While Hanbin wouldn't consider himself someone with a large following, he was certainly known in the fansite corner of his fandom. For good reason at that—outside of running a successful and well organised fansite, he was quite known for the photos he posted.
Said photos were not just pictures captured on a dinky camera. Every photo posted was an art piece meticulously crafted from the lens of Hanbin’s camera all the way to the cheap editing software he’d made bend to his wishes.
What started off as a hobby soon turned into a passion. All the effort he put in was to show others what he saw when he watched the artist Jaehyun of NCT perform. Not only did the man sing and dance, but he captured his audience and Hanbin’s attention.
Having already had a knack for photography as a freelance photographer, it wasn't a hard decision to pick up this side passion of his. It was the interactions and the community he built that came as a surprise, but a welcomed one nonetheless. Seeing his work appreciated and fawned after gave him a great sense of satisfaction, even though others more often than not dumbed his photos down to just seeing Jaehyun's handsome face.
Looks aside, Jaehun had an aura to him that was inspirational. Not only was he a great singer and dancer but he was also a natural star in Hanbin's eyes. He was charismatic in the best way, never bordering on cocky but always confident. When Hanbin was younger and wanted to be an idol, Jaehyun was someone who he aspired to be like. Now, being able to capture the moments where he took to the spotlight like fish in water was the highlight of Hanbin's hobby. Still, even if others only saw the visuals Jaehyun had to offer, the recognition was always a bonus.
Sighing, Hanbin locked his phone, putting it away as he checked that his camera was prepped for when Nct came out to perform. The rehearsals just gave a small taste of what was to come.
“H-hi sorry to bother?” A finger tapped him on his shoulder.
Pivoting, Hanbin came face to face with a young lady in a pale green sun dress, wrists decorated with many accessories and beaded bracelets. Standing next to each other, Hanbin looked like her polar opposite dressed in a full black outfit.
“Hello,” he answered back politely.
“Are you Starsung on Twitter?” The girl asked, her voice rising slightly as she moved to fidget with the multitude of bracelets on her hand.
Hanbin took a moment to process the girl’s question; he honestly hadn't expected to suddenly be recognized randomly, seeing as he's never posted himself on his account before. Sensing his apprehension, the girl explained.
“Your recent tweet kinda gave it away, the angle of the photo plus I noticed you're kinda the only one in our section with like a high-tech camera.” She seemed anxious, shifting under Hanbin's confused expression. Looking around, Hanbin noted that her last observation seemed to be true.
Smiling, he nodded. “Yes, I run that account.”
The girl squealed, drawing a flinch from Hanbin at the sudden noise. “You don't have to say yes but can I take a photo with you?! You're so handsome!” A few heads turned their way. Hanbin feels a flush rise up the back of his neck at the sudden attention.
“Ah yes, that wouldn't be a problem.” He was beginning to feel awkward at the sudden request, but truly he found it flattering that she wanted a photo with him.
They posed together for a selfie, counting down as they took multiple photos until they were both satisfied with the outcome. Hanbin was internally grateful that he chose to style his hair today.
With a bracelet in Hanbin's possession and his permission to post their photos in hers, they parted ways. Hanbin was left to turn the interaction over in his head. Although it was a little random having someone come up to him because they recognised his twitter account, it had reminded him of how the juniors at his old dance studio would approach him.
Leaving thoughts of the interaction behind, Hanbin double checked his camera. The lights were starting to dim, meaning that it wouldn’t be long before the stage started, and Hanbin was sure he was going to capture the perfect moment for Jaehyun on stage.

________
To say that his photo had blown up was a complete understatement. His initial one thousand followers had shot up overnight to a whopping ten thousand, and was still on the rise. It wasn't long before his dms had to be closed and his notifications turned off.
The attention was overwhelming, between the odd and downright dirty messages to the harmless yet expectant comments, Hanbin felt himself hesitate to show any signs that he was online.
Things persisted like this for a few days, but just as the attention started to die down somehow his instagram was found, and just like that, more fuel was added to the fire. For the sake of his own privacy and mental being, Hanbin made the choice to deactivate his accounts, cutting off any access those on the internet had to him.
That was just one decision of many that changed the trajectory of his life.
To be Seen through the eyes of a Poet

Each photo you capture sings out hundreds of words that perfectly immortalises one captured moment, bringing out the true beauty of these images. To be seen through your eyes must mean to be seen wholly and in truth. I find myself wanting to be captured through your lenses, memorialised in your work. Would you do me the honour of experiencing your passion?
You may or may not know me, but my name is Zhang Hao. I’m a solo artist with an album coming out soon, and I think you would work well with me. I can only hope to hear back good news.
______
Hanbin blinked, gaze fixed on the email in his inbox. The words seemed farther away the longer he stared at it.
He had just gotten back home and decided to go through his personal email to check if any job offers came through or if there was a delivery update on his most recent album order. What he found was something much greater.
A short paragraph of someone's thoughts of his work along with a proposal. Reading the words that the other person used to describe his passion, Hanbin couldn't help but to feel seen, to feel like his thoughts were truly out in the open.
Maybe this is what he’d been hoping to happen when he initially posted his photos online. He had felt disappointed that his message was lost on others, and then felt bad for being ungrateful and unreasonable. But now, seeing that his message wasn't a lost one and there was someone out there who understood him, he felt something stir. Zhang Hao. Hanbin wanted to throw precaution aside and dive head first into this person.
However he had to use some form of precaution, it wasn't too long ago that he had a good amount of people looking into him, some going as far as to attempt to dox him.
Closing his laptop, Hanbin paced around for a bit. He would need advice before deciding how to deal with this. Pulling out his phone, he sent out a quick text.
But for the time being, why not look into Zhang Hao.
Zhang Hao (Chinese: 章昊; pinyin: Zhāng Hào; Korean: 장하오; born July 25, 2000 MBTI; ISFP) is a Chinese singer based in South Korea and signed under Yuehua Entertainment. He first appeared to the public in the reality competition show Boys Universe however was dropped from the line-up during the finale, leading to the M748 incident that same day. He is noted as the first foreigner in history to maintain first position up until the finals of a South Korean idol survival show.
Reading through the wiki Hanbin was struck by how beautiful the man was, with high cheekbones, full lips and a beautifully sculpted nose he had eyes Hanbin wouldn't mind getting lost in… ahem . His name also suited him. Despite being a solo artist, he was an introvert. He was also only a year older than Hanbin and seemed to have just debuted about a year ago.
Hanbin was familiar enough with what Yuehua and Boys Universe was, admittedly enough he hadn't actually watched the show. Zhang Hao, had not only competed but he had maintained first position up until the finals, the same day that something called the M748 incident had happened. That was the next thing Hanbin found himself looking into.

[M748 incident] A Guide On How to Fuck Over Your Own Show + The Aftermath
I need everyone to first imagine that you're the director of one of the most anticipated shows. A show that's going to revive the survival show genre and build the path for how fans are going to expect their opinions and voices to be treated.
