Stolen Moments

Summary:

How a pencil thief turned to be the love of Divina's life.

Notes:

A longer one to make up for the shorter fic :)

Work Text:

Divina was new to the school. Her uniform shiny, her hair combed perfect for hours in front of a mirror the following morning, and her social standing as innocent as her mind.

Principal Weems entered the quad.

Divina looked up from her phone as did Kent and Bianca next to her.

“I’ve to announce the following dates, these include dates for exam season, end of semester and The Rave’N.”

She began listing dates, Divina remembering to note it down made a reach for her notebook and pencil.

Grabbing the small book with ease she searched her pockets for her pencil. Where was it?

Divina began to panic, she didn’t know why, it wasn’t a big deal.

Suddenly she saw another student across the quad twiddling the pencil between her fingers. Divina examined the girl, she was tall, her dark hair fell freely to her chest at least, when the girl smirked Divina noticed a fang poke out.

Her eyes narrowed, of course. Of all sorts of monsters that took her pencil it was a vampire.

Vampires were notorious for their over confidence, large egos and snide remarks. This one would be no different. Divina was sure of it.

One Weems left the quad Divina wasted no minute before storming to Yoko. Facing the vampire with a fiery glare. The girl barely reacted.

“Give me my pencil back.” Divina grunt.

The vampire shrugged.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” She responded.

The vampire smirked, looking down at Divina in such a way that almost made the siren back off, Almost.

“Give Me My Pencil.” Divina said again, emphasising every word.

The vampire staggered back when she saw the claws retract from the nails of Divina’s fingers, returning the pencil. Much to her own dismay, the siren smirked pocketing it.

“Jeez, it was just a little joke, on the newbie here.” The vampire had slightly stammered. She hid her nervousness behind another cocky smirk.

“Who are you to steal things from other students and shrug it off?”

“that’s not any of your business Divina Fisher, besides we both know you couldn’t care less for that pencil, so is it really stealing?” The vampire asked innocently.

She took a step towards Divina.

“Yes stealing is stealing.” The siren retorted before turning on her heel and returning to Kent and Bianca.

Vampires, so fucking – hot.

Yoko’s friends joked about the interaction for weeks before the met again. Seline teased her for backing off the others joining in every now and then before Yoko scowled them away.

“Oh please you would’ve done the same in my position.”

They jeered. Yoko placed her aviators in her pockets. Confused when it hit something besides fabric.

She slowly pulled out a small book. That wasn’t hers, this blazer wasn’t hers. Oh for fucks sake. The initials D.F had been written in bold on the front of the notebook.

Of course it was her notebook, of course it was her blazer. Of course the universe hated her.

Yoko glanced around nobody was watching. She flipped through the pages.

Rolling her eyes, the siren was so predictable, the pages were mostly dates, homework given and important notes from each class. Another goodie two shoes.

On the last written page Yoko noticed a rubbed out sketch.

Her jaw dropped slightly as she blinked, the many unobservant monsters wouldn’t be able to tell what it was but even behind the shaky lines and the slight fading from the rubber Yoko saw herself.

It was a sketch of her.

She felt her heart pound as she quickly shut the notebook and put it back in the blazer pocket. Her face must be pink, for fucks sake it was probably bright red.

“You!” Yoko heard a high pitched yell across the hallway.

She turned to see a fuming Divina, blazer in her hand. To say she was slightly shaking at the sight was an understatement, she was terrified.

“You pencil stealing blazer thief.”

In a matter of seconds Divina was in front of the vampire, huffing. Yoko felt a sense of déjà vu but this time her confidence had drained, and all because of a stupid rubbed out sketch she was never meant to see.

Yoko stammered, unable to say anything as Divina glared up at her.

“Are you daft or something? Yoko’s blazer is in your hand, clearly she didn’t steal it and it was just a mix up.”

Yoko grew more afraid now her friend’s were joining in, but not for herself rather for her.

“Give it back Fang.” Divina stabbed.

Yoko saw a sense of fear behind her eyes. Covered with faux anger but otherwise clear as day to just her. Seline hadn’t noticed Divina’s lack of an upper hand.

Divina’s secret, her reason for the desperation, the sketch, all in Yoko’s pocket. Divina wasn’t asking for her blazer rather her notebook. But Yoko couldn’t move, she felt like she walked in on something drastic and wanted to claw it out her mind.

She felt like she had fallen in love all over again.

And for once she hated it.

“Didn’t you hear me fish face? it was an accident, she didn’t steal it. So stop acting like she did.” Seline countered.

Divina’s faux angry desperation turned to rage as she turned from Yoko to Seline.

