Kisses in the Rain

Summary:

Morpherine Week Day 1 - Rainy Day

Work Text:

The rain had started while the team was still in the Danger Room. By the time the team filed out, drenched in sweat, it had turned into a downpour that could be heard throughout the warm mansion.

Logan headed straight for the showers, already pulling his sweaty cowl off his head. He half-expected to hear Morph behind him, complaining about Scott’s drills or trying to beat everyone to the hot water. But when he glanced back, the hallway was empty.

“Huh,” Logan muttered. It wasn’t like Morph to miss a chance to make him blush in the locker room.

After a quick shower, Logan grabbed a cold beer from the kitchen and went to track Morph down. Their room was empty. The rec room, too. He frowned.

Then he caught it, faint but distinct under the smell of rain and wet earth. Morph’s scent. He followed it through the side door and out into the storm.

There they were.

Or, well, something was bounding across the lawn in ecstatic circles, fur plastered to its sides, tail wagging like a metronome gone haywire. A golden retriever.

Logan leaned against the doorframe, rain spattering his bare arms. “You gotta be kiddin’ me.”

The retriever skidded to a stop, ears flopping, and barked once before shifting back mid-shake. Suddenly, Morph was just… Morph. Laughing, arms outstretched like they were soaking up every drop of the storm.

“Caught me,” they grinned, rain dripping from their chin. “You should’ve seen your face.”

Logan shook his head, but there was a small tug at the corner of his mouth. “Yer gonna catch pneumonia.”

“Can’t if I don’t have lungs.” Morph splashed through the puddles toward him, grinning and stretching out a hand toward him. “C’mon.”

Logan arched a brow, still planted in the doorway. “Not a chance.”

“Oh, come on.” Morph splashed toward him, bare feet kicking up water. “It’s raining, it’s romantic, this is literally a movie moment!”

Logan took a swig of his beer, unimpressed. “Being warm inside can be romantic too.”

Morph pouted dramatically, then their grin returned in full force. “Guess I’ll have to convince you.”

Before Logan could react, they grabbed his wrist, shifted stronger, and tugged. Logan grumbled but let himself be pulled a step, then another, until the rain was dripping off his hair and plastering his shirt to his chest.

“There you go,” Morph said triumphantly. They slid their arms around his waist, pressed close despite the storm soaking them both. Then, with a wicked sparkle in their eye, they kissed him, slow and deliberate

When they pulled back, their lips brushed his ear as they whispered, “Just like The Notebook .”

Logan frowned, blinking water from his lashes. “What notebook?”

Morph burst out laughing, “Oh my god, you’re hopeless.”

Logan just shook his head, but his hand settled firmly on their waist. “Hopeless, huh? You’re the one kissin’ me in a storm.”

Morph grinned down at him, rain dripping from their nose. “Yeah. And I’m not done yet.”

They kissed him again, laughter and rain tangled together.