You hold auditions, pick your trainees, and filming starts. But wait!! Before a single episode can air the cards are in the viewers hands ofc. So you decide to hold a vote… On visuals…
And before the first episode airs, bye bye to any potential talent. Maybe have better visuals in the next life. I mean how can you be an idol if you don't let your worth be decided upon by one inaccurate photo…..
Anywayssss now the show is filming, the votes continue, the edits are evil and the views are high. Despite the cluster fuck you have on your hands, your show continues to be on the rise. Oh and yeah you notice that a certain trainee is popular but who cares, let’s push others instead. The reason? Uhh you’re the director, do you really need one :PPPPPPP
Nowwww onto the final votes. The stands are packs, and huh, even though the show’s theme consists of blue and red there’s a lot of pink in the stands. Huh, must be a trick of the eye. Anyways, up until now the votes have been up to the viewers to make up the eight member group. Place eight through three has already been called. And out of the handful of trainees three are called to be nominees for first ,second and ninth place. Ninth place of course being there to build up hope and then crush the soul of that poor individual.
And so now the anticipation is up. And hey, while tension rises,it’s the perfect time to announce that as the director, you and five panel members will vote on who you want to debut. Not only that, but your votes will make up 50% of the voting results. Wait, is that unfair?? Who cares lol certainly not you:D
And with that, you ignore the outrage you get and first vote who will be ninth. And hey, that G trainee, who consistently was first not only in the voting but also on the missions, yeah him with the most banners in the crowd, and who may or may not be the cause of the pink sea in the stands. Yeah, let's have that one go home.
Now let’s see who will be first and se- wait whats this? Outraged fans are yelling curses, some are starting to leave, and others on the floor are pushing against the barrier. Things are being thrown, fights are breaking out, and oh now you must turn tail like the coward you are and hide backstage. The confusion lasts for a good hour, ambulances are called—luckily only for minor injuries and a few cases of fainting.
The livestream is circulated and the footage goes viral. You announce position one and two online, not only doubling down, but sealing the nails on your own coffin. So yeah, fuck you and fuck your show ig.
Tldr - Mnet and its directors fucking suck and hao would have debuted had he not been sabotaged.
#ranting my demons away #mnet needs to burn for its crimes against hao #this isnt me talking down to any other trainees #look me in the eyes and tell me hao didnt deserve to debut ifuckingdareyou #zhang hao #BU #boys universe

I love how this explains everything yet still there can never be a true explanation for why hao didnt debut🤔
firstdefenceline
@Silent_fall If i say why he didnt debut thats gonna make a few people mad so ill keep my insight to myself hahah
hearttoheart
This whole situation is unfair to the other parties involved. The debut lineup is getting hate for simply debuting and hao is getting hate for literally no reason? People are acting like he should control how fans act when even he himself was stunned. The poor boy accepted ninth place with way more grace that it deserved and even thanked those around him, but because he cried he is being treated like a villain.
Hanbin found himself deep into the rabbit hole that was M784, his concern growing the more he learned how much Hao suffered due to others’ actions. The funeral wreaths outside of his company with his name on it, the countless of apologies he was made to give out, and the ridicule and scrutiny he faced almost daily during the height of this situation. With all of this, he stayed resilient and steadfast.
From what Hanbin could see, just six months after that day, and two months after the debut lineup made their debut, Zhang Hao's company announced preparation for his solo debut. After that the apologies stopped. Hanbin wasn't sure what happened behind the scenes but Hao began to stand up for himself. Maybe seeing those in favour of his debut gave him the backing he needed.
Someone under his Instagram had commented ‘I wouldn't be able to face my fans after all of that. Hao’s witty reply followed: ‘They are my fans, if I can’t turn to them, who can I turn to? Certainly not youㅋㅋ.”The support that followed him was immense.
Through all of the research Hanbin did, nothing contradicted Hao’s star power. His voice moved the hearts of those who listened, his gaze steady and sure, and he was the kind of person that made people want to go to war for him–which was something his fans were known for. Rosens, a play on the word rosin and rose, were the cavalry that kept Hao afloat in the sea of haters that seemed to follow his debut.
Zhang Hao was someone Hanbin could see himself working with. He was beautiful, awe inspiring, and most of all his eyes–they alone held many stories that needed to be brought to light.
Turning back to his laptop, Hanbin reread the inbox he received. He bit his lip. What if this wasn't actually Hao? What if this was someone who was trying to make a fool out of him?
But then again, this email was only tied to his photography account on Instagram. This account was made well before his twitter account and only featured some of the work he did either at a friend's wedding or a still photo taken when inspiration had struck. Still, no one knew that it was connected to him. Hell, looking back, Hao hadn't even mentioned Hanbin's name. Groaning, Hanbin shut his laptop.

Feeling both relieved at Mathew’s playful reassurance and a little silly for over reacting, Hanbin’s decision was now made. He would message back who he hoped was Hao, what's the worst that could happen?

Before he could think on it any harder, his inbox pinged. He felt his heart skip a beat at the quick response, only to then be confused by the message he received.

Hanbin slumped forward, the tension leaving his body. Decidedly, he went to bed early. This whole thing had proven to have him way in over his head.
Sighing, he shut his laptop.
That night, he drifted off, unaware of the message he would receive at day break.

___________________________
Hanbin could almost say that he regretted accepting this job. The venue was hot, the crowd was a little too antsy for his liking, and he swore if someone bumped into him one more time, he was going to scream. Which may have been an overreaction, but he couldn’t help but to feel nervous.
Not only was this a job he was being paid to do, but this was something that had to come out perfect for his pride's sake. What if Hao's expectations for him fell flat, how would he ever recover from that?
He’d prepared the night before to make sure everything went smoothly. Extra batteries, a spare lens, micro fiber cloth, a few color filters–you name it, he had it. He even took a few test photos beforehand to make sure his camera settings, which he hadn't touched since he first got this camera, hadn't suddenly changed.
He breathed out a sigh, calming himself. Hao would be performing a special stage with his violin instead of a few songs from his current album. There were a few artists that should be coming out before Zhang Hao, and according to the schedule he was sent, after the encore where all the artists gathered back onstage to wave at fans, he could leave. There was no use sticking around for Hao’s hi-touch, they didn't want him getting that close to him yet.
Instead, they had him set up on the floor stage, close enough that he didn't have to zoom too far to see the other, yet far enough that he had a good view of the entire stage. He was at the back portion of the barricades.
Hopefully as performances started everyone would push to the front. Leaving Hanbin with ample space to maneuver freely.
As if hearing his thoughts, the lights started to shift. Cheers first started as the MCs arrived, a pair of third gen idols, welcoming everyone before eventually introducing the first act. Just as Hanbin had expected, people were slowly inching forward and by the time the second group was on, there was a noticeable ring of empty space at the back of the barricades.
