Placing his bag on the coffee table, Jimin breathed a sigh of relief. It had been a hectic day, as he had visited the head office immediately after arriving in Korea. With the scandal looming over their heads, he had no other choice. His PR team had called him in to discuss the details regarding his relationship with the woman who claimed to be his girlfriend. They had brought in the company’s team of lawyers to discuss the course of action. After spending a hefty 10 hours in the conference room, Jimin’s back felt like it could break any minute.
His phone vibrated. It was his eomma. Picking up the phone, he answered with an exhausted voice.
“Yes, eomma.”
“Jimin-ah, are you home? Did you have your dinner?”
“Yes, I’m home, and no, I haven’t had anything yet.”
“Aww, my poor baby. Are you okay? Your appa and I were worried about you. These vicious people keep bothering my baby. Can’t even let him date in peace.”
“Eomma!” Jimin whined.
“Okay! Okay! I won't mention it again. Wait! Your brother wants to talk.” He could hear shuffling on the phone as his mother handed her phone to his little brother.
“Hyung, how are you?” Jihyun said, most probably walking away from the living room as he could hear his loud footsteps until a door slammed shut and the line went silent.
Taking a deep breath, Jimin replied, “I’m drained to the bone. These people just won’t let me live peacefully. Every few days, a new issue arises that I have to deal with.”
“It’s okay, hyung. Things will get better. I know they will.”
Jimined hummed in affirmation. He believed so, too.
“Why are you at home? Did you come directly from your office?” Jimin asked. Jihyun no longer lived with his parents.
“Yeah. When the news came out, eomma-appa were so worried, they called me. So I decided to drop by for some dinner. I will get back home tomorrow.” Jihyun replied as Jimin nodded his head slowly. A comfortable silence settled between the brothers.
“Honestly, you scared Eomma for a second”, Jihyun continued.
“Really?” Jimin asked. His family had been worried. He felt bad for his close ones who had to suffer because of him.
“Yeah. She thought she lost her favourite son-in-law”, Jihyun scoffed and continued, “as if you’d survive a day without him.”
“YAH!” Jimin screamed into his phone. “Be respectful to your elders, you brat.”
“What? I’m not wrong. At 30, you can barely cook. It’s honestly funny how all these women keep throwing themselves at you. Even the news anchor was shocked to see Park Jimin, the king of gays, having a heterosexual dating scandal. Imagine you?! Having a live-in relationship with an actual woman?! Incredible!" Jihyun said, taking a rise out of his brother.
"The sun could rise from the west, but Park Jimin can never be straight.”
“YAH! Do you wish to die?!” Jimin threatens. “First of all, I can cook. Okay?! I don’t need my boyfriend to cook for me. I’m a grown adult, unlike you. And second of all, I can do both straight and gay. And what's the problem with being gay? None of you all, women or men, could ever be as pretty as me.” Jimin huffed, his eyes rolling, sass dripping from his mouth like a rap as he went off at his brother.
“Huh! Making ramen isn’t considered cooking. And pretty? My ass!” Jihyun said, enjoying his brother’s irritation thoroughly.
“YAH! Fuck you, Park Jihyun!” Jimin screamed into the phone, while Jihyun continued to laugh at the other end as he hung up the phone. Throwing his phone on the couch, Jimin muttered a string of curses under his breath as if they would carry themselves to his brother telepathically.
After a minute of raging within himself, he turned around abruptly, only to stop and stare at the figure sitting at their dining table with a pot full of kimchi stew and two bowls of kimchi fried rice.
The figure raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow and asked in that deep voice, which drove Jimin crazy, “Done with your antics?”
“Nooo!”
Jimin whined as he marched towards the figure, stomping his foot like the petulant child he was, a pout adorning his face. The man shrugged, opening his arms for Jimin, who fell right onto his lap and claimed it like it was his throne- which, in retrospect, it was.
Climbing onto the man like a Koala, Jimin complained with a whine, “Hyungie! Jihyunie is so mean to me.”
Patting Jimin’s back, the man hummed in understanding, sending vibrations through Jimin’s chest like a purring cat. They rocked back and forth, holding onto each other in comfortable silence.
With his head perched on the man’s shoulder, Jimin softly said, “Eomma thought we broke up.”
His boyfriend hummed, indicating that he was listening.
“Like I could ever live without you.” Jimin continued, planting a tiny kiss on his boyfriend’s shoulder. They sat hugging in silence, limbs tangled together.
“Do you think it's possible? Us breaking up?” Jimin asked, contemplating the future.
After being together for such a long time, would he survive being separated from the love of his life? He couldn’t ever imagine a future without the man in his arms. Interrupting his line of thought, his boyfriend pulled back from the hug to stare into Jimin’s eyes with all the love the world could hold.
“After 12 years?” He chuckled, his cat eyes wrinkling adorably. Oh, how much Jimin loved this man.
“I don’t think I’ll survive it.”
The kiss is slow. Their mouths move in tandem, hearts soaring. Jimin’s hands wrap around the man’s neck, as the other hugs him tighter to bring their bodies closer.
A love so overpowering, it hurts Jimin’s heart and runs through his veins like life. Their lips moved against each other with desperation, drawing each other in like oxygen to their lungs.
They separate with a gasp, lungs searching for air as their chests rise and fall together in a rhythm.
Suddenly, a growl erupted from Jimin’s stomach, interrupting their moment and making his boyfriend laugh out loud.
“Come on. Let’s get something into your tummy”, he says, poking into Jimin’s soft stomach, making him squirm on his lap.
“You made all my favourites?” Jimin asks, with love and admiration in his eyes for the man.
“Hmm. I did.” The man says, leaving another peck on Jimin’s lips.
“You’re the best, you know?” Jimin replies.
“I thought you didn’t need me to cook for you?”
“Hyung!” Jimin whines with a pout.
“Okay. Okay. I won’t tease you, my big baby. Happy?” The man replies, leaning in for another peck mid chuckle.
“Hmm”, Jimin hums, his heart feeling full.
Turning around in his boyfriend’s lap, he lets the man feed him as he stares at his side profile- the contour of his nose, his jawline, his soft, pillowy lips. His heart soars with affection. He would choose this man in every single life he thinks.
“Yoongi hyung”, he whispers.
“Hmm?” Yoongi hums, turning his head to stare into Jimin’s beautiful eyes that form crescents.
“I love you, you know?”
“I know.”