“Back off, this is between me and the thief.” She hissed.

Seline wasted no time punching Divina square in the eye.

Yoko shoved out her shock quickly pulled Seline away.

“Seline! Stop it!” She yelled.

Divina had staggered to the floor, the whites of her eye turned red as she teared up but didn’t cry.

“Divina-I-I’m so sorry.” Yoko stammered. She reached out a hand but the siren slapped it away quickly with a frown.

Feeling her blazer hit her chest, Divina’s knuckle grazing her chest for a split second and the heat of Divina’s rage left burns.

“Just give me the blazer and we can forget about it.” She scowled.

The vampire obliged, quickly handing Divina the blazer and notebook.

Neither of them looked at the other as Divina left the group. Yoko reached out to touch where Divina’s fist made contact with her chest, her fingers shaking and she felt flutters.

It’s been a couple days since Divina last saw her zebra teddy bear, a week since her last encounter with Yoko. Her eye now of a light brown tint. She had searched frantically, upturning her room for the stupid toy. Her brother next to her had tried to reassure her.

“Someone stolen it, it’s been stolen.”

“Sis you hated that teddy and always complained to anyone who listened about the fact its purely black or white. So if you didn’t like it then is it really stolen?” Kent asked.

Divina nudged him.

“Ok sure I hated how not even it’s mane was rainbow and how it was basically a standing straight flag but still it’s been stolen.”

It took Divina all of 2 seconds for her eyes to narrow again.

Who else would steal yet another thing of Divina’s besides her. Oh she’d chase the vampire down and make use of her claws.

Divina found herself not getting the chance, for almost 3 days she’d not seen Yoko around, she asked Enid but even the werewolf was perplexed.

“I don’t even know why you’re hunting so hard for this girl.” Bianca sighed as she touched up on her lipstick.

Divina scowled at the siren.

“Cause she stole Zeezee.” She retorted as though it was common sense, it was wasn’t it?

Kent gave her a confused glance.

“Yeah but surely sis you can just find her when she passes you like every other student. You don’t have to look for her. Also do you even know her name?”

Divina fell silent.

She only remembered trying to get her name. how did the vampire even know her name?

Bianca was about to say something before the 3 heard a knock on the dorm door.

Divina opened it to find Zeezee, her once black and white mane now soft with colour of all shades. Her once button dead inside eyes now rainbow as well.

Divina pulled off a note taped to the stuffed zebra.

‘An apology gift for my friend giving you a black eye.’

Her.

“How the fuck did she find out dorm? Should we be concerned?” Bianca asked Divina.

The siren only shrugged response, her heart thud as she held Zeezee close.

Darkwood and Almonds. She smelt of darkwood and almonds. How Divina wanted to drown in that scent, how she wanted it to be what scent she died in. she ignored the connotations behind that thought.

“So she did steal it?” Kent asked.

Divina’s heart thud to heavy to respond, only giving a satisfied hum.

“Is it stealing if she returned it though?” Bianca also asked.

Divina tuned out their words, Zeezee still held at her chest as she imagined the vampire sewing the stuffed zebra, how she turned it from something she once hated to something she never wanted to let go. How she turned herself from someone Divina hated to someone, the only person Divina ever wanted to hold and never let go.

Oh.

She was so deep in love, how long had she been like this for?

Divina saw her everywhere. They never talked, exchanged anything about themselves, To Divina she was still the vampire who stole her pencil and more.

They glanced at each most lunches, across the cafeteria, eyes locking and time stopping, for a couple seconds if Divina was lucky. Stolen glances Bianca had said when Divina brought it up.

“You’re getting so much more in love at each day passes, I’d be proud if she weren’t a vampire.”

At some point Divina remembered agreeing, but maybe vampires weren’t so bad. Definitely not this one.

Besides if she didn’t mind the stolen glances, were they ever really stolen?

It was the night of the Rave’N when Divina saw the vampire again. Bianca had spent the previous hours touching up her makeup. Kent reassuring his sister of how hot she looked.

Divina never wore dresses, besides her school skirt. She put on one of her brother’s old suits, one that long stopped fitting him, but fit her perfectly.

Kent had it tailored to show off the most of her curves, Bianca picked out the best ways to accessorize it, settling on switching the black tie to a dark blue bowtie, fitting over the blue shirt and dark blue trousers.

Divina buckled the belt eying herself in the mirror. She looked herself up and down.

“It feels, very less me.” Divina sighed.

Bianca nodded. Kent quickly took off the bow tie, Bianca replaced it with Divina’s favourite choker, fastening it as she watched the siren’s frown fade into a soft smile.

