My Friend is a... Pedophile?!

Summary:

It was common knowledge that Senkuu cared only about science and had zero interest in love. Still, Yuzuriha often worried—what if her best friend never experienced youth properly? They were already in their third year of high school, with just one year left before Senkuu left for university in America.

So, determined to help, she came up with a plan: make sure Senkuu at least had a taste of normal teenage life—like dating. Yes, that was her mission.

Which is why she was completely stunned when, on an ordinary sunny day, this conversation took place:
“Senkuu, where are you going?”
“I’m picking up… bzzt–bzzzt…” the crackle of chemicals distorted his voice. “…my lover.”
“…?!”

And then, when they happened to glimpse the wallpaper on his phone—
A blonde little girl’s face appeared on the screen.
“!!!”

In that instant, Yuzuriha was convinced her best friend had somehow turned into a pedophile… and that she should call the police right away!

Or, in truth, this story is merely about misunderstandings and the negative effects of wild assumptions

Even though the title sounds kinda 'sus', this story is actually just a big misunderstanding. Senkuu isn’t a pedophile at all—that’s just his friends’ wild assumption. He’s simply picking up his young science-enthusiast student, Suika. And maybe... teasing a a certain mentalist...?

Work Text:

My Friend is a... Pedophile?!

That day, the Sugawara no Michizane High School Science Club room was filled with the lively noise of chatter and new gossip among the members. Their conversations mingled with the hiss of Bunsen burners and the clinking of test tubes, making the room—usually occupied by bookworms—a little livelier. Fresh gossip slipped through the smell of chemicals, giving the club’s laboratory a burst of life.

This time, the hot topic wasn’t about the latest experiment, but a silly trend created by the young celebrity “Asagiri Gen.” The trend was simple: exchange photos with your lover and set them as each other’s phone wallpaper.

His book Psychological Magic stated that, by using your lover’s picture as your phone wallpaper, your relationship would grow closer. And of course, it served as a sort of sign of ownership... or loyalty in the world of love.

That silly trend exploded on Twetbird, making almost every teenager caught in the throes of puberty and romance join in with their partners. Including Yuzuriha, who couldn’t escape from the craze either. After all, she and Taiju had just officially become a couple three months ago after longing for each other for nearly five years. Remembering that moment made Yuzuriha blush in embarrassment.

Especially now, every time she opened her phone, it was Taiju’s photo that appeared on the screen.

Once again, she reminded herself, almost all love-struck teenagers going through puberty were doing this. So Yuzuriha didn’t feel too embarrassed, since her friends were doing it too.

Yes. Almost everyone.

Except for one.

“Tch, a silly trend from a silly trash book,” mocked her friend, Senkuu. The boy, clad in his signature white lab coat, kept his garnet eyes fixed on the purple liquid inside a test tube in his left hand. “A useless trend that’s just a waste of time.”

“Oh, come on Senkuu, let us enjoy our youth,” retorted Shiba. Even though he wore the same lab coat, instead of holding beakers his hands were full with his own phone and his lover’s. On his lover’s phone was a picture of Shiba, and on Shiba’s own phone was a picture of the Student Council Secretary.

“Just admit you’re jealous, because you’re the only one still single,” teased Daichi. The bold first-year jabbed Senkuu’s shoulder with his elbow, his eyes narrowing like a sly fox mocking a turtle’s pace. “Oh! You could use a picture of your science as a substitute for a girlfriend’s photo, Senku hahaha.”

Senkuu gave his teammate a flat stare, sharply brushing off the hand poking his shoulder before focusing back on his experiment. At this point, Yuzuriha could only grimace from the corner. As much as she respected her friend’s choice to love science and dedicate himself to it, Yuzuriha still felt sad imagining her friend not enjoying his youth like a normal teenager. Well, although Senkuu was a special case—after all, what kind of teenager went to Africa alone to research the Ebola virus?

That was why, out of pure concern, Yuzuriha was determined to push her friend to enjoy his youth. In the past, Yuzuriha and Taiju often dragged Senkuu to various places so he wouldn’t feel lonely. But now, she had to find another approach. It was...

“Ssst—Kanda-kun.” Yuzuriha called out to the vice president of the science club. “I heard you often go on blind dates, right?”

