Visions

Summary:

'Right, he was back on earth. Blight's appartment in The Last City. Still felt waves of doubt in just saying that. Either he's truely lost it or these visions are now just the Nine trying to act some sort of joke on him. Either way, Lodi wasn't sure if he even wanted the answer to that.

>| This was honestly written to both expand on my own guardians lore post Edge Of Fate and to experiment with writing small things with/as the Nine

>| Not focused on romance but its sprinkled here and there if you squint hard enough at times, appologies for any typos in advance / cross posting from toyhouse aswell

Chapter Text

Disorientating. Like falling asleep with your eyes open. A pair of hands. Fingers calloused near the nailbeds. Cold. Boots echoed on a floor. It feels like riding shotgun in someone else's head, but yet you still see everything in a third perspective.

White coat. Hint of blue accents. An ID badge. Metal and antiseptic. An intercom. "Dr. Nowakowski, Sector four review is ready for oversight." Nowakowski. A name he did not recognise.

Unknown = False

A long white corridor. Walls linked with viewing panels, each tagged differently. Behind glass, exo frames sat in partial assembly. Some were headless, others just torsos. Each having a serial number and one worded notes etched underneath them. The door hissed open, chipped paint visable on the bottom from when they hadn't fully sealed in the past. The room inside now finally coming into full view. Two other techs were already inside and waiting anxiously stepping from one foot to another - they stood next to an Exo strapped into a reclined chair, cables running from the back of his metalic alloy head which ran into a terminal nearby which was binking the same few words on its screen. If cold had a smell, this would be it.

The Exo's optics flickered erratically, it's voice was laced with static as it had been yelling beforehand - yet still painfully human. "Please. I can still f-" "Reset it." The voice sounded familiar. Less modulated from what he's accustomed to hearing. A lack of softness in the figures tone, felt like a scalpel slicing something clean. One of the techs shifted uncomfortably, brow furrowing slightly upwards. The jacket collar now crumpled at the edges after being continously touched. "Sir, this one passed initial st-"

"-And clearly failed any long-term testing" Again,familiar. "Wipe it. Begin again." Tones much colder. Voice sounds just about the same yet still has an accent to it. The technician didn't say anything and turned to the terminal, typing away at it for a moment, fingers hesitating before anything was written down.

Fear. A deer in a snipers view.

The Exo's hand was now a fist and was tugging against its restraints, a smell of static in the air. The frame twitched a few times before a yell erupted from its vocal modulator mid sentence. It's head slumped forwards before the eyelights had finally faded and shut off. Now the room just smelt of overheated circuits. An idle thought. 'Such potential, a shame to waste it.'

This body, Nowakowski was it?, it didn't linger - not once, instead they brought out a datapad that was tucked underneath their arm and started logging a report. [Subject reset. Awaiting responce on initial request of disposal. Test unsuccessful] The data pad was turned off shortly after, a reflection of the user was visable finally. Human - Their eyes looked similar to Blight's , these were more green than his though,,they look colder. Blight would hate that comparison, why is he being shown this? did the past emissaries also have these types of visions? His mind felt like it was spinning, being thrown across times again. A boat at sea with a crew not on deck. Not entirely sure if he felt like he needed to vomit because this made him feel seasick or if its because of the Nines effects on him still. 'precious bosons' be damned.

Lodi woke up with a gasp, quickly sitting upright as best as he could, the blanket placed on him now falling off the edge and onto the floor. His eyes taking a few moments to adjust to the room, where was he again? For a while he just stared at the floor, palms pressed to his knees as he felt his heartbeat finally calming down - his stomach was still felt like it was about to jump out of his throat. Finally getting back his senses once he heard some noise in the other room - right, he was back on earth. Blight's appartment in The Last City. Still felt waves of doubt in just saying that. Either he's truely lost it or these visions are now just the Nine trying to act some sort of joke on him. Either way, Lodi wasn't sure if he even wanted the answer to that.