There were a few other acts that went up, 2 boy groups, a girl group, and a trot singer. Hanbin switched between nodding along to the beat and fiddling with his camera to quell his nerves. He knew that once he got into the zone things would for sure run smoothly; he just had to find a way to get there.
The trot singer's vocals faded, and Hanbin heard a few genuine sobs coming from a group of older women sitting in the stands behind the floor. His attention stayed on the stage, and he readied his camera as Zhang Hao's performance began.
There was a lift raising him up from the floor, a light layer of smoke coating the floor of the stage. Zhang Hao was dressed in a white suit with intricate cuts and details sewn on. He looked like a prince that came straight out of those movies Hanbin’s sister watched. His eyes were closed, expression peaceful as he stood with his head slightly tilted down, yet his violin held firmly in place. The sound of his camera shutters seemed too loud all of a sudden, its chatter slicing through the suspense that had begun to build up.
When Zhang Hao performed, it was as if the world came to a stand still, and he was the center of it. He sang no words, yet the sounds that he produced with his violin had many enraptured. The notes were like a siren's call, the audience turned into a mass of sailors, lulled into the arms of the soft tunes spread out into the air. Every movement spoke of years of dedication to his art, of effort but into perfecting his craft. The back up dancers only served to fill up the stage physically–Zhang Hao's aura alone took up all of it.
And then he opened his eyes.
Maybe it was due to Hanbin's position, but it was as if Hao was looking straight at him as he played, his gaze focused and demanding. ‘Look at me’ those eyes seemed to say, ‘Look and me and witness how great I can be.’
Hanbin felt entranced as he took photos. Without even having to look at them he knew he'd have to choose which ones to part with and would have a difficult time choosing.
Zhang Hao's back was now to him as he followed the broadcasts live camera, reminding Hanbin that Hao wasn't just on stage for his camera. He had the whole audience following his every move.
“Wow, he's really good!” Hanbin heard from the same group of women and had to hold back a scoff. The trot performance had tears in their eyes yet the only comment for Hao's performance was that he was ‘good’?
Good couldn't even begin to describe Hao, Hanbin couldn't even think of a single word that could describe the emotions that Hao's performance brought out in him.
Abandoning that train of thought, Hanbin zoned back in as Hao turned back to face him. His performance hit its climax. Evident in the surge in the music, Hao's fingers were quick and nimble as they danced across the strings. He looked like a dream, even as sweat beaded at his temples, he wore this small charming smile on his face that tied into the air of effortlessness around him.
And like the tide, as quick as he came, he was gone. The same lift that raised him onto the stage took him off of it. Hanbin's camera felt heavy as he dropped his hand down to his side. The cheers around him were way louder than his own thoughts.
The other performances passed by in a blur, Hao's melody was still heavy on the back of his mind.
It wasn't long before the artist encore stage began, and the energy in the air was at an all-time high.
He watched as Hao walked around, waving into the crowd, completing hand hearts, and giving any other interaction he could. Hanbin snapped more photos the closer he came.
There was a banner in Hanbin's line of sight, not enough to block his vision, but in just the right position that when Hao read the sign then winked, Hanbin was able to capture it perfectly. The boy bunched his cheeks, and his other eye looked as if it wanted to close as well. Unable to help himself, Hanbin immediately checked the photo. Just as he expected, the picture was adorable. He felt his neck flush.
Looking back up, Hanbin let out a disappointed sound as he realized Zhang Hao was already down the stage. Seeing no point in capturing his retreating form, Hanbin prepared to leave.
On his way home, Hanbin found himself humming the tune of the song Hao had performed, fingers tapping against the wheel of his car. The melody was catchy enough that it was stuck in Hanbin's head like stubborn lint.
Even after he was settled in his home, a towel wrapped around his neck as he let his hair air dry after showering, Hanbin went to search up Hao's performance from earlier today.
There was a video up on Youtube of his section of the performance, replay after replay, Hanbin had gotten himself hooked onto the video. There was something so satisfying about the smile that Hao had slipped into during his performance, and the way he swayed with the rhythm of his violin.
Hanbin was soon sucked into the black hole that was Hao's performance history, from music videos, to live performances, and even videos of him as a Boys Universe Trainee. The content was never ending despite him just being a year into his debut, and Hanbin found himself wondering just how much free time the other had.
Still, that just reminded Hanbin how persistent the other was, which obviously showed in the quality of his work. If Hanbin had to choose his favourite performances, they would have to be between tonight's violin instrumental and the star test Hao did during Boys Universe, His “Kill This Love” performance.
Rubbing at his eyes, Hanbin closed Youtube, having procrastinated having to edit and then choose with photos to edit and post. He was supposed to make his first post the same day of his performance in order to get as much attention as possible. Looking at the time he estimated that about now was a good time to start.

Overnight, Hanbin gained just under seven hundred followers, which was to be expected seeing as it was his first post to a fairly new account. There were a few quotes to his tweet pointing out details in his editing that made Hao the focus of the image, but for the most part everything was standard. He wondered how long his account would last in the fandom space, the concept they were having him push would only serve to become more unhinged as time passed.
_____________
After seeing his first paycheck hit his account, Hanbin had no complaints about being at another concert. That and the fact that he had some interest in seeing what song the other would perform this time. He hoped it was ‘Always,’ the same violin instrumental that went viral just one performance ago.
This concert was a small one compared to the booked out stands of the last one. It was a smaller venue just for Hao and his fans.
The crowd was made up of about five hundred people, and the air buzzed as fans talked among each other. There, of course, was an mc on stage who would moderate the event, and Hao was still not on stage yet.
While the last few people were being organized into their designated seating, Hao had peeked his head out from the curtains a few times, making silly faces as he did. Hanbin was quick to capture the moment.
His task was the same as the previous times, he just had to take photos of Hao that were eye-catching. Personally, Hanbin thought any photo of Hao found online would fall into that category, but he digressed.
This concert would be the final one before Hao fully got into promoting his soon to be released album. The album’s visuals needed Hanbin to capture Hao in his ‘true’ form, which was honestly vague but Hanbin understood what the company or Hao meant. To be able to capture moments that showed more that could be seen in a quick second, immortalizing a passing moment and bringing it to life. Wasn’t that what it meant to truly see someone?
Hanbin was confident in his skills and seeing how his previous photos of Hao came out, he was sure Hao was the perfect muse for a project like this—his eyes, the micro-expressions he made, they told so many stories.
Today, Hanbin had to find said stories and bring them to life for current and potential fans to fall in love with.
The mc began to quell the crowd, bringing the room to order as she welcomed them. Not much of an introduction was needed for Zhang Hao seeing as he was the only act; however the applause and cheers were still deafening as he rushed onto stage. There was a shy smile on his face as he came up—Hanbin’s camera wasn’t the only shutter to go off.