The vice president adjusted his glasses, gave her a sideways glance, and answered cynically, “Hmn. What about it?”

Yuzuriha wasn’t offended by his tone. Her eyes flicked toward Senkuu as she raised her finger to point at him. “Would you consider inviting Senkuu-kun?”

“Hah? Are you joking, miss? You know better than anyone that our club president is totally anti—Oh.” Kanda’s protest halted when a lightbulb flickered on in his head with a ping-ping sound. His eyes narrowed on their spartan club president who loved dragging every member into overtime. Flames of revenge gleamed in his jet-black eyes, devilish horns sprouted from his forehead, and his once-respectable smile twisted into the grin of a mocking demon. “Heh, heh, heh. Miss Yuzuriha, leave the blind date plan to me. So, can you drag Senkuu into hell—uhuk!—I mean, this blind date?”

Yuzuriha, who cared about nothing except encouraging her friend to enjoy his youth, raised both thumbs and nodded eagerly. “Yes! Leave it to me and Taiju-kun!”

And so it began: how Yuzuriha became an accomplice to the revenge plot of the science club members against their spartan president.

Or at least, that’s how it should have gone.

But it failed!

“What? Why not?” asked Yuzuriha anxiously. Several days had passed since they planned to drag Senkuu to the blind date. Now, back in the same science clubroom with the same people, they tried to carry out their plan.

“That’s right! We’ve been working overtime for a full week just to meet the Miraikan Science Exhibition deadline. Let us rest!” complained Daichi, his eyes narrowing mischievously, hiding evil intent behind them.

Senkuu brushed off Daichi’s hand, his eyes glued to his phone as he typed and scrolled. “I said I can’t.”

“And we’re asking ‘Why!’” pressed Kanda with his firm tone. Even though his glasses had been swapped for contact lenses, his menacing expression remained.

Yuzuriha stepped forward, speaking as gently as she could. “But Senkuu, we’ve already planned a celebration party for the science club’s victory at the Miraikan Exhibition. You have to come with us.”

Taiju clenched his fists. “Yuzuriha’s right! We have to celebrate our victory together!”

Senkuu scratched his half-deaf ear with his pinky, answering indifferently, “I said I can’t, idiot!”

“WHY?!”

After being yelled at by all the club members, Senkuu finally gave in. “Tch, I have other plans.”

“Plans? Another project? Can’t you put your crazy project aside for a while and enjoy our youth?” complained Daichi.

“That’s right, Senkuu! This is our last year together. Once we graduate, we’ll be working and entering university,” added Shiba.

“Some of us might still meet again if we go to the same college,” Kou chimed in from behind his computer, the clicks of his mouse and keyboard filling the air between debates. “But only our club president is heading to America. It’ll be hard to see each other again.”

They all nodded, staring at Senkuu with hopeful puppy-dog eyes. Unfortunately, what they faced was a cold-hearted leader with a demon’s heart.

“Unfortunately, no.” Senkuu refused, completely unfazed by their pleading looks. “I have other plans.”

At this point, they almost gave up. The only idea left was to have Taiju tie Senkuu up and stuff him in a sack. In other words: kidnap him.

To hell with prison.

Unaware of their wicked scheme, Senkuu just sighed in exhaustion. He dug at his ear with his pinky as usual. “You can plan that party on another day. But not today.”

“But why?”—asked for the second time.

After a minute of silence—broken only by Kou’s typing and the humming of the printer—Senkuu finally spoke.

“Today I’m going to pick up... bzzt-bzzzt...” The loud crackle of chemicals distorted several of his words, leaving only the last one clear...

“My lover.”

“...?!!” BOOM!

Along with blowing the minds of every teenager in the science clubroom, the explosion from a miscalculation sent oil splattering everywhere, igniting flames. The blast tripped the automatic safety, cutting the power in the clubroom, shutting down Kou’s computer and halting the printer that had been spitting out important financial reports. It wasn’t dangerous, but it was enough to make everyone scramble for fire extinguishers to keep the flames from spreading.

Though they were only teenagers, they were surprisingly competent. Maybe because they had been steeped in science for so long—or maybe because they were simply too used to failed experiments exploding in their faces.

Once the situation calmed down, Senkuu grumbled while wiping soot off his face. He stripped off his dirty gloves and tossed them into the trash. His steps carried him toward the door as his lips moved.

