Chapter Text
It was finally time. I had somehow convinced my parents to send me across the country to stay at my best friends house the whole school year. This was great news for both of us since we hadn't seen each other in years (well only in summer) and we could finally go to school together again. If said I was excited that was an understatement. We'd be together non-stop all year, how could I not be.
The only concern I had was her friend group. I didn't have a problem with them, quiet the opposite, I thought they were awesome. Well from what she told me. I knew their names and vaguely their faces from blurry pictures. I only really knew Frank, since he was her boyfriend and I've third wheeled them on calls plenty of times. They were all losers, which made plenty of sense since we always were. It was her and Frank who were both sophomores like me, Mikey and Illi who were siblings and Illi had transitioned since she was a freshman and she's now a senor. And finally there was Ray and she was a junior along with Mikey. I had heard the least about Ray but I was both nervous and excited to finally meet all of them.

I wake up on the mattress on the floor next to Ema (my bestie) bed to her alarm which for some reason is King for a Day by Pierce the Veil. I don't mind it since I love that song. It was painful getting up for the first day but a little better with her there.
(I don't wanna like type the whole morning so fast forward we're walking to school together)
"Do you usually walk alone?" I questioned her on our walk as we shared earphones from her IPod she got recently.
"Uh not always sometimes Frank picks me up when he actually gets up early but that's not often," She responds with a light chuckle which I copy.
"Yeah I can imagine.."
"You nervous? Ya know like first day at a new school with new friends.."
"To be honest, yeah a little. But I have you and I'm sure I'll get along great with these new people."
She smiles and sighs a small comfortable laugh, "Trust me you will, there's nothing to worry about"
"I'm just glad to be back with you again." I say looking over and reciprocating the smile.
We soon get to the schools front entrance and she runs up and hugs this girl who I can't make out but I notice her light brown fluffy mess of curls flow on Ema's shoulder. From that I could tell it was Ray. They eventually let go of each other and when Ema rushed back and took my hand pulling me towards her to introduce each other. That's when I truly got to get a good look at her and when I tell you I got a GOOD look at her...
She had somehow made the ugly ass uniform we had to wear look like it was made just for her. She was tall...taller than me which was surprising since I had always been the tallest one in friend groups. I definitely wasn't complaining however since her height only added to her overall perfectness. Her eyes were wide and light brown that shone a little under any source of light no matter how small. The red bow around her neck adding the perfect touch even though everyone else had one, she just wore it better. And her hair..oh her hair don't even get me started on it. It was the perfect color that seemed to be mixed by God himself to make me fall for her immediately. The way her curls slightly bounced when she smiled and waved made me melt. Oh and her smile, it was so so beautiful. She seemed so happy like she had just got the best news of her life but it was just meeting lame old me. I could go on and on about this goddess but I'll spare you're sanity for now since I was slightly freaking out about this now awkward situation I had made for myself
"Uh hi, I'm uh Jamie (you're name btw sorry if you don't like it)" I mumble out softly, my eyes wondering anywhere but her as I could feel my face get warmer. Ema quickly notices this and realizes soon as she tells Ray we have to go and pulls me with her in a hurry. I knew there was no way I was going to survive this year being this down bad for someone I just met.
"Jamie what the fuck! You were supposed to become friends with them not fall in love with them!" She whisper yells at me.
"I know I know I'm sorry but I mean have you seen her my God she's fucking gorgeous!" I whisper yell back looking back at her with pleading eyes my face still red.
She sighs and rolls her eyes, "I hate you, ya know that."
I managed to giggle softly, "I love you too don't worry."
Just then we run into Mikey and Illi arguing about which horror movie was the better one on the way into school. Thankfully, they weren't as majestic as Ray so I was able to stay normal. Illi seemed ecstatic to finally be meeting me.
"OMG HI YOU'RE JAMIE RIGHT?! EMA HAS TOLD ME ALL ABOUT YOU!" She seemed to squeal out.
I smiled wide and nodded, "Yup that's me! It's nice to finally be meeting you as well!" I say holding out my hand for her to shake but instead she takes me in a big hug which I returned politely, though a bit shocked by it.
Mikey wasn't as enthusiastic but I was told he had always been the quiet one. "Uh hi, I'm Mikey.." He said in a lower tone but still with a small smile on his face while I keep the same smile I've had.
"Yeah hi, Mikey! I'm Jamie which you probably caught by now," I say with a nervous chuckle that he does as well. This was soon interrupted by Ema making a sharp yelp that was halfway mixed with a laugh as I saw her get lifted up from behind.
"FRANKIE!! I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!" She exclaimed almost as loud as her yelp which made me chuckle since I knew they called every day and hang out at least once a week. Still, they acted like they haven't seen each other in years. Frank was peppering her neck with kisses as they both whispered corny couple stuff to each other. If I'm being honest, I was a little jealous. Not that I wanted Frank of course and not to the point where I'd hate her or anything but I just felt lonely around them, more so than on calls. Before I could think about it more I felt a short man wrap his arms around me. I zoned back in to realize it was Frank. Since I was the closest to him, I was smiling wide and hugged him back.
"JAMIE IT'S SO COOL TO FINALLY ACTUALLY MEET YOU IN REAL LIFE DUDE!" He says, well more like yells to me.
"RIGHT I'M SO HAPPY I'M HERE!" I responded back to him, still hugging when I looked up at Ema giving me a look and i chuckled as I slowly pulled away which Frank understood.
The happiness didn't last too long as I noticed Ray was talking to Mikey and Illi as they made their way towards us again. As my eyes found Ray again I got that same feeling all over again. At this point it wasn't even just butterflies, it was the whole goddamn ecosystem in my stomach. This year was going to be hell..