Hao seemed to be fully in his element as he went through his introductions and small talk with the host and fans. A few people called out to him despite the unspoken silence in the crowd, which drew a delighted laugh out of the man.
It was evident that he loved the different personalities he got to interact with, despite being an introvert, he was a true performer.
After a few opening statements, Hao was given a clip on mic and guitar. An acoustic version of “Always” was prepared for today’s show.
Charming wasn't even close to the right word. How could someone look so good basically busking in front of velvet curtains? His face was concentrated as he sang, hitting a high note before pausing, looking into the crowd before continuing the slow melody.
Although Hanbin wasn’t the only one taking photos, seeing that he was set up in the best possible position, he was sure his would come out the best.
The final notes of the song ended and Hao smiled, bowing and thanking the crowd as everyone cheered. Hanbin found himself smiling as well, something about the joy on Hao’s face was contagious.
The MC came back on stage and once again got the crowd to give another round of well deserved applause for Hao.
“Well Hao, this was kept a secret but we had fans send in a few song requests, and we’re going to have you do a dance relay battle,” the MC chimed, tossing a hand up in excitement.
Hao seemed confused, his head tilting as he brought his hand mic up to his mouth. “Dance relay? With who?” There were murmurs of excitement starting up.
“Well-” the Mc drawed out squinting dramatically “Against your fans, of course!" And as if on cue, a screen lit up to the left of Hao showing a recorded view of fans.
“And as a little bit of incentive, if Hao wins he gets to ask for a wish that the fans have to follow.” She winked, “And if the fans win, we have a pre chosen wish for fans, that Hao will have to follow.”
The energy in the room increased after the announcement, and despite favor being tipped against Hao, he still looked excited to play. A space was cleared, and everyone was informed that random songs would play, and between Hao and a fan, a winner would be decided by the MC, who playfully saluted while promising to be unbiased.
The first song played and Hanbin felt a sense of deja vu as Hao began to dance to “Kill This Love,” memories of a rewatched video also played in his head at the same time. Compared to the old performance the Hao was more refined, his movements effort less with practiced ease. That round Hao won after the fan forgot the last few moves, and Hao made a half heart with the screen version of the fan as a participation prize of sorts.
Next was Hao’s song “I Wanna Know,” and with the simplistic yet rhythmic moves that round ended in a tie. Another hand heart was made.
The third song was “Miniskirt” by AOA, and despite being a self proclaimed girl group expert Hao was outdone by a flamboyant fanboy in mini shorts. Hao, of course, took the loss as expected, falling to his knees and clawing dramatically at the floor. Snorting Hanbin took a photo even though he was sure this one wasn't going to be one he posted. Hao and the fanboy did matching poses instead of a simple hand heart.
The next song was an NCTsong, specifically a subunit song: Perfume.
Hanbin felt his heart stutter as the familiar music started up Jaehyun's infamous part playing, Hao immediately jumped into action, his moves clean and precise, a smug smile on his face. The roll of his hips was sinful and before Hanbin knew it the song had passed without him having taken any photos, his mouth agape. The memory of the sultry expression Zhang Hao had was tucked safely into the back of his mind.
Hao had won that round, the fan giving up half way to gawk at Hao instead. Hanbin couldn't blame her honestly, and judging by her smile as they posed together, she didn't mind the loss either.
A few more rounds passed before ultimately, it ended in a tie. And so by the MC's words, both parties' wishes would have to be completed.
When asked, Hao’s wish was simple, “I can only wish for my Rosens continued support. It's you all that give me the power to keep showing the best side of me. Under your care, I hope to grow.” He finished with a bow. This was met with agreement and a chorus of ‘Awws.’ The MC was holding her chest, commenting on how much love there was between Hao and his fans.
A complete turn from Hao’s solemn request, the MC announced that the fans won a Q&A session. “Under your chairs you will see a sticky tab attached with a pen. Write down your questions, and we will have a representative go around and collect both items. Please be sure to write legibly for Hao, who in the meantime will be changing into a new outfit, as immediately afterwards we will have a performance.” She gestured to Hao who waved as he made his way down the stage,
“Ohh- excited aren't we? Well, let the questions commence. Five minutes on the clocks everyone!”
Discussions broke out as people decided what they would ask. Against his better judgement,Hanbin found himself scribbling down a question on the blue paper he was presented with.
A few short minutes passed, and the pens and papers were collected before everything was compiled into a large basket.
"Wow this is a lot! Lets hope Hao doesn't fall in, he's only like four apples tall right?” The short statured MC joked, drawing out a few laughs.
“Hey-” Zhang Hao whined, walking back onto stage. “You guys don't know me at all! Don't you know I’m five apples tall?” He pouted. Hanbin's camera quickly captured the playful moment.
“Ah well Mr. Five Apples tall, I hope that doesn't affect the amount of questions you can answer.” The basket was presented and the questions began.
What's a genre that you haven't tried that you want to try?
“Definitely RnB, im still going to get that collaboration with The Weekend-sunbaenim. It’s only a matter of time before he answers me.” Hao winked and giggles rushed through the room.
What is something that fans misunderstand?
This had him pausing to think. His head is tilted as he ponders aloud, “Maybe that my social battery is easily drained? But honestly it depends on the situation. Like now with you guys I think I can stay at 100% forever.” He smiles brightly, flexing his bicep, and Hanbin is sure the girl next to him just fainted.
A few more questions passed like this, and Hao's replies remained perfect. However, there were two that stood out towards the end.
Other than your fans, what inspires you?
It was a straightforward question but the answer Hao gave was unnaturally lacklustre and vague. “I want to discover something about myself that can only be seen by others.” He shrugged with a smile, and the MC pushed through the hushed confusion, whispering into the mic that Hao had a mysterious side.
That brought about another round of laughter, but Hanbin couldn’t help but remember that look. When he looked back at the photo he snapped, the look on Hao's face could only be described as lost, not in the meaning of having no sense of direction, but lost in a way that he looked like he was waiting to be found. Hao honestly reminded Hanbin of himself in a way.
What does it mean for someone to really see you?
That was Hanbin's note, he felt a flush rise on his neck as Hao read it aloud. The question now felt silly but in that moment it was the most pressing question on his mind. Hao looked at the note and smiled, Hanbin's finger miss clicked, causing a rapid succession of photos to shoot off loudly. Hao's gaze was now in his direction and it was intense.
“For me to be seen is to be immortalised.” his stare feels heavy, before he blinks and the look is gone. “Which of course is why I depend so much on my fans, your support really does keep me going.” His smile is back in full force.
As everyone moves on with the question, Hanbin is stuck in that moment, when it has felt as if only he and Hao were in the room. Rubbing at the back of his neck Hanbin checked his watch, just 30 more minutes until the first day of the venue was over.
Once home Hanbin flopped onto his bed, turning over the events of today in his head. Learning about Hao felt like a one step forwards five steps back kind of situation. There were so many layers to the man.