“Tch, I’ll report this to the teacher. You guys, clean up this mess.” Then, he walked away.

Leaving his friends behind, drowning in a thousand questions in their heads.

“Did I mishear that?” asked Shiba.

“No. He said he has a lover,” Kou answered as he stood from his computer.

“You believe that?” Daichi asked.

“No,” Yuzuriha and Kanda said in unison.

Then came the belated scream from the dumbest of them all. “Whaaat! Senkuu, since when do you have a girlfriend!”

Yuzuriha immediately clamped her boyfriend’s mouth shut, stopping him from shouting like a maniac. “Calm down, Taiju-kun. Let’s think this through carefully. If Senkuu really had a lover, he would’ve told us, right? We’re his close friends.”

“Oh-oh, you’re right,” Taiju said calmly. He placed his finger on his chin, thinking. “But then, how do we find out if Senkuu really has a lover or not?”

That was when the lights, which had previously gone out because of the experiment’s explosion, flickered back on above their heads like an idea. All of them turned at once to look at Senkuu’s phone lying on the table. Their thoughts aligned.

Check his phone wallpaper!

“But Senkuu isn’t the kind of guy who would do that,” Shiba said pessimistically.

“We won’t know until we try,” said Kanda.

“Hmn,” Kou nodded. “Science is trial and error.”

And so, Yuzuriha volunteered to pick up her friend’s phone. Their minds spun wildly, predicting what kind of chemical formula he might have used as the passcode. But the moment Yuzuriha pressed the ‘power’ button, their genius minds froze.

What they saw on their president’s lock screen was... something completely unexpected.

“A picture of an 8-year-old girl!”

Police sirens blared in their heads.

Yuzuriha quickly dropped Senkuu’s phone back onto the table. They all took five steps back and plastered themselves against the wall.

“Hey-hey-hey, did my eyes deceive me?!” Kanda shouted in panic. He fumbled to take out his contact lenses, afraid what he saw was an illusion.

“No, vice president,” Daichi added. “It was clearly a picture of an 8-year-old girl.”

“So... could it be that little girl is...”

“Wait a second!” Shiba cut off Daichi’s wild assumption. “It could be his little sister, or cousin, or something like that. Right, Yuzuriha?”

Yuzuriha clenched her cold, sweaty hands. She shook her head with a horrified look. “I don’t remember him having any siblings. I mean, he’s Byakuya-san’s adopted son, isn’t he?”

Taiju wore the same horrified look, nodding so fast it looked like his head would fall off. His pale face infected the rest of the club members. Just one more piece of evidence, and one of them was ready to call the police.

While they were still trapped in their own wild assumptions, the clubroom door suddenly swung open, revealing their unsuspecting president. Almost unsuspecting.

“Hmn? What’s wrong? Why are you all keeping your distance from me?” Senkuu asked in confusion, staring at the science club members clinging to the wall like lizards.

Taiju looked ready to lunge at his friend and shake his shoulders like crazy, but Yuzuriha stopped him. In the end, all they could do was shake their heads awkwardly and watch Senkuu pack up his phone and belongings. Just as he was about to leave, one of them finally dared to ask.

“Ekhm, Senkuu...san. Where are you going?” Kou asked.

Senkuu raised an eyebrow, pointing at the wall clock that showed dismissal time. “Didn’t I already tell you earlier?”

“He’s going to pick up his underage girlfriend!”

“Wait—Senkuu—”

“Ah, if you still have business here, don’t forget to lock the door. Enjoy your party.”

And just like that, Senkuu walked away, completely unaware that every step was taking him closer to a prison cell.

.

.

“Shhh… don’t make a sound, it’ll be trouble if we get caught!” Kanda whispered.
Knowing the possibility that their science club president might be a criminal pedophile, they canceled the blind date disguised as a party. Instead, they tailed Senkuu like detectives ready to expose a crime and catch a high-profile fugitive.

Not far from their hiding spot, Senkuu walked casually, eyes glued to his phone. A chuckle and a faint smile crept across the scientist’s face, fueling their wild speculations.