“Suits you better than the bow tie and bonus, shows off more of that cleavage. I think it’s perfect.” Bianca exclaimed.

Divina and Kent nod.

Now she was here, sipping a mocktail with Kent talking endlessly about…someone? Bianca dancing with Xavier.

Her eyes locked with the vampire again, the drop dead gorgeous vampire. She had curled her hair, once straight turned wavy, her dark red gown reached the ground and was decorated with black lace, accessorized with golden jewellery.

Maybe Divina had a thing for mascs, but she had an even bigger thing for mascs showing their feminine sides. A very big thing it seemed.

Divina couldn’t help herself but eye the vampire up and down, gaze stopping and specific spots before reaching back to her eyes, no longer shielded behind aviator glasses, no longer shooting daggers.

The vampire shared a look with the siren, soft and cold eyes met warm and hard ones, both gazes weakened upon the interaction but both girls felt strengthened by it.

Divina watched the vampire, waiting for her moment to step in, to say something, to not sit and watch for a change, to give in to siren history and allure yet another victim, but do it in the way they should not the way they could.

Her moment came, the vampire’s friends left to dance with other guys and girls, leaving the vampire at the table sipping her drink, staring hard at Divina.

Divina approached her.

“Hey pencil thief.” She said cooly.

The vampire rolled her eyes with a chuckle.

“Still using the nickname I see.” She teased.

Divina sat next to her. Both hearts thumped and both mouths twisted into smiles. The fang that Divina used to hate when it poked out, she found herself weirdly aroused by.

She wondered how it would feel if –

No.

Not yet.

“My name is Yoko. Yoko Tanaka.” The vampire greeted.

Divina nod. Yoko’s face flushed pink.

“Do you wanna go outside and talk? It’s loud here.” Yoko asked.

Divina nod. Giggling slightly when Yoko took her hand and led her out the hall.

She followed the vampire, down corridors and up some stairs. Until they reached a balcony, a very large balcony. Many circular windows led to it, one specific one stuck out, it’s bright colours almost blinding Divina.

“This is probably my favourite place to be at night. It’s so peaceful.” Yoko admitted as she leaned against the balcony ledge.

Divina nod. Both girls could hear the music hollering from the hall, they could hear cheers. Soon they’d hear the fireworks set to be lit up at midnight.

Divina joined Yoko at the ledge.

“I saw the sketch. If you were wondering why I was so frozen up when you came to get your blazer, that’s why. Cause I saw it.” Yoko muttered weakly.

The siren nod.

“You’re very sweet Yoko. Sweeter than I thought you were. Any other vampire or even monster would’ve publicised what you saw. But you kept quiet.”

It took all of Yoko’s strength not to humiliate herself, the way her name rolled off Divina’s tongue, making her tingle and squirm in ways never occurred before.

“And you’re charming Divina.” She responded a weak response.

“Well I have to be to steal partners hm?” Divina added.

Yoko fell apart there and then. She had one sentence left before she’d completely lose grasp. And she knew just what to say.

“You can’t steal me for I am all yours Divina.” She mumbled.

And before the siren could respond Yoko had placed her hands on Divina’s cheeks and pulled her into a kiss.

A stolen kiss, a stolen first kiss. Divina thought, her mind raced as their lips stayed together. Their hands grasping onto the other as they lost the need to breathe.

Divina liked it, it wasn’t stolen, it was given.

She was given a kiss, and she liked it.

When they pulled apart, they reconnected soon again. Neither wanting anything besides each other, not that they needed anything else.

One kiss turned to 2 that turned to 3 that turned to many more. Just the 2 peacefully kissing on the Ophelia Hall balcony, the sound of fireworks accompanying noises made.

She heard nothing but fireworks, felt nothing but fireworks and saw nothing but fireworks as Yoko stole the night with the siren. The pair didn’t separate.

The sound of clothes unzipping and sheets ruffling soon replaced with the sounds of soft moans filling the room. Both girls explored the other, their nails leaving unwashable marks, their teeth left unhideable marks and their lips left unforgettable marks.

It was perfect, Divina loved every second of it. The night wasn’t stolen, it was shared.

They shared the best night of their lives. No lust not yet, just love. And a lot of it.

Morning came just as fast as night left. Divina awoke first, arm on her face she sniffed for a few seconds, she blinked, lifting up her arm before smiling to herself.

Cause for once she stole something from Yoko.

She was draped in the heavy scent of dark wood and almonds, and she not only loved it but adored it, cherished it and knew she’d forever worship it.