Looking through his camera Hanbin bit his lip, picking nervously at the dry skin.

The response to Hanbin's photos was mixed. There were those who were struck by the expression on Hao's face, lost in the deep and open emotions, but there were also a portion of individuals that questioned his choice of caption.
Hanbin himself wondered if the Yuehua staff might have had something to say about it, but when he checked his email the following morning he was only met with a deposit receipt for yesterday's work and instruction for what he would be doing today.
“Idol photographers really do make a lot," Hanbin muttered as he checked his bank account to confirm that the money was received.
His routine was simple as he prepared for the day; he would only be there for a few minutes unlike yesterday. He brought his cap and mask with him, something that was mandatory according to the agreement he signed, as well as the equipment he would need.
Today, Hao had a fansign scheduled to take place at noon, and as opposed to the previous day where Hanbin took photos of the event he only had to take photos of the aftermath. After all of the fans had left he would snap a few shots of Hao packing away his gifts. Similar to the other photos he posted on his account, these were meant to grab others' attention.
Arriving at the now closing venue Hanbin met up with the Yuehua correspondent. A young lady with long dark hair wearing casual work attire greeted him. A lanyard around her neck held her staff ID card. Yuna, it read.
“You’re Antonio right?” She asked, with a tilt of her head.
Hanbin blinked, forgetting about the pseudo name he went by. “Yes, that's me.” He bowed, “I’m happy to be working with you today.”
Yuna giggled, tapping Hanbin's shoulder as he rose. “There’s no need to be so formal, I’m only acting as your guide to your set up spot.”
Hanbin rubbed the back of his neck “Still.”
Tucking her hair behind her ears, she laughed again before leading him away. As they walked, they made small talk about her position in the company and how long he'd been doing photography for.
They arrived at the spot, a window from above with a view into the basement level of the venue. He could see Hao packing a few items, gifts from fans, into a box.
“I actually looked at some of your work, and it's really good,” Yuna declared, drawing his attention.
“It's really nothing much,’ Hanbin downplayed, feeling flustered at the sudden praise.
“Aw look at you being all shy,” She teased, tucking her hair behind her ears again.
“No really, anyone could learn,” Hanbin denied, shaking his hands in front of himself.
“So you could teach me then?” she asked, placing her hands on her hips. Hanbin considered. Though he had to learn on his own, the thought of actually teaching someone the skills he had cultivated tugged at an old part of him.
Pushing past his silence, Yuna pulled out a marker, writing on a piece of paper. “You don't have to think about it so hard,” she laughed while handing him the paper. “Take my number and let me know.”
As she slipped it into his hand, suddenly a crash sounded behind them, breaking the moment. Looking back, Hanbin found the source of the noise; Hao was standing in the middle of a mess of items, a fallen box having scattered the objects everywhere.
“Sorry I have to-” He pointed to the scene with his camera.
“Ah ok,” Yuna nodded, “You have my number Antonio, don't lose it.” She winked, walking away and turning the corner.
Putting his attention back onto Hao, Hanbin noticed that he was now kneeling. Picking up the items one by one, his back was turned to Hanbin as he paused to look at each item in hand.
Cursing, he wished they had positioned where he could see the man's face. He wondered what expression the man had on, were his lips down turned into a pout? Or was he wearing a smile that slightly bunched up his cheeks.
From behind Hanbin could only capture the curve of his spine as he picked up each item, the way his fingers stroked the petals of a fake rose he was given.
Each item was placed carefully into the box, nothing was handled harshly. As Hanbin took photos, he wondered if Hao could hear him, if he was putting on an act or was the type of devotion he genuinely held for fans.
When Hao was done packing up the box, he left the room, and Hanbin was left itching for more. Ten minutes hadn't been enough. Retracing his steps, he walked back to the front of the building before entering the lobby. By the time he found the room, any sign of Hao was long gone.
Signing Hanbin sat on the table left at the center of the stage.
“At least I got a few photos,” he muttered, flitting through the photos stored on the camera's sd card. Even without editing, the atmosphere of the photos was solemn and intimate. Hao's back being turned to the camera added a layer of vulnerability he hadn't expected, the 180.5 cm man looked small and holdable.
Shaking his head, Hanbin shut off his camera, packing it into his bag. There was still light left, so he planned to stop at his favourite coffee spot before going home to edit the photos.
That night Hanbin fell into a dream. Not a dream that he could remember vividly, only the feeling it gave him. The sounds of strumming and airy tunes. Colors dancing across his vision, mixing and swirling before they exploded into symphonies, following the rhythm of a song with no name. There was then a calm, blue water washing slowly over pink sand, wading back and forth, pulling and pushing at the sand.

___________
Never let it be said that Hanbin was a morning person.Yes, he was able to get himself up and out of bed earlier than others, but no part of it was enjoyable, and having to wake up early often left him moving at half of his normal speed. The entire process was draining; however, halfway through a cup of americano, Hanbin felt himself finally waking up even after being awake for over an hour.
It was six in the morning, and Hanbin was holding his camera and his second cup of americano, standing in the middle of Seoul's bleak airport. Today, Hao had an early flight to Jeju Island, as unimportant as this may be Hanbin was directed to wait by his departure gate, out of the way and inconspicuous.
He noticed a few fans flitting around at another gate, and initially he assumed that that crowd was for another idol. But after seeing the different variations of pink and Hao pickets, he was sure that they were here for Hao.
Seeing them at a different gate from him, Hanbin wondered if he had the wrong information. Checking his email he saw where it read ‘Gate B8’ which he stood under, not gate B6 which the others were crowded around.
So either some Yuehua employee had sent out the wrong information, or the information for Zhang Hao's flight had been leaked.
Hanbin zoned out, pondering who would be to blame if the photos didn't turn out well today, which is why he hadn't noticed he was being approached until a voice called out behind him.
“Excuse me,” a woman called out hesitantly, and Hanbin flinched, jumping slightly to the side.
Pulling his cap down further, Hanbin moves out of her path.
She followed, “Ah no, sorry I saw you standing here and um.” She fiddled with the Hao picket in her hand, a Rosen was speaking to him. “I actually wanted to ask you something.”
With a sense of deja vu he felt his heart quicken. No way he was being called out so quickly…
“Y-yes” he responded, throat suddenly feeling dry.
“Are you here to see Hao off?” She asked, and Hanbin found himself speechless at how quickly he was found out.
He didn't respond, instead his eyes slid to a group of ladies looking his way, they were watching his and the woman's interaction.
“Me and my friends noticed you here without any luggage and i dont think the gate will be departing any time soon so we just assumed…” She trailed off.
Not wanting to seem like a creep, Hanbin nodded, “Yes I came here to see him off.” he has always been a terrible liar, and under the lady's gaze he had to fight the urge to scratch at the back of his neck.
