Work Text:
Brendon lost his shirt a while ago.
Before he started making out with Ryan. Or, before Ryan started making out with him. It was Ryan who came up to him and said, "Hey, B, happy birthday." And kissed him on the mouth.
It's a nice kiss. It's not necessarily a good kiss, sloppy and Brendon is maybe a little more eager than Ryan, because in all the years they've known each other they've never kissed, but he's thought about it a lot. Wondered who would lead and if they'd take it fast or slow, where Ryan would touch him and whether Ryan would kiss him anywhere else.
Ryan doesn't, which is fine. Brendon is familiar by now with how lazy and slow Ryan gets when he's drunk, so he's not all that surprised Ryan's focus is on kissing his mouth, slowly, lazily pushing and licking with his tongue.
And Brendon is glad he's already shirtless, because he's hot and sweaty and Ryan's hands are cold on his sides. He likes having Ryan's hands on his skin, even if they're cold.
Brendon decides it's not fair he's the only one shirtless, and his fingers start to blindly fumble with the buttons on Ryan's shirt. It's a hard task to do drunk, and blind, because he refuses to break away from the kiss, but he manages to get four buttons undone and splay his hand over the newly bare skin before Ryan hums and pulls back and says, "Okay."
He's smiling, his hair a little messed up and his mouth red and his eyes big and dark. Brendon's seen Ryan's eyes big and dark like that before, when he's drunk or high, but he's never seen Ryan sink his pearly white teeth into his shiny red lips to bite down a grin after being kissed. Not from this close, at least. Not from being kissed by him. It makes Brendon want to kiss him again. He doesn't, because Ryan's teeth are in the way and because he's distracted now, looking at the pale skin under his hand.
Ryan gently takes his wrist and pushes him away, then clumsily buttons one of the buttons into the wrong hole. He doesn't seem to notice. Brendon doesn't think to tell him. A button is a button.
Ryan is still smiling at him, and again, he says, "Okay." Then, "I think making out is as far as Keltie would be fine with." He leans forward and gives Brendon one last kiss, lingering and sweet, not seeming to notice or mind that this time, Brendon forgets to kiss back.
He pulls back and says, "I'm gonna grab another drink. Do you want anything?"
Brendon shrugs. "Yeah, sure."
