Work Text:
“Welcome back, dear viewers.” RJ says into the microphone while crouching, “Today is another special day, we’ll be taking another look around the manor to see what the others are doing.”
RJ crouches over to the door, motioning for CJ to follow him, “Follow me, Jim. But stay low, we can not be detected.”
They ungraciously walk out the door and go to the first door they hear noises coming from, “I can hear voices coming from Dark’s office. Let’s take a look inside.”
They get over to the door and open it up just enough for the both of them to look inside.
Google is showing the tablet to Dark, “-you and the others hanged them all up?”
Google nods, “Indeed. It took just a few hours to set it all up and connect them correctly.”
“That’s good. Thank you, Google.”
“You’re welcome.” He lays the tablet down and turns to him, “Though if I may ask, why did we have to put them up? We’ve never had a security problem before. Or do you think Mar-?”
Dark cuts him off sharply, “Don’t mention him. I,” Dark shakes his head, “You never know when it is needed, and with so many of us around, you can’t be too careful.”
Google nods, “Of course, I understand. If there is anything else you need me or the others to do, let me know.”
“I actually do have some questions about how these things work and where they all are. I can only see 4, and you said you put them all over the manor.”
RJ closes the door, “That should be enough. It’s not like we still need to learn how cameras work anyway. Let’s go find the others.”
They make their way downstairs and can hear an argument further up the hall. They quickly hide in a nearby broom closet and film the hall. They crouch down, RJ turns to the camera, “Stay quiet, Jim. And keep that camera rolling, this sounds good.”
CJ nods and films outside, RJ behind him, hiding away.
They see Bim coming up the stairs with a pretty aggravated Wilford behind them, “- told you, Trimmer. If you decide to use my studio, you need to clean up after it.”
“I was going to, and then you walked in.”
“Because I had to do an interview. Now I had to cancel that. It’s my studio, and,”
Bim spins to face him, “It's my studio, too. And you never said anything about an interview.”
“You never said anything about doing a game show.”
“Yes, I did. I’ve been talking about it all day.” Bim crosses his arms, “It isn’t my fault you got memory problems.”
Wilford gasps, “That’s low, even for you. You know-“
“I know, I know. But I tried my best to let you know about this game show. You could have said at any time that you were conducting an interview today.”
Wilford crosses his arms, scowling, “Like I need to tell you everything I do.”
“Oh, please, I don’t need to know everything, but if it is in our shared studio, I need to know.”
Wilford puts his hands on his hips, “I’m still the owner of it, you’re just a game show host.”
Bim smiles proudly, “At least people watch my show.”
Wilford takes out his gun, “I get more views than you. Besides, many don’t even know you exist.”
Bim starts fuming and balds up his fist, “That’s because I don’t get the airtime I deserve. My show is better than yours. And at least I don’t kill all my contestants.”
Wilford waves his gun, “What are you getting at, Trimmer. I never killed anyone. They always get back up, unlike your contestants. My memory might be bad, but I know what you are; we all know.”
“At least I clean it up, unlike you. You would just let them rot away, thinking it’s all fine and dandy.”
Wilford grins, “I’ll show you.” Wilford points his gun at him, and Bim ducks away, barely avoiding the bullet.
Bim’s eyes widen, “What the fuck, Wilford?!”
Wilford’s grin widens, with a tint of insanity in his eyes, “Just let me shoot you, Bim. You’ll get back up, I promise.”
Bim sprints of yelling for help, while Wilford takes after him, shooting.
The camera zooms over to RJ, “Well, I’m sure Bim will survive that. And otherwise, we have a doctor on hand. Talking about, let’s check up on him.”
They stumble out of the closet and go over to the clinic, “We’ve arrived, Jim. And so, to hear there is someone else inside, too.”
RJ opens the door and CJ films inside.
They see the doctor taking care of an injury on a sad-looking Silver. Who, surprisingly, is still wearing his mask.
“-u’re lucky it’s just some bruises and a sprained arm.”
Silver nods, “I know, I’m sorry.”
Dr. Iplier sighs and shakes his head, “No need to be sorry, Silver. It’s not like you did it on purpose.”
“I did help him on purpose.”
“Still, three against one is really unfair, no matter the power you have.”
“That’s true. You know, I really thought I could handle them easier by myself.”
“Just make sure to be more careful next time, okay? I know you want to help people, but you can’t help people if you injure yourself.”
“Yes, doctor.”
RJ closes the door and turns to the camera, “The good superhero always puts others first. Well, let's hope he heals soon, we can not stay without a good hero for long. But we can assure you that with the help of the doctor, he’ll be fine.”
“Now onward, Jim.” He steps away from the door, “Let’s see who we find next.”
They go onward and cross a door with on air in bright letters on it, they stare at it in amazement.
CJ zooms in on RJ, “This is a fantastic sneak peek, Jim. We shall see what the Host is up to in his studio.” His face turns serious, “We must stay quiet, since Host can see more than we know, Jim.”
RJ quietly opens the door, letting CJ film inside.
They see the Host sitting behind an old-style radio with a headset on. No lighting, except for the few light up buttons.
