Work Text:
Louis and his fiancé Harry were out driving, or, Harry was driving, Louis enjoyed his role as a passenger princess. Just this time.
They were passing field after field as the sun was setting outside, casting a golden light over the world. Making the hay balls wrapped in white plastic on the fields for some reason looking even more like giant marshmallows, as people usually called them.
It darkened quickly though and suddenly it was pitch dark outside. They stopped by the road, there was no way they could continue driving. How could they have miscalculated the time so badly?
“Haz, come! Let’s take a look at the giant marshmallows. They look edible!” Louis exclaimed and tugged Harry by the hand.
“Lou, they’re not. You know it’s just something people say,” Harry whined as Louis pulled him out on the field.
“But look. Don’t they look more like marshmallows than they usually do?” Louis insisted.
“I guess,” Harry said, slightly annoyed and tired. “Let’s get back to the car now.”
But Louis didn’t want to. He had never seen these hay balls up close. What was the harm?
He brought out his phone, turning on the flashlight to see better. At that moment the whole sky lit up with a bright, white light almost blinding them.
“Let’s get out!” Harry exclaimed, pulling Louis’ arm but he couldn’t move. He was staring at the giant spaceship up in the sky, casting the bright light all over the field, onto the giant marshmallows that now seemed to be moving.
Louis’ turned to the one nearest him. It wasn’t a hay ball. It wasn’t a giant marshmallow. It was a fucking giant alien egg, with tiny little aliens crawling inside of it, trying to break out.
“Lou, what is that?” Harry asked. His voice broke with the same panic Louis felt inside.
That’s when the eggs started cracking wide open. Louis fell to the ground when the tiny aliens jumped onto him. He tried to fight them off with one hand while trying to hold on to Harry with his other. But he lost the fight. Soon his entire body was covered with tiny creatures.
He screamed out loud as their teeth sunk into him.
That’s when he woke up, sitting up on the bed, patting himself down. Still trying to get the tiny, vicious aliens of his body.
“What are you doing?” Harry asked, sleepily.
“Batting away aliens,” Louis said, voice cracking by the panic he still felt inside.
Harry looked up at him, looked him over and then scooted closer.
“You’re alien free,” he mumbled, before pressing a kiss into Louis’ side. “Go back to sleep now, babe.”
