After Jay left, claiming he didn't need to help anymore since he's already done what he was getting paid for along with more that he wasn't being for Nya felt crushed. She had tried to tell him that was part of being a ninja and this was the end of the world they were talking about here.
But he left.
He still left her.
So she went through her gate alone, angry, determined, and maybe a little insane with the way she was talking to herself and the fact she had started taking directions from a back up personality coconut..
Nya would be lying if she said she hadn't hoped the person who attacked the cyclops was Jay, but she was glad her brother was there. Especially since he had some of Geo's wafers which were... not his finest work to say the least but they got the pigeons to sing, awakening Their half of the dragon of balance.
After the battle, distorting thunderfang for good Jay had confessed that he didn't remember Nya but he didn't want to be as bad as he was when he around her
So that's how they ended up where they were now, after coming back to see all the finders unhollowed and Cole had trapped and stoped lord ras from doing who knows what Nya suggested the two of them go rest and talk

"Ok i know you said you don't remember anything about us or being a ninja, but what do you remember? Like anything about your childhood, parents, interests?" Nya asked as she held on of jay's hands in between her own, gently running her thumb over his bruised knuckles
Jay was silent for awhile, half thinking half looking a the woman he was currently laying beside, now that he wasn't trying to make himself hate her he was able to appreciate how beautiful she was
"childhood and parents are a dud, like anytime I try to remember anything about it I end up with I migraine. Though interests are pretty easy since I guess they are still the same"
Nya nodded before making herself look Jay in the eyes "What about your yin? Do you still have it?" She asked, slightly worried about the answer
"What's that?"
Nya took one of her hands of jay's to pull out a necklace from her shirt that had a gold pendant on it with a black dragon "yin and yang, they go together that why people use their image to propose.. do you still have yours? It'd be like this but black with a gold dragon"
"... are you trying to say we were engaged..?"
"So I guess that means you don't" Nya sighed as she put her hand back on jay's
"No I do.. it's in my room somewhere.. I think. I didn't know that's what that meant. Tried to sell it but no one wanted it and when someone showed interest they always asked about the other half.." Jay muttered, slightly embarrassed now especially since it was something so important.. also proof that maybe she hadn't been lying to him
"You tried to what?!"
"In my defense I didn't know what it was" Jay defended before looked to see she.. wasn't mad? Why was she laughing "what's so funny"
"I'm sorry, really, I just find it funny that you tried to sell Half a marriage pendent" Nya tried to stifle her laughter though she couldn't get rid of the smile on her face
Jay sighed, desperately wanting to change the subject now "so maybe we were actually a couple, tell me about the things we used to do together.. like dates and stuff"
Nya soften at that, she'd never turn down opportunity to tell this story "alright, what about our first date then"
Jay nodded then Nya began "ok this was waaaay back when the serpentine were still a pain in our sides, but we thought we were in the clear at the time so you invited me to the carnival that was in town. when we actually got there we went to get food and you started acting strange then went to the bathroom for like twenty minutes."
"Then this was back when I was the samurai by the way, I had gotten a call about the serpentine so I may or may not had left- "
Jay cut her off "wait what? You just left? And what was going on with me?"
"Yes and I'm getting there" Nya laughed before continuing "like I was saying I went to fight the serpentine but I got captured and chained to a broken rollercoster, once you managed to get out of the restaurant you saw me up there and went to save me."
"That when I found out during our meeting that morning you had been messing with the Fangpyre serpentine scull we had and accidentally made it bite you so you we're turning intro a snake”
“I was what?? A snake? Ew no wonder I was in that bathroom for so long” Jay cringed as he cut Nya off again causing her to laugh again
“Yes, a snake” Nya confirmed
“And you continued to date me after??” Jay questioned, slightly judging til he remembered that he was technically also judging himself
“Not necessarily, we didn’t start dating til a few months after this. Now can I finish?”
Jay sighed as he (failed to) discreetly scooted closer to Nya “yeah yeah, let me get comfortable since this is taking so long”
Nya rested her head on Jay’s shoulder as she continued “right, im almost done. Anyways I ended up revealing that I was the samurai so I couldn’t save us in this situation. And the way to reverse the fangpyer venom is to raise someone’s heart beat, so in a moment of panic I kissed you” Nya laughed, slightly embarrassed looking back at how she handled the situation
“And it worked in turning you back to normal, letting you over come your fear and reach you true potential. And that’s how you saved us from dying on our first date yay” Nya smiled, shaking her hands to emphasize that she was done
Jay stared at her for a moment (something Nya noticed he had been doing frequently) before laughing “no shot any of that actually happened, that’s ridiculous!
“It did! I swear! You think I’d make up you almost turning into a snake?” Nya grinned as she began to laugh with him
“You’d have to be! No way that’s a real thing” Jay argued, but not like he normally did when he thought Nya was lying to him this was different.. like someone pretending to have not said anything even though the other person very clearly heard them and they knew they did
“You think that sounds fake? Wait til I tell you about the first tournament of elements, hosted my this guy name chang. You ended up having to go against Cole and- “
“Against the rock guy?? I fought that guy and lived??” Jay sputtered “Cole is the big guy who can control the earth right?”
“Yes, he is, and you’re still alive aren’t you?” Nya laughed at the comment
“Well yes I’m obviously still alive, but have you seen the arms on that guy, I bet he could crush my skull with his hands if he wanted to!”
“That’s.. actually not an unrealistic thought.. I kinda wonder if he could- not to you of course! But I do know he can crush a watermelon with his thighs” Nya pondered knowing Cole did have a lot of strength in his arms
“Why the hell do you know that? Who and why would someone want to know if they could crush a watermelon??” Jay asked, confused how something like that would even get brought up
“That’s a story for kai to tell, ask him about it tomorrow, I bet the finders would find it interesting to”
“Right, now what about that tournament of elements, the first one?”
“Oh right! I only know the beginning form what you told me since I was only there for the last part after sneaking in”
“You and your ninja stuff, now tell me about it. I like..” Jay faltered before deciding to go with it “I like you listening to you voice” he huffed as he rested his head on Nya’s
And that’s how they spent the rest of their night, laying next to eachother like they used to, Nya telling Jay about their relationship and memories as listened. He almost hoped he wouldn’t remember these things if it ment he could keep hearing her talk about it. Though he rather remember her Jay told himself as he closed his eyes. Letting himself find comfort in a person like he used to, not that he remembered that but it felt right.
He may not have his memory but he did have his feelings, this was right.