“No, you listen to me. Follow the direction and don’t get distracted, it’s not that hard.” The Host says into the microphone in a harsh tone.
It stays silent for a while.
The Host smashes his fist on the table, “When the Host gives you a direction, you follow it.”
After some more silence, The Host bashes his head on the table and lets out a defeated sigh. “Ugh,” He sits up and pushes on a few buttons, and speaks into a different microphone, “Author, you take it from here, this guy just doesn’t cooperate with me.”
They close the door, and RJ turns to the camera, smiling, “Interesting, very interesting. I’m sure it’s all in good fun, and no one gets harmed. You viewers out there need not to worry about the Host or the Author.” CJ zooms in, and RJ’s smile fades, “We hope.”
RJ and CJ get over to the living room, which is surprisingly empty. “We must continue and find the others.”
RJ looks around, motioning CJ to follow him, “Jim, there are others outside, we shall go-”
Before they can make their way over, they hear the back door opening up, and people enter the manor. They quickly hide behind the wall and film the hallway, where they see Yancy and Illinois looking into a mirror.
Yancy lets out a whine, “Fuck, you’re right. I’m red all over.”
Illinois winces, “Yep. That burn is gonna hurt for a while, doll.”
“I didn’t know the sun could be this strong. This never happened before.”
“Well, you were never allowed outside for so long before either.”
He rubs the back of his neck, looking defeated, “Yeah. I-I guess I just totally forgot sunscreen was a thing.”
Illinois extends his hand, “Come with me. I know a way that it at least hurts a bit less.”
Yancy takes hold of his hand and follows him upstairs.
CJ films them till they’re out of view and then turns to RJ, who gulps, “Ouch, well that’s gotta hurt.” He turns to the camera, “I hope you viewers out there don’t make the same mistake. Stay safe and use sunscreen. Unless you wanna burn.”
They move forward and, as swiftly as they can, make their way outside, “Hide with me, Jim.”
RJ and CJ duck behind the rose bushes again, and CJ films over to Bing, who is practicing skateboard tricks.
Bing holds up a camera and throws up a peace sign, “Suh, dudes. My name is Bing, and today I will be showing my cool new tricks.”
Bing sets down the camera and makes a flip on his board, landing down perfectly.
“Oh yeah. Easy.” He skates further, “Of course, I can’t show you all my new tricks, yet. Not enough space here. But when I get to the park tomorrow, I will show you all the stuff I learned. I might even get Google to join me there.”
Bing does another trick on a railing, form perfect, and lands down safely on the ground.
CJ films back to his brother, way too zoomed in, RJ has a bewildered look on his face, “How does he do that? The physics doesn’t make sense with it. He must use some mysterious trick to make the skateboard follow his will. His vlogs are like magic.”
RJ turns to the camera, “But, for now, we must continue to find the others.” RJ looks over to a sound coming from the nearby forest, “And so to see we’re in luck. The elusive King just emerged from the forest.”
CJ zooms in on him.
King has a few squirrels perched on his shoulders. Meanwhile, in his hand, he’s holding a half-empty jar of peanut butter, “You few have had enough. The others need their peanut butter, too.”
He walks over to a tree and puts the squirrels on for one up there. They scatter off, but one of the squirrels promptly jumps back down, “No, Timmy, no matter how sweet you are, you will not get more. You also need to gather nuts on your own. I know you can do it, come on.”
King tries putting him on the branch again, but the squirrel holds on to his hand, staring up at him.
Seemingly entered into a staring competition, he stares down at the squirrel.
Not a minute later, King closes his eyes and sighs, “Why do you always win? Fine, you can have a little more, but don’t ask again.”
King scoops some peanut butter on the tree and puts the squirrel next to it, who happily chirps and starts eating it.
King walks off to another part of the woods, peanut butter jar still in his hands.
CJ films back to RJ, “Well, we most likely won’t see him back for the rest of the day.”
RJ crab walks back to the manor, “I’m certain all egos currently in the manor are accounted for. Let’s go back upstairs to conclude the report.”
RJ and CJ make their way to their room, but stop when they spot Dark, dragging Wilford to his office.
“Film this, Jim.”
They hide behind a nearby wall, and CJ zooms in on the two leaders.
“What did I tell you about using your gun on the others?”
The reporter stumbles after him, not having much of a choice, “Ow, I’m sorry, Darkling. But it was his own fault. You should have heard what he said about me and my show.”
Dark stops in his tracks and sighs heavily, “Bim is in the hospital now because of you. You'd better hope he makes it out alive.”
Wilford waves him off, grinning, “Of course he would. They always do, you know that, you silly. And that is why I needed to shoot him, to show him it’s fine.”
Dark shakes his head and drags him over to his office, slamming the door shut.
CJ zooms in back on RJ, “Well, that sounds like a scoop if ever I heard one.”
They crawl back to their room, and RJ smiles to the camera, “But that will do for today. Don’t worry, viewers, we will be back soon to let you all join in on another day here in the manor.” RJ looks down, concerned, “And let you all know about Bim.”
