that the Saja Boys were known as gentlemen, but this meathead clearly didn't fit that bill. He was shameless, throwing himself at me like I was the last fish in the pond and he was starving. I was flustered, of course, by the way he was a stanger pushing to be so close to me, and not by the fact that he was gorgeous.

A pretty face wasn't enough for me to throw my dignity to the curb. At least in public.

And then the bastard, after having the gall to flirt nonstop, pulls me into the middle of a swarm of his fans, holding my damn hand. Did he not get that because his dumb face was everywhere, mine would be too? I tried my best to cover my face with my hands, turning every way I could without revealing too much of myself. Everyone wants their little 5 seconds of fame, but this certainly was not how I wanted to get mine.

Then the bastard decided to put his arm around me. He threw a ridiculously large arm around me, crushing me against him. My face was now pressed against his chest, and now I was annoyed that the makeup I'd spent precious time on this morning was now being wiped on some asshole's hoodie.

Fuck, now my ass was going to get absolutely trashed online. I'd have to go into hiding, change careers, and move to avoid fans from stalking me. Embarrassed as I was, I kept my face buried in his chest to keep from facing the cameras.

The guy said something I couldn't really hear, and I felt his other ridiculously large arm meet my head before the noise snuffed out. Did the crowd leave? I tried turning my head, but his hand stayed firmly on the back of my neck.

My indignant "Hey!" was muffled, and he ignored me if he heard it. After the longest minute of my life, he finally let me go.

"You're welcome, pretty girl," He had some nerve.

"You got me into that situation," I snapped.

We were in a shady alleyway, concealed from the street. The crowd could still be heard some distance away, but we were both far away from prying eyes.

"Listen, babe-"

"Stop calling me that, I am not your babe or whatever."

"Listen, pretty girl, you should go out with me." He leaned over me, his arm barring my view of the street. "I know you like what you see, we could make it official-"

"What is your problem?" I demanded, "My life might be ruined, I may have to leave the country because of you, and-" I stopped, taking in the alleyway. "How did we get here?"

"Uh, I walked," he finally looked a little sheepish, something I found extremely satisfying.

"I didn't feel you walking anywhere-"

"You were just floored by my amazing physique, I get it-"

"No," I said coldly, "We were getting swarmed by the crowd in the middle of the street, and then we were here. How did you do that?"

I knew the Saja Boys had accomplished some pretty impossible stunts, even when they debuted, but all of that was fake, curated for performances. He was just alone, on a walk in the street, with no other members in sight.

He rubbed a hand over his face, muttering something. "Are you gonna let that go, maybe not tell anyone?"

"What are you talking about," I was panicking now, looking for a way out of this mess. Didn't he just do- whatever that was, in a crowd full of people?

"Yeah, no- Ah, shit, there goes my date-" he gives me his best puppy eyes. "Still down for dinner?"

"Wha-" and he slings me over his shoulder, disappearing down alleyways, reappearing in dark spots, darting around in a way that was making me nauseous.

Squirming and protesting was futile, his iron grip keeping me from going anywhere.

My stomach dropped as he made one final leap, landing softly on a balcony overlooking the city, leaving me dangling, able to see just how high up we were.

"How-"

He sets me down, his hands squeezing my waist. Wrapping an arm around my shoulders again, he slides open the glass door in front of us, leading me into an apartment I could only dream of affording.

The bedroom he leads me through is dark, and I almost trip over a dumbbell on the floor. He mutters something like an apology before leading me into a living area.

Sprawled across a couple of white couches are the short-lived legends themselves, staring at me like my mother had sold me and walked out the door. The Saja Boys, still dressed in neons and pastels, looking the exact same as when they'd disappeared months ago.

"Who's this?" the dark-haired one, Jinu, asks. He's the only one that looks slightly concerned about a stranger in their house, with everyone else looking disinterested, or in Romance's case, absolutely delighted and a little hungry.

Abby, if that was his real name, just hugged me closer and was all too happy to answer, "My girlfriend!"
