Every year, there are a group of kids left at Welton Academy over winter break, one teacher in charge of keeping them in line. This job had been gifted to a new teacher with a peculiar way of teaching, overseeing five boys left at the school. Surely, nothing extraordinary will happen. Right?

Summary
Neil has had this dream since he was young, since he had a deep fascination with the stars and bought exclusively space books at the scholastic book fair. He takes his friend's hand, grabs onto it tight and squeezes. They're in space, the stars glitter and clash around them, coating the boys in white shiny shards of something (he can't quite put his finger on what it might be, it feels warm but much like the hand when he reaches for it, fully, it disappears beneath his touch). They run and laugh, the boy next to him shines in the starlight,
or: where Neil is always reaching, growing and learning. And Todd has always been there. (and Charlie too but i fear that may be a given)