Said lady lit up once he confirmed her suspicions, “ Omg that's great!”. Hanbin didn't know that people used ‘Omg’ aloud like that.
“We were holding this mini cup sleeve event at this cafe near-by, you should def come!” she fluttered, pulling out a small paper with information printed on it, presumably for the mini cup sleeve event.
Nodding, Hanbin tucked the flyer into his jacket pocket. More people were arriving, he could only hope this conversation could end quickly so he could get back to his preparations.
“Ok then" She continued, taking a step back, “I’ll see you there then!” and with a double thumbs up in Hanbin's direction she joined her group.
It wasn't in his best interest to attend events like this, but of course Hanbin found himself curious about things pertaining to Hao.
Before he could think on it too hard there was a commotion starting, fans had spotted Hao at the entrance.
Watching the man enter Hanbin was shocked to see only two security guards were accompanying him. With the current size of the crowd they would be overwhelmed the moment fans started to get too excited. He took a half step forward then stopped himself, it wouldn't look too good if he suddenly intervened. Biting at his lip he resigned himself to stand off to the side.
Looking into the lens of his camera, Hanbin couldn't get a view of Hao without someone else being in frame, however he continued taking photos hoping to get a good photo. It's better to have something rather than nothing.
All of sudden there was a girl calling out to Hao, calling his name and shouting, she rushed to him. Pushing past the measly guards barrier she was about to enter Hao's space when she tripped. Instead of falling flat on her face Hao caught her by her arm, helping the girl stand upwards.
“Thank you all for coming to see me off but for everyone's safety I think it's best that we give each other some space.” Hao's voice traveled through the small crowd, lightly scolding yet kind. After confirming the girl wasn't hurt made his way to his gate, walking past the stunned girl. Entirely too kind to someone who was about to bombard him.
Like the fabled red sea, the crowd parted as Hao came through, his words taken as law there was no more pushing to get closer to him. Standing near the gate close enough to the now present staff that he wasn't standing out Hanbin took a few photos.
Powerful and commanding. Hao had that effect on others, just by his words the crowd was no longer about to stampede. His walk through the airport wasn't a long one, and as he passed Hanbin instinctively held his breath. Much to his own disappointment Hao hadn't even spared him a glance.
With the crowd now disbursing, Hanbin began to gather himself. His own flight wasn't for another four hours so realistically he had some time to kill. Feeling into his pockets Hanbin pulled out the pamphlet he was given just moments ago.
The cafe they had chosen to gather at was small, the interior pastel and soft with light music adding to the ambiance. There was a group of ten or so people gathered around a few pushed together tables. Based on the various merchandise with Hao on it, that small group seemed to be where the cup sleeve event was happening.
Hesitantly Hanbin stepped closer, unsure of how to introduce himself. Luckily he was saved when the lady who spoke to him earlier noticed him.
“Ah you came!” she called out, waving him over to her table. The other occupants turned to look at him, feeling insecure–Hanbin tugged his cap down before stiffly walking over.
“My name is Rina by the way.” She introduced herself beaming as he sat down. She wasn't paying any mind to his awkwardness, either too polite to mention it or too wrapped up in her own excitement to care.
After Rina introduced herself it was like a chain reaction, the others at the table took turns saying their names before it was Hanbin's turn.
“My name is Antonio” He said, using his photography name. “Nice to meet you all”
Next to him Rina giggles “I think this is the most I've heard you speak.” Shyly Hanbin scratched the nape of his neck.
“Sorry about that..”
“Dont worry, Jaeri here was similar to you, barely said a peep. But now she's completely out of her shell.” Rina leans in to whisper dramatically “She wants to be an idol like Hao.”
The girl across from them , Jaeri, covers her face. She seems to be young, probably still in school.
“An idol like Hao?” Hanbin repeats.
“Yeah I mean I'm pretty sure everyone here looks up to him.” A guy in their group states. Without having to wait on the others' agreement, Hanbin could tell that that was the general consensus.
“Hes just so perfect. “ Rina sighs dreamily.
Jaeri continues "Everything about him is just so honest, I mean he's a total role model for me. Like there was this time I told Hao about how much I was struggling in school and couldn't stop comparing myself to others and he actually helped me.” She looks bright as she talks about the advice Hao gave her, jestering with her hands, her eyes fluttering as if reliving the moment. In response, others at the table had a look of fondness on their face–not at the girl herself but at the stories of Hao's actions.
Once the stories started, they never seemed to end. Each person lit up as they spoke of their experience with Hao, by observation or first hand, it all seemed to make whoever spoke light up.
Sipping on his americano, Hanbin thought of his own experiences with Hao. The man was his muse, to put it simple, and other than that Hanbin hadn't really interacted with him. Despite Hao reaching out to him first.
He wondered which of his work made Hao decide to reach out. If he ever got the chance to introduce himself to the man, how would he react? Would he repeat the words of praise? Ask to see more? Maybe he'd want to learn like that other lady had. Or maybe, maybe he'd asked Hanbin to do a photoshoot for him.
He would make the perfect model. His proportions were exceptional, tall stature, lean body with a smooth skin. He had even more points in the face department, all parts of his face suited him. Eyes, nose, lips, the moles that dotted his face. Hanbin couldn't explain it, however he was sure that these features were perfect for Hao and Hao alone, no other person could look as good with these features.
“I'm so jealous that other girls got to interact with him.” Someone at the end of the table scoffed, slamming a palm onto the table.
“Ha! You call that an interaction? He probably hates her for how she acted.” Another says with a flip of long hair.
“That bitch should have lost a few teeth in that fall. Who does she think she is running up to Hao like that?” Jaeri joins in and Hanbin is officially taken aback. While he shared similar views that the girl passed a lot of boundaries, so was everyone that came to the airport. This conversation seemed hypocritical.
Next to him Rina giggles “Guys~ don’t talk like that.”
Suddenly the shine from earlier is gone and Hanbin feels distinctively like he shouldn't be here. “Excuse me.” he starts to stand.
“Ah you're leaving already?” Rina pouts.
“My flight check in time is soon.” Hanbin says, which wasn’t a total lie. His flight was approaching, but not soon enough that he needed to rush. Either way he'd prefer to leave after feeling the shift in atmosphere, a harsh reminder that the fans he was with weren't normal ones–but ones that felt the need to encroach on Hao's privacy without a second thought on the entitlement of their actions.
Gasping Rina holds onto his sleeve “Where are you traveling?” Her eyes are earnest yet Hanbin has the sense not to say JeJu.
“I'm going Jindo.” He says instead.
Standing with him Rina directs the others to do so as well. “Lets all hurry and take a group photo then!”
“I’d prefer not to have my face on the internet,” Hanbin, wearing a mask and cap, says.
Looking him up and down Rina sighs.”Use this.” She grabs a Hao picket from off of the table.
Hanbin looks at the lace decorated object; Hao's face pasted on the center, and agrees.
