“When you build our house, can it be next to the sea? Like, right next to it?”
Minho had his head resting in Gally’s lap and he stared up at the taller boy curiously.
Opening his eyes groggily, Gally squinted down at him, “I don’t see why not.” He began sifting his fingers through Minho’s hair again, just like he had before he’d fallen asleep a minute or two ago.
“Nice.” Minho flicked his gaze from Gally to the tree branches above them. The dappled, midday sun glinted through the entourage of leaves, all rustling in the cool breeze.
He yawned, stretching his arms the best he could in his position, “I’d like a window facing the sea too.”
Gally realised Minho was talking to him again and attempted to snap out of his tired daze, “Oh really.”
“Yeah, so I could open it up every morning and feel the salty wind wash over me.”
“Or, you could go outside.”
Jutting his lower lip out, Minho rolled onto his side, “You’re no fun, stop being boring.”
Gally continued combing his hair mindlessly, “No, I’m practical. Not boring.”
Rolling hills tumbled out around them, and the Safe Haven looked miniature from where they were sitting. The endless ocean spread beyond the settlement, the deep blue rolling for as far as the eye could see.
“If we don’t have a window, can we get a porch?”
“A porch huh?”
“A porch. Facing the sea. We could set down some little chairs out there too.”
“Sure.”
Minho carved out the silhouette of the grassy moors with his eyes, “Will we have space for a garden?”
Gally sniffed, leaning his head back against the tree behind him, “I mean, if you want to be right beside the sea, then probably. Everyone else is settling down further inland.”
There was a peaceful quiet for a while, until Minho spoke again, “Will we be able to get a pet?”
With a snort, Gally tugged at his hair jokingly, “If you can find one, be my guest. But I don’t think there’s many cats and dogs roaming around the place.”
“A seagull.”
“..A what?”
“Seagull.” Minho grinned. As if one cue, one of the feathery creatures screeched overhead, soaring down towards the sea.
Even though he couldn’t see him, Minho could practically feel Gally rolling his eyes, “Absolutely not.”
“Why?” Minho grumbled, crossing his arms.
Gally put a gentle hand on his shoulder and turned him onto his back, “Because I said so.”
Minho tried to scowl up at him, but couldn’t hold back a smile. “That’s not stopping me.”
“If you bring a shucking seagull into the house I’m building, then your days will be numbered.”
“Tch, you sound like Jorge right now.”
With a tight frown, Gally retracted his hands from Minho’s hair, “Say that again. I dare you.”
Minho propped himself up slightly, resting against Gally’s knee, “You. Sound. Like. Jorge.”
“Right listen here you, shuckface.” Gally sneered, prodding his finger at Minho’s chest, “Unless you’re up for moving around a few bricks, a seagull is not staying in our house. End of-“
Shamelessly, Minho put his hand underneath Gally’s and pulled it up towards his face, planting a sweet kiss on the back of it.
Gally stumbled over his words, watching Minho’s lips meet his knuckles. Minho kept his face down but lifted his eyes, smirking, “You were saying?”
Spluttering slightly, Gally hissed out a, “Fuck you..”, but he was a blushing mess. Him and Minho had kissed before, many times, but he hated getting caught off guard when they did.
“You look stupid.” Minho interlocked their fingers, and sat fully upright, moving his torso closer to Gally.
Despite not being too pleased, Gally let him and even smiled again, “Says you, slinthead.”