“He must be scrolling through indecent photos of that poor little girl!” Daichi growled.
“Ugh, I still can’t believe the president could stoop that low,” Kou said in dismay.
“Don’t assume things. Maybe that kid is just his student or something,” Shiba tried to stay positive. “Remember, he once said he was a private tutor for a genius grade schooler.”
“Hmn-hmn,” Yuzuriha nodded faintly.
“Could it be… Senkuu is dating his own student?! An underaged one?!” Daichi blurted another wild theory. “We know he’s only ever interested in science. Maybe he got desperate to find a partner who shares his passion. So he made one himself—by brainwashing a child with science theories until she understands him, then he’ll marry her—”
“Stop it! Senkuu’s not like that—”
“Taiju-kun, calm down!”

Taiju’s loud outburst made Senkuu glance back. The group panicked and slipped into a nearby barbershop to hide. When Senkuu walked on without suspicion, they sighed in relief.

“Do you guys want a haircut?” the barber asked.
They exchanged glances, bowed, their faces red as tomatoes, and bolted out the door with their tails between their legs.

But once outside, they realized—they had lost Senkuu’s trail. With no choice left, and with one last desperate hope—that it wouldn’t be true—they headed toward the nearest elementary school.

“Let’s hope Senkuu isn’t there,” Kanda muttered.

Which betrayed them instantly because… “Senkuu is there!”

Standing at the school gate was Senkuu, white lab coat swaying, a bag slung over his shoulder. His free hand patted the head of a little girl, about eight years old, blonde hair, dark brown eyes, a clear mix of Asian and Western heritage.

If the sight of Senkuu smiling at the girl wasn’t shocking enough, the name she used for him was enough to make Yuzuriha almost dial the police on the spot. Especially when a watermelon-flavored ice cream—likely filled with dangerous chemicals, since knowing Senkuu meant knowing he was always one step away from “mad”—passed from the scientist’s hand to the innocent child.

“Daddy, you came to pick me up again!” the girl squealed, hugging Senkuu’s leg. “Wow! You made homemade watermelon ice cream again? With science?”
Senkuu crouched down so their eyes met. “Yeah. Did you miss me, my little watermelon?”
“Yes! I missed you so much because I love you!”

Not far away, the rest of the group froze.
Yuzuriha dropped her bag. Taiju’s eyes bulged wide. Kou and Shiba covered their mouths in shock. Daichi kicked a trash can in fury. And Kanda furiously dialed the police.

“Hello?! Police?! Please, my friend’s a pedophile. He just—”

And that’s how Ishigami Senkuu ended up in a jail cell.
Recorded as a teenage pedophile attempting to manipulate a minor with the lure of watermelon-flavored ice cream.

.

.

“Uwaaa! Senkuu! I can’t believe this—I can’t believe this—Senkuu, I thought you were my best friend! Why—why! Why would you commit such a crime?!” Taiju cried, clutching the iron bars that separated him from Senkuu, his tears and snot running down his foolish face.

“Club president, just because we teased you about being single doesn’t mean you can go date an underage girl like that,” Kanda scolded, his square glasses back on his face, making him look all the more intimidating.

“Tch, I told you, you’ve got it all wrong!” Senkuu groaned in frustration. If he were strong enough to bend steel, he would have broken out of the cell already.

“What part of this is wrong?!” Daichi shot back, pointing at the little girl still crying and wailing. “Look at the kind of manipulation you’ve pulled on her! Making her call you ‘Daddy’? You’re disgusting.”

“It’s not what you think!” Senkuu retorted again, teeth grinding, fingers tugging at his green hair.

“Stop yelling. You’re scaring the girl,” Shiba admonished. He was the only one still somewhat sane, alongside Kou and Yuzuriha. With a policeman’s help, he tried to soothe the crying girl.

“Hic-hic, waaah, waaah, hic-hic, please free Daddy!” the girl sobbed.

“There-there, it’s okay, sweetie. We’re not bad people,” Kou coaxed gently. “It’s just… our friend Senkuu, he’s being held because he did something bad to you—”

“But Daddy isn’t a bad person! Waaaaaah!” The girl’s cries only grew louder. Even the policeman’s presence seemed to frighten her further.

Yuzuriha and Shiba were nearly in tears themselves trying to calm her down, guilt pressing heavily on them for scaring a child. Until finally, Senkuu, still behind bars, snapped.

