Chapter Text

The new school year didn't exactly start how Eugene imagined it, the total opposite, actually.

Last year, he had no friends, but when he met Wednesday Addams, for the first time in his life he felt like he had someone, like he was worth something. When his only friend left him for some normie named "Tyler", the bee boy just went into the woods alone, investigating on the Hyde. That's when it was the monster who found him, and as the boy desperately searched for his glasses, he was brutally gutted by the scary creature.

But, at the end, he survived, and he helped save the school!

After that, Eugene thought he'd make thousands of friends, he thought he'd become the popular guy, everyone cheering on him, well... Yes he did make some friends, although it wasn't how he imagined it would have been.

None of them actually cared for him, his interests, the names of his bugs or every single bee's favourite flower. No. They cared about his past, about how he was almost killed by the Hyde, and every time he said that he still didn't feel like talking about it, they'd make fun of him or just go away.

None of them exept one, Pugsley Addams. Wednesday's brother, she talked about her little brother last year, saying Eugene reminded her of Pugsley.

Pugsley did care for him, for his bugs and bees, for all the different types of honey, for how each of the bees had their own work to do. He'd listen to him yap about the smallest things and yet he'd still look at the boy with those eyes he always made when he listened to him, oh, those eyes...

Those eyes Eugene started to hate. He hated them, he hated him.

He cared too much, he always followed him around, every excuse was good even only to talk to him for a few minutes. And worst of all, he was the outcast in a school for outcasts, just like Ottinger was last year.

He tried to ignore him, to treat him like absolute shit, hoping he'd eventually get tired of all this, but no. He didn't.

After all, Pugsley wasn't so bad, sure, he was kind of a weirdo, but Eugene couldn't really do anything about it, it was an Addams he was talking about.

Still, the bee boy started noticing some weird thing, well.. Weirder than usual.

His roommate started sneaking out of the dorms in the middle of the night and come back a few hours later, he'd write things Eugene wasn't allowed to read, he'd hide them in his locker or take the letters with him. The Addams also bought a tiny digital camera, for whatever reason.

Eugene also didn't feel safe at night anymore, every time he closed his eyes, he felt like he was being watched, was the Hyde coming back for him? Was he just studying his routine so that he'll have enough informations to kill him once and for all? Something was watching him. Always.

"Pugsley?" the older boy murmured, not sure if his roommate was still awake.

"Yes?" he replied, almost a whisper, but Eugene heard it much louder.

"Do you ever feel like you're being watched? Like, especially lately?" Ottinger hoped he wouldn't sound stupid or childish, but Pugsley wouldn't notice anyway.

"Sadly not." his tone was now more distant, much colder. Eugene heard the sheets moving, but didn't want to face him.

"Yeah, Whatever. Night." he whispered, but the other boy probably didn't hear.

As he fell asleep, nothing changed, that creepy feeling of being watched stayed with him even in his dreams.

The next morning, everything was like usual, if it wasn't for the fact Pugsley was already gone, usually he would sleep ten more minutes and the older boy would have to wake him up. That was strange. Maybe he just had to do some of his research before class. Eugene's phone rang, he got dressed, brushed his teeth and packed his bag, that's when he noticed a letter on his desk. The paper seemed old, it was a bit yellow and had some scratches on it. There was a red wax seal, with a big "H" on it.

'"H?" who the heck is H?' He thought, while opening the note.

'Caro mio,

your talent is immense,

your beauty even more,

for you I would die,

for you I would kill,

why are you afraid?

I'm always here for you,

in the bad, and in the worst fate,

just call me, and I'll love you until eternity.'

The font a being a poorly written cursive, a bit trembly.

Next to it, a photo of him, taking care of his bugs, with nobody else there.

Oh.

Was that.. a stalker? No, it couldn't be.

Was that a good stalker? Maybe?

However, that was not good.

What did 'Caro mio' even mean?!

Eugene checked his phone; five minutes had passed already.

"SHIT!"

The boy miraculously arrived in time at his first class, that he shared with Pugsley.

As he sat next to him, he immediately started ranting about what had happened.

"So you have like some sort of stalker?" his friend asked, his tone calm.

"Yes, and I have no idea on what to do"

"That's... That's the COOLEST THING EVER!" the Addams boy exclaimed, louder than he meant to, but Orloff didn't seem to hear.

"What?! That's not true at all!" Eugene replied, adjusting the glasses on his nose for the fifth time since the lesson started three minutes before.

"Bullshit! Come on mate! That is just so cool, knowing that someone is always watching you, that they could attack you at any moment or even-" Ottinger stopped him with a punch on the arm and looked out the window as for searching another response.

"Ow! That hurt! See, if you really don't like this just ask my sister, she is pretty familiar with stalkers, if you forgot."

"Wait.. You're right!" Eugene expressed, looking first at the piece of paper in his hands, then at Pugsley, who was staring back. Something strange in his eyes, different. The bee boy wasn't so surprised, it was an Addams he was talking about, so he just got back to the assignment.

Wednesday opened the door, pissed off at whoever interrupted her writing session, her gaze softened as she realised who was waiting for her outside the door, only a little bit, almost unnoticeable, but it was there.

"Oh, uhm, hi Wednesday! I'm sorry to interrupt you, but it's kinda important..." Eugene shrugged, adjusting his glasses up his nose.

"Hello Eugene. I hope it is as important as you say it is." Wednesday said, her eyes piercing and judging towards the younger boy.

She led him into her and Enid's room, sitting on her bed.

"So.. Today I received this uhm... letter? And I think it may be from some kind of stalker. Well... I mean, very romantic stalker." The bee boy complained, blushing slightly, handing the note to his friend.

Wednesday gently accepted it into her hands, opening it, when she saw the words written in it, she opened her mouth only a second, before closing it again and blinking a few times, eyes absent while she handed it to Eugene.

"What am I supposed to say" the girl asked, thought it sounded more like a statement than a question.

"Oh I, well I don't know it's just... I mean Pugsley told me that maybe you'd know more than me and-"

"My brother told you to come to me?" Wednesday seemed a bit confused, probably for the first time, atleast to Eugene Ottinger.

"Are there any other Pugsleys in this school? Or in this planet?" Eugene giggled out, but Wednesday just stared blankly at him, he wouldn't have expected anything else from her anyway.

"I can't help you Eugene. Just one thing, pay attention to what's around you, everything. That's almost always the cue. Now, I have some work to finish." the black haired girl suggested, leading the boy to the door, and, at the right time, slamming it close, leaving the other student alone in the hallway.
