Confessions, Carpets, and Cramps

Summary:

It's really unfortunate when you forget what time of the month it is, but your boys are here to help you with that. Luckily for you, they know just what to do. Well, at least one of them does.

Work Text:

As any young woman, you had lost track of time and the weeks felt as though they have flown by. You curse yourself for having forgotten what time of the month it was. The floor currently being your best friend. The only reason James and Remus had known you were on the floor beside the sofa was because they watched you melt into the floor, quite dramatically.

The carpet and your face had become one. Just as your stomach and hands had seem to meld together. A throbbing ache resided across your lower abdomen, and the unpleasant feeling of wetness was highly unwelcomed. You can't help the small whimpers and groans falling from your mouth at every sharp stab that appears. You were overheated yet not hot enough at the same time. The fire did nothing to aid your dilemma either. Yet, it was oddly comforting to lay on the floor in that crumpled up position with your chest to your knees so close to the fire.

It took too much energy to even consider making it to the room you shared with Lily. Much to her concern as Lily continued to the bedroom, even waiting till she realized the boys on the nearby sofa had acknowledged your existence in the common room, not wanting to leave you alone in such a condition.

"Are you alright, Dove?" A voice you recognized spoke, concern painting his voice even if his features were currently not visible to you. Your face still one with the carpeted floor.

A soft moan was the only response given. It felt as if speaking might be the thing to bring you to tears.

Remus could see how your arms tightened once more around your curled up body from where he kneeled beside you. Even James, who still resided on the sofa, could see the amount of pain dominating your figure.

A well-known fact among the marauders was how badly your periods could be. They struggled to help you and it was not from lack of effort. Remus, who is very familiar with Madam Pomfrey, attempted to make potions to dull the pain. Nothing helped. James offered cream that they would often use on the Quidditch players for injuries and it did nothing. Leading to this very moment, where you now laid on the floor with two very concerned boys hovering nearby.

The crackling of the fire helped to calm your racing mind. The pain subsided, barely, but enough that when something brushed your head, you were able to glance over.

Remus had taken a seat on the floor next to you, "Really bad this time, huh?" he asked, another brush of his hand through your hair.

"Mhm," was the reply he got followed by squinty eyes from having them sealed shut for so long. A glance to the sofa told you that James had gone off somewhere, maybe up to their room. Remus was known to have a chocolate stash for these occasions and you thanked Merlin for it everytime.

The boy nodded at you, his face scrunched in thought as he stared. "I'd like to move you to the couch, atleast you would be comfortable there instead of on the hard floor," he said. The comforting brushes of his hand turned into a gentle circular motion across your back as you scrunched back into a ball.

You nodded at the boy, giving your stomach one last squeeze in hopes of appeasing the pains, and held out your hand to Remus.

Swiftly, Remus linked hands with your open palm, pulling you into a standing position before slinging his arm around your waist to keep you upright. If anyone could relate to the silent groans you made with every movement, it was Remus. He was much better at hiding his concerns as well. It was obvious when he gently laid you across the sofa and the grimace across his face was replaced by a soft grin.

"Much better," he said, sinking to the floor with his back leaning against the sofa, staring at you.

It was not long after, that you heard thumping coming from the entrance into the common room followed by echoing voices. Unfortunately, you had still ended up curling back into a ball, even if it was on the couch this time.

A nearby shout of, "Where is she?" echoed throughout the common room. Your eyes flew open at the voice, head tilting from where you laid on your side into an upright position.

Grey eyes met your droopy ones, and in a split second, a new weight was distributed across your body. Remus could be heard scolding Sirius by the way he pounced on you, however you had shifted to support the weight. Now, you laid on your back with Sirius draped across you, his head shoved into your neck, and any fly away hair now dusted your face.

While James and Remus seemed to have braced for some sort of scream, your pain dulled at the firm weight and heat that Sirius generated. You visibly sagged when the ache turned into twinge here and there. A sigh escaped your mouth while Sirius wrapped his arms around you.

"Hello, Lovely," Sirius murmured into your neck, his head raising enough to glance at you. Your own position shifting to meet his gaze.

The soft voice struck a chord, and suddenly your eyes began to glisten with a small sniffle. "Hi," you whined, eyes blinking trying to keep any stray tears from leaving your eyes.

A brief kiss could be felt at the base of your neck. Each kiss cascading up until reaching your jawline. Your own arms, which had been wrapped around Sirius, tightened with every new wave of pain. Not that the boy cared, he had dealt with worse when on the quidditch pitch. A little squeeze was nothing he couldn't handle.

His hands caressed your body where they laid wrapped around your hips. Head dropped back to its original position in the curve of your neck. Your eyes had fluttered shut after the first kiss, not wanting the moment to end.

By this point, James had known to make himself scarce. Not before leaving a bowl filled to the brim with all of your favorite chocolates. Remus, however, had not left. Instead, he had sat on the floor once again, having stood up to scold Sirius, with his back now against the coffee table. There was only room on the couch for two, and Remus had no intention of disturbing the two of you. Especially seeing as how this was the first time he had seen you in very little pain.

Your head rolled towards the side once more, meeting the boy's gaze, "Rem, c'mere," you had murmured, clearly on the edge of sleep now that the pain had finally subsided.

Remus moved in closer to the arm of the sofa where your head was. Your hand came up to grab part of his jumper, trying to bring the boy closer. Eventually, Remus slung his arm around your shoulders, leaning in to let you lay your head against his shoulder, as Sirius continued to lay across yours. Both bringing you the comfort and warmth you so desperately desired.

"Go to sleep, Dove," Remus whispered, glancing down at the boy on top of you who had already succumbed to his own slumber.

It didn't take long for you to follow his directions. Only following them after Remus murmured a small, "Goodnight, my Dove," followed by a gentle kiss against your forehead.