With some fuss, they get a few photos taken by the staff, Rina choosing to hang off of Hanbin arm, throwing up a peace sign as he stands stiffly with a picket blocking his face.
“Do you have a twitter account?” Jaeri asks as Rina takes down the accounts of the others, Hanbin shakes his head. Shrugging, Jaeri waves him goodbye as he turns to leave.
His flight was in an hour, that was enough time for him to edit and post the photos but he'd better hurry just in case any other delays arose.

________
On the plane he fell into a dream, back are blue waves and pink sand, colors and sound. Warmth, warmth that seeps into his head and then down to the pits of his stomach. There it churns and bubbles, pokes and prods, searing into the deepest parts of him.
Hanbin flinches awake, his face flushed, breaths coming quick. Looking around he's relieved to note that no one's attention is on him. Everyone else has begun gathering their items to leave the plane. Groaning Hanbin runs a hand over his face. Retrieving his bag off of the floor, he keeps it in his lap until it was his turn to get out of his seat.
Jeju wasn't a place Hanbin visited often. Last time was with his family, a vacation from about eight years ago, the memories now distant. As soon as he exited the airport and took a taxi farther into the island he felt the memories become more vivid.
Attempting to catch fish in cold rivers, visiting one of the many tangerine orchards dotted around the island, tasting random tea leaves with his mother. He'd only be here for the day however he hopes he can do some site-seeing when he gets the chance.
It's nearing 12 by the time Hanbin has arrived at the accommodations provided for him, a room located at a hotel, the same hotel he assumed Hao would be staying at. Not that he was thinking he was going to run into him. Hao had long since started filming according to the schedule.
Hanbin himself had less than an hour to settle down before he had to make his way to the secondary location. They were filming the agriculture section of Jeju, so Hao would be experiencing salt farming, their tea production, and one of their orchards. Hanbin was only needed to be present for the tea production section of filming, which–if he's being honest–would have been the last place he would have chosen to take photos but he’ll work with the time that they gave him.
As if reading his thoughts his phone pingged, drawing his attention.
Staring down at the text he received, Hanbin was puzzled. ‘Hello Antonio, currently the site has an onsite photographer who will be offering his services! As to not cause any confusion we will proceed with the onsite photographer and forward you the photos to edit and post. We apologize sincerely for any confusion. Please feel free to continue enjoying the reservation for today!”
His confusion soon faded as anger set in. Not only was his time wasted but the message sent wasn't a well thought out one. They wanted him to pass off another's work as his own? And ‘feel free to continue enjoying the reservation’? What the hell goes that even mean? Did they think he was going to stay cooped up in the hotel room until it was time to leave?
Hanbin huffs out a sigh, running his hands through his hair. This also meant he wouldn't be seeing Hao. He couldn't help the pang of disappointment that ran through his chest.
Yes he had his opinions on the choice of location but he was up for the challenge. He wanted to see what could be made of a bleak situation, and most of all he wanted to see just how bright Hao could shine in such a mundane area.
Sighing, Hanbin ran a hand through his hair. He’d woken up quite early and could feel the exhaustion creeping up on him. Seeing as he now had a free day, it would do him some good not focus too much on work for now.
Plan now in mind Hanbin made his way to the tangerine farm he had passed on the way to the hotel. The walk down hill wasn't too daunting, the light exercise serving to push away any of the previous fatigue. Instead he felt a sense of nostalgia, the citrus in the air more noticeable as he walked through the gates of the orchard.
Everything had the same familiar air as it did years ago, the soft spoken elderly staff that provided him with a hat and gathering pouch were a reminder of his own gentle spoken mother. Birds were fluttering to and from branches, the same branches that provided shade from the sun above, only allowing for a few patches of light to dance through.
The last time he came here with his family, Hanbin remembers balancing precariously on his dad's shoulders, reaching for the branches. At that age he could have climbed onto one of the short ladders, however at his dads request of ‘for old times sake’ he couldn’t resist the ridiculous and honestly dangerous request. Now he stood tall enough to reach the lower branches, and he doubted he could be lifted onto anyone's shoulders.
Pulling out the camera he brought along Hanbin snapped a few photos as he walked, once back in the hotel he'd send a few to his mother.
As he strolled, camera in hand, Hanbin continued to reminisce, his thoughts only interrupted due to distance chatter.
“I can't believe he caused a fuss like that!” A man hissed.
“Ahh give him a break he was probably having a bad day” A lady called back.
A few trees away a pair stood at the edge of the orchid, their causal office ware standing out in the surrounding greenery.
The man tutted “When I have a bad day I don't uproot my schedule the moment things don't go my way. I act like the adult I am and work professionally."
Barking out a laugh the woman patted his shoulder "You're just saying that because you didn't like the look he gave you.” The man scoffed, twisting out of her hold, she continued “I mean he had a point, if he directly asked for things to be a certain way its a bit underhanded to go behind his back just cause someone wanted to cut back on funds” she drawls in a pointed manner.
Trying to follow their conversation, Hanbin quietly wondered if they were talking about him.
“A photographer is a photographer, why should something like that matter?”
“How would you feel if someone skimped on parts of your proposal for a stage set up, for something as silly as a small payout?”
That seemed to be sufficient confirmation. As far as Hanbin was concerned they were the only filming crew in the area, and seeing as how the duo weren't dressed for picking tangerines he could guess that they were here for more inside work. Yuehua staff most likely.
Feeling silly for eavesdropping from behind a tree, Hanbin retreated, stepping further into the orchid. Was that why they told him to enjoy the hotel? Was he seriously not going to be paid for coming all the way out here? It was now obvious that they were going to treat this like a glorified vacation, to hell with any other plans he may have had.
So far the company has not done anything underhanded but when working with large corporations he hadn't come with the best expectations. Turning the situation over in his head he ultimately decided that this wasn't worth any energy being put into it. If this was going to be turned into a one day free trip, it's best that he enjoys it while it lasts.
Walking past another tree line, Hanbin's steps stutter at the sight before him. He's run into Hao. Hao who was alone, reaching up at a tangerine on a lower branch. His shirt riding up, showing off his lean figure and unblemished skin. He's glowing, pale light falling onto his face as he squinting slightly, his cheeks bunching up, an otherwise pitiful expression on his face as he begins to tug at the suborn fruit.
Unable to help himself, Hanbin brings his camera up to snap a few photos, forgetting how noisy the shutters could be.
Hao startles spinning to face Hanbin, as he turns he trips on his feet–letting out a yelp as he lands on his backside.
Wincing Hanbin rushes to help the fallen man off of the floor. “Ah I'm so sorry, are you alright?” he fusses, reaching out a hand.
Hao hisses, rubbing at his wrist, a pout begins to form at his lips as he looks up at Hanbin, taking the offered hand. And as if buffering the moment he catches sight of Hanbin's face, Hao's expression falls flat, whatever he was beginning to say now stuck in his throat.
