Work Text:
It wasn’t like Haruichi came into this with any ulterior motives or anything.
He had really wanted to help Eijun study. What kind of best friend/boyfriend would he be if he didn’t help Eijun every once in a while. He was having trouble in English and Haruichi was one of the best in their year, so this sort of study date was bound to happen eventually. And that was all it was supposed to be—an innocent study date.
That all changed when Eijun opened the door for Haruichi and smiled at him, his smile as beautiful and wide as ever, which was not what actually got to Haruichi. No, what changed the mood was the fact that Eijun skin looked lovely and a little bit red like he was flushed. His hair was damp and bath water dripped from the ends of his hair onto the towel he had draped over his shoulders and he just smelled so nice. And to top it all off, aside from the two of them, the Eijun’s dorm room was absolutely empty.
That was when Haruichi knew that it was going to be a particularly distracting night for him.
He just wanted a kiss. That was all. Maybe two. Or three. Actually, a make out session was preferable.
“I got it!” Eijun said, snapping Haruichi back to reality and yanking his gaze from Eijun’s pretty pink lips.
Haruichi only peeked at the paper momentarily before giving Eijun a kind and innocent smile. “Good job, Eijun-kun,” he said. How could he do this subtly enough to be natural, but overt enough for Eijun to know that he wanted to make out…?
Eijun beamed, puffing out his chest as he pumped his fist into the air. “Next one!” he cheered, moving on with a diligent expression.
How cute. Haruichi had to have him immediately.
“Eijun-kun,” Haruichi began and Eijun looked up at him with his confused puppy look. “You’ve been working pretty hard, why don’t we take a break?”
Eijun shook his head adamantly and Haruichi resisted the urge to pout. “No way! You made me swear that I would focus on studying this week and I’m a man who would never back out of a promise!”
Haruichi cursed his past self. He should have seen this coming.
“You’ve studied all week already, I’m sure that’s enough to fulfill the promise,” Haruichi said, shifting his legs underneath him so that he could lean into Eijun’s side. He reached his hand out and curled his fingers over Eijun’s hand. He was pleased when, despite Eijun’s confused look, he gripped Haruichi’s hand back. “Anyway, you can’t study if your brain is worn out,” Haruichi reasoned. He leaned closer so that his chin hoovered over Eijun’s shoulder, their lips just a short distance apart. There was no way Eijun could miss the hint now. “So…”
“You’re after my Smash championship title, aren’t you?”
Eijun’s response threw Haruichi so completely off-guard that Haruichi actually moved back and had to take a second to register what Eijun had just said.
“What?”
Eijun just laughed knowingly and stroked his chin with his free hand like a wise old man, an image Haruichi never thought he’d ever associate with Eijun. “I knew you were acting strange, Harucchi! I should have known you were after my second place ranking and wanted to challenge me! I accept your challenge!“
Haruichi was about five seconds away from screaming but he just shook his head. "What? No, Eijun-kun I don’t want to play Super Smash Bros.”
Eijun’s confused expression returned. “Oh,” he said. “Then… What do you want to do?”
Haruichi took a deep breath. God, Eijun was lucky he was pretty and Haruichi had the patience of a saint.
“Well, Eijun-kun,” Haruichi began slowly, inching forward again. “The room is empty… We’re dating… It’s been a while since we’ve had any alone time.” Eijun still looked confused. “I have lips… You have lips…” he continued, his patience wearing thin and embarrassment starting to finally come to him now that he’s said that out loud.
“So… Did you want to do batting practice?” Eijun tried again.
Haruichi huffed, pushing aside his embarrassment and the warmth he could feel blooming on his cheeks. Direct approach it is then.
Before Haruichi could second guess himself, he threw his legs over Eijun’s, putting himself between Eijun and his homework and watching as Eijun’s big brown eyes grew wide. Haruichi was beginning to feel flustered again by his own actions, but threw his arms around Eijun’s shoulders in spite of himself.
“Eijun-kun, I want to make out right now,” Haruichi blurted out.
His embarrassment only increased as he watched Eijun’s expression morph from surprise to genuine glee. Eijun settled his hands on Haruichi’s waist and smiled brightly.
“Oh! If you wanted to kiss why didn’t you say so? I–”
Before Eijun could finish his sentence they were interrupted by the loud slam of the door being thrown open.
“Hey, Sawamura! Clear out–me and Ryou-san are gonna–”
Haruichi looked up and Eijun turned his head to see Kuramochi and Ryousuke standing in the doorway. Kuramochi’s hand was still on the doorknob and Ryousuke wasn’t smiling.
“Onii-san,” Eijun said in a terrified whisper, his face going pale.
“Haruichi,” Ryousuke said. His lips began curling into a smile and the temperature in the room seemed to drop as he stepped forward. “Sawamura–”
“You-san!” Haruichi said, looking at Kuramochi desperately.
Kuramochi closed his eyes. “God dammit,” he said, slamming the door closed before Ryousuke could get in. Haruichi could hear the talking and scuffling outside the door. It was muffled, but he was sure Ryousuke was reprimanding Kuramochi right now. Haruichi made a mental note later to thank him for his noble sacrifice.
However, for now, Haruichi turned back to Eijun with a smile. “Should we get back to business then?” he asked casually as if they weren’t just interrupted by Haruichi’s protective and terrifying big brother.
Eijun looked unsure. “Won’t Onii-san be mad if…”
“It’s ok, I’ll talk to him later.”
“Are you sure?”
“Of course,” Haruichi said. “After all, we’re just having an innocent study date.” And with that, Haruichi leaned forward and claimed the prize he deserved.
