Work Text:

A soft sigh and comfortable warmth,  Lizzie sighed as she woke up to the smell of coffee wafting from outside her room.

It was a pleasant scent,  something soft and full of love.  Something that'd definitely wake her up if she took a sip of the soothing drink.

She hummed,  turning onto her side to greet her husband a good morn,  yet when she reached her hand over,  the smell of coffee finally clicked in her head.

She finally opened her eyes out of complaint,  grabbing onto the sheets  -  finally realizing the lack of Joel's presence.  How dare he leave her all alone in the bed,  how dare he leave her when she's at her most vulnerable.  Rubbing sleep out of her eyes and her mind waking up!  Lizzie grumbled,  letting herself plop onto her back with a dramatic grumble.

The sun shone on her face,  the curtains slightly open,  letting both warmth in and light.  With squinted eyes,  Lizzie reached over to look at her phone.  It was early into the morning,  around 8am.  The curtains Joel had chosen when they first moved in here gave the sun a golden hue when it shone through.  It was homey,  making Lizzie feel secure in the man she chose to adore for the rest of her life.

She set her phone back down on her side table,  groaning as she sat up.  She hated waking up in the morning,  she needed at least twenty minutes of cuddles from Joel when she first wakes.  He's going to get such a mouthful from her for abandoning her!  He'll regret it!  She grumpily slipped on her house slippers,  a Christmas gift from Jimmy.  A yawn slipped from her as she rose from the bed,  drowsiness nestling into her body.

Stars above,  she needed a coffee.

As she left the room,  shuffling down the hall.  Activity was heard from the kitchen,  folk songs being played softly from a speaker they had in their kitchen.  Plates clashing together,  water running  -  a sign of Joel washing dishes.  As she got closer,  other smells outside of coffee hit her.  A smell of a cooked breakfast called to her as she rounded a corner into the kitchen.

The sight before her was a sweet one.  She leaned lightly against the doorless door-frame,  watching Joel meander around.  His tail swayed to the music,  an acoustic sounding song coming to an end,  as he finished up dressing a plate of pancakes with fruit.  Lizzie felt lovestruck,  Joel had gotten up and out of bed early to make them both breakfast.  It was special.  It was serene.

Joel's ear twitched as Lizzie giggled,  he finally noticed her staring at him like he was someone mesmerizing.  To be honest,  he was to Lizzie.  He was her husband,  how could she not admire him a little?  It's not everyday you get to see the love of your life so in the zone.  Seeing him so softly always made Lizzie's heart flutter.  It was sweet.

"  How long have you been staring for?  "  Joel spoke up,  a small flush creeping onto his face as he looked over at his wife.  He turned back around to finish the fruit cutting he was now working on,  there was a plate on the table that was already dolled up.  Lizzie walked over to the chair the plate was place in front of,  sitting down and sighing.

" Not too long,  don't you worry.  You didn't embarrass yourself or anything,  silly.  "

Joel sighed out of dramatic relief,  chuckling under his breath.

She could tell he was relieved that she hadn't seen anything that might've embarrassed him.  Implying that he was definitely nerding out to the music he had on before she woke up.  She had caught him geeking to music prior,  typically when he's in the shower and she's walking by the bathroom.

"  Good,  well  -  breakfast is served,  my queen.  "

Joel set down his plate and coffee,  speaking with a purposely posh accent.  As if he were some butler from a British TV show their parents would've watched.  Lizzie huffed out of amusement,  giving him a smile as he pressed a kiss onto the top of her head.  He grazed his hand over Lizzie's shoulder,  give it a quick comforting squeeze before he sat down.

"  Why thank you,  kind sir.  "  Lizzie giggled,  returning the bit.  Joel chuckled into his coffee,  mid-sip.  Lizzie hummed once she got coffee into her system,  finally feeling more awake before she dug into her pancakes.  Mornings like these is what Lizzie loved,  it was a part of her vows  -  Joel used to make her breakfast every single time the two were off work on the same days.  It was Lizzie's favourite part of the mornings,  that and her extra twenty minutes of cuddling.

This kind of love was what she had wished for since she was little.
