Chapter 1: Prologue
Chapter Text
“Time is like a snake…. That eats it’s self when sick. A snake that has no end to the suffering, but still moves onward. When I awoke from the fire, I could barely breath, it was like my whole body was drenched in the flames, but then…”
Jamie arose from the plane’s falling debris, his body floating almost stationary in the wind, like a leaf attached only by a single stem. His freckled, sun-kissed, skin was slightly chard from the fiery depths of the cabin, but immediately began to heal as fast has he blinked.
His brown-now discolored into amber, hair rustled in the wind as it whipped past his face, covering his whole body like a frigid comforter, his eyes widened in shock and slight confusion as they opened, glowing that same bright amber as his faded hair.
“My name is Jamie Stellar…How do I know that? The moon told me so…”
Jamie’s clothes were singed in some parts and completely fine in others; his shirt was scorched around the hem but otherwise fin and still usable as it was this morning, his shoes however, were completely gone; this realization was lost on Jamie as his body laid limply on the whispering wind.
Staring up at the moon’s bright silver glow, he slowly relaxed as he gazed upwards at it, his breathing became less erratic for the moment being.
“The moon, it made me feel…safe…secure…protected. He didn’t tell me anything apart from my name though.”
The wind set Jamie back onto the ground gently, his mind began to race as fear seeped into his thoughts once again. He started to remember. He was on a plane- Wait! The plane! The people! Oh god…
The boy’s hands shot up to his face, covering his mouth in shock as he watched the fire engulf the plane. Parts of metal fell from the roof and others melted wiring entirely.
He couldn’t move or speak; all those other kids he tried to protect didn’t make it and he could do nothing but watch as their final resting place went up in smoke.
Yelling was heard in the distance, Jamie turned around quickly and sighed in a short-lived relief, before yelling for their help.
“HELP! HELP! PLEASE SOMEONE,ANYONE” He screamed as they arrived. He sprinted over to the commotion as quickly as possible and stopped a foot in front of a tall man was coming towards him quickly.
“Oh thank goodness sir, we need help! The people, they’re still inside!”
The man seemingly not listening to the boy’s cries as he continued walking hurriedly, Jamie repeated.
“Hello?! Did you hear me?! Please sir you have to help! You have to-“
The man phased right through him as a wisp of blue gathered around their intersection. Jamie wheezed as he felt it; like a solid object smacked into his body, the boy hunched over in agony, his hand tightened on his chest in pain. It hurt so bad.
But only for a moment before he felt completely fine once more. But that did not replace the fear that he felt on top of it.
“H-he phased through me…? He…he cannot see me?” Jamie swallowed thickly as the bitter, acrid taste of terror wallowed in his throat, Jamie’s heart raced faster as a sheen of sweat formed on his face. His hands began to shake as a chill ran down his spine.
Tears threatening to spill from his eyes, he sniffled. “What’s going on? What happened to me.” He wondered. “Why me?” He looked up at the moon and shook his head in attempt to stop his distress.
Jamie stuffed his hands in his pockets to stifle the tremors, as he began to walk aimlessly in the other direction; the plane long forgotten and In place of it was questions with no answers, rhymes or reasons to any of them.
Jamie Bennett or rather Jamie Stellar was alone, afraid, confused and scared.

Chapter Text
Earlier that morning…
Jamie sat at his desk in the shared dorm room. His racing thoughts were keeping him from truly paying any mind to his surroundings.
“Jay jay? How’s school going, by the way? Did you meet new people?”
Sophie asked, seemingly distracted by her own activities.
Boarding school wasn’t that bad! Not great but not terrible either. The room’s were nice and the people were…different- but in a good way. How could Jamie complain? Being different was why his mom sent him here, right?
His note pad was beneath his hand and a pen clutched between his fingers, hastily moving around the paper, his phone was caught in the middle of his shoulder and his ear.
“Jamie!” Her high pitched voice whined on the other end of the line, seemingly not happy by whatever the boy had said prior.
“What? I didn’t do anything!” Jamie laughed and shook his head, pausing his movements for a moment smile at her reaction only to then continue the absentminded sketching of a small snow flake.
“Why couldn’t you have flown out yesterday! He really misses you, you know!”
Sophie chastised and Jamie’s grin falter slightly. The boy sighed sighed; evidently understanding who she meant by “him.”
“…..We all do.” she muttered the last almost pitifully
Jamie paused again, this time his thoughts became a pit of guilt that threatened to swallow him up if he wasn’t careful.
He spoke his next words carefully as to not upset her further.
“I know Soph, I know but a plane wasn’t leaving until tonight. And I’ll still be here before Christmas! look on the bright side I only have this next semester left before coming back permanently!”
The boy exclaimed, trying to comfort his little sister and was only met with silence before she responded quietly.
“Okay but- just don’t take too long coming back, Jay-Jay..” Sophie whispered
“I won’t. Love you Soph.” “Love you too, Jay.”
After their goodbyes Jamie hung up the phone and took a deep breath in.
Before promptly having the wind knocked out of him in a second.
He jumped, his pen falling out his hand.
“Pah -! Hey! Seriously?! Who threw- RAE?!”
Nursing the back of his head, groaning and wincing in pain. Once the pain subsided, Jamie scowled at his roommate for throwing a hard copy of- “Morozko?” Jamie questioned silently to himself.
“I was trying to get your attention, man-“ “I was on the phone.” The boy said bluntly before brushing it off and speaking again.
“Did you need anything?”
“Uh- oh um, hold on I just had my thought…Wait- Yeah! I just wanted to give you good wishes for the holidays!” Rae exclaimed, sitting back on his bed sheets. He continued.
“There have been this ‘bad mojo’ going around that’s been messing with everyone’s week, people are calling them bad wishes so why not wish you well?”
A small smile spread onto his face, he was never one to be skeptical but what’s the harm in accepting it? “Thanks, bro I really appreciate it.”
shrugged nonchalantly and went back to his side of the room.
“No problem.”
“Bad wishes, huh?” Jamie thought sounds a bit unbelievable even to his own ears…but…maybe…? “Whatever, probably doesn’t affect me.” He thought and continued his sketches.