Panicking at the others' change in expression, Hanbin quickly ushered Hao to his feet, carrying some of his weight.
Hao–despite their similar height–blinks up at him “You’re- Antonio.” He blurts out, his words more a statement than a question, he glances at the camera in his hand. “Antonio the photographer right?” he questions with a tilt of his head.
Hanbin feels a blush fill his cheeks. It wasn't a surprise for Hao to know that name, for him to know that Hanbin was the one originally supposed to be taking photos of him. But he hadn't expected Hao to recognise him, well recognise him by his photography name that is.
“Yes! I'm so sorry!,” Hanbin stresses, anxiously looking around. There was a bench closeby, without much thought he quickly led Hao to sit.
“Are you alright” he asks “I didn't mean to scare you I was just-I-” and the words fail him. How was he going to explain taking photos of Hao when he hadn't been authorized to?
“I'm alright” Hao smiles lightly, seemingly taking pity on his floundering “You were sent down here to find me weren't you?” Hao asks, and it's an easy out. A simple explanation and a small lie he could easily play off. But in the face of Hao's earnest gaze, soft brown eyes that stared deeply into his own, honestly was the only option in his mind.
“No…” Hanbin says, biting at the inside of his lip, his ears now warm and tingling.
Hao blinks, letting out a laugh of confusion. “Ah-”. Words seem to fail him as well and Hanbin is left to make up for it.
“I- I.” He pauses, instead of trying to explain his reasoning in the moment he forges on “I’m sorry I can delete the photo if you'd like.”
Hao shakes his head “It’s fine” he gives a small smirk “I hope you got my good side after causing me to squish the tangerine I fought hard to get.”
Biting back a reply of Hao having no bad sides or of how all of the man could be considered his good side Hanbin instead reaches for another point, “I have some others if you'd like them.” He opens his tangerine pouch to offer them to him.
“Thanks” Hao says, and he reaches to take one, Hanbin gets a whiff of coconut shampoo and a scent that could only be described as inviting.
Hao leans back, inspecting the tangerine. In one slow movement he lifts it up to his mouth, peel and all, soft lips parting as he makes to bite into it.
Hanbin jerks forward before stopping just short of grabbing his arm “The peel” Hanbin says in confusion. He knew citrus skin could be made into candy, but he couldn't imagine that eating unprocessed and dirty could be tasty.
Looking at his shocked expression Hao laughs, its soft and airy, reminiscent of wind chimes. “My nails are useless so I usually use my teeth” He holds up a hand, palm facing towards himself as he shows off his bitten nails to Hanbin, his cuticles also have some red spots from an obvious nail picking habit. There's a shinchan bandaid on one of his fingers and Hanbin feels a burst of fondness as Hao easily admits to such a standard flaw.
“I can peel it for you.” Hanbin says, holding out a hand. His nails were in better condition and he owed it to Hao after startling him, Hanbin reasoned internally.
Hao mimics his pose with his empty hand “Only if I can see some of the photos you took” He says with a wink. Hanbin fights off a laugh, the wink was more like a squint with Hao's cheeks bunching up cutely.
Despite the deal not being in his favor, Hanbin places the camera into the other man's hands. The tangerine was then given back to him to peel.
As he works away at the skin he's grateful that he'd brought out a fresh memory sim for his walk. While he's proud of his work, he didn't want Hao getting a look at the photos of the airport seeing as he just took the most unprompted photo of the man. He didn't need a reminder of what had transpired just moments ago.
Hao is silent, as he looks through the assortment of photos of the orchard, then at the one of him. “Are you going to post these?” Hao asks, resting the camera on his lap, he faces Hanbin.
Feeling his blush come back full force at the others attention he continues looking at the tangerine, picking off the white pith that clung to the fruit. “I was told that someone already took photos…”
Hao scoffs leaning closer, “These are way better!” He is flicking back through the gallery, “And the other guy got sent home early anyways so I doubt he got any good photos." That's what the staff from before was talking about. Against his better judgment, Hanbin feels a smile make its way onto his face.
He looks at Hao, handing the now thoroughly peeled fruit to him. “You seem very confident in my skills,” He finds himself teasing.
Hao looks down at the fruit, he looks back up at Hanbin, a playful scowl taking over his face. “And you seem very casual.” he pops a slice into his own mouth.
Hanbin's expression falters.
“I'm your hyung aren't I?” Hao continues and Hanbin has to fight back a sigh of relief that he hasn’t over stepped.
“Ah what makes you think you're older?” He questions despite knowing for sure that Hao was the older between the two of them.
“Your employee form,” Hao says with a drawl, eating another slice. “This younger generation.” He tuts in faux disapproval–despite being in the same generation as Hanbinn.
Biting back a smile Hanbin holds up two hands in a pleading position, “I’m sorry hyung I’ll do better.”
Rolling his eyes with full dramatics Hao pouts with a slight quirk of his lip. “You owe me another peeled tangerine” He decides, popping another slice into his mouth.
“Of course” Hanbin agrees and gets to work. Not even halfway through Hao has a slice offered to Hanbin. Without thinking he takes the slice directly from the others’ hand using his mouth.
His lips brush against his fingers and Hanbin jerks back, licking his lips in embarrassment. Hao’s gaze flickers down, eyes going dark.
Feeling shy, Hanbin ducks his head, putting his full attention to peeling the tangerine. No matter how much tension builds he's thorough as he cleans off the remaining pith.
Once done he hands it to Hao, avoiding eye contact.
Huffing out a laugh Hao holds the last slice of his first tangerine out to Hanbin. Meekly Hanbin holds out a hand to take the offered slice.
A smirk bunches up Hao's cheeks, playfully he moves the slice to Hanbin's lips, “Come take, your reward." he teases.
Hanbin digs his nails into his thighs. This was dangerous, “I-” he starts before he's cut off.
“Are you going to deny hyung” and that's all the convincing he needs, like a wet paper towel he floods easily.
He leans closer, lips parting as they brush over the fruit, but before he can take it fully into his mouth Hao is pulling it back and with one smooth motion he quickly pops it into his own mouth. Hanbin's mind blanks, his jaw drooping as he processes the fruit being stolen, basically out of his mouth and into Hao. An indirect kiss.
“Thanks, this was good.” Hao stands with a stretch, ignoring Hanbin's stunned expression. “Let's do this again some other time, yeah?” There's mirth dancing around in his eyes, and without waiting for Hanbin to form any coherent thoughts he's walking away.
Like a dream he's gone, only the memories of him lingering on Hanbin's mind. He drops his face into his hands, groaning loudly as he throws his head back. This is dangerous. Hao is dangerous for his health and sanity.

whats the orange peel theory?
↳Rena @L0VELYHAO
Basically its a trend where you ask your partner to peel an orange for you and based on how they peel it shows the effort they're willing to put in for you. Its stupidly cute!!!
