Work Header

Bit of a hermit.

Summary:

You were very anti-social. Wally kinda liked that.

Work Text:

You didn’t leave your home very often.

It was partly because out of everything out there to do, you prefer drawing over anything else. And unlike many, you didn’t draw still life as you were looking at it. You mainly made up your own scene in your mind from things you’ve already seen in your life. And would draw that instead.

But another part is that you really don’t like speaking with others very much. Before you moved to Home, you would’ve said you down right hated other people all together. Because you grow used to people being cruel. So why bother talking to others, when you knew they’d hate you just for existing?

The other neighbors of Home have always been nice though, and they all try to get you to be more social with everyone. They would always invite you to any and all activities they were up to and planning. Even when they knew very well that you probably wouldn’t want to join in the end. Just being included was nice. And they were very determined to be friends with you.

That being said, while you usually didn’t leave the house. That didn’t mean you wouldn’t answer the door when someone knocked. And Wally specifically, figured out very quickly, that you were far more likely to agree to hang out, if it was something inside your own home.

So Wally would often suggest drawing together, since you both love art. And it was easy to bring his own art supplies into your home. Not that you both didn’t have spare supplies to share with the other, but sometimes it was just easier to draw with your own stuff.

To Wally’s delight, you always agreed. You were going to be creating art either way, so in your mind, why not have Wally’s company at the same time?

And unlike some of the others, Wally never overstayed his welcome. He never crowded you, or would try to stay overnight. So you never felt the need to hesitate hanging out with him. Although he does have a bit of a staring problem, but that wasn't too bad once you got more used to it.

So that's what the two of you were up too right now! You have out your markers, and he brought along his paints. Just creating art in peaceful silence for a while.

You're painfully trying to draw the scene of castle, but as it was going very terribly. You decide to break the quietness as a distraction, before you end up ripping the drawing to shreds.

"What are you painting again?" He did say already, but your memory was awful since coming to Home.

"My muse!" Wally just declares with a grin, pulling his attention towards you.

"Right." Now you raise a brow at him. "So a apple?" Or maybe Home or Barnaby? He have drawn them a lot as well.

"You'll see~" He almost sing songs. Making you chuckle.

"Alright, alright fair enough."

"Are you still working on the castle neighbor?"

You sigh dramatically. "Yes. It's the worst thing I've ever created."

"Ha, Ha, I'm sure it's not that bad." He reassures you with clear fondness.

"Maybe. I might give up on it all together..." You knew the biggest rule of art was to trust the process though...

Wally clearly was about to say something else, but a loud knock ringed out from your door making him stop.

"Great..." You muttered out, getting up to answer it.

You could feel Wally's eyes on your back as you open the door. Revealing Julie and Eddie on the over side.

"Howdy neighbor!" Eddie exclaimed with a grin.

"We were going to play tag! Wanna play with us?" Julie asks with just as big a smile.

"Nah, I'm drawing with Wally." You immediately declined.

Running around just to die from warm? No way.

"Oh! Wally can join too!" Julie declares.

"Yeah! The more the merrier!" Eddie adds.

"No thanks, I don't like leaving a drawing right in the middle of it." Not even a lie, if it wasn't for the fact that were just about to give up on it, not even a moment ago.

"Oh? Well why don't we join you two then?" Julie questions with a hopeful look. Eddie getting the same expression.

Ah, they just wanted to hang out with you? That was sweet, and you hate disappointing the neighbors...

But then you'll really have to be social... with four, they're always going to be some kind of conversation going on...

"I'd rather not. I'm really sorry. I just prefer to draw without a audience." Which is also true, just not the real reason you're saying no.

Eddie raised a brow, and Julie eyes narrowed at you.

"But Wally is still here?" She points out in confusion.

But you don't miss a beat. "What can I say? Wally's my muse." Maybe you should even draw him instead, that'll be way more fun.

The two eyes widened, and you heard Wally make a quiet shocked noise from within the home.

You're not sure if you like the awe that took over both their faces a moment later.

"Oh! I see~" Julie sing songs with a mischievous look. Before pulling Eddie away from the doorway. "We're leave you two to it then!"

Now your eyes narrowed at them as they walked away.

Did you even want to know what that meant?

Nah, you couldn't be bothered.

You closed the door, before turning back towards Wally.

Only for your eyes to widened as you did so. Because now where you stood you could easily see what Wally was painting.

It was clearly you.

You get a grin. "Huh. Am I your muse too Wally?" There's slight amusement in your tone.

There's slight hesitation before he answers. "...Yes." His smile was very soft.

"That's so sweet!" You couldn't help but noticed the soft orange shade around his cheeks now. So cute.

Ignoring the intense stare he now has on you, you go back to your own drawing. Before flipping to a new page, starting to draw him now.

Eventually, Wally got back to his painting as well.

While he would really like you to hang out with the other neighbors more then you did.

He also couldn't help but love how special you always made him feel by only really letting him inside your home. And in turn only really hanging out with him too. Since you never left your home. He loves holding all your attention that you're willing to give out to another.