“Call her parents, you idiots!”

And… well, that actually made sense. Why hadn’t they thought of that earlier?

A few hours later, they finally managed to contact the girl’s parents—learning that her name was Sui. Her parents said they’d be at the police station in about an hour to pick her up and explain everything. They also advised giving Sui-chan some ice cream to keep her calm.

Which, surprisingly, worked. After being handed watermelon-flavored ice cream—Senkuu’s personal recommendation—the girl quieted down at once. The teens and officers all sighed in relief at finally stopping the child’s tears. Meanwhile, Senkuu sat cross-legged behind bars, arms folded, his face frozen in annoyance.

An hour passed.

The echo of footsteps rang down the corridor, louder and louder as they drew near. Then the door opened, revealing a figure just as suspicious as their worst fears. Clad in a black-and-green jacket that covered every inch of skin like a second layer, concealing a perfectly tailored three-piece suit beneath, face hidden by a mask, eyes obscured behind glasses, hair tucked away under a hat.

If not for the joyful smile lighting up Sui-chan’s face, they would have sworn this was Pedophile No. 2.

“Okaa-nii!” Sui-chan squealed. She leapt off the bench and hurled herself into the masked figure’s arms, nearly knocking him over. Tears spilled again. “Hiks-hiks, Okaa-nii, I was so scared!”

The masked man—though knocked flat by the little girl—still wrapped his arms tightly around her. His slender, delicate hands stroked her blonde hair, his soft, melodic voice soothing her.

“There, there. Calm down, my genius little watermelon. You’re safe now, okay?” he whispered. And Sui-chan nodded obediently.

When the girl finally calmed, the masked man lifted her into his arms and approached the cell. Everyone thought he would scold Senkuu. Instead, he merely complained.

“Haaaah… just look what you’ve done, you so-called genius scientist!” the masked man snapped. “I left behind five cameras, four new album recordings, and three sponsors just to deal with your mess!”

Rather than look ashamed, Senkuu chuckled, as though sharing in some private joke. “Who? Nanami Corp?”

“Yes!” the masked man groaned in frustration. His voice, though muffled before by the mask, now rang clear and familiar in their ears. “Do you have any idea how much we lost leaving Ryuusui-chan alone in the waiting room?!”

Senkuu casually dug a pinky in his ear, strolling closer with his usual nonchalance. “Hmn, I’ll calculate it for you now—”

“Not now!” the masked man snapped—by now, everyone was sure. He was Asagiri Gen. The only celebrity courted by Nanami Corp, constantly playing tug-of-war with the Dragon of Commerce himself.

“I don’t want to hear your statistics—or whatever.”

“But Suika wants to hear them,” Senkuu countered smoothly, his brow arched in obvious teasing. “Isn’t that right?”

Asagiri Gen only gave a small, exasperated sneer. “I only hired you to teach my children science, remember.”

“But mathematics is part of science,” Senkuu replied.

If Yuzuriha had any doubts before, now she was certain.

Senkuu was absolutely teasing Asagiri Gen.

Tired of arguing with Senkuu, Asagiri Gen approached the police officer who had arrested Senkuu—just as a tall, muscular yet strikingly beautiful woman entered the room. Her hair was done in two braids, she wore an elegant business suit, and an ID card that read Manager hung from her neck.

“All right, Omawari-chan,” said Gen, signaling for his manager to hand over a folder filled with documents. “Allow me to clarify.”

“My name is Asagiri Gen, you can look me up on the internet. I’m a magician, a mentalist, a singer... well, to put it simply, you could just call me an entertainer in the show business,” Gen introduced himself, slowly removing the layers of his disguise with ease, even though one of his hands was full with a little girl clinging tightly to him like a koala.

Then he pointed to Suika and the official documents inside the folder. “This little girl is my adopted daughter. Akatsuki Sui—Now, Asagiri Sui”

The officer carefully examined the documents, and indeed, there was an official adoption certificate. He raised his eyebrows in surprise. “You adopted a child? You were still 18 back then. And you never went public about your adopted daughter?”

“There’s no age limit to adopt a sweet child,” Gen replied with a shrug. “After her parents passed away, I adopted her. Hyoga-chan and Kohaku-chan were my friends. Of course, I couldn’t let their child be left alone in an orphanage.”

