Flying lessons

Summary:

It had taken ages to convince him to let Omega try flying. Crosshair had only chuckled at his concerns, and told him he was overreacting. Omega would do great. Tech had already started teaching her the basics, hadn't he? Where was the problem?

Work Text:

He was trying, he was really trying, but the way he gripped the sides of the seat so tight that his knuckles went white probably gave his fear away.
His only comfort was that Tech was not faring better.
"For the fifth time, gravity applies to you too!" Tech gripped the yoke and pulled up, saving them from dying in a horrible crash. Omega looked apologetic and took over once the Marauder was stable again.
"This is harder than in space," she whined. "Somehow she always drifts down!"
"Yes, because of gravity," Tech explained, again.
It had taken ages to convince him to let Omega try flying. Crosshair had only chuckled at his concerns, and told him he was overreacting. Omega would do great. Tech had already started teaching her the basics, hadn't he? Where was the problme?
So when Tech finally broke and said yes, he forced Crosshair to be on the ship too. And Crosshair suspected that Tech was purposely letting Omega attempt to enter the atmosphere too and take a lap around the planet, just to show Crosshair that it wasn’t a good idea.
Crosshair yelped when the Marauder took another dip and Tech had to intervene again. Still, Omega was smiling between all her concentration faces. At least one of them was having fun.
"This is worse than Wrecker's first flight."
"Not worse than Hunter's though," Tech gave back. Crosshair shuddered when remembered that one. Occasionally that still appeared in his nightmares.
Before Corsshair could respond, the Marauder suddenly plummeted into a free fall - they had hit a solar flare. Everything was offline for a moment. It was only thanks to Tech's muscle memory that he immediately took over, fingers dancing over the console to reignite the engines and stop their fall just as suddenly as it had begun. Omega handled it really well, keeping the ship steady once the engines were back.
Crosshair's stomach not so much.
"Oh. Good job, Omega, we haven't yet managed to make Crosshair throw up even once." Tech still had a displeased look on his face. "But please clean up after you, Crosshair."
"I hate you," he groaned, still doubled over, and then glared at Omega who only giggled.
