Work Text:
- Romance was a flirt, the biggest flirt out of the boys. It was part of the reason he was given the name and persona that he got. It came naturally to him. After three centuries on earth, he’d picked up corny lines and fresh flowers, some of which were guaranteed to make the ladies swoon.
- But you, you were different. Tougher to crack. His cheesy words didn’t work anymore. His smile—no matter how charming—pulled no reaction from you.
- Romance was a flirt, yeah, but love was a feeling he was unfamiliar with. It had been years since he’d truly loved anybody.
- He was used to three month relationships and one night stands. Not late nights up that he spent tossing and turning, thinking about you.
- But he couldn’t help it. Something about the way you smiled, the way you spoke, the way you shoved his shoulder when you laughed at his cringey jokes a little too hard.
- You were a Saja Boys super fan, at every concert, at every variety show, every meet and greet. He’d always see your face, maybe a huge sign every now and then. And sure idols were supposed to interact with their fans outside of shows but he couldn’t help it.
“Hey, beautiful,” he said, his hands wrapping around the pen and paper that you’d handed him.
“Hi,” you say excitedly, the words catching in your throat as you bounce excitedly on the balls of your feet.
“Who should I make this out to?”
“Y/n,” you giggle.
“Hm, pretty name,” he smiles, his hands gripping the pen tighter as it flies across the paper, his signature flowing and perfect, just like him.
You sigh dreamily.
Was there a five minute limit as to how long he could talk to a fan? Yes, there was. Did he completely ignore it just to talk to you more? Absolutely. It wasn’t until Baby muttered something in his ear that put a grimace on the pink haired demon’s face.
“Hey pretty, so there’s a time limit you know?” He says sympathetically—he himself disappointed.
A frown falls on your face.
“But,” he whispers, “I’ll give you this,” turning it over, writing something small in the corner.
You tilt your head in confusion, your eyes scanning the paper as he hands it back. The next fan ushers you away from the table, your eyes catching his one last time as you run your thumb over the textured words.

- romance ♥
Your heart fluttered—just a bit. And ever since that day, you two were inseparable.
- You truly did live in that man’s head. You were haunting, everything about you was perfect. Everything he wanted and more. And not to mention the chase was kinda fun too.
- It humbled him. When you were around he wasn’t just Romance, some perfect rich idol, he was an actual person with an actual meaning in life.
- God something about you just made his head go dizzy.
- Honestly, everything about you.
- He could name a thousand things about you that he loved.
- He loved you, in ways he’d never imagined he could love someone.
- Honestly, the thought of loving someone seemed otherworldly a couple hundred years ago, but now with you in his life, there wasn’t even a second thought to it.
“Pleaseee,” he practically begged, quite literally on his knees in front of you, his hands on the back of your thighs.
“Dude this is a new low even for you,” Baby muttered from the couch, his forgotten phone slipping from his hand.
“Yeah, it’s kinda pathetic,” Abby said, from behind you both as he rumaged through the cabinets in the kitchen.
“Just one date, please, baby, I’ll do anything. What do you want?” He said frantically, ignoring his bandmates.
“For you to get off the floor,” you chuckled, your hand resting on his shoulder.
He dropped his head, now resting on your knees.
Jinu walked down the hall, pausing as he glanced at the scene in front of him before turning back around, mumbling something under his breath.
Even Mystery rolled his eyes from under his heavy bangs before turning back to watch Baby on the game.
“Ro, please get off the floor,” you sighed.
“Will you go out with me?”
You shake your head, laughing softly, “Baby, it’s gonna take more than your begging to get me to go out with you,” you say, patting his head, looking down at him.
Did he get the yes he wanted? No... But you called him “baby” and patted his head. He nearly fainted at the sound.
The three boys shook their heads in disapproval but he couldn’t care less.
- That was one of his latest attempts. It’d started off with his cheesy one liners, though, something along the lines of “All the good pick up lines are taken… but you aren’t”
- And yeah, it definitely got a laugh out of you, but not your address, and what time he’d be able to pick you up.
- So he persisted, he tried and tried and tried, and when that didn’t work he got down on his knees and begged and begged and begged. And when that didn’t work? He prayed… to a fucking goddes he didn’t even believe in. Romance. A demon. Dropped to his knees to pray for your love.
“Aphrodite, can you guide me? Tell me what she wants to hear… Can you help me? Cast your spell please! Strike her with love so severe. Oh, show her my love is sincere…” He mumbled under his breath, his hands clasped tight together.
“Romance, did you take my-...” Jinu's airy voice fills the room.
Romance jumped to his feet, dusting his knees off, “Huh? What?”
“Are you..?”
“Don’t even mention it.”
A soft grin across his face as he stands in the dark room, “This is not a good look for you, I hope you know”
“Shut up,” he grumbles, switching his light on. He flops down on his bed, Mystery following suit.
“So I take it nothing’s working then?” He asks.
“I don’t know what she wants from me,” he throws his hands up in exasperation, “Everything I do, everything I say, nothing works. She just doesn’t want me.”