He continued, “As for publicity, I was already working in the entertainment industry at the time. I didn’t want my daughter’s normal life to be disrupted by my career.” Gen paused briefly, one arm circling around Suika’s head to cover her ears. Then he spoke in words no child would understand. “Especially after what happened to both her parents three years ago. As a fellow policeman, I’m sure you understand.”

The officer caught the implication in Gen’s words, as did the teenagers who were still listening. Once things calmed down again, the officer asked another question as part of the procedure.

“What about that teenager? What is his relation to your daughter?” the policeman asked, pointing at Senkuu—who, of course, remained calm as if he wasn’t behind bars.

Instead of calmly explaining like before, Gen nearly snapped, his lips pouting and eyes narrowing in irritation. “Nothing. Omawari-chan, you may lock him up for life.”

“Hey!” Senkuu protested, frowning. Not angry, just annoyed.

Gen stuck out his tongue, his playful demeanor completely different from the perfectionist image he had on stage. “That’s what you get for having rotten luck and pathetic negotiation skills. Certified anti-social!”

Senkuu—whom Yuzuriha thought would normally debate back like he always did at school—only sighed in defeat, as though he had heard it countless times before. He turned toward Gen’s manager helplessly.

“Nikki, do something.”

Gen’s manager, Nikki, placed another folder and what seemed to be Gen’s phone on the desk for inspection. “That wilted cabbage over there—”

“Hey!” came Senkuu’s protest again.

“—is Suika’s private tutor. As you can see, Suika has intelligence far above most children her age. That’s why Gen hired Senkuu, who shares the same passion and knowledge as her. This cooperation has been ongoing for two and a half years.”

As the officer nodded in understanding, the teenagers behind them wore different expressions. Yuzuriha, Shiba, and Kou were in shock, not expecting their friend to know such a top-tier celebrity. Kanda and Daichi had their jaws dropped in disbelief. And Taiju—ready to cry once more—this time out of happiness.

The officer asked again, “Then, why does your daughter call Ishigami Senkuu ‘Daddy’?”

Although Gen was a famous mentalist with an impenetrable poker face, Yuzuriha—keen-eyed as always, able to spot even a single loose thread on a fabric—noticed a faint blush on the mentalist’s cheeks. Only for a fraction of a second, so fleeting that anyone else would have missed it. Yuzuriha gasped quietly, blinking a few times before pressing a finger to her lips to keep herself from speaking.

With a professional tone, Gen replied—deflecting, of course—“Perhaps because Suika-chan longs for a father figure. And for her, Senkuu-chan is very similar to her father.” Then he chuckled, as though reminiscing about something funny. “Especially after Senkuu-chan came to her school during Father’s Day. Pffft.”

And that was why Senkuu skipped the Science Club Exhibition at last year’s Cultural Festival! Turns out he was acting as a rental dad for a genius little watermelon orphan—thought the teens.

The officer frowned, then opened the phone Nikki had handed over for inspection. His eyes widened at the sight but quickly returned to professionalism, checking a few details before handing it back to its owner.

“I see. This was all just a misunderstanding—”

“Told you so!” Senkuu cut him off, irritated.

“Uhuk—my apologies for this commotion. Ishigami Senkuu can be released now,” said the officer with a bow.

The teenagers also bowed, apologizing for the mess they had caused. Meanwhile, Gen took it all in stride.

“Oh my dear, don’t worry. It’s all thanks to Senkuu-chan’s bad luck and terrible negotiation skills.”

As Senkuu finally stepped out of the cell, he growled in annoyance. “Hey! How long are you going to keep mocking me, Mentalist?”

Gen smirked, his tone sharp and playful. “Until I’m satisfied, Genius Fool.”

And thus, the misunderstanding was resolved.

.

.

A few days had passed since the incident, yet no one dared to bring up that embarrassing topic again. The scandal had already spread throughout the entire high school, becoming the hottest gossip of the first week of the month. But despite the shame, Yuzuriha didn’t regret it one bit. Why? Because her goal—at least, even without her direct meddling—had been achieved.

That day, after countless bows, apologies, and small snacks given to Suika, the teens parted ways with Senkuu, Gen, and Suika.

