Work Text:

"I thought we booked a room with one bed?"

Their little hotel room is decidedly not what Caelus thought he booked online. He'd thought this was one queen bed with a view of the ocean, a nice little place for him and Dan Heng to relax for a few days. Instead, what he's looking at is three twin beds, absolutely none of whch are big enough to fit two adults.

"I did book a room with one bed. There has to have been some kind of mixup."

Dan Heng's got his head braced against his hand like he does when he gets really exasperated. "Should we be going down to the lobby to ask about this?"

"I, uh—" Caelus starts. He's…. actually not sure how to finish that sentence, he thinks. They probably should be going back down to the lobby to ask hey! where the fuck is the room we booked a month and a half ago! but he thinks he can make this work either way. Definitely. Or…. probably. Maybe?

Crossing the room, he opens the curtains, and right there is the shining glitter of the ocean on the horizon. It doesn't seem as high up as in the pictures, but that might just be a him thing, because he's never sure if he's judging that kind of thing right.

Dan Heng steps up behind him, suitcases forgotten in the entryway. "I think we might be on the floor below what you thought you booked."

"That is literally what I was just thinking. They gave us the keys to this one, though, so… I guess this is our room?" Caelus throws himself onto one of the beds face down. Dan Heng sighs in the background as Caelus peels himself off the blankets. "Yep, soft enough I think. Nice."

"That doesn't fix the issue of—" Dan Heng cuts himself off. "Where are we going to sleep?"

"See, okay, easy solution here that we might have to pay the hotel a bit of extra money to fix after we're done here, but that's okay because I'll totally pay it, don't worry about it." He flips himself off the far side of the bed towards one of the miniature nightstands holding lamps and alarm clocks. "Help me get all of this stuff out of the way. We'll just make one big bed."

"I would rather sleep alone," says Dan Heng, missing any bite. He's already moving to help out, to pick up the furniture when Caelus can't manage it (and who gave him the right to be that strong?) so Caelus can try to move the beds together.

Keyword try, unfortunately. Dan Heng ends up doing like half the work, which is just unfair, because it was Caelus's idea in the first place and it isn't his fault his boyfriend is stronger than him despite all the working out he's been doing, thank you very much. At the end of it, though, they manage to move two of the beds enough to squeeze them together into a passing semblance of something larger, though with an annoying gap in the middle that they have to stuff with spare blankets.

Caelus throws himself onto their new, bigger bed. "This is perfect. This is great. This is exactly what I booked, definitely, totally, don't fact check this ever."

Dan Heng chuckles, and Caelus thinks he might bluescreen a little bit at the sound, just like every time. "I'll trust you on this one."

"Great, because—" and, of course, that's when Caelus manages to tip himself backwards into the crack between the beds, proving instantly that their blankets solution was not working.

(He can see the amusement on Dan Heng's face as his boyfriend tries to fish him out. Beyond anything else, that is priceless.)
