What if Asahi wasn't a half-baked villain thrown in at the end? What if Noir was some kind of actually believable culinary group? What if Azami never got the redemption he never deserved? What if there wasn't any ridiculous super powers, and what if the Blue was actually a proper cooking contest?
I recently reread all of Shokugeki no Soma because I had forgotten how upset the ending made me. This time rather than ignoring it, I'm fixing it.In this version, Asahi was adopted by Joichiro and Tamako. He grew up as Soma's naturally talented older brother. He will be able to properly fulfil the role as Soma's counterpoint and foil which they had the opportunity for and instead smashed it. He is an antagonist however he is not a villain. He will serve as an apt reflection to Joichiro and Erina's past. He will help complete Soma's character arc without having Soma disappear out of nowhere. Also yes Azami will not be redeemed, not by the Nakiri family or by Asahi. Asahi will not be a Nakiri either. He and Erina are still technically half siblings, but the only sibling he cares about is his little brother Soma. (also no weird relationship between Asahi and Erina)