Mystery shakes his head, “Or maybe she wants you more than you know and doesn’t want to be hurt by you.”
Romance blinks at him, shocked by his words, “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Mystery lays a hand on his friend's shoulder, “I’ve heard you say some of the same things you’ve said to her that you’ve said to fans who looked at you some kind of way”
Romance’s face falls, he hadn’t thought about that. Holy shit, he hadn’t thought of that!
“Oh shit!! You’re right,” he shouts—Mystery winces at the sounds, his heightened senses picking up a few more octaves than he’d have liked. He gives a weak nod.
“Thank you, Myst!” Romance rambles, “Thank you so much,” he rushed out his room, leaving the lavender haired demon sitting on his bed.
Another nod.
- Romance had it all planned out, he’d pick you up, take you out—without telling you it was a date of course… wait, was this a date?—and he’d tell you all the sweet things he felt about you, the way you brightened his day, the way you made him laugh like no other. He’d share his thoughts about you, with you! Maybe if he made it known that he was real about you, you’d give him a chance.
- Spoiler alert, it worked. You like Romance a lot more than you let on. You weren’t a super fan for no reason. Every sign had his name on. Every chant you shouted, you spoke his name the loudest. You used to have posters of his face in your room—took them down the second you became friends because it was kinda creepy… but even to this day he was your favorite person.
- But you knew how he was. Romance was a flirt. He talked to you the same way he talked to all the girls. And the whole begging fiasco, well, you figured he just liked the challenge.
- You refused to be hurt. You knew he cared about you, but old habits die hard, and you didn’t want your heart broken simply because Romance was Romance.
- But oh god, when he picked you up, his perfect hair framing his perfect face perfectly, you felt like your heart might have stopped right then and there. Okay, maybe that was an exaggeration—it wasn’t, but he looked good nonetheless.
- And that evening, he treated you like royalty. He’d opened doors for you, he’d taken you on a sporadic shopping trip, paid for your things, held your bags.
- And when you went to get food, he ordered for you without even asking what you wanted… and he got the order right—oh god, the little things, your stomach did literal flips.
- The food was good, so incredibly good and you had been starving all day. But now you were full and your stomach felt like it was gonna burst.
- He’d asked you if you were good to walk, as he discreetly slid a few hundred dollars into the checkbook that you insisted on paying because he’d paid for you at the stores.
- You looked at him, confused.
- “Huh?”
- “Can you walk? Or actually, let me ask, do you want to walk?”
- What kinda question is that?
- Long story short, Romance was convinced on giving you the princess treatment tonight, which is exactly how you ended up in his arms, yours wrapped around his neck as he carried you out to the car.
- “You’re insane,” you chuckle softly into his neck, the itis taking over your stomach.
- He shushed you, setting you down and letting you lean against the passenger side door. He rested his hands on your shoulder, slowly trailing them down to your waist, waiting for you to say something.
- “You know if I weren’t smarter, I’d say this seems an awful lot like a date”
- “Yet you waited until it was over to say something?” He quirked a brow, his stomach screaming at the sight of your low lidded eyes.
- You shrug slightly, a lazy smile on your face “I said if I weren’t smarter, didn’t I?”
- He chuckles, shaking his head, “So that means I’m not in trouble then?”
- You pretend to mull it over, “I guess not, but only cuz you bought me dinner and shit ton of things.
- “Anything for my girl,” he shrugs, like he wasn’t a thousand dollars shorter than he’d been just a few hours ago.
- It was your turn to raise a brow, “Your girl, huh?”
- “What happens if I say yes..?”
- “I ask why you took so long to finally do something about your feelings.”
- He looks down bashfully, “Romance isn’t my forte…”
- You giggle softly.
- “Ironic, I know.”
- You tilt your head, analyzing him closely, his hair blowing softly in the wind.
- “Thank you for today…” you whisper into the night.
- “Of course,” he pauses, “I’m sorry it took me so long to treat you right,”
- “Me too,” you scoff, playfully nudging his shoulder.
- That gets a laugh out of him, “It’s okay. I’m just glad you finally did something.”
- “No, it’s not okay, you’ve been putting up with my bullshit for how many years now?”
- “Just two, it could’ve been worse,” you joke, “So what finally got through to you?’
- “Jinu,” he chuckles.
- “Smart guy,”
- “He’s the leader for a reason.”
- You shake your head, moving your hand to cup the side of his face, “I was talking about you,” you smile widely, “Do you have any idea how badly I wanted to cave? I started to think you’d never realized what you needed to do.”
- A big ass smile breaks out on his face, “So just to clarify, you do want me?”
- “God you’re a lost cause,” you giggle, bringing him closer and pressing your lips to his.
- The two of you stand there in the late night air, wrapped in one another, his grip on your waist tightening as he restrains himself from deepening the kiss—wanting to take it slow.
- He pulled away slightly, a stupid grin developing as he forms his lips to say something.
- You stop him, “I swear to god if you say something stupid I’ll walk home,”
- “Nevermind.” He says shortly before pulling you in for another breathtaking kiss.