As they walked in different directions, Yuzuriha noticed the way Senkuu leaned toward Gen like a plant turning toward sunlight. His voice, normally flat and cold as though explaining a complex chemical formula, had softened into a husky, melodious tone that belonged to someone who had already begun climbing the steps of adulthood. Her friend—who had always respected the boundaries of physical touch, who disliked letting others invade his personal space—now stretched out his arms to draw the Mentalist closer into it. His hands—hardened after a year and a half of training at the gym with Taiju—reached for Suika, lifting her into his arms. Meanwhile, Gen, with a natural grace, handed Suika over and picked up Senkuu’s school bag to carry it himself.

Each of them walked farther and farther from where Yuzuriha stood watching, until finally disappearing into the waiting car.

It was all... so intimate in a way only the apathetic scientist and the sly mentalist could share.

And when the members of the Science Club secretly unlocked Senkuu’s phone—still with Suika as the lock screen wallpaper—and stumbled upon the main wallpaper photo inside, Yuzuriha wasn’t as surprised as the others.

Seeing the photo of the Mentalist fast asleep on the Scientist’s shoulder?
Oh, of course it wasn’t surprising.

Even though she knew that the famous picture of the Mentalist dozing off against Senkuu had been taken in secret—it was obvious from the way the evening light fell upon Gen’s face, his usually neat hair now tousled, and the faint traces of makeup half erased, as if the Mentalist had just come home from work and immediately drifted into sleep.

Once again, with Yuzuriha’s sharp eye as a master seamstress, it was hardly surprising.

Because... who knew what had already happened between them during the past two and a half years?

With Senkuu’s teenage hormones? Yuzuriha didn’t even need to ask.

Pfft. All she needed to know was that her best friend was happy with his youth. That was enough.

“What are you laughing at, Yuzuriha?” asked Taiju.

Yuzuriha glanced at her boyfriend, slipping her hand around his arm as they walked on their weekly date. “I was just thinking that Senkuu and Gen might be the first ones to get married among the Science Club members. Taiju-kun, what kind of wedding gift do you think would suit them?”

“Hmnn. You’re right. The perfect gift would be...”

.

Omake :

After they returned from the police station. At Gen’s luxurious apartment, late at night.

“Has Suika-chan already gone to sleep?” asked Gen. He had just soaked in the warm bath for an hour, his flushed, delicate skin now wrapped in silky pajamas. The fragant and thick scent of lavender wafted from his body, an effect of his regular care routine.

Senkuu sat in front of the glowing computer, the screen filled with English and Russian articles that Gen refused to bother himself with. Ignoring the scientist, Gen crossed the room barefoot and flopped onto the bed like a lazy cat. Making the bed bounce softly beneath his body.

“Good. I suppose she’s still scared of the police station. Even if she doesn’t show any signs of trauma, it’s still concerning,” said Gen, his voice muffled as he buried his face into the pillow, lying on his stomach with his arms hugging it.

“Kukuku, you look exhausted,” Senkuu teased, shutting down his computer and sitting beside Gen.

Without lifting his head, Gen replied, “And whose fault do you think that is?”

“Mine?!” Senkuu challenged. “Then let me heal you.”

“Ah, yeah, yeah, you can—” Gen’s thoughts froze. Before he could crawl away, his body was flipped over like an egg on a frying pan. “Wait—Senkuu!—”

“Hmnn?”

“Ah-ah, I said—ah—wait!”

“No. The easiest way to make you rest is to paralyze your legs.”

“Noo!—Ah! Hey! You—you’re so rough! Are you mad? Yes, you must be mad! You’re jealous because Ryuusui-chan and Sai-chan looked at me—Aaaah! You’re biting me!”

“Kukuku, I’m not mad. At least not until a minute ago… Until you mentioned another man’s name while I’m fucking your ass.”

“Aaaah! Senkuu-chan! You—you’re too big! Wait, wait—pass—pass—let me breathe—ouch! Aah! Hmn—”

“Kukuku, damn. This is so thrilling!”

And that was how Nikki managed to smash Senkuu’s prototype research project with a single punch.

“Next time, if you can’t control yourself, it won’t be your head of cabbage—no, it’ll be your bastard dick that gets crushed.”

Nod-nod.

Senkuu could only nod if he wanted to marry Gen and keep his mischievous penis intact.
