Work Text:

CHARITY REUNION TOUR!

By Dennis Creevey

A once-in-eternity opportunity is occurring as the members of the beloved Burdened Beasts band reunite to perform a charity reunion tour. Manager Vernon Dursley admits the band has wanted to perform together again, they just never had the time nor a worthwhile cause/reason. Now they’ve gotten back together for a final tour to honor those lost in the recent devastations around the world.

Decades ago, the group broke apart but never gave any reasons. Manager Dursley only would admit that some tensions within the group and with their personal goals and aims were to blame for the group finally parting ways. After parting from each other singer and bass guitarist (as well as Vernon Dursley’s beloved sister) Marge Dursley became a well-known and respected member of the dog show circuit. Rumors have recently been circulating that she may have finally found someone to share her love of caring for those canine best friends who would previously have been abandoned and/or mistreated in her self-made and -run charity - Canine Complaints.

On a similar token, singer and keyboardist/guitarist Arabella Figg runs a cat café – Feline Felicitations – which serves snacks and drinks while allowing its patrons to meet and enjoy spending time with various cats, many of whom had been strays. She apparently was married to a lovely man who gave her three children shortly after the band separated. It was during this time that she opened Feline Felicitations, a favorite local spot and hidden gem in the town it operates within.

Final member drummer Rubeus Hagrid would leave the band to join a group of traveling zoologists attempting to help both save and document endangered species around the world. He claims worries about a love triangle within said band were unfounded seeing as Arabella Figg had already been engaged when they met and Marge Dursley was adamantly against dating him even if he’d seen her as anything other than a sister. He does admit that he had met a woman while traveling to some of the more remote areas, but he would not say anything else in regards to things not related to the band or its upcoming tour and tour dates.

As for Marge’s brother Vernon, he stayed as a liaison for the band’s merchandise and helped other bands grow in the industry. Solo artists, however, were not his forte. As iconic artist Harry Potter has stated in the past regarding their very public fallout: “He’s a great manager for groups, and possibly even other solo artists, but we had some fundamental differences in what my image should be that neither of us were willing to compromise on. Hopefully this tour is fantastic seeing as Burdened Beasts is among my favorite groups.”

Despite their public falling out, apparently, the members of Burdened Beasts all stayed friends. In fact, Hagrid showed me a picture of the band with their manager at their manager’s wedding. Marge Dursley and Arabella Figg both admitted that while they’d never be in a romantic relationship with Hagrid, a part of why they formed was because both had been attracted to Hagrid. The biggest issue though was that not a single member could agree on what pets were allowed to travel with them. Vernon claims he never had a stake in the arguments since he had his own trailer separate from the rest, but the biggest agreement between his sister and Arabella Figg was their refusal to allow Hagrid his exotic rescues.

Apparently, the band has saved numerous strays and while stray cats, dogs, and even the occasionally injured bird were fair game for the trailer to help rehabilitate, Hagrid was known to try to save any injured animal he came across. According to numerous sources these animals during the ten years the band was together, and touring included spiders, snakes, alligators, deer, moose, lions, sharks, and even a Komodo dragon once.

Despite their history and preference to aid nonhumans, they’ve come together once again for a worldwide tour where all proceeds from both the events and any merchandise during the time period of this tour are meant to aid those affected by the numerous disasters that have been spreading across the globe. The tour’s itinerary, including dates and locations can be found on their official website which most fans likely are already aware of.

Notes:

This is for Untagged Fest 2025. I was assigned the tropes of Prefect AU and Band AU and decided to use the Band AU after being assigned the characters of Vernon Dursley, Marge Dursley, Arabella Figg, Rubeus Hagrid, and Dennis Creevey, all of whom were technically included.
